FamilyWho Should Resign Between The Two Prospective Couple? by sapien(op): 11:49am On Jul 12, 2013
Nairalanders, this is about one of my brothers.
He met his fiancee at his place of work couple of months ago.
In about a month's time, they are gonna get hooked as man and wife.

Now, the policy of the accounting firm where they both work as staff is, two employees from the same company can't work at the firm at the same time as married couple, so one of them needs to step down.

Another problem is, the lady earns about #50,000 more than the my brother(from what he told me) and they are both at loggerheads on who to step down between both of them.
My brother says he doesn't see himself heading back to the labour market after their wedding.
His fiancee says, since she earns more than him, he should resign while they will set up a business together after their wedding, which the hubby would run.

Nairalanders, please, your advice is really needed here.
What should they do?

Intelligent opinions and contributions are highly needed as I'll forward it to them.

50calibre: When a man marries a woman, she becomes his property. He owns her completely and gets to decides what happens in the marriage.

You are violating the sanctity of marriage by trying to rub shoulders with your husband. You have to understand that a woman isn't equal to a man.

Go and read the bible, you would understand better. Pray to God to change his ways, worship him as next to God and he would change. If he doesn't then accept your fate and carry your cross gracefully.

EducationRe: Nigerian Students Generally Study The Wrong Majors At Undergrad Level by sapien(m): 5:09pm On Apr 17, 2013
Wow, what an interesting thread!
My post will be kind of lengthy, though.

When I was in junior high school, I had passion for English and Social studies, but my dad, as an academia, forced me into science department, in my senior high school.

I was woeful in Chemistry, Mathematics and Further Mathematics, I barely managed to pass Physics, though.
My fellow classmates, who were underperforming like me, knew that science wasn't their calling, and with immediate alacrity, changed to Arts department.

At the end of the session in Ss1, one of them who changed, became the best student.
When I told my dad I wanted to change, he went on a tirade of words, which forced me to remain in science class, amidst poor results.

Fast forward to when I was seeking for admission, my dad forced me to study Architecture, just because his colleague's son was studying the course and doing well.
I got admission into a polytechnic, and at the end of my first year, I had had three carry overs, considering the fact I had no prior knowledge of T.D and my F.maths was poor.

With the help of my older cousins and some church members, I was able to convince my dad that Arcitecture wasn't my line, and that was after two years of academic fruitlessness in the polytechnic.

At age 24, after I had wasted like 6 years of my life, I realized I would be better in the social sciences, I sat for another Wassce and JME, blasted my result at a sitting, and got admission to study Sociology.

Though, I'm presently studying History and Diplomacy in one of the second generation Federal University, 200level, and that was due to wrong subject combination in UTME.

I don't have any regret, though, I'm relishing the course with every breath of me, and blazing the trail in my department as well.

chuckdee4: You're clearly a tit if after reading all my posts you concluded that I was not happy for 1st class students being rewarded

Clearly ur negative IQ missed the part where i commended 1st class students and the concept of rewarding them.
Yes, I agree mediocrity is rewarded in Nigeria......heck all over the world, but who's rewarding those that strived just as hard as the 1st class students but failed due to various circustances.

You speak of a Nigeria where people are hustling to get on reality tv shows.
What of the Nigeria where lecturers fail students for not sleeping with them or not bribing them.

I know a friend who was told he failed his entire WAEC about 10 years ago, today he works with an oil company in Scotland, left to baboons like you, they guy should not have been given the time of day or a second chance because he did not get a first class.

My point once again for the deluded twats who can't read, 2nd class and even 3rd class students should equally have some sort of incentives for them set up because in as much their uni results were not impressive people change.
A plonker, that's who you are!
Keep basking in your self delusion!

It's glaring you can seem to think beyond your nose.
I can't continue to bicker with a cretin like you!

chuckdee4: Typical ignorant Nairalander who resorts to insults when they have no points to make.

I asked you about Bill Gates who did not finish college, does that mean he's a plank just like yourself
I personally know of people who have failed badly in uni due to circumstances beyond their control, that does not mean they should be profiled the way people like you and other institutions do.

If your slowness would let you reason you would see that i commended the act in the first place, my point is that people should look beyond the obvious, 2nd and 3rd class students still have loads to offer, planks like yourself will still want to use a 40 something year old man's uni result to judge him even though he finished uni 20 years ago.

As for me having a 3rd class, believe what you want to believe I don't have to prove eff all to you, would probably waste my time trying to reason with someone with such a low IQ
You are a foooooool!
Go and create another thread, if you wanna look beyond these intelligent guys, who strove hard to attain academic excellence!

A blind hater like you will never see beyond your nose to praise excellence!
In this time and age where Nigerian youths are jostling to pick up forms for Project fame, Glo Naija sings, Nigeria idol, Nigeria got talent and other wack and uninteresting shows, attaining and rewarding academic excellence is a step in the right direction.

It shows, despite all the distractions and stress in our Universities, people are still striving hard to prove their academic mettle, which will go a long way in motivating other first class and second class upper aspiring students.

If that's the case, you sound like one of those who slept their way or bribed their way to a 1st class.

People like you are the ones that believe that that 'My oga at the top' guy deserves his position.
People like you would never have given Bill Gates a a chance talk less of a job because he had no degree
STFU!
Just because you graduated with a third class or pass doesn't give you the justification to castigate those who strove hard to graduate with first class, and the Governor who rewarded academic excellence.

Like seriously, what the fuccck is wrong with some Nigerians?
