Music/RadioChinese "Song of Pig", Downloaded 1 Billion Times by Seun(mod): 6:41am On Sep 19, 2005
Hello Friends,

I'd like to invite you to listen to "Song of Pig", a freely downloadable song by Xiang Xiang, China's most popular Internet pop star! It has been downloaded over one billion times from the site where she uploaded it.

Download the Song of Pig: http://homepage.mac.com/danielbatty/notes/SongOfPig.html
Featured by BBC News : http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/4230846.stm

https://www.nairaland.com/img/song-of-pig.jpg grin
Pig, you have two holes on your nose
When you catch cold, you are snorting
Pig, you have black eyes which we cannot see beyond
Pig, you have two big ears
And you cannot hear that I'm cursing you silly
Pig, you have a curling tail which you cannot run without
Pig head, pig brain, pig body and pig tail
You are a good baby who eats everything
Everyday you won't wake up till noon
And you never brush your teeth and you never fight
What do you think about the song, and it's unbelievable popularity? One billion downloads! Why have none our own Internet musicians not achieved this same level of popularity?

Layi's comment is food for thought and really nice stuff; something to keep in mind!

I was going to apply to help you girls with your "problem" but then I remembered that I'm not dating at the moment. Ouch!

WebmastersRe: Increasing Local Internet Content from Nigeria by Seun(mod): 1:47pm On Sep 18, 2005
You have not really answered my question about what type of info you'll like to see. This makes me feel that maybe there's no actual demand for more Nigerian info online. If there's actual demand, you'll be able to specify what kind of information you'll like to have.

I see the Internet spreading in Nigeria, to the extent that we'll have large companies that depend on the Internet for their revenue. I am banking on it! wink
PoliticsRe: More Corrupt Nigerians Should Be Arrested by Seun(mod): 12:58pm On Sep 18, 2005
Perhaps the message the EFCC is trying to send is that, even if you have some immunity in Nigeria by virtue of your office, you can still be arrested by foreign security operatives whenever they travel abroad to enjoy their loot.

WebmastersRe: Increasing Local Internet Content from Nigeria by Seun(mod): 5:12pm On Sep 17, 2005
Hello obong,

One reason is that the Internet is not ubiquitous enough to be a primary channel for dissemination of information. Companies prepare to plant newspaper stories or ads to get their word out because they know that there will be more response from theirn customers. They don't see the need to bother with duplicating this published content on their sites.

Most of the time, those that want Nigerian content online are those who are abroad. A local Nigerian company has no means of extracting revenue from such visitors, so they won't bother.

What type of content would you like to see online? Nairaland might be able to help fix it!
Music/RadioRe: Britney Spears Now Has a Baby Boy! by Seun(mod): 3:47pm On Sep 17, 2005
Layi enjoys thinking about women in pain. He is angry that Britney chose to use the other option and get around the pain tongue. I heard that CS is good because it preserves the areas used in childbirth.

Update: I was only trying to be funny here!

PoliticsRe: Bayelsa State Governor, Alamieyeseigha, Arrested In London! by Seun(mod): 8:54am On Sep 17, 2005
From The News:
"The governor of Nigeria's oil-rich Bayelsa state, Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, has been arrested in the UK, the British Embassy in Lagos has confirmed. London police say a 53-year-old man was picked by their special Economic Crimes Unit at Heathrow Airport on Thursday."
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/4253362.stm

"Confirming the arrest last night, Mr. Dapo Ogunwusi, former editor of Tribune, who spoke from London, said that at the time he spoke with Daily Sun (10.20PM) the London policemen were still searching Alamieyeseigha’s home in London."
http://sunnewsonline.com/webpages/news/national/2005/sep/16/national-16-09-2005-001.htm

"The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has been informed of the arrest and questioning of Diepreye Alamieyeseigha by the Metropolitan Police, London," said EFCC spokesman Osita Nwajah in a statement.

In a swift response, the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), the largest Ijaw militant group, described the arrest as "a conspiracy" between the British authorities and Nigerian government and "part of a grand plan to destabilize the Ijaws."

http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/2005-09/17/content_3501642.htm

"Embattled governor of Bayelsa State, Chief Deprieye Alamieyeseigha, who was arrested in Britain by the London Metropolitan Police on Thursday morning, has been granted bail. The police released him after a court order to that effect yesterday. The governor may, however, not be allowed to leave Britain until November when the case is expected to come up again."
http://www.independentng.com/saturday/nnsep170502.htm

"For the Bayelsa State governor, Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, the road to freedom may be long and tortuous. The London Metropolitan Police yesterday in an exclusive interview with Thisday confirmed that the embattled governor will not return to Nigeria until his case has been determined."
http://www.thisdayonline.com/nview.php?id=28423

"The great Governor General is in trouble. A big trouble. He has seen and survived many troubles in the past, both as an Air Force officer and even as a Governor of one of the most restless states in Nigeria. Somehow, he has endeavoured to overcome, manage or tame his troubles. But this time, the stakes are different, as the troubles are offshore. He is Chief Diepreye Solomon Peter (DSP) Alamieyeseigha, the Governor of Bayelsa state. A man whose excitement at being addressed as Governor General of the Ijaw nation far exceeds that of being recognised as Bayelsa State Governor."
http://www.thisdayonline.com/nview.php?id=28415

"Ijaw youths yesterday warned of a possible reprisal attack on personnel and oil facilities of British interests if the embattled Governor Diepreye Alamieyeseigha of Bayelsa State was not released immediately by the London Authorities."

Nairaland GeneralRe: How do you wish to pass on? by Seun(mod): 8:30am On Sep 17, 2005
Death is just like war. It is never a good thing, no matter how you spin it, but nevertheless it's inevitable.

However, cushman's idea that death by gunshot is easy and quick with 'minimal pain' is ridiculous - either he's been watching too many hollywood movies or he's just trying to provoke a reaction. If he really believes that then he should be in the army or a member of the police! If you display enough impulse and bravado in those jobs, you are quite likely to achieve the kind of end you desire grin.

What George was doing in front of the town bar was his business, and this is what gossips don't understand. She could have asked him before going out to thrash his reputation in front of others.

And now, thanks to his response, the gossip is going to be seen as an adulteress! How sweet, I'll borrow a leaf from that! grin

Congratulations. So, Britney, how many months before you divorce your current husband (second husband!) and start shopping for a new one? Since you have his baby, I'm guessing you'll stick around for a year or two; at least until the baby is old enough for daycare, heh?

Please attach a screenshot of both versions of the site before you change them or take them down like you did the other time!

PoliticsRe: Likelihood of NLC Strike over Fuel Price Increase by Seun(mod): 2:03pm On Sep 15, 2005
Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the coalition of civil society groups yesterday in Lagos held the first in the series of the rallies to protest the recent hike in prices of petroleum products. The rally drew out a large crowd of protesters from all works of life.

The Federal Government has however, commended the NLC and other organisers for holding a peaceful rally to drive home their point rather than the strike option. It also gave indications of a possible downward review in the pump prices of petroleum products following noticeable drop in the cost of refined crude in the international market.

HealthRe: Determine Your Life Expectancy by Answering These Questions by Seun(mod): 10:35am On Sep 15, 2005
It says I'll live to be 82.5 years, based on my answers. I'm surprised, because in our society that's a respectable old age to live to.

So what's your score, Chxta, as the original poster?
