Beyond politics, who can explain why Anambra seems to be very prone to erosion?

The soil that I see there is red soil which is claylike in nature, so why then does it wash off so bad to the point that the report says up to 100m? 100M is too deep to be filled back, so what really causes it?
The person doesn't know how deep 100m is. That won't be more than 15 to 20m at best.

I am looking at investing in hospitality business but I’m not sure if 60Million naira will be adequate to erect a 20 room hotel and event hall with a capacity of about 500 people max.

Cause of the paucity of funds, I’m looking to make it a single story building such that hotel will be on the ground floor while the top floor will hold the event hall.

Engineers in the house do you think this amount will be enough to achieve this? Pls let’s have your expert opinion on this. Thanks in advance.
As an Architect I will like to educate you that the first step is to employ the services of an Architect who is the only person qualified at this stage to answer your questions and provide answers. An Engineer is not qualified for such neither is a Quantity Surveyor. So do the right thing, get a capable Architect and then you can have value for your money.

I consider the NE and NW as the regions where people ride on the popularity of presidential candidates to win elections. We saw a lot of that in 2015.

In the South, it's a different ballgame. That's because people in the South are a bit more educated and enlightened and they vote for candidates, not parties.

I don't know who else is coming out in Eti-Osa for House of Representatives because I am definitely going to vote Olubankole Wellington aka Banky W of the PDP.
Forget about all the North is this and South is that. Several times even in South people vote based on party affiliations and this election cycle will still be the same. Some people will get voted based on the popularity of Obi/LP presently.

I am sure that they were all moving at once to the mosque and leaving their work desks empty which was why she got angry and gave them no option at all (though unthinkingly) because it seemed like they were misusing the prayer hour. Imagine a contact centre not having anyone to attend to you for a period of time! Will you help them to reason the fact that it was Muslims that moved out in mass to pray before dragging them for their incompetence? Of course, this coupled with the fact that she might not be a nice boss overall might have resulted to this verdict.

As for you comparing Christians, I have done sunday ATM duties back to back for a month before. You mean I should have gone on social media and started screaming about how I was not able to go to church? Very funny undecided.
Even a Muslim can do ATM duty for a month with no fuss. Bro you and I know that she meant they can never go for prayers on Friday again ever. I have two questions for you:
1) Imagine if say you as a religious and Church going person and other Christians were selected and made to be doing ATM duties on Sundays indefinitely so long you are a staff of the bank. What would you have done?
2) Imagine say you work for Jaiz Bank and let's say Sundays are working days in Nigeria. Now a Muslim supervisor sent you a circular that you Christians can't go to Church. What would have been your reactions?
I'm sure the whole Nigerian Christians would have been shouting Islamisation on your behalf. Think well, put yourself in their shoes and you would you will see the bias in your opinion.

You just don't get it, do you? Try to be objective about this. While I was still in the bank, one of my former bosses who is a Muslim by the way would never allow all the Muslims to go out together on Fridays. He would rather allow them to go "two at a time" and then ask the next set to go once the first set is back. Everyone leaving at once to pray is highly unprofessional.
That is a solution for staff of businesses like banks and security personnel. Prayer times are different for all individual mosques. Some can go and come back and then some others will also go to another one. But the she didn't give them that option. All she said was they can't go for prayers.
Now the instance of Christians doing ATM duties on Sundays is different. You know why? Because it's a shift duty and it's not a single person doing it every Sunday. If Church going Christians are assigned to ATM duties every Sunday, I assure you they will resist it.
If the case was to be reversed, Christians would have polluted the cyberspace with accusations of Islamisation.
N.B When Christians are asked to go to work (ATM duties) on Sundays, you don't get to hear any complaints.

Power rotation would just spoil the little nationalism left in us. Every president elected will only appoint and work with his people. The next will do same and the next. There won't be even development and sharing of resources. It is better for us to strengthen our electoral processes and for regions to form alliances where possible. Power rotation will only see politicians who are looking for power.

Aketi is making sense. Ignore an Ondo man at your own peril .The problem that consumed shagari 2nd republic started from there. Remember he was the one the started Amotekun and insisted presidency will come to the south which northern APC governors complied with. Atiku and PDP didn’t want to respect the zoning agreement that had been in place since 1999. Parties adopted that after the way the north treated MKO Abiola and that was the reason all the northern presidential aspirants stepped down for Ekwueme and Obj in 1999 PDP primaries, same reason OBJ stood ibori, Odili, duke and co down for yaradua, same reason southern candidates supported Atiku in 2019. Buhari is a Fulani still in power and Atiku another Fulani wants to take over and do another 8 years…wonder how that sounds to him
If what you wrote is right, can you kindly explain why Jonathan after finishing Yaraduas tenure ran for elections and you Southerners massively voted for him? Same as 2015 when you still voted for him. Why didn't you people force him to step down and let a Northerner finish the northerners turn if you are that sincere. Or is it when it doesn't favour you people that you will be shouting up and down that it is the turn of the south?

You said even in Aba Yorubas have their mosques yet you contradicted yourself by saying the North does not allow them in central mosque. For your information, Yorubas have their separate mosques due to differences in some religious practices and activities with the North. Northerners pray in Yoruba mosques in every town in the North.

Sorry, you misunderstood me.

I use Extreme to mean those who aren't liberal.
I don't mean Boko Haram. Core Northerners aren't liberal that's not even up for debate. I'm talking of people who couldn't even condemn what happened to Deborah 4 months ago.

My use of the word Haram was to object to Reno's point. These days it's hard to escape social media like WhatsApp. It's embedded in our lives.

My point was that Reno was inconsistent: On one hand claiming the North detests social media and then in his last paragraph claiming that they are big on Tiktok.

Oh my bad. I get your point. He contradicted himself. Even Atiku saying 90% of northerners are not on social media is false. Liberalism, as it is today, is just western perception of how everyone must behave. If you don't fit into that definition, you are an extremist. Even Nigerian Christians have rejected some of those liberal gibberish that the west is trying so hard to shove down our throats.

Exactly.

All social networks (should) constitute haram to core northerners — extreme adherents.

The problem is that Reno is doing guess work here.
This is not a subjective question though, Facebook, WhatsApp & Tiktok can provide the numbers. But Reno is clearly playing guessing games here.
Please you shouldn't be making unfounded claims. How would you just equate core northerners to extremism and by what standards do you define extremism?
You should know that Muslims do not just dislike social media but they do dislike immoral and bad actions on social media- which I'm sure you also do. Alot of Islamic activities are been carried out in all the social media sites we commonly used in Nigeria. If they are Haram as you wrongly pointed out, you will never have come across preaching and other religious activities on social media.

He was wrong there. Northerners detest Ticktock more than they do to Twitter. But a sizeable number of northerners are on Facebook. With regards to watsapp, I do not think Southerners are more than Northerners or the difference would not be much.

57 - 23 = 34; this means that Musa was a grandfather at 34.

37 - 23 = This means his granddaughter cum wife was 14 when he married her.

You got it wrong. He married her when he was 34 and she was 14. Their age difference is 20 years. She was born when he was 20 years old. How can a 20 year old be a grand father?

Not a bad choice in terms both qualifications and presence. However, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed is politically speaking, very lightweight both nationally and locally.
Looking dope, polished and elitist is g
ood but Nigerian politics is akin to a fight in the jungle. I am not sure what his association with Northern youths has been to use them as his support-base and foot-soldiers. Can the 'Northern street' readily identify with him? Moreso, when that street is largely illiterate and helplessly gullible as the result of aloofness of young professionals like him.

Matter of fact, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed is not any different from the other Northern elites who in spite of their exposure and erudition just stay aloof, do their things and mind their businesses without doing anything socially to empower the young Northerners.

Nevertheless, if this is Peter Obi+Datti Baba Ahmed's time, things will fall in place on their own with little effort.
You have succinctly captured the situation with regards to the candidacy of Datti Baba Ahmed; he cannot identify with the northern masses. That will be his greatest undoing. Alot needs to be done to bring awareness to the northern electorates.
Point of correction: You people are always quick to tag northerners as illiterates but surprisingly enough, the average northern 'illiterates' are better informed about the affairs of the nation more than many southerners (both the literates and the illiterates).
Back to the topic: I will want us to try technocrats and see if they are better than career politicians since PDP and APC have fielded not so desired candidates.

The day you start participating, all candidates will put you into the equation. Politics is a give and take business - atleast in Nigerian standards. You don't participate, nobody cares about you. Emir of Kano, Abdullahi Bayero in his Cadillac V8 314 Custom Phaeton (1155) Car
Date:1931

Abdullahi Bayero CBE CMG dan Muhammad Abbas (1881–1953) was Sarki (Emir) of Kano, with headquarters in Kano, Kano State, Nigeria from 1926 to 1953.As a traditional ruler he had extensive powers under the British colonial authority

Bayero was born in 1299 AH (1881). He received his early Islamic education at the Sarki’s palace and he was guided by the prominent Islamic scholars of his time.

He was appointed Sarki Kano in April 1926 and was formally installed on 14 February 1927.

Kano city was the first place in the North to have electricity and a water supply on a large scale. This was chiefly the result of the initiative of Abdullahi Bayero, who proposed in 1927 that surplus funds in the Native Administration accounts be used to provide an electricity and a water supply for the whole of Kano. Until then, these services had been supplied only to the Government area

Sarki Kano Abdullahi Bayero was the first Sarki to perform the Hajj, hence he is popularly known as Sarki Alhaji. He was accompanied on this journey by his younger brother Galadima Abdulkadir and Ma’aji Mallam Sulaiman, who later became the first Walin Kano.

NetValueFX:

In Nigeria it doesn't make much changes the one you are. I am a Civil Engineer and I have friends who are Architects. In the eyes of the average country man we are all called Engineers because all of us collect building contracts and majority of us the Engineers draw also. Architects don't draw for me, as a matter of fact only few of them will create something better can I would. Only few knows the difference. Bottom line, which ever you choose , broadening your knowledge is a must because in this country na who draw house dey build am.
Unless you are planning to work for a company then you might consider Civil Engineering because their are more openings for their vast area of discipline than Architecture.
However, if you want to be independent, Architecture will start paying you quite early and going fully professional with your ARCON is quite faster than joining COREN.
Oga you can only out do quack and useless architects when it comes to drawings. You maybe able to draw so called houses albeit with a lot of mistakes but you will never be able to design large and complex buildings. Another thing, getting COREN reg is way simpler than getting ARCON reg; you only need your Bachelors degree plus some years experience but for ARCON you need a masters degree. Plus COREN is riddled with corruption. We hear how our colleagues narrate how easy it is to get registered with COREN.

This is the most accurate reply on this thread. The monicker that wrote about the earth experiencing night and day at different time is so wrong. There are places on earth that do not always experience night, so will that mean they won't experience pre-meridian (pm)? Many people didn't pay attention in geography class.
Wrong: time zones have nothing to do with the equator which is a line of Latitude. Times zones are related to Longitudes and as such his assertion is wrong. Don't compare time zones with days and nights. They differ in some aspects.
