This piece may be hard for dogmatic Christians to digest, largely because they, as dogmatic as they are, have never been encouraged to think on their own and in turn, find out the truth concerning some of the practices I'm about to mention. Therefore, I apologize to anyone who feels slighted or angry at any/every part of my write up which I consider a "hardball". Please be open minded as you take your time to read through this piece. 1. Statues, Symbol of Christ/Mary in Churches is a sin: https://news.bbcimg.co.uk/media/images/55915000/jpg/_55915655_cristo_riotur2.jpg God, through Exo 20:3-6 makes His intention known. "Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me."If you attend a church where symbols, statues of Christ, Mary or Angels are mounted within its premises or you have one at home, then know you're on your own. Christ never commanded this and every action put up in the Old Testament concerning this was purely condemned. You have no business with that statue! (Also read: 1 John 5:21; 1 Cor 10:14). If you have a cross, statue, rosary or image depicting Christ in your home or church, then you are in the congregation of the dead. 2. The Worship of Mary: https://www.jesus-is-savior.com/False%20Religions/Roman%20Catholicism/Mary2.jpg The worship or "honour" accorded to Mary by some within the Christian fold is nothing but a misleading. Mary WAS a fortunate vessel used by God to birth Christ. She was a virgin at the time, just like most ladies of then. God could have used anyone. In short, God used anyone and that person was Mary. The Worship of Mary or mentioning her during prayer is a sin. Why? Christ gave a template fro prayer through the Lord's prayer. Mary went on to birth several other children through sexual form with Joseph. https://www.jesus-is-savior.com/False%20Religions/Roman%20Catholicism/catholic_idolaters.jpg “The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the QUEEN OF HEAVEN...that they may provoke me to anger” —Jeremiah 7:18 Notice the Halo around Mary (especially her head). That is an idolatrous practice of Christians which symbolizes deity (that she is equal with God). The Babylonians practiced the same idolatrous worship to the Queen of Heaven. Mary is NOT deity, she was a normal every-day woman. God makes CLEAR in His Word that He will NOT share His glory with another (that includes Mary). http://www.jesus-is-savior.com/False%20Religions/Roman%20Catholicism/bowing_to_mary_is_a_sin.htm 3. Church Marriage: https://cache.elizabethannedesigns.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/Traditional-Chicago-Catholic-Church-Wedding-Ceremony-600x400.jpg This is perhaps a practice Christ would never be happy with. Why? The church from the onset has no right joining a couple together. Never! "He who finds a wife finds a good thing, And obtains favor from the Lord. - Proverb 18:22"When a man and a woman agrees to marry, as far as they have sought both parents' consent, then they have God's favour and not the church's. Unfortunately, most churches prioritize this practice even more than the traditional wedding which started with Abraham's family in the Old Testament Then he loaded ten of Abraham’s camels with all kinds of expensive gifts from his master, and he traveled to distant Aram-naharaim. There he went to the town where Abraham’s brother Nahor had settled. 11 He made the camels kneel beside a well just outside the town. It was evening, and the women were coming out to draw water... Then the servant brought out gold and silver jewelry and articles of clothing and gave them to Rebekah; he also gave costly gifts to her brother and to her mother. - Genesis 24: 10 and 53. Most ladies even live for the moment of church wedding without realizing the practice is wrong. Does it not baffle us as Christians that the wedding at Cana Christ attended was neither conducted in a temple or on a religious ground? Does it not speak volume, that despite being Christ, He did not lay any example as to how weddings should be conducted in the Scripture? Western wedding tradition has crept into the Nigerian church and our pastors are even outdoing those who started it. Amazing! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_wedding 4. Christmas: https://media-2.web.britannica.com/eb-media/62/550x367x147462-004-5ED6E913.jpg.pagespeed.ic.7mxURrhh39.jpg Ah... Everyone loves this season. Who doesn't? Everyone feels it and breathes it when it is near. Unfortunately, the origin of December 25 is idolatry. Christ was never born on the 25th of December. Christ said, “But in vain they do worship Me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men” (Matt. 15:9). Christmas is not a command of God—it is a tradition of men. Christ continued, “Full well you reject the commandment of God, that you may keep your own tradition” (Mark 7:9). Every year, throughout the world, on December 25th, hundreds of millions do just that! Read more on the origin of Christmas here: http://www.hope-of-israel.org/cmas1.htm 5. Tithe: https://allchristiannews.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/tithing.jpg At this point, I know many will come for me. Therefore, this may be longer to drive my point home. Tithing started with Jacob and not on God's instruction, contrary to the belief of many people. 20 Then Jacob made this vow: “If God will indeed be with me and protect me on this journey, and if he will provide me with food and clothing, 21 and if I return safely to my father’s home, then the Lord will certainly be my God. 22 And this memorial pillar I have set up will become a place for worshiping God, and I will present to God a tenth of everything he gives me.” - Genesis 28:20-22.Voila! And it started. But what was the original tithing system before the popular Malachi 3:10 method. 22 Thou shalt truly tithe all the increase of thy seed, that the field bringeth forth year by year. 23 And thou shalt eat before the Lord thy God, in the place which he shall choose to place his name there, the tithe of thy corn, of thy wine, and of thine oil, and the firstlings of thy herds and of thy flocks; that thou mayest learn to fear the Lord thy God always. 24 And if the way be too long for thee, so that thou art not able to carry it; or if the place be too far from thee, which the Lord thy God shall choose to set his name there, when the Lord thy God hath blessed thee: 25 Then shalt thou turn it into money, and bind up the money in thine hand, and shalt go unto the place which the Lord thy God shall choose: 26 And thou shalt bestow that money for whatsoever thy soul lusteth after, for oxen, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for whatsoever thy soul desireth: and thou shalt eat there before the Lord thy God, and thou shalt rejoice, thou, and thine household: 26 And thou shalt bestow that money for whatsoever thy soul lusteth after, for oxen, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for whatsoever thy soul desireth: and thou shalt eat there before the Lord thy God, and thou shalt rejoice, thou, and thine household, The passage above was the proper way of tithing; use your money to buy what your soul lust after and eat before God. Why pastors don't preach this, I don't know. Greed, perhaps. Christ while on earth in human form taught man all he needed to know about God's worship and living with fellow men. From prayer, to fasting, to offering, to giving, to sacrificing, etc. What did He say about tithing? Nothing! What did the Apostles teach about tithing? Nothing! As a matter of fact, Christ paid tax to an earthly government, prayed, fasted, gave, sacrificed and so on, but did He pay tithe at all? No! Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. - Hebrews 12:2 I know many will claim "we operate both the Old and the New Testament". If this is true, how come we don't practice some of the commandments in in Leviticus 15 1. As the Old Testament practice, a woman with her monthly flow MUST not come near the Temple because she's unclean. Do churches examine this? NO! Save a few (white garments). 2. When a woman is caught in the act of adultery, the Old Testament practice was instant killing by stoning her to death. Does it happen in Christianity today? No! If we operate both Testaments, how come we cannot carry out this act? Simple! Because Christ demonstrated the perfect example - forgiveness. Under Christ, some Old practices were abolished, including tithing which is an Old Testament practice to the then Israel. It is hypocrisy to pick some parts of the Scripture that suits you and dump the rest. There, you know which is which. Which should be abolished and which should be done away with. Happy Sunday ![]() |
And who is the idiot_ that snapped them ![]() I don't blame the kids, I blame those who were asked to watch after them. No sensible human will take pictures of kids this way. |
aalangel:She's allergic to clothes, just like Flavour ![]() |
daomi:Just wait for the execution of King and see the reaction of certain people who would claim "Buhari" ordered the court to "kill him" just because he (Buhari) does not like some persons. |
mmsen:It's funny how you remain bitter as an Atheist. It would be better you face the discourse at hand. You could engage me the next time I stroll through the religion section, possibly this evening. Regardless, you need not sound bitter or angry to push your belief on others ![]() |
jkendy:Imo to be precise. I read the entire piece and I was able to deduce that the bride price is weighty. With his 43k monthly job, he couldn't use part which he had probably been saving for months to settle his girlfriend's family. This singular act is what is making them turn from their own girls. Africans... We're just too backward. |
slap1:Lemme hear word biko. TELL was and is still the best news mag in Nigeria. Say what you know, boy ![]() |
Vanquay:Your post makes no sense. You rushed into conclusion by saying she just played herself while failing to ask why he is a divorcee. And yes, again you made no sense when you claimed she's infatuating just because the relationship or their meeting is just five weeks, which to any sane person is enough to create a spark. They communicate often and that is enough to create fondness, likesness and then love. Why you put up a rebuttal, kindly answer this questions: 1. How long does it take to like someone? 2. How long does it take to love someone? 3. How long does it take a woman to say yes to a man she likes? OP, it is only normal he doubts you. Apologize and give him reasons why you lied in the first place. Your age is not the problem to him, trust me. There's a belief that a lady who can lie about her age to someone dear to her can lie over anything. The trust he gave you for free has been dashed. You have to earn his trust and make him trust you again. |
udatso:To us, Change is magic and it must come from those we voted in while failing to do that which is expected of us. It's like doing the same thing every time while expecting a different result. Lalasticlala, Mynd44, please help here. |
udatso:That's the most important thing. Unfortunately, should this present government step in, people will scream "we're being taken back to the 80's". Perhaps we should blame illiteracy, I honestly don't know. Thanks. |
chriskosherbal:Solve it together? How The truth is, we are blinded by greed and often times care less about how the man next door feels because we're gaining and taking advantage of the present moment. Only God can soften the heart to make our people sensitive in harsh times as this. |
dsquare33:And eventually they would blame the government for the harshness of the economy without realizing the rippling effect of their actions. |
Nigerians are perhaps the most opportunistic people on earth. With the recent hike in the Dollar against the Naira at the parallel market, One would think "hoarders" and traders have been praying for this moment to happen. They smile when they sell to you under the aegis of "Dollar has gone up" yet groan and blame Buhari when they themselves buy things they need to survive. The recent hike in "pure water" price, from Lagos to Benin, to Enugu, one would realize after careful analysis that these people have no business increasing the prices of their products just because they intend to make horrible profits. There's a big difference between ripping off and making profits, and the former is what most have resorted to. Just recently I called a popular sachet water company in Enugu here to supply me with water that would last me for a month, the owner, whom I spoke with on the phone intimated me that the initial selling price of N80 per bag had been abandoned and the new price is N100. His reason? "The Dollar has gone up". I had no choice but to settle for it, asked him to send his boys over after telling him how many I wanted. With the heat and terrible atmosphere, I had finished every water in the house while still thirsty. I dashed out of the house to get a bag from a retailer around. The one I had ordered for was taking too long and I couldn't stand it; I couldn't bring myself to wait for the pure water vehicle to arrive. To my amazement, the retailer just close to the house who had stocked even before the price of N100 per bag came into play told me he sells a bag for N150! "Why?" I mustered strength to ask him. "Are you not in this country?", he quizzed. "You no know say Dollar don cost?", he responded. I simply couldn't believe it. Let's pretend and just give it to him that he had bought his water at the rate of N100 per bag just like I confirmed from the man I spoke with on the phone, why wouldn't the retailer sell for N120 or N130? Why sell with a 50% profit just because everyone around him complains of the Dollar ![]() There are virtually goods cum products in the market that had long been stocked before the Dollar rise and then you discover that their prices jump off the roof all of a sudden for no reason. It is really saddening that we are the ones making life hard for ourselves. Worst of all, we are very much aware of this but would still not bat an eyelid. I find it baffling that we're quick to hike prices of goods and services and at the end of the day, find it hard to revert to the original price before the brouhaha responsible for the hike came into being. No one is saying profits should not be made, but when it becomes rip offs and cheap shots, then it shows that we are the most inconsiderate people ever. It shows that we are our own problems. |
raayah:My dear, no one sets out for no just cause. That you hate Nairaland men is not natural. It must have been as a result of the fact that you were hurt by one or many. It best explains why you are irked by them. I may be wrong though but one thing stands, you have been wronged by whoever and your being out to slay is not just solely for the fun of it but a vendetta. Finally, you have been running riot over this topic for a while. I strongly believe you are missing my point and don't seem to get my message. Tallesty1 has tried to make you see it through his eyes but it seems you're not in the same realm with him. Albeit, Misogyny and Feminism struggles are not for me. I take no pride in them in any way. |
raayah:The bolded tells a lot about what you perhaps have (been) passing through. |
ghostwritter:I thought I was the only one who noticed it. She had probably dated some wicked Nairaland guys or perhaps found herself in a relationship wherein she had been abused. I read through her words and could see the outburst of anger there. |
3 When a woman commits adultery, she will loose her children and her life as repercussion for the abominable act unless she confesses and as restitution, she is stri*ped completely unclad, a part of her head is shaved, a part of her private part is shaved, one of her armpits is shaved and both of her hands are tied behind her, while a basket full of trash is placed on her head. She is then paraded around the community by other women. These are also present in Urhoboland. Till tomorrow, Urhobo women married to Urhobo men don't toy with these two. |
cruzita:Wait, let me invite Farano, rocktation and Lalasticlala. |

naughtynaughty:That is where the problem lies, after watching the fantasies in these movies, some of the female folks will start looking for a replica of the affection and tenderness in these movies, forgetting that they're just movies. And then all of a sudden, you all realize that Nigerian men are not capable of romance and "True Love". The Nigerian man suddenly becomes archaic and outdated on emotional matters just because Don Pedro serenaded Martha and you go "awww, that should be me". Y'all need to snap out of it, for those involved. |
agabaI23:You're not making sense here. Corruption at play and you're blaming the President for this when all he has been doing is fighting corruption. The day you people begin to have sense is the day you start reasoning well. |
afoobabs:@the bolded, that really is my subliminal message. |
Viktor1983:Hahahahahaha The truth is Nollywood cannot bring itself to doing these kinds of soaps because that's not who we are. |
Antina:I honestly makes no sense when you generalize. To be candid, you destroyed your point with the bolded. That some men cheat doesn't mean all men cheat, and that some women cheat does not imply all women are cheats. There'll always be bad eggs among both sexes that would cause the other to say some unpalatable words. This your own is just the height of it. |
"There are two kinds of books; those that build you, help you grow and put you on course, and there are those that will destroy you, not because they are fetish but because they fail to follow realities." - Anonymous I have witnessed the effects of some of the movies we as Nigerians take delight in and I can say that they are unhealthy for our lives, emotional wise. For those who remember "Cuando Seas Mia" (When you're mine), being one of the very few first Spanish-Mexican movies that graced our Television set several years ago. Its effect on the average mind was not just of love and admiration but something more devastating beyond running to a neighbour's house to watch when there was power outage. Unfortunately, more of these soaps flooded our screens for no cost and then we thought it was a blessing. "When you're mine" was my first and my last. Even as a young man, I became squishy and sentimental and would act like I was some love-hungry fellow whose appetite for "True Love" was insatiable. The Utopian Love the soap preached seemed to have started and ended with the movie and could not be found in the real world, our world. I have seen in some cases where most ladies try to induct their love life with the practices of these "perfect" movies and soaps and the result? Epic fail. Poor ladies! Some dedicate days, some weeks venting their anger on the "insensitivity" of their man and how he does not know and appreciate what true love is. Korean season love movies, Philippines, Indian soaps, as well as Brazilian season love movies have terribly affected many, particularly our female folks. To some of them, there is love and there is TRUE LOVE. I can tell whether a man or a woman is a product Telemundo and co. upon hearing the words "True Love". Unfortunately for most ladies, they don't realize that these soaps follow a linear plot, whether Korean or Mexican; a boy and a girl fall in love but an obstacle stays in the way of their love. It's either a wife who is forced on the poor guy or an estranged wife who refused to divorce him for selfish reasons OR an unfortunate young girl finds love in the arms of the master and it takes the young, rich, handsome dude three seasons of the movie to notice the love and another two seasons to get her to look his way. Regardless, these soaps fail to focus on every day lives and some life's issues that could make relationships tiring at times. They fail to tell how difficult it can be with MTN's airtime sapping technique and how difficult it could take me to put a call through when I'm battling to ward off the sun from melting my brain. Rather, it's about a quest to finding the ultimate - TRUE LOVE. Newsflash, THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS TRUE LOVE! LOVE IS LOVE. If it's sole purpose is to use or take advantage of, then it was never love. The height of deceits are usually the types of "Strong Love" these people preach but our ladies don't seem to get this. They love to apply abstractions into becoming realities. These soaps cum movies have a way of blinding one's eyes to seeing harsh realities. It is unfair to equate one's relationship with the ones projected in these films. Way unfair! There are pressing issues in between relationships, which mostly involve keeping heart and soul together. A man cannot dedicate every minute of his life carrying "True Love" on his head like one would do Afro. Dear ladies, no one is asking you not to watch what you love or what makes you tick. Where the problem lies is comparing Diego and Paloma's love to yours and that of your man. It's a disaster waiting to happen. What is acted in films should stay in films. They're not worth losing your relationships over. |
I'm presently using the 6GB for 3000 on my Android device. truth be told, it's not a funny experience. The network disappears when it feels like and come when it pleases. just barely a week into my subscription, I can count how many times I have judiciously used my data. Glo is not trying in this regard. |

glossy6:You don't get it, do you? Most of these phones have been stocked ever since. It's not like they just started buying these phones and stocking it in their shops. Simply put, they hoard it and wait for the perfect opportunity to inflate the prices of the gadgets. |
Please cut her off. I see no reason why you should have kept quiet over the illegal connection in the first place. From her attitude, it shows she doesn't want it and is not in dire need of your generating set, else she would have come closer to you even just by greeting. She may not have the money to share in the filling of the fuel, but that is not to say she shouldn't put on some positive outlook. Cut her off. If she wants it desperately, she'd ask. It is only normal that you do so. I have a good neighbour who shares in mine but refused to connect our apartments together. He did my connection for my free of charge and I enjoy sharing the power with him without asking him to contribute in filling the tank. Why? He has played a vital role and I respect him for that. Although yours is a lady, she doesn't realize that what she is enjoying is as a result of a quiet fellow. Again, I say disconnect her wire from your generator. |
Your prices are a bit exaggerated. I bought the Prime II for 23k less than two weeks ago. The Infinx Hot 2 stands around 22k (for the 1G RAM) while the 2G RAM is sold for 24k. |
