PoliticsRe: 10, 000 Girls To Be Repatriated To Nigeria (from Morocco And Libya) by samparian(m): 5:51am On Jun 30, 2009
i dont doubt this post. there are too many nigerians abroad and more are looking for the means to flee.
sometime last year, 36 nigerians were arrested in a single raid by Chinese immigration and later deported when the fines and ticket fees were paid.

Just like i earlier stated,
the poster has stired the hornets nest and insults are now flying left, right and center.
This is very unhealthy.

And where is the "stupid ignoramus" who started this tread?

i totally agree that old names are being recycled in nigerian politics.

Nigeria is a place where the results of elections are decided in someone's living room, months before the elections even take place.
the only place they have a bit of trouble is in the Primaries of their various parties. Believe that!!
PoliticsRe: Is Lt. Col. Ojukwu Still In Nigeria. by samparian(m): 6:21am On Jun 29, 2009
bear in mind the Ojukwu was Military governor of eastern region while Gowon was Ironsi's chief of army staff. and they were all close.

PoliticsRe: Is Lt. Col. Ojukwu Still In Nigeria. by samparian(m): 6:12am On Jun 29, 2009
My Dear, Ojukwu is a big part of Nigerian History which cannot be erased.
personally i dont think he's part of our future.

Like i said earlier, those who mention his name always want to bring up arguements on if He was right or wrong. I dont want to go into details of what transpired in what i consider Nigeria's darkest moments, but let it be known, that Ojukwu and Gown were driven into war by the British government who adviced Gowon not to honor the Aburi accord he had signed in Ghana.

On Biafra, i know for sure that is a mirage, a dream for dis illussioned minds. Not all Igbos believe in Biafra right now. We believed in it then as the only option, but not right now(most of us)
what is happening in the Niger delta right now is exacly what happened in Biafra. aerial, sea and land attack on villages and settlements, while the rest of the country go about their daily business

PoliticsRe: Is Lt. Col. Ojukwu Still In Nigeria. by samparian(m): 5:05am On Jun 29, 2009
@ Kobojunkie,
I dont blame Nuzo for questioning the posters motive, because we all know that anytime Ojukwu is mentioned, it'll spark tribal sentiments. Ojukwu did what he thought best in the interest of a particular tribe, the Igbos.
so mention Ojukwu, Biafra and Igbos, you definitely want tribal sentiments flying.

As an Igbo man and a student of history and also a survivor of the Religious(cartoon) riots/killings of christains/igbo in Maiduguri on Febuary 29th 2006, i understand what Ojukwu and igbos went through in the 60s.

I respect Ojukwu but i know that Biafra is not the solution to our problems.

TV/MoviesRe: Can Nollywood And Bollywood Ever Work Together? by samparian(m): 3:14am On Jun 29, 2009
omar22:
Most foreigners / foreign film-makers are looking for a cheap site to shoot their films, the Americans were not happy with Peter Jackson because he decided to shoot the blockbuster movie Lords of the Ring in newzealand, Wesley Snipe's films are being shot in Eastern Europe, It would be a great Idea if they invest in Nigeria
@omar22
true. Foriegn fim makers are looking for cheap sites but the cheap sites MUST have standard equipments. You certainly dont expect them to fly all their equipments to New zealand? Do You know what it'll cost?? They come with some, but definitely need many other stuff to be on location
Do you know that the opening scenes of Mummy 2 were shot in Morocco? Universal studios just flew in Crew members, The Rock and cast local actors as his soldiers. Then brought in their props, and hired some equipments from a Studio in Morocco and took the shots they wanted.

Before we see foriegn investors, we MUST have at least one or two standard Movie studios in Nigeria
TV/MoviesRe: Can Nollywood And Bollywood Ever Work Together? by samparian(m): 7:17am On Jun 28, 2009
Our camera men are not meant to climb walls or vehicles for overhead shots. there are equipments for that, but very few producers can afford to buy or even hire it lipsrsealed

TV/MoviesRe: Can Nollywood And Bollywood Ever Work Together? by samparian(m): 7:06am On Jun 28, 2009
I'm not sure we have a single Movie studio in the whole of Nollywood. imagine! and we say we're competing with Bollywood that has Hundreds with standard movie equipments

TV/MoviesRe: Can Nollywood And Bollywood Ever Work Together? by samparian(m): 6:52am On Jun 28, 2009
I travelled to Hong Kong in 2000 and met with some reputable producers there and discussed what it would cost to shoot some scenes of a movie script i had written.
I had wanted to enter Nollywood with a big Bang.
To shoot just 17 scenes in hong kong would cost me about 1.2million naira then(excluding post production). the total 17 scenes of the movie would take up about 30 mins of the movie.
They gave me the layout and total cost, number of staff to be hired, fees to be paid to government etc. Now, these excluded the cost of flying in a Nigerian actor to play his part there.
I came back to Nigeria and talked to the CEO of Solid Production so we could collaboarate and produce the movie and he would market it.
The guy was scared shitless and said he was better off producing his normal movies even when i volunteered to pay for the Hong Kong shooting and expences of the Nollywood star who would go there.
After trying to involve some other marketers who declined, i also talked to actor Olisaemeka Ugwunze (Rattlesnake), he was excited but couldnt invest. After a while I forgot about Nollywood till 2007 when i was in Nigeria briefly, i was invited to supervise the production of The Kings Crown staring Nonso Diobi, Mercy Johnson, Jackie Appiah, etc.

The point of this my deviation is that our Nollywood producers cannot afford to produce a standard movie because we cant get back our investments based on DVD sales alone.
we are always impatient and want scripts that are written within a week.
A producer once approached me and asked that i give him an epic story within One week, because Igodo was doing so well in the market, every other producer wanted to produce an epic. i told him i couldnt. I currently working on a story and i've not finished it since 2004. And i intend to produce it myself when i'm through.

Just check the Nollywood market(if you're in Naija), you'll see that every producer brings out almost a similar story line.
action movies come out from various producers at once, same goes for comedies, occultic, romance, campus runs, etc. total rubbish!!!
we need to move beyond our borders to progress and the only way to do that is serious investments in statndard equipments, good stories and international collaboration
PoliticsRe: Is June 12 A Bad Date? by samparian(op): 2:19am On Jun 27, 2009
True, it will be a problem if conducted on 25th december or on whatever date you set it because OUR democracy was killed at conception.
nobody trusts the system again.

After June 12 annulment, our political and religious crises escalated. READ YOUR HISTORY.
same thing is now happening to Iran
PoliticsRe: Is June 12 A Bad Date? by samparian(op): 3:56pm On Jun 26, 2009
I meant that June 12 seemed to be a bad date to hold a presidential election. In other words, is it a bad day politically? I've checked as much as i can on the web and only Nigerian and Iranian elections appear to be significant politically on June 12.

@dnex
how in God's name do you know that Abiola's death is the best thing to happen to Nigeria.
Do you know that the annulment of June 12 presidential election ruined Nigeria politically? As a student of History and Government, i know that the 1993 elections were the freest and fairest elections held in Nigeria. There were no voilence, or stealing of ballot boxes, no assasinations and kidnappings and Nigerians who are very skeptic about each others religions, jointly voted 2 muslims and both President and vice, something which i doubt will easily occur now.

June 12 annulment killed our democracy at conception

It seems you just want run away from Nigeria but i pray thats not the case.
Singapore and Nepal. I'm sure of these two countries. But you must have not less than $3000us as BTA or you'll be sent back.
So if you're thinking of seeking greener pastures, and you've got tha kind of money on you plus your airfare which is almost 200k, why not stay in Nigeria and focus on what you're doing.
800k is a large chunk of dough bro

PoliticsIs June 12 A Bad Date? by samparian(op): 3:09am On Jun 26, 2009
i've been thinking about this since the Iran elections which was held on June 12 2009.
Nigeria held an election on June 12 1993 and we all know how that resulted.
Iran recently held their own elections on June 12 this year and look at whats happening.
Mayhem and destruction and cries of election malpractice and stealing of mandate.
Please is this date Jinxed or is it just a freakish coincidence? what do you think??

TV/MoviesRe: Can Nollywood And Bollywood Ever Work Together? by samparian(m): 6:26am On Jun 25, 2009
May i have your attention please.

i'm not here to compare Nollywood and Bollywood, because there's no comparison. Till date, we cannot make or match Bollywood movies of 1980 or even 1975.
Like Hollywood, Bollywood recovers its investments from Cinemas. Nollywood has no cinema tradition because of insecurity, So we only get back our money from direct sales of DVDs.
Some producers dont get back their investments after shooting a movie.
I've supervised a movie production a couple of years back and i've also featured in a movie so i know what i'm talking about.

I've also witnessed movie productions in Asia so i know we are in two different worlds. they shoot their movies on celluliod while we recently graduated from Betacam to HDVCAM. Even the HDVCAM is hired by our producers. 90% of our producers do not own any equipment because those equipments are very expensive and that is why we produce movies faster than akara balls so as to reduce cost of production.

Nollywood and Bollywood can work together if:
1. There is a good story that can bring them together
2. Real investors from Nigeria willing to finance/ co produce such a story
3. Patience of the Nigerian investor ie willingness to wait for like 6 months minimum for production.

when we have this, we can work together. Bolloywood doesnt need us to progress, we need them to move ahead.

FamilyRe: Husbands Who Beat Their Wives by samparian(m): 2:22am On Jun 21, 2009
@seun
Get married and experince first hand.

@all
Happy are those who marry one who loves and understands them, for there will be no violence.
Even the Bible acknowledges that there are spiteful women.
"A good wife is her husbands pride and joy ;but a wife who brings shame on her husband is like a cancer in his bones". proverbs 12;4
"Homes are made by the wisdom of women, but are destroyed by their foolishness", proverbs 14 ;1
"better to live on the roof than to share a house with a nagging wife", proverbs 21;9

My mum is the zonal leader of Catholic Women's Organisation and there was a time i was in naija on a visit. i stayed at my mum's and God, i heard so many things that my ears were full but a case interested me so much that i was glad i was still in Naija for the grand finale between the couple.
Mr A came to my mums one evening and complained to my mum to warn and advice his wife. they'd been married for 11 years and the man had never spoken one vile word to his wife nor even contemplated beating her.
He said he had taken her insults and nagging quietly for 11 years and his reason for coming to complain to my mum was this:
He had returned home from the shop, the previous day to find his children hungry and his wife absent. He went into the kitchen and cooked some beans for the kids and they had dinner. when the wife came back, he ignored her and went to bed because he didnt want to start a quarell.
In the morning, he went to his shop and then around noon, his wife came to his shop carrying THE POT OF BEANS he had cooked the previous evening.
She tongue lashed him in the market in the full glare of the public and showed them the pot of beans, saying he was a lousy cook and a disgrace. Imagine!!!
Mr A said he felt as if the ground should open and swallow him. What he had hidden from the public for 11 years had come out in the open. She had disgraced him beyond repair in his business area. He closed his shop and went straight to the church and wept. he stayed there till evening and then came to see my mum.

I just stood there in shock and disbelief. I had never seen a man who would take that kind of bullsh*t.
My mum thanked him for confiding in her and praised his restraint. She promised to talk to the wife, and she later did. Though i wasnt home when the wife came, i heard she claimed she had not finished dealing with her husband and that he would never dare raise a finger against her.

A week later, i had just returned from an outing and saw a woman wailing in my mum's living room. When i asked whats up, My mum just looked at me and said she's Mr. A's wife and he had thrown her out after slapping her around like Amitah Bachaan. I grinned and sat down to hear the full gist.

Guess what happened.
she assualted Mr. A's younger brother who came to see him and denied him entrance into their apartment. The brother did not retaliate. he just stood outside with the gathered crowd and waited for Mr A to return. on hearing what happened from both nieghbors and his brother, Mr. A sprang into action like a wounded lion.

Now, Seun if you had a wife like this(God forbid. its not your portion) what would have been your action?
this is a true story guys. i didnt make this up.
FamilyRe: Why Are The Nigerians In The Uk Stingy ? by samparian(m): 1:30am On Jun 21, 2009
True, rents in Lagos are high depending on location and choice. the most expensive places in Naija are Lagos, Abuja and PH but there are still cheap areas within these mentioned locations.

Abroad is a whole different ball game. we try to live in the cheapest decent areas and the rent is still F**king high. what i pay here a year for a 2 bedroom apartment is the same with what my uncle pays for his duplex in Festac Lagos. And i live in a cheap area o!
people dont consider that we've got to pay rent, feed, and pay utility bills and then save money. Most guys here cant even afford to buy a bottle of Budwieser, let alone go clubbing.
FamilyRe: Why Are The Nigerians In The Uk Stingy ? by samparian(m): 4:36am On Jun 20, 2009
The question should be, Why do Nigerians always beg money from their relatives abroadhuh

what nonsense!!
i live abroad and so does my immediate kid brother and everyone has his mobile number and they keep disturbing the poor boy for one help of the other.
Last year, one of our cousins called and begged him for help. he complained he wasnt doing anything in alaba market and needed some money to set up his own business. My brother sent him 300euros. The next week, the guys mother called my brother to thank him and also beg for some small money to use and offset her debts shocked shocked

My brother called me and informed me of the development and i laughed and told him thats why i frequently change my mobile number. No matter what you give, they'll still ask for more.
They think living abroad is easy. they should TRAVEL AND SEE

FamilyRe: Whats Next For A 32 Year Old Nigerian Male? by samparian(m): 4:09am On Jun 20, 2009
Seriously, at 32, an average Nigerian male should really be married or planning that.
Marriage does not stop you from attaining your goals, no matter what they are.

i think our friend here is scared of marriage. He's scared of commitment because he's "rich and comfortable" and he believes that every woman that comes his way is because of his money.

Bro, i'm also 32 and the reason i've not settled down yet is because i dont want to marry a white woman and i'll be coming back to naija soon to get a wife.
True, marriage is filled with uncertainities but we must take that leap of Faith. Not just the guys, but the ladies too.
there are girls out there who are also scared shitless about marriage cos they dont know the kind of guy they'd be married to.

I've got friends who their net worth tripled after they got married.
Get married, and have kids and watch your kids grow. you can play soccer with your kids and attend their school functions as a "happening dad" not a grey old man!!
where's the fun in having kids when you're 45?? by the time your son is 15, you'll be 60 shocked wake up bro
