PropertiesHelp Me Plan My Bachelor Pad (My Own Place) by Seun(mod): 1:41pm On Sep 22, 2005
Hello,

Sometime in the future, hopefully in less than 2 years, I'm going to be moving into my own place of residence. My own flat.

It'll be just me in the house, no room-mates or flat-mates, but the house will have to function as my office. This means that I may have one or more employees around during the day and sometimes at night, and I'll need regular power supply and Internet Access.

I'd like you to help me determine what and what I need to have in my bachelor pad, and where I should locate it, so that I'll be able to estimate:
- How much it would cost for me to move.
- How much I'll have to be spending monthly to maintain my crib/flat/house.
- How long it'll be before I can afford to move to my own flat wink.

Ladies, I particularly want your opinion on this issue because of you-know-what. wink kiss

Once again,
- I need to know what gadgets, appliances, fixtures, fqcilities, etc I need to have.
- Money is a major issue here; I'll be needing all your cost-saving tips & pricing information.
- I'll need choose a particular state town or residential area for this move.

Thanks.
FamilyYou Remove Your Wedding Ring in Public, Sometimes? by Seun(mod): 12:43pm On Sep 22, 2005
Hello,

Perhaps there are some married men or women who sometimes remove their wedding rings at work or during outings. My questions are:
- When and where do you remove the ring?
- Why do you do it?
- Does your husband/wife know about this?

My questions for others are:
- What do you think about this practice?
- Under what circumstances would you feel it's ok?

Thanks,
Seun.
RomanceRe: What Do Ladies Hate in Men? by Seun(mod): 12:36pm On Sep 22, 2005
Princess, if a guy has time for his boys but never for you (his girl) it simply means he doesn't dig you that much. Ouch. Because my experience is that most young men in love always put their girlfriends first. Always.
Christianity EtcRe: The NBC ban of unverified TV miracles in Nigeria by Seun(mod): 12:28pm On Sep 22, 2005
Where is the proof of the validity of these miracles? Where are the practising doctors who are ready to put their careers on the line to declare that they have seen these people before and after the miracle service and all evidence points to the genuineness of the miracle?

And where is NBC to re-assure us that the reason they have banned these miracle services is for benefit of the masses the and not for some high-ranking person who happens to be a friend of their director?

Hello there,

Out of the 3345 current members of this forum, only 853 of us (about 25%) have posted at least one message. I feel that the forum will be a more interesting place if more of us would try to post our own replies or new topics.

For those who have never posted, I want to ask "how come?"

If you've been following the news, the EFCC has admitted to having a hand in this arrest. They could not prosecute him here because of his immunity from prosecution as a Governor, so they decided to hand him over to the Britons. The Nigerian government has not asked for him to be handed over because, as a Governor, they can't prosecute him here.

hot-angel, how exactly do you know that nothing is coming to your area?
Nairaland GeneralRe: Hurricane Rita. I Rebuke It! by Seun(mod): 5:32am On Sep 22, 2005
hot-angel, you're in Texas? You need to move away from the area today! Please, convince your dad and mom as soon as possible.

I agree with Vexxy, I think it would be really irresponsibile for those who have the opportunity or means to leave not to do so. Not after reading about the damage done by Hurricane Katrina!
Nairaland GeneralRe: Hurricane Rita. I Rebuke It! by Seun(mod): 3:55am On Sep 22, 2005
Have they left the area? If they are the type of people that'll say "no, this is my home-town and I'm staying", I think the best thing you can do for them is to convince them to leave now!

"More than one million people have begun to evacuate the Gulf Coast of the United States ahead of Hurricane Rita. The storm, which has been upgraded to Category Five, is heading towards Texas with winds of 165mph (265km/h).

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/4269994.stm

Nairaland members in the path of the storm should let us know so we can pray for them and check up on them after the storm. I'm hoping for the best possible outcome, but I guess the lessons learnt from the Katrina tragedy will make this new one less deadly.

BusinessRe: Starting a Bicycle Factory in Nigeria by Seun(mod): 8:11am On Sep 21, 2005
If your aim is social change, to encourage people to use bicycles more for the their health and the environment, then maybe you can set up an NGO which can lobby the government for favorable policies, and publish advertorials in the media urging people to go for bicycles.

Then this NGO can sit to decide if it's necessary to promote the setting up of bicycle factories in Nigreria!

Comprehensive BBC Profile of Asari Dokubo

"Asari is a burly man of 5 feet 10 inches (1.78m). He is soft-spoken and an easy-going person who is passionate about his convictions, especially, on matters he views as injustice. He is given to fits of anger.

"In 1992, Asari attempted to get elected into the Rivers State House of Assembly but failed. In 1998, he sought to be elected as the chairman of Asari-Toru local government area but lost again.

"Asari was a founding member of the Ijaw Youths Council, IYC, becoming its first vice-president in 1998. In November 1998, the IYC issued the "Kiama Declaration", demanding control of the oil resources from the Niger Delta by the people of the Niger Delta.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/3713664.stm

"The dominant image of Asari Dokubo, the Niger delta insurgent leader, that is gradually emerging in the media in Europe and the United States is of a frivolous and self-serving young man. It is mentioned, suggestively, that he drives a luxury four-wheel drive, that he has retainers at his beck and call, and that his home in Port Harcourt is a palatial mansion.

PoliticsAsari Dokubo Arrested Over Threats to Blow Up Oil Installations by Seun(mod): 6:46am On Sep 21, 2005
LAGOS, Nigeria (AP) -- A militia with a history of violence in Nigeria's oil-rich south threatened to blow up oil installations if the government did not release its leader, after he was reportedly arrested Tuesday.

Dozens of soldiers and police arrested Moujahid Dokubo-Asari, the main militia leader in Nigeria's south, at his office in the oil city of Port Harcourt, said his lawyer Uche Okwukwu.

http://edition.cnn.com/2005/WORLD/africa/09/20/nigeria.militia.ap/

Rivers State Police Command yesterday arrested one of the leaders of the Ijaw youths movement and Chairman of the Niger Delta Peoples Volunteers Force (NDVF), Alhaji Mujahid Asari Dokubo over alleged threats to blow up oil installations in the Niger Delta area.

His arrest has been greeted with protests in Port Hacourt yesterday by Ijaw militant youths. The youths had earlier yesterday given the Federal Government 72-hours ultimatum to release Dokubo failing which they would start attacking from today, foreign oil workers found in the swamp and creeks of the Niger Delta.

Leader of the Niger Delta Peoples Volunteer Force (NDPVF), Mujahid Dokubo-Asari, was arrested on Tuesday in Port Harcourt and flown to Abuja for questioning by security operatives.

Police sources disclosed that Dokubo is being held in Abuja “in connection with his threats to blow up pipelines”.

I have always been concerned by the way this man has been saying he wants to break up Nigeria, and now he is under arrest, and his people are threatening to instigate more of what they know best - violence and terror in the Niger Delta region.  The violent showdown we can expect in the next few days was bound to happen sometime, and I hope the authorities have planned this well.

What's your take on this?

Layi heard about the new 6-9-3 system on radio and provided a link to the National Tribune which also says it's 6-9-3: "pre-basic 6 years, Basic — 9 years and Post-Basic — 3 years". Kodewrita, are you sure your source more reliable than a National Newspaper?
BusinessRe: Starting a Bicycle Factory in Nigeria by Seun(mod): 2:34pm On Sep 20, 2005
would likely be of higher quality and cheaper
No, it cannot be of higher quality and cheaper at the same time, unless you are using better technology than the foreign manufacturers, or you're manufacturing in much greater quantities. And I saw lots of shiny new bicycles at Agege area in Lagos at one time when I was thinking of getting one, but what stopped me is that I couldn't really see myself using it very often! So really I don't see the market!

FamilyRe: Like Will Smith, Would You Consider an Open Marriage? by Seun(mod): 12:57pm On Sep 20, 2005
What's sick about it? At least he's being honest! Doesn't that count?

How do you expect a man that has been sleeping with whomever he likes, whenever he likes (before marriage) to suddenly become a one woman man after marriage? Is that really a reasonable expectation? I don't understand how people can condone premarital sex but frown against extra-marital affairs or this seemingly clever idea of open marriage!
EducationRe: 6-9-3 Universal Basic Education (UBE) Scheme To Replace 6-3-3-4 by Seun(mod): 12:11pm On Sep 20, 2005
This is big news, Layi, and we need the following information, in detail please:
- How exactly did you learn about this? Tell us everything!
- What does each stage of the 6-9-3 system represent? How will it work?

This is really big news for education in Nigeria, and we seem to have beaten the Newspapers to it.
FamilyRe: Like Will Smith, Would You Consider an Open Marriage? by Seun(mod): 12:06pm On Sep 20, 2005
Will Smith says he has 'open' marriage with Jada Pinkett Smith

U.S. actor Will Smith says he and his wife have an agreement that they can have sex with others provided they inform each other first.

"Our perspective is, you don't avoid what's natural," Smith told Britain's Daily Mail. "You're going to be attracted to people. In our marriage vows, we didn't say "forsaking all others. The vow that we made was that you will never hear that I did something after the fact."

"If it came down to it, then one can say to the other, 'Look, I need to have sex with somebody. I'm not going to if you don't approve of it -- but please approve of it.'"

Smith said he was forced to admit he had sexual feelings for other women when working on his film "Hitch," in which he stars with Eva Mendes, whom he described as "freakin' gorgeous."

Despite that attraction, Smith says his second marriage is still solid.
