A lot of people enjoy these movies. That's all that matters in entertainment. It's not about how sophisticated, accurate, or awe-inspiring the movies are; it's about how well people enjoy them and a lot of people really seem to enjoy these Nollywod movies.

Talking about 10 year old children being sent to hawk, i don't support that because it's so unsafe. I think the problem is that illiterates breed like rabbits. They copulate without the use of protection, and then they have so many children they can't take care of. Their lack of education consigns them to a low income that can't adequately support 2 or 3 kids not to talk of 6, 7, 8, 9! This makes them take desperate steps like sending their children to hawk or work for strangers who may or may not be cruel.

However, we should not throw out the baby with the bathwater. I don't see what's particularly bad about a 16 or 17 year old having a job (which may be housekeeping). There are some people who treat their domestic servants well and even pay for their education where they would have had no opportunity to be educated. You don't say because some marriages are bad you want to ban marriage altogether, because that will cause more problems. A law to punish child abuse - whether the child is yours or not - would have been more intelligent.

After a nice chat with zizzle, I realised that the situation is not that bad. Though the father seems to currently disapprove of her, she's on talking terms with him and the rest of the family. She should just persevere and love will prevail. Wishing her the very best in her relationship and upcoming marriage.

There's a big difference between protection and criminalization. Protection is when you appoint conselors to visit these househelps and ask them, "are they treating you well?" and punish their employers if they have been mistreated. This law does nothing of that nature. It merely deprives these children of their only source of income.

Yes, I am against child labor, but it's still better to be a househelp than to die of hunger or be forced into crime. This idea of depriving people of their source of income in order to 'improve' the society is silly.

When people in relationships talking about travelling out, I always wonder what will happen to their partners. Their desperate desire for a better life abroad makes them blind and heartless. If you know you want to travel out, you should remain single. So many relationships are not worth the time wasted on them.

Here are my questions:
- What's the difference between a child, nephew, or friend's child who runs a lot of errands at home and a domestic servant? You know that in our culture children are treated as house helps anyway.
- Have they provided alternative employment for the children under 18 who are currently domestic servants?

Sure. You can publish an open letter for me in any of the Nigerian dailies. That'll surely work.

One possible improvement on this idea, informed by your idea above, is to install a monstrously large battery bank, which would be charged either by NEPA (when available) or by a generator. I would bill at a rate higher than that of NEPA. A battery bank would be better than a generator at adjusting to wide fluctuations in the demand for power. The higher price will motivate people to save power to lower their bills, but power will be available whenever they need it.

an empty "Investment scheme" is not a legitimate business. There are much better ways to make money. You have to generate value by solving people's problems.

Why should I want to promote our culture?

In the future I'm going to work with some doctors to implement a more customer-focused approach to medicine. Imagine doctors that have such good manners that you make you feel like falling sick so you can see them again!

I can implement the idea of paying the doctors to keep their patients healthy and happy always. Just wait and see!

Hot_Coco: I would invest in electricity generation if I had the money, because it's a very obvious need that surpasses the need for telecoms that led to the GSM revolution. So far the only power investment I have been able to make is in 2 100AH batteries and an inverter that powers my PC every day when NEPA/PHCN strikes!

Later I will invest in a personal generator, followed by a community generator for my street, and finally a full-scale power plant for the town I live in. If you have the capital, please rush into it today. We need you.
