danladi02:Okponu. In the US even before some accused are charged to court, prosecutors go in camera to lay down the charges and evidence they have. This is someone that refused arrest, shielded by the governor and paid touts and is being called out by the EFCC chairman who went on to lay the extent he went to make this man honour EFCC summons. In US,even the attorney general and president would have publicly commented and denounced what Bello and Idodo did. Assuming it was during OBJ's time I am pretty sure Idodo would be running helter skelter looking for who to beg on his behalf to stop his almost certain impeachment by the state assembly. But that error of a grossly, incompetent and monumentally corrupt Buffon,Buhari started this level of impunity by goverment officials and bigwigs and now it's now a comedy of impunity |
omooba969:Infact if there is a phrase worse than empty heads, that's what they are |
adenigga:Stu pid journalist. In the report it was stated that the accused had fully refunded the sum of money. So you want him to pay double? Also,I am pretty sure that fine would be ₦20k and not ₦20. Glorified bloggers with poor education masquerading as journalists up and down. |
Dikegodspower:You can hate or disagree with someone but that doesn't mean you should hate every policy of his or that every policy is bad. Loans and credits are actually the bedrock of every economy. Nigeria cannot grow and reach its potentials if you must make full payment for a car, house and even items like phones and household electronics and needs before you acquire them. That is a stone aged way of growing an economy |
UTEWUOJO:Ok,now I get. Like some things in life, they may be getting away with it until you suffer a major loss arising from not printing out transaction. From what you said it seems not printing out receipts is now the norm for all the street and shop POS agents |
Richtaiwo:I don't think he meant the total alleged withdrawn dollars was used solely for the school fees |
First,I can bet anything that laboratory result is made up or padded. Why?I bet you have taken several drugs for malaria and typhoid before going for these tests, yet both results are still showing high levels of both. You probably don't even malaria and typhoid at all. Next thing they will diagnose subacute appendicitis. Even if you have to do a scan,do it somewhere else, preferably a reputable centre. Tests and investigations done in some laboratories have been turned to desperate money making ventures. You do malaria and typhoid 20 times in a month after treating each time after you do the tests ,in an average Nigerian lab and it will always show both, how is that possible! |
nifemi25:POS prints receipts,so how would this scam have been possible? Also some terminals even have a voice note telling you how much has entered and gone out of your account, immediately a transaction is made.So again, how would this scam have been possible? |
Namaster:That is 150k for every $10k the CBN sells to them.If it's done 10times a month, that is ₦1.5m profit for doing nothing more than being given dollars and handing it over to anyone that needs it! |
He is actually the most qualified and experienced local coach available. So as a local coach selection, the NFF has chosen the best. Hope he delivers on the job |
Obainoman6:You still have hands to type after you commented like a patient in a psychiatric ward? You will continue this your stupidity till one day when it would be treated and your foolishness gets what it desreves, several broken fingers so you won't type rubbish again. |
Appletek:Rubbish, nothing will happen. The best way is the one the Whiteman gave you, technology and through basic investigation and police work where they work the way they should. With the phone number the op dropped,it should ordinarily be easy for the police or bank to track then and recover that money, but no,you want to depend on one fake Alusi. With Alusi being so powerful, why are there still thieves, armed robbers and murderers in your part of the world where Alusi reigns supreme Where was Alusi when the Whiteman used just mirrors and combs to ship off thousands of slaves? Alusi kor, nkita ni! |
Obainoman6:The distance between you and sense is like that between Nigeria and the Red sea |
Saturnalia:Infact that is the part that is baffling. I for one believe without a doubt that Obi would have made a better president and was actually even rigged out.Atiku too was a preferable option than Babablublu, but for anyone to support the speculation that Crypto guys were doing and to be rejoicing over the then drastic and quickening devaluation of the ₦,is beyond comprehension, should not and cannot be encouraged unless u live abroad or are a crypto currency speculator. Therefore, any measure(s) taken by this goverment,no matter how hated Tinubu is,to reverse the depreciation and restore the value of the ₦ is supported 110%! |
The correct headline for this news should be:'Nigeria down to Africa's 4th largest economy' or 'Nigeria slips to...4th largest economy'. The use of become in this context is improper because it conveys a positive growth, whereas the news item shows that the economy will retrogress from the lofty first place it held some years back. |
Paraman:This is another Ademusiwa,the pyschotic nairalander,but with a better English grammar. |
Clowns. What of Akpabio,Wike. I don't believe any governor living, except perhaps Ibori, would rival any of these 2 in blanket state theft. Yet,they are walking free and enjoying further lootocracy because they are in the good books of APC. I feel it's that hypocritical mindset that gave Bello the guts to do what he did, feeling haunted while he sees his superiors in corruption walking the corridors of Aso Rock. |
NaijaSumigan:You people should at least sit down, look around and ask yourselves:with the level of religious followership and worship in Nigeria why is Nigeria still very backward in everything, while the likes of China that don't believe there is God,India that believes more in Hinduism are far more advanced. |
poiZon:The thing weak me! He is no better than the kidnappers we are all condemning. How can you make 15k from a 300k POS transaction. Even banks don't make such a profit from such 300k transaction |
I don't believe some of these government officials. Many of them are ill-informed and I wouldn't be surprised to read later that this version of what he said is not the correct position of things |
They will go and give to their girlfriends as a gift to enjoy more Puna. Those ones too will be bragging that they have the best boyfriends in the world, able to buy them iPhone and expensive gifts. |
nairalanda1:I take back that part of abuse. Just sometimes get fed up with posters on nland who react to every news based on their preconceived sentiments and on whose side of the divide they already belonged to,without dispassionately looking at the facts only |
nairalanda1:What exactly is your point? The Japanese yen is 150/$ The South Korean Yuan is 1370/$ These are 2 of the strongest economies in the world. A country's economic strength is not determined by the face value on it's currency, but on it's earning power, get that into your thick skull. |
What I just see in some of the responses is people wishing the ₦ continues doing badly and sad it's doing well. How can any sensible person living and earning within Nigeria in ₦ wish and hopes the ₦ continues sliding? This one just beats my comprehension. That's a whole new level of depravity. For some others asserting that this appreciation would soon lead to the wiping offf of our foreign reserves because they believe that is what the CBN is using to prop up the Naira, the question they should answer is this:does it mean Nigeria hasn't been earning any foreign exchange during these time and won't earn more as the days and months go by? |
LegendHero:Even if one is not a fan or supporter of Tinubu, the bolded is the is just the part that's annoying, that anyone living in Nigeria will be happy to see the ₦ depreciate in value is astounding. You can understand diaspora Nigerians wishing it's continued depreciation because it increases the purchasing power of their $ and £ and makes them tingods in Nigeria, but a Nigerian in Nigeria happy that your earnings in naira are depreciating at an alarming rate?Just unbelievable. |
Standard template by state governments/governors. Anytime they or their allies are being investigated or their allies about to be arrested and prisecuted, they run to their state courts and procure kangaroo judgements. Just that I know all these are shadow dressings by the EFCC because after all the noise and even subsequent arrest of Bello, nothing meaningful will come out from the case they have against him. I always liked the Obasanjo template, get these shitty governors impeached and their corrupt allies hounded. |
Wainey:Don't mind them. It's like Yahoo, people see yahoo guys living large and think it's like that. .Meanwhile only like 5% of yahoo guys make it,others are living from hand to mouth and endlessly waiting for a client to fall |
Oracle411:Instead of lamenting without taking action we all can do our bits by reporting on the various fora used. Nairaland has a report button, but most importantly places that give them money and exposure like YouTube,Twitter, Facebook have one too. Those are the places that when they are sanctioned, they would quickly change, unlike in nairaland where asides not losing anything by way of viewers, they can easily create another moniker and continue their deception and st upidity. |
This will go a long way to help the economy, though a less than ₦1000/litre diesel price would have been more ideal. If he starts producing petrol and can sell in the local market at max 500 and even less, that will be a game changer because asides reducing and stabilising prices,it would lead to further appreciation in the value of the Naira to less than even 900,800. A stronger naira is of benefit to not just the common man,but industries and businesses because they would use less naira to source much needed raw materials and machinery. Another thing is that the BUA refinery and even other modular ones should also come on board. Dangote has a very poor history in prices of his products if he enjoys monopoly. |
Good.Though know it's an afterthought after the hypocrisy of charging only Bobrisky for Naira abuse was exposed. What is good for Bobrisky is good for cubana |
phineas:Right from the day the story broke last year,it should have been clear to discerning minds, not just from a medical standpoint, but from facts surrounding the case, that those boys couldn't have killed oromoni. I remember after the initial outcry on SM,raised by the mum's accusations, other facts now started emerging,eg,from initial story that seemed like he died immediately after the " forced intake of a liquid substance",it later emerged that the parents came down, took him to PH,brought their doctor to treat at home, for typhoid and malaria,as is common with Nigerian "bigmen/women",it's even usually nurses they call because a well trained professional doctor would decline home treatment;they then took him to their church and their pastor do what they usually do,casting out the "devil of every demonic spirit",with likely strikes on his body and placing his hand on the sick boys head while shaking it up and down. After a few days, with the internal mileau deteriorating because he wasn't properly diagnosed and treated,he succumbed to his underlying disease. This is what probably even a blind course of broad-spectrum antibiotics and infusion would have prevented, but no,innocent kids must be made the culprits. It's the same scenario that was being played out in Mohbad's case, innocent people being accused of death by bullying. Tell me where has a healthy young man died not from suicide but as a direct result of bullying? When that didn't make sense, they found other culprits. As I said,it's because we are in a jungle,if not,2 things would have happened in a civilised clime in this Oromoni case after this verdict: (1)The parents of the 5 accused and now probably emotionally scarred for life kids would have instituted a civil lawsuit against the parents of oromoni for false accusation,SM bullying and emotional trauma of their children, demanding for at least ₦100m each. 2,the police would have had them arrested and prisecuted for the coroner's verdict of negligence. Also the family doctor would have been advised sanctioned by the medical and dental Council tribunal for unprofessional conduct. If we don't do these things, innocent people would continue being falsely accused and bullied by the SM court of Justice and believe me one day,an innocent people with low defence barrier would commit suicide from such false accusation. |
