Voodoo doesn’t work. |
Get Out was really good. Congrats to the writer-director on winning Best Original screenplay. I wish the actors got something too. I don't understand the fascination with Shape of Water, which won best picture. An unrealistic story in an ancient setting. Get Out was better. |
sod09, can you give some specific example? |
Post pictures of the packets |
So sad. It was smart of her to use her final moments of freedom to inform her folks about what happened to her. @Solosolojohquay: that's not so important compared to her life and freedom. If there is any way she can survive this horror, I hope she survives. |
I hope this is not true. @myndd44 |
Uyi168:Since you could not demonstrate that the advice was wrong, you had to literally demonize the person that gave the advice. ![]() |
Yes, I do feel lonely sometimes. Don't marry the person you want to spend your life with until he understands and fully accepts the new you. The male to female ratio in the freethinker/atheist/humanist/agnostic/pantheist/deist community is very high, so you will find someone easily. |
Acidosis:That’s a good question to ask a psychiatrist. Some minds are wired differently, I guess. When I have a nightmare, it’s awful. And then I wake up, and I’m like, I’m so glad that that was not real! Then I forget it and go about my day. Muna5 should do the same. |
Muna5: You secretly hate your mother or hate something about her. Work on yourself. Don’t be a monstrous daughter who accuses her mum of witchcraft cos of some stupid dream that came from her own mind. If your mum wanted to harm you she would have kicked your dreaming arse out of the house. Lesson to mothers: this is what happens when you raise your children to have superstitious beliefs. Why not raise them as atheists? ![]() Muna5 should just ignore her stupid dreams, but she won’t listen to me. If they continue, she may be having sleep issues. |
profolaolu:I believe the story, but I want more details. This is the church that disciplined the founder’s son because his wife’s modest bridal gown was not as ugly as they wanted it to be. |
In response to just the video: Respect to Pastor Sam Adeyemi. As he said, no Christian should be made to feel guilty for not paying tithe. Hopefully, other pastors will follow his lead. |
The good part of Pastor Chris is that he wants his sheep to feel good. Unlike the sin preachers who want them to live in the constant fear of hell. |
Nice discussion. I love their "british naija" accents. It's a pity that they are so Igbo-centric. Discussion ended just as it became engaging. |
Great message by Pastor Chris. Don't be scared of your dreams. I love the reference to God asking Peter to eat in a dream*modified. Thumbs up. |
psalmiel:If God wants to have a close relationship with us, it makes sense for him to start by doing things that undeniably demonstrate his existence. Would you marry someone who refused to meet you in person, talk to you directly on the phone, or even send pictures of him/herself? |
Every contradiction deserves its own thread. |
No means no. If a girl says no when she means yes, or vice verse, you don’t want that type of dangerous liability (“alakoba”) in your life, so it’s still best to take the no as a no and move on quickly. |
Obvious photoshop is obvious. |
If a person continues to post wrong information after he has been corrected many times, at some point we have to assume that it is deliberate. |
Gggg102:Actually, the language of certainty is often better. If you're 99% sure of something and you use the word "probably", people may think it's 50%. from the position of lack of belief, it only makes sense to disprove claims or 'evidence', and to show why such claim is probably impossible. That's precisely what many outspoken atheists spend most of their time doing. Debunking faulty claims of the divine and the supernatural. |
NL1960:I'm sorry. The forum script was so old and unfamiliar and I had no time to really manage it. And this section is loaded with scammers, sadly. |
Could you educate us bout Ugu seeds? How and for how long should they be handled and stored to ensure that they'll germinate when planted? How old are the Ugwu seedlings in your picture? Thanks. |
Gggg102:Sometimes we use the language of certainty because we are 99.9% sure. It's tedious to insert the word 'probably' into every sentence. If a child asks you whether superman is real, the perfect answer is "probably not", but his existence is so unlikely that it's easier to just say "no". |
Thugnificent:They think it might happen to other peoples' children, but not theirs. They trust that God, who said "be fruitful and multiply", will handle things. |
rekinomtla:My evidence against the existence of God is that despite numerous efforts by religious people to prove his existence, they've failed. If God existed, proving his existence wouldn't be so difficult unless he was deliberately hiding from us. If he's hiding, shouldn't we stop bothering him? |
Gggg102:You're right. When an atheist says "there is no X", where X could be God, Satan, or Angel Gabriel, it's shorthand for "there is probably no X" or "there is no credible evidence that X exists". Some versions of God definitely don't exist, e.g. the all-loving, all-powerful God who allows children to be abducted, tortured, abused and brutally murdered, allows babies to have cancer, and will punish most people infinitely for finite crimes. |
guiddoti:Just as the book of 'Two Corinthians' was meant for the actual church that was in the city of Corinth at the time Paul wrote it, it seems clear that the message to the church in Thyatira was written to the actual church in the ancient city Thyatira when Revelation was written. So "Jezebel" was just a derogatory name used to refer to an actual female member of the church in Thyatira who had ...Christ Embassy tendencies. ![]() With this understanding, read the passage again: "Nevertheless, I have this against you: You tolerate that woman [not "demon"] Jezebel, who calls herself a prophet. By her teaching she misleads my servants into sexual immorality and the eating of food sacrificed to idols [in those days, most people except Jews and Christians literally sacrificed animals to idols and most of the meat ended up being sold in the markets]. I have given her time to repent of her immorality, but she is unwilling. So I will cast her on a bed of suffering, and I will make those who commit adultery with her [literally] suffer intensely, unless they repent of her ways. I will strike her children dead [just like Ananias and Sapphira]. Then all the churches will know that I am he who searches hearts and minds, and I will repay each of you according to your deeds." It's interesting that the Jesus of Revelation seems to be against the eating of food sacrificed to idols, since the Jesus of the gospels said that it's not what goes into a man that makes him unclean, but what comes out of the man. Anyway, my point is that "Jezebel" was just a woman. |
awesomeJ:It has always been important. I just didn't realise it earlier. I gave some reasons on this older thread |
Thugnificent:I guess they believe that if they train up the children in the way they should go, they will not depart from it, and thus, they'll end up in heaven. |
moshoodtex:Ah, this is a serious question. I'd like to know the answer too. I remember reading about a pesticide with some nematocidal properties once. |
They initially hesitated to upload it. Then after finally uploading it and getting a lot of views, they pulled it down. Does Pastor Sam Adeyemi regret saying what he said? Did other pastors who are his spiritual fathers pressure him to drop the new teaching? Did the finance department notice a sharp drop in the tithes and offerings paid after his brave, gutsy sermon? I’d love to have the juicy details. |
