I don't know if those tears are crocodile tears, but the impact of that vandalism and looting on maternal and child health in Kogi State is going to be profoundly negative.
Immunization coverage will drop drastically in the coming months. This means that increased number of children will become vulnerable to life-threatening, vaccine-preventable diseases. Also, hospitals and health centers will soon run out of essential drugs. Patients will have to buy these drugs from wherever and at higher cost.
The damage is huge enough to make any Commissioner of Health that truly loves his people to weep. |

SegFault: I don't care all I know is that yahoo boys should be given the death sentence along with corrupt public officials, this does not correlate with what you wrote. As for SARS they should be reformed and taken off the streets. Maybe I misunderstood you. My point is that SARS should face the task for which it was established, which is to combat armed robberies, and leave the fight against cyber crime and corruption to the relevant bodies charged with that responsibility. |

SegFault: If they are shouting end SARS then they should introduce death sentence for yahoo boys and corrupt public officials. Simple. But it's not the work of SARS to fight cyber crime. SARS is an anti robbery squad for heaven's sake! |

victorian: I will marry. I'm not a lesbian And I will never be.
I'm in a blessed relationship with my man. Hes the best man I can ever ask for. Thats why I said some men in that evil category, I didn't say all men are like chacha husband.
Some men are good. Mine is very good and I'm so blessed to have him in my life.
I've dated demons in men's clothing but God saved me from their evil. I ran like never before until I met my Prince D. The only man who knows what it takes to care and love a worthy woman like myself with holding back.
God will forever keep him away from evil eyes like yours! Amen! My sister, I am happy you like your man. But small small with the shower of praise. I'm sure Chacha must have said same of her husband. In most cases, relationship before marriage is always sweeter and more intoxicating than after marriage. Please don't get me wrong, you have my best wishes. |

For those advising the op to go for the lecturing job, did you read that the private University does not want him to go for his PhD until after 3 years with them. Which progressive institution does that? |
Career › Re: Secondary School Teaching Vs Lecturing: Which Of These Two Jobs Should I Choose? by Samcent: 11:57am On Oct 07, 2020 |
Mayflowa: I am a lecturer in a federal university currently studying abroad. When I saw your comparison, I almost call you a fool for deliberating a university job over secondary school job until I saw this. The private university is not towards your best interest. A university employer is suppose to hammer on faculty growth not the other way round. Don't even imagine you can get extra money from this university. You would be sacked! And why are they giving you such long hours of work( 10 hours per day). This is the kind of place that would use you and drain you. I will advice you go talk to new employees in the school to see are they are coping. Please go for the exploits with your fiancee so she will get firsthand account. She is scared you making the wrong decision while she is alive. Right now, she is sold on names. Of course, she won't leave you. I think it is best for you to continue your secondary school job and start studying toward your PhD. Write standard text books in your subject area. I believe you will get a good university after your PhD. Most importantly, you should be looking towards writing GRE and applying to US universities. PhD students are paid like N500k monthly to be a student. Follow the application process on TRAVELS Op, diligently consider this advice. Thanks Mayflowa. |

What I so dislike is bringing marriage issues to social media.
And I am beginning to believe that social media has done more harm than good to marriages.

abdullahi45: I agree with the latter but not the former..
One thing people don't understand is, microbiology is the most ubiquitous discipline I have ever seen. Come to think of it, a microbiologist can decide to delve into public health, just like a medical doctor. A microbiologist can go into bioinformatics, immunology, vaccinology, biotechnology, et cetera. Not to talk about the ever-extensive branches of microbiology itself, such as water, pharmaceutical, soil, industrial, environmental, petroleum, medical, et cetera. I mean, I don't think anyone would ever regret studying microbiology, if at least the person has the right mentality and tools about opportunities around him and how to exploit them maximally.
Finally, when you study a course, don't limit it to Nigeria, please look beyond your shore, dare to change the world and get the best from whatever you study.
Disagree with this? I agree that there are many specialization options for a microbiologist but exploring those options is easier said than done. Also, leaving the country is easier said than done for the average Nigerian. I have a degree in microbiology with over six years experience in public health practice. I have colleagues with degrees from engineering, different science courses, arts, education etc, many of them doing very well; trust me microbiology does not give me any advantage. The juice is not worth the squeeze! The lecturers in the department - some are my friends - know the challenges ahead of their graduates but since they already have a job they are less bothered. I am not here to convince anyone of anything, just airing my opinion. Like many have noted, it's not the course you studied but the grace of God that will take one to the top. |

Uyi168: Op, I just God beg u.. Remove microbiology from your list... Seconded! The inclusion of microbiology has discredited that list. And let me remind the op that a degree in microbiology does not qualify one to work in a medical laboratory. |

justebuka: Exactly ooo Their comments is not encouraging Agreed, some of the comments maybe discouraging but it is the harsh truth! There's no need to sugar coat it. This is not to scare anybody but to help prepare for the reality ahead. I still wish I was well primed for life after university. Instead I was told to just study hard, get a good grade and a good job is assured. The reality shock I got after school almost sent me into depression. Apart from the north(except Abuja), there's no part of this country I didn't travel to in search of a job. I have slept in a motor park in the quest for a job. I am grateful to God that life is better for me today but I always tell whoever cares to listen the truth as it concerns education and jobs in this country. My advice: Whatever it is that you are studying, by the side, learn how to generate income on your own, learn how to increase 1kobo to 2kobos. Ask yourself if I don't get a job with this certificate, how do I intend to survive. Answer that question and you are good to go. My 2cents! |
Education › Re: UNN Graduate Puts Up Bsc, NYSC Certificates For Sale Over Lack Of Job by Samcent: 1:54pm On Sep 03, 2020 |
Any tertiary education that does not equip one will relevant skills is a complete waste of time in this country. As far as I am concerned, except you are going for any of the medical courses or you have a 'sure connection', there are many courses you must stay clear from. What most of our universities are offering is of no use in the labour market and there seems to be no attempt to change the narrative except for some private universities. It's high time we started placing less emphasis on university education and more on vocational studies and skills acquisition. |
