Is Metuh guilty or not? it's like this...a black man who commits a crime in America gets maximum sentence...a white man who commits a crime in America get a slap on the wrist Is that a fair or racist system? Should we then say it doesn't matter what happened to the white man as far as the black man is guilty?

FrLukas: Why do you guys do this to yourselves?
You just want me to yab your director free of charge today.
There is nowhere in the post that mentions Kanu the fugitive who couldn't go home to bury both parents whom he killed with his wahala.
Do you want to know the definition of bravery?
Take a look at Sowore. Study the man very well. Look at his antecedents. Check out his profile and his achievements.
He was willing to give up his job as a lecturer in New York to fight for the masses.
When the worst came, he stood and faced it like a man that he is.
He has every opportunity to flee the country and never return.
Yet, he is in Abuja, obeying the terms of his bail.
Because he is a law abiding and very brave man.
His institution which he founded is the one that made this revelation we are commenting on.
Compare that level of bravery with the actions of the hunchback albino Kanu, who is deceiving himself and his gullible followers that they are Jews and Trump is coming to liberate them soon form Nigeria and so y'all should donate money to the cause.
Sowore has a master's degree and lectured in New York before going to Nigeria to fight for the masses.
Tell us the qualifications of Kanu and what his job was before he decided to stir the hornet's nest and play on his people's emotions and intelligence.
Go on, tell us... if kanu can be called a coward.... what do we call you who is even afraid to condemn buhari online because you don't want high bp? (forget sowore...he is brave too and has made up with kanu) |

Babacele: [s]if shagari had been left alone, poverty would have been an eldorado to what would have happened to Nigeria as his administration, just like GEJ's, had squandered the oil windfalls and the gains of the 70s , only to push the consequences of their indiscipline called austerity which Okonjo iweala captured not too long as recession on poor Nigerians. Nigeria was already in pains ,which led to Ghana- must -go among others , by the time Buhari came to resque the nation. But the hawks through IBB took over and unleash hell on Nigeria till 1999. 30 years later, after 16 years of fraud by the modern day NPN called PDP, it was Buhari that history beckoned to come save us again. @$120/ barrel of oil what did we get except lies which became too evident to deny when oil crashed to $30/barrel before we pushed the political robbers away once again to pave way for Buhari.

There are more people in middle class today than back then.
Ajegunle was a complete pig sty and telephones were for the rich.
There was no Magodo, Egbeda, Lekki or Ajah.
So what exactly is your point? my point is that public sector has collapsed and has made most Nigerians to turn to self help including trooping to every country out there as economic migrants Compare that to the 70s when most Nigerians out there were coming back from abroad to take up jobs here. And my point is that that wouldn't have been the case if public sector was not set in a downward spiral by successive military regimes who spent years as state sole administrators without any projects to their name while their civilian counterpart in the shagari era were creating legacies |

Culture › Bollywood And Nollywood Collide In A Tale Of A Big Fat Indian-nigerian Wedding by selemempe(op): 2:57pm On Feb 24, 2020 |
By Aisha Salaudeen, CNN Updated 1211 GMT (2011 HKT) February 24, 2020 Lagos, Nigeria (CNN)Two of the world's biggest movie industries, Bollywood and Nollywood have joined forces to produce a new movie about an inter-cultural love story. Titled 'Namaste Wahala' it is directed by businesswoman-turned-filmmaker, Hamisha Daryani Ahuja, who weaves a tale across two diverse and rich cultures -- India and Nigeria. 'Namaste Wahala' loosely translates to 'Hello trouble' and it is filmed in a mix of Hindu and Nigeria's pidgin language. Ahuja has lived in Nigeria since she was a child and says her experience living in Africa's most populous country inspired her to make her debut film. Hamisha Daryani Ahuja created the movie from her experience living in Nigeria and India Hamisha Daryani Ahuja created the movie from her experience living in Nigeria and India "I am Indian but I have lived in Nigeria my whole life. Everyone loves Bollywood and Nollywood, so I thought 'how is it that no one has done a love story between the two?'" she told CNN. Now in her 30s, Ahuja says she decided to fuse her experiences from both cultures to create a love story that people can relate to. The movie will be released in April and features top movie stars from both countries including veteran Nollywood actress Joke Silva, Richard Mofe Damijo and Segal Sujata, Ini-Dima Okojie and Ruslaan Mumtaz. Colorful celebrations Nigerian and Indian weddings are colorful and lavish affairs -- and they are also big business. A Nigerian wedding can cost up to $13,515, while India's wedding industry is reported to be worth $50 billion, according to Vogue Business. Through Namaste Wahala, both wedding industries fuse, showcasing a celebration between both cultures. I wanted both cultures to be portrayed the same, that no culture was above the other," Ahuja said. Filmed entirely in Lagos, Nigeria's commercial nerve center, Ahuja says it features classic Bollywood dancing and singing scenes to keep it as authentic as possible. "It is a fun comedy, a lot of laughs with a few tears," she said. Nollywood to the world Nigerians have taken to social media to express their excitement about the upcoming movie release. This is not the first international collaboration with Nollywood. Over the past years, Nigeria's movie industry has partnered with China, France, and the US to produce and distribute wide-ranging movies. In 2019, for example, China and Nigeria partnered to create their first major movie collaboration, and in the same year French Media giant, Canal+ acquired Nigeria's ROK studios as part of its expansion plans into Africa. Commentor: The premise here is that they Nigeria would have been better for it, and that I strongly disagree with.
All the negatives of today's democracy were evident at the time and so I ask what is your grouse? if buhari didn't truncate the gains of 1970s by instituting tyranny, we would not have had Abacha, ibb and the unfortunate events of June 12 which saw Nigeria sanctioned by Europe and America and chaos unleashed everywhere. We would have had 41 years of democracy which could potentially mean that by now all major zones of Nigeria would have produced president and agitations would have reduced. there would have been Balance of strength between the north and south. We would have had 19 strong states. Was it not eventually a democratic government led by Obasanjo and ngozi okonjo that saw those 1980s debts cleared. Tell us what exactly buhari achieved by overthrowing shagari. And since our democracy is still flawed today, would it be okay by you if buhari gets overthrown? |

We are talking about Nigeria's situation just before military intervention.
In any case, those positives you posted above were from the same military headed by the same people you castigated earlier - Obasanjo and Buhari. you still don't get the point...I wrote in my first post that the momentum of the 70s were not maintained by buhari, ibb and Abacha....I don't care who started the momentum...but I am sure that had it been maintained by these three in the 80s and 90s or had they left shagari alone, we won't be this bad now |

Commentor: What momentum are you talking about?
In 1983, when the military took over Nigeria was at its worst ever.
From the New York Times of May, 1983:
The most recent figures for Nigeria's cash reserves, for January of this year, were $1.3 billion - enough to finance only about a month of imports - and some analysts believe that reserves have dwindled to virtually nothing in the few months since then. Different Approaches
https://www.nytimes.com/1983/05/02/business/nigeria-faces-debt-problems.html but it was in those 70s that the following was done 1. Establishment of NNPC with 4 refineries 2. Building of high ways 3. Establishment of many federal universities 4 Nitel, NEPA, 5. Abuja 6. 19 viable states 7. Enthronement of merit in public service 8. Unity schools 9. Nysc 10. Return to presidential democracy A whole lot of other progressive establishments. What do we have now? 36 states that can't pay salaries or minimum wage |
