In Today's service in daystar, Pastor Sam Adeyemi shared his view on tithe, he says that tithe as paid in the old Testament as a law with curses attached has expired, and no Christian should be pressured or forced to pay tithe, he also said that not paying tithe does not attract a curse for a Christian, since we are under a new covenant, he however stated that giving is a choice, everyone should decide the percentage they want to pay with the knowledge that you will be blessed based on how you give. The wedding didn't go against everything his father preached. It went against the dress code; that's all. His bride's dress was not revealing; it was just a bit prettier than the rags that other deeper life ladies are forced to wear. I bet they still follow 99% of Deeper Life teachings. I don't think it's realistic to expect pastors' kids to agree with every aspect of their parents' teachings. No child agrees completely with her parents.

"Neighbour" in the old testament usually means a fellow Jew who worships the same God. That's why the same God that said "love your neighbour as yourself" also led Joshua to kill all the babies in Jericho, a city that never attacked the Israelites. An unprovoked genocide.

Those are reported cases. Most cases are not reported. A lot of scenarios that are considered to be rape in western countries are not recognised as rape in the muslim countries, such as statutory rape (sex with a minor), marital rape (forcing your wife), or a woman withdrawing consent. A woman who reports being raped in a muslim country could be jailed or sentenced to death for "adultery". The rapist may not even be punished.

Having said that, I must admit that there's no basis for my assertion that there's more rape in the muslim countries. There's probably more.

The scriptures did not say that rahab was justified for her lies, it was for her efforts at saving the spies that she was justified. The means she used was not praised, but the act of saving those folks was what was praised.

How did the spies do their jobs without lying? Surely if someone asked them, “who are you?” they would not have replied, “we are spies; LOL!”

No, it suggests that the Ten Commandments are not the timeless moral standard that they are made out to be. They were written for ancient Jews and not for modern Christians.

It says “don’t give false testimonies” instead of “don’t lie” because their entire legal system was based on testimonies. There was nothing like “forensic evidence”, “dna testing”, “checking alibis”, “defense attorneys” or “innocent until proven guilty”. If any two or three people (i.e. Jewish men) falsely accused you of murder, you would almost certainly be stoned to death.

If God existed, he would have taught them a thing or two about forensics because the commandment didn’t stop bad people from giving false testimonies. Modern research has shown that even honest testimonies are not very reliable because people often remember things incorrectly.

"Thou shall not bear false witness" means thou shall not lie.

It means “you shall not give false testimony against your neighbour”, according to NIV. In other words, don’t falsely accuse your neighbor of a crime s/he didn’t commit. The Ten Commandments only forbid this specific type of lie. You can tell all sorts of lies without breaking any of the Ten Commandments.

Educate everybody about consent: Men (and women) should be taught to immediately stop doing whatever they are doing when someone says no. Women (and men) should always say yes when they mean yes, and no when they mean no, so that no rapist would have any excuse. As citizens, we must stop behaviours that blur the line between consensual sex, which is awesome, and rape, which is a very serious crime.

The government should convict rapists under the existing laws. 99% of rapists would not rape if they knew that they would be jailed for it.

Since the government is slow, companies can do what they are doing in USA, which is to fire employees who are found to have raped someone.

Capital punishment for rape is an extremely bad idea. It would be unjust and also counterproductive: more rape victims would be murdered.

Rape has very little to do with the dressing of the victim. Islamic countries which force women to cover everything up probably have more rape than western countries whose young women typically wear bikinis to the beach. Rape happens when rapists feel that they can get away with it.

It saddens me to observe that religion seems to oppose anything which can make a woman’s life better.
There should be no need for this debate at all. I am grateful to the Christians who have picked the right side.

Alas, plants require sunlight. Those who grow plants without sunlight have to use strong artificial lights that won’t be economical for you.

You can grow crops outside the building, though. If the ground outside is cemented or otherwise unsuitable you can just use grow bags.
