Yes I Do Confirm MBC1 and MBC2 Off for about 48 Hours now.

@Salamander
Thanks for the effort. As Sathob told you on phone. The show was no joke. Terrible witches and Wizards wouldn't let us complete. At one point in time the receiver simply refused to come on. Strong 53 X series just went dead, no power no nothing. We tried tracking with a Eurostar receiver and it was laughable. If there was ever a nastier receiver it would be the Eurostar.
I also got in touch with Mohammed Maybe we could reschedule as soon as i can afford another strong receiver
Sorry, I could not make it to your end. Mohammed was with me by then helping me add the Fuji LNB to my set. Yes, reschedule another day and we will all be there to assist.

Anyway, I believe it was a good experience. At least, the spirit of DIY; that is all the sathobbism is all about!

Sorry I missed your call. Sathob told me you called him. I have schedule my programme for today, but the least chance I have I will try and make it to your end.

Hope everything goes well.

How about Saturday 10th or 17th? At least i can be sure i would still have a beer or two from the festive season, Can't guarantee drinks after that grin
@Salamander Sathob, would you be able to join us?
Will love to. Luckily for you, don't take hard liquor. A crate of Malt will do for me.

Sorry we motorised the dish on the election day. I think it must be as the result of avoiding all the noise of the elections. The only person I tried to call was Sathob who was also busy somewhere so could not make it. But as you rightly said, we should track down Abdallah and set to work as soon as possible.

Any channel showing premier match today?

Victory for Africa, for the successful elections in Ghana. The Western countries were expecting a negative report and they have none, so they did not give it the prominence it deserves. Shame on them!

Sorry bro. I had everything supplied by a friend: dish, jack and positioner. Anyway, this guy is a friend, so I do 'susu' with him to bring me those items.

Have you try getting "Hotfowl" from your end? I understand it is possible. Captainus, are you in hibernation or you are one of the defeated MPs?

Long time. Don't worry, I wont tell your boss! I just called Sathob. Just got myself a 2.4m mesh dish, trying to motorise it. We are thinking of Nilesat and Hotbird. Give it a try at your end and see how it goes.

Let me agree with enitan on the issue of FTA. I believe showtime is not FTA. By FTA definition, one gets the channel as soon as one gets the right signal. It does not require any form of specialised receivers or patches. The factory settings of most of these specialised receivers 'cannot' open those scrambled channels unless you add a third party patch. The question is, if it is meant to be free, why does the company have to invest so much into scrambling those channels? Free means, free.

Let me also disagree with enitan about controversies on the forum. I believe if an issue that needed to be debated is raised, members that have knowledge on it should do as much as possible to share their opinion on it. I also believe that it is the way we do the criticism that generate these kind of heated arguments.

We have to be civil in the way we criticise or let use the word disagree with our fellow members. I have learnt my lessons from Adewest. One should have a way of saying to a fellow member 'you have a big nose' in a manner that may even attract a gift. And if we have it in our back of our minds that we are talking to the world, we can guide our utterances and keep our conversation sane.

PoliticsNigeria Commends Ghana On The Conduct Of Peaceful, Free And Fair Polls by salamander(op): 3:40pm On Dec 11, 2008
Accra, Dec. 10, GNA- Nigeria has commended Ghana for conducting the December 7 elections in a free, fair and peaceful manner, whilst urging Ghanaians to remain civil till the process is completed as the polls go into second round. I'm still mourning Nigcomsat-1. Me and Twinstaiye were almost concluding a deal to bring together all the channels on Nilesat, Hotbird, Eurobird, Hispasat, Sirius, NSS7, Eutelsat W3a, W4A, Intelsat 7/10, etc. to Nigcomsat-1 on a beam that will be receivable in West Africa (to also accommodate Ecowas4all, Salamandar, Sathob and the other Charlies) on 65cm dish before the bird suffered break failure. IF YOU THINK I'M LYING, ASK TWINSTAIYE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow! If you can do that, it will be the greatest gift for FTA lovers. Cruise on!

We did not meet the guy so it did not come on. However, we have decided to go there coming Saturday and this time around we go with our TV set and other accessories. Since the dish is available, we will be able to work even the guy is not around.
