FamilyLike Will Smith, Would You Consider an Open Marriage? by Seun(mod): 11:47am On Sep 20, 2005
Open marriage is when a wife tells her husband,
"Look, I know that you have trouble keeping little junior to yourself whenever I am not around and you see these young things in skirt. And I'm not a saint myself; I would like to see what other men have to offer in bed. So why don't we go ahead and have sex with other people? As long as you don't impregnate another lady it's ok with me, and I myself will make sure get pregnant by another man!"

From the wikipedia, "An open marriage is a marriage where both parties agree that they are permitted the right to have sexual relationships outside the marriage, without regarding this as sexual infidelity."

In this day and age when sex is everywhere, people are finding it difficult to stick to their marital vows; when it seems that 'old fashioned' values about sex being restricted to marriage only are no longer realistic, would you consider an open marriage? (At least, in an open marriage, you would know when your spouse is sleeping with someone else and be able to protect yourself.)

Do you know that Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith (his wife) have an open marriage? shocked
(and maybe that is why they are not divorced after all this time?)
PoliticsRe: Nigeria Ranked 2nd Poorest Nation in the World by Seun(mod): 10:57am On Sep 20, 2005
World Bank rates Nigeria second poorest nation

Yet another World Bank report has put Nigeria at the top of the world's poorest nations. The new publication released at the ongoing United Nations summit offers new estimates of total wealth including produced capital, natural resources and the value of human skills and capabilities, which show that many of the poorest countries in the world are not on a sustainable path. It cites Nigeria as an example of resource-dependent nation, which could have produced capital five times higher than it did in 2000, if only it had made a moderate effort to save.

The document: "Where is the Wealth of Nations? Measuring Capital for the 21st Century" launched by the World Bank listed the top-10 richest countries and top-10 poorest countries Sub-Saharan Africa dominates the latter, with Nigeria standing on the ninth position before Ethiopia, which has the lowest level of total wealth. Switzerland heads a list in which the top-10 performers are all Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) countries. European countries-of which two are Scandinavian-dominate the list and non-European economies are the United States and Japan. Madagascar, Chad, Mozambique, Guinea Bissau, Nepal, Niger, Congo Republic, and Burundi are ahead of Nigeria in ranking. Their wealth per capital varies from $5,020 to $2, 859 while natural capital stood between 265 per cent and 42 per cent. The produced capital of the countries was put between 180 per cent and 6 per cent, and intangible capital 64 per cent and 39 per cent. Figures for Nigeria's wealth per capital are $2,748, natural capital 147 per cent, produced capital 24 percent and intangible capital is minus 71.

BusinessRe: Starting a Bicycle Factory in Nigeria by Seun(mod): 9:37am On Sep 20, 2005
But we have so many brands of imported bicycles in Nigeria, but they are used by only a small group of people - hunters, ice cream vendors, kids on holidays, people in rural areas.

What's the advantage of having bicycles that are made in Nigeria? Doesn't this seem like a solution in need of a problem, seeing that there's no scarcity of bicycles nor are people complaining that the currently available ones are too expensive?

Music/RadioRe: Chinese "Song of Pig", Downloaded 1 Billion Times by Seun(mod): 6:54am On Sep 20, 2005
If 2Face Idibia allowed the free distribution of his songs online do you think he'll be more popular?

Anyway, I'd like to encourage our musicians to make sure that whatever they release is well-polished. Remove all the little imperfections so that, when people are listening, from start to finish every thing is really cool. Any noticeable imperfection spoils the mood of the listener and reduces the chance that your album would be smash hit!

RomanceRe: Does Love Have Anything to Do With Money? by Seun(mod): 1:04pm On Sep 19, 2005
Yes, it is true that we've looked into this issue on threads such as:
- Why are girls so eager for money?
- What is the perfect gift of love
- Wealthy Men Who Refuse to Give Their Women Money
- Can a Girl Choose a Husband on Love Alone?

However, we do not seem to have dealt with the issue directly. Let's do that here and now.

What, if anything, does love have to do with money?

Don't worry, angela, you're safe. Rufus is probably a scam baiter who wants to see if Nigerians are as greedy as their people who regularly fall for such scams. The answer seems to be "no, no, no!!" So go back and tell your people that the Nigerians on Nairaland are smart, discerning, and not fraudulent.

That I promote a thread doesn't mean I agree with the contents; it means I think it's worth a read!
ComputersRe: Instant Messaging & Chatting Rules & Tips? by Seun(mod): 11:42am On Sep 19, 2005
they didn't take you seriously/ they had nothing important to say!
Ouch! (but you are probably 100% right - I don't chat anymore and no-one is complaining!)

I've discovered that what works best is to launch the messenger app only when I have something to discuss with someone in particular. I only log on to Yahoo Messenger (or Google Talk) when someone says "let's chat", and when it's over, I log out. This way I don't put myself in a position to be rude to anyone, and no-one has the opportunity to be rude to me.

Any other tips? We need your tips!
CareerWhat Do You Really Love to Do? by Seun(mod): 11:10am On Sep 19, 2005
I have seen people who have so much passion for music that they go to the studio to record a CD and then they give it out for free! Others have written world-class encyclopedia articles for free, and hosted them. Some young webmasters have built popular websites and blogs for the fun of it, with no intention of making back the money spent on those projects. All for the enjoyment they derive from these activities.

No doubt, there are some tasks/duties that you we love to do so much, to the extent that you're ready to keep on doing them even if there's nothing to gain. Mine is primarily that I just that I love to create clever strategies to solve problems that matter in my business, society, and so on. I like to analyse situations, understand and apply fundamental principles to solve them. What's what you really love to do?

From his statement:
"Having said that, I wish to state unequivocally that there is no need to appear before your commission when I know that its assignment amounts to nothing but a nullity. As things stand now it is only an independent platform that can guarantee an unbiased investigation on the matter. Anything short of this is a deliberate abuse of the constitution, breaking of the law and therefore unacceptable to me," he stated.

ComputersInstant Messaging & Chatting Rules & Tips? by Seun(mod): 8:37am On Sep 19, 2005
One of the most frustrating experiences of my life has been the attempt I made at one time to maintain friendships via instant messaging (aka chatting). I felt that, since the hourly cost of Internet access is less than that of phone calls, this would be a very inexpensive way to communicate with people. My experience was that people didn't take instant messaging seriously enough for any meaningful conversation to take place.

I was wondering if there are any rules that one can follow to make for a satisfying instant messaging or chat experience? "Professional chatters", do you have any tips?

Do you think the Nintendo Revolution, thanks to innovations like this controller, will overtake the Xbox as the gamind console of choice? The idea behind this "remote control controller" is that it will be less intimidating to people who are new to gaming.

Do you like it?
