@ OP - I wonder who the true patriots are, the Citizens that highlight the truth; or the Citizens that distort and conceal the truth?
The truth is that Nigeria does need a revolution, it has to be purged, the type of individuals that were involved in selling our Citizens to Alien cultures for Centuries still exist and they have to be wiped out. The enemies within have to be wiped out!
The strategy has now changed, the new phase of exploitation is to enslave the masses within the African continent and the Leaders and powerful elite are being used to perpetrate the injustice, the same type of individuals that were involved in selling our Citizens to Alien cultures for Centuries in the past. The same type of individuals that will argue that poverty and hunger barely exists in Nigeria, when we all know for a fact that there should be no hungry mouths in Nigeria.
Trust your instincts, stay true to the light and strive to keep out of the darkness.

Hey ROSSIKE, I admit I have personal problems, they stem from seeing graphic images of babies butchered posted all over FaceBook

I've no idea where you get your information. Suffice it to say that the overwhelming majority of Nigerians are not aware of this weekly butchering of babies you allege. Your wild allegations and innuendo seem motivated by little more than spite, which leads one to conclude you have deep personal problems.
You must be short of incidents of human rights violations in Nigeria to be talking about Fela's mum's death in 1977 or 1976, or Saro Wiwa's execution in 1995, both under conditions of military dictatorship.
Isn't that because the TRUTH is that Nigerians have become MORE FREE TODAY, while a Nigeria-hating creep like you is still stuck in the 1970s? I bet you cannot even get yourself to admit there's been ANY progress in Nigeria.
It is YOUR type who are the problem. While you make a few credible observations, you frequently go overboard.
You do not strike me as someone who loves his country one bit. If you got to power, I'm convinced you will rob the nation blind. |
Politics › Re: A Call To Revolution by ShangoThor(m): 8:26pm On Feb 15, 2011 |
Hey Playmode, I empathize with you – but you have to understand:
Nigeria is the most corrupt country on earth and the citizens are complicit in its fraudulent setup, check out these points:
1. Babies get butchered weekly, chopped in their heads like they are chopping watermelons and the majority of the citizenry do not bat an eyelid.
2. The Police extort the citizenry on a daily basis via makeshift road blocks and the majority of the citizenry do not bat an eyelid.
3. WikiLeaks revealed that we have industrial espionage perpetrated on a grand scale; spies in key ministry positions and amongst Civil Servants leaking information to MultiNationals such as Shell and Julius Berger and yet the majority of the citizenry do not bat an eyelid.
4. Citizens worship wealth without caring about its source but will argue blindly about how much poverty exists in the country, whilst the wealthy avert eye contact with the impoverished begging for arms in traffic jams whilst driving in their expensive rides.
5. Human rights for the citizenry is deemed as a privilege in a country where a granny is thrown out of a window (Fela’s mom); and Eco Activists (Saro Wiwa) are murdered extra judiciously and the majority of the citizenry did not bat an eyelid.
6. The whole country is setup on a system of exploitation, where the wealthy rip off the poor, the strong and influential rip off the weak and vulnerable, family members in the country, rip off their relatives in the Diaspora, Government Administrations in particular rip off their poor citizens by paying extremely low wages, cracking the whip to exploit the same workers for the multi-nationals, and preventing home grown Nigerian companies to compete in the same fields as the Multi-nationals. To top it off, local Nigerians pay up to 300% more for goods than their western counterparts which is absolutely ludicrous. We pay more for airline tickets in general when travelling to the west (Please check out Thailand to compare), and the list goes on.
The Bottom line is if a mega-personality like Fela could not inspire a revolution in Nigeria, neither can we (as much as I hate to sound defeatist). Moreover, Do not set yourself ablaze because you will not even get anybody to show you generousity enough to piss on you in order to put out the fire. We are a bunch of selfish b*a*s*t*a*r*d*s* and we could not even stop the Slave Trade.

Nigeria would do a lot better for it, the implication being, a lot less unproductive mouths to feed in the economy. The Northern States that adopted Sharia would be better served to combine forces and form a new Nation State,"you can't have your cake and eat it too".asorocker: Arewa is at it again, the same kind of poor thinking and wrong logistics that prcecipated the civil war causing them and yorubas to loose countless number of soldiers against poorly armed biafrans.
The core north west and north east of 8 states ( sokoto, zamfara, kano, kebbi, borno, yobe, katsina, jigawa,) cannot seccede alone. Less than a quater of nigeria , it will be another 3 years war to end it unless the remaining 28 states do not care.
Mind you kaduna , gombe, adamawa, taraba, bauchi is mixed and can't be considered core north.
The do not have the best fighting soldiers nor do they have the money to bring in arsenals from UK, US ,russia or china. Any seccession not backed by these 3 super powers will fail woefully. |

People of the SW do not need their egos stroked, they probably failed to recognise that they are in the wrong part of the country. jason123: Just cash, MJB, etc
You guys are not serious. GEJ was referring to the NON-PDP members of the SW. There is a difference between forgiving him and trying to twist his word which insults our intelligence. The SW would probably still vote for him but he cannot say he was not referring to Fashola and co. |
Politics › Re: I Was Grossly Misunderstood - Gej. by ShangoThor(m): 6:39pm On Feb 14, 2011 |
JustCash, seriously, cut the crap. Let’s accept that it was a ‘faux pas’ so we can move on, damnnnnn, why can’t Nigerians be honest, where has our integrity gone? Insulting our intelligence is making it worse.
All he has to say is admit to using the wrong word, period and stick to talking about POLICIES in the future. It’s a frigging joke, because the whole speech lacked any real policy content. GEJ’s advisers have really messed up on this one. Forget the name calling because anyone can make a mistake, but I’d respect him even more if he comes clean and sticks to talking about policies.
My point is that if he cannot apologize in order for closure of the issue then that is bad news for the country because it means he will lie through his teeth to save his position, and sell out the people.
At this juncture in history we need a great leader.
Justcash: Ofcourse as a PDP member, he'd wish for his party to have Lagos state.
"SOUTH WEST IS TOO SOPHISTICATED TO BE LEFT IN THE HANDS OF RASCALS.", This statement is the reason for the whole issue that was raised.
Now to say SOUTH WEST IS TOO SOPHISTICATED means that he gat a high regard for the south west. The fact that he said "TO BE LEFT IN THE HANDS OF RASCALS" means that SW must not be left in the hands of rascals. It doesn't mean that the SW is in the hands of rascals. He implied that the SW is too important "TO BE" left in the hands of rascals (Which could be anybody, without specific reference to the present). If he said "TO BE LEFT IN THE HANDS OF ACN AND LABOUR PARTY RASCALS" then it would have been another story.
Once again as a PDP member, his wish is to capture as many states as possible, hence the last statement.
His statement did not insult anybody. It gave prestige to the SW as a whole. IF TRULY HE WAS REFERRING TO OTHER PARTY LEADERS, THEN WHY DID IT TAKE A REGIONAL DIMENSION? SOUTH WESTERNERS TOOK OFFENSE. SHOULDN'T IT BE ACN AND LABOUR PARTY MEMBERS THAT SHOULD BE OFFENDED? OR ARE THESE PARTIES NOT FIELDING CANDIDATES THAT WILL CONTEST AGAINST JONATHAN? RIBADU HAVE BEEN QUITE VOCAL ABOUT THE DANGERS OF ELECTING PDP. HE HAS BEEN QUITE DIRECT IN HIS REFERENCES. SO, WHY IS HE CALLING FOR GEJ'S HEAD FOR AN UNCLEAR STATEMENT?" Anyway I aint a PDP member. I actually prefer Ribadu more, but I'm just being fair. |

Awww for F’s sake, I like GEJ simply because he is a minority whose Political position trumped all that zoning crap.
But I hate be patronized, this is NIGERIA, people can read and are intelligent, there is no doubt in my mind to infer that the word ‘rascals’ was referring to the Party and Governors in control of the SW States. Furthermore, he would not have got into this mess if he just stuck to talking about policies period.
His clarification is trying to point out that he gave out a massive compliment first before mentioning anything about rascality. He defines rascality as -
I had referred here to the fact that unreliable or mischievous behaviours or notions ought not to be acceptable in any part of our body politic especially not in the South-West where the population has had the privilege of a head start in education compared to other parts of the country. He needs to precisely elaborate on what he means by the bold above, and apologise. If he doesn’t apologise, then it’s fair play for other politicians to get personal with him because he has opened the floodgates. |

Well argued!koruji: Election time is here again, and time for Gen. OBJ to harp on this fraud of an idea called "Nigerian Unity". In the name of Nigerian Unity they have seized the instrument of state for 50 years, and then proceed to do and/or allow great acts of disunity. That Nigeria is not united 50 years into this experiment shows that the unitary turn taken in 1966 has been a disaster that must be reversed.
Does PDP plan to win this election for GEJ by playing this same tired, old, fraudulent song of "Nigerian unity"? The guy can campaign, but cannot take frontal action concerning the Jos crisis - if he handles this with swiftness and justice there will not be much campaigning needed to win. Nigerians are not animals, they will recognize genuine leadership when it shows up.
If the people cannot eat $#&@ unity; if they are dying by the hundreds due to religious, ethnic, etc conflagrations $#&@ unity; if it is an excuse for one part to impose itself on the others $#&@ unity, if it is an excuse to foster another round of mediocrity on the good people of Nigeria, $#&@ unity.
Let's substitute that word "unity" for "progress", individual and national. If disunity brings us progress then so be it - let each state forge ahead, then see others follow in a hurry. As long as everyone is lackadaisically proclaiming empty unity, while rotating in place, even unity will be far from our doorsteps. |

aloy/emeka: Nigeria’s unity fragile -OBJ
FORMER president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, on Saturday took a critical look at the 51 years of existence of the country and concluded that the “unity of Nigeria is fragile.”
Obasanjo said he was apprehensive about the continued unity of the country because those who had enjoyed the greatest benefits of this country “are not doing enough to keep the unity of the country.”
The former president observed that “thieves and barons of divisions on ethnic, religious, linguistic bases have taken over the country; what a shame, what a great shame. I believe that all of us who God has put in position must rise to correct the situation.
“It is not enough that our individual states are forging ahead; we all must be together. If we do not make it great it (Nigeria), it will not be the fault of God.
OBJ should stop speaking in code. Somethings cannot be brushed under the carpet. |

Obiagu1: That is not my point. All humans may have a common ancestor.
My point is that, as we found ourselves in Nigeria, we all came from different areas at different times. Those areas we migrated from have diverged remarkedly that they are already dissimilar to the common ancestor of every human.
If, for instance, the Yoruba migrated from point A in Africa and the Igbo and the Edo migrated from the same point A, then we may be similar but in reality we all migrated from point A, B, C that are already dissimilar.
I was reading one article and the author, not Nigerian, was pointing to other peoples that migrated alongside the Igbos from the same location but they ended up in different parts of Africa in Keyna and Uganda and probably in other African countries as well. Very interesting food for thought, I'm absolutely fascinated with this subject and as you know there are competing theories. If I find any info to shed further light on this I will share it |

In other words these communities in Africa were isolated from one another completely, and there were no migrations, or people were not absorbed into other communities. |

You come into threads like this and try to promote disunity.
I have never seen you challenging things that are wrong in Northern Nigeria, I mean what do you really represent. Do you believe in educating the masses of your people, would you challenge Boko Harem activists or Islamic extremists when it comes to protecting innocent southerners, or do you just tow the line and accept them as collateral damage? Are you pro zoning or do you believe the best man should get the job? Do you believe that Northerners were born to rule Nigeria? Do you believe that Southern Muslims are inferior to Northern ones especially when considering that its an alien culture/religion to Africa? Would you challenge Northern leaders that refuse to educate the masses and only perpetuate the same old system that has reduced your under privileged people to poverty? Do you think that the the life of a cow is more important than the life of a human? Do you believe that one can justify butchering babies in the middle of the night because you have a grievance? Does your religion come before your Nation State or Country?
We are diametrically opposed, the difference is I know that the views and ethnic insults on this board are not representative of what Human Evolution. You might fool my eastern neighbours but you do not fool me. Divide and conquer is your game and the only reason why it remains is because Southerners do not have the intelligence to act collaboratively in favour of what is in their common interest.

EzeUche_: Come on now Ikengawo. I was starting to warm up to you and then you write this nonsense. Igbos are doing better than any other group intellectually. Do not allow our political situation to cloud your mind. Get to know the common Igbo man and you will have your answers.
Take these few words of advice, do not talk about Igbo issues in front of other groups. It can be used against us. As the Americans say, "do not show your dirty laundry."
Do you see other groups doing that on Nairaland? The answer is NO so STOP IT. EzeUche, that’s contradictory considering that is exactly what you were doing in a thread a few weeks ago, “washing your dirty laundry in public”, when you were bragging about the Aro’s.
You keep on talking about your educational achievements of your peoples, which you cannot substantiate. It is not about what educational achievements one has, but the application of the knowledge, that is true intelligence.
I like Ikengawo because he is extremely objective, he understands the bigger picture, the interest of Black Africa as a whole is a lot more important than any single ethnic polity. He is more interested in finding solutions to problems as opposed to whingeing
However, where I disagree with Ikengawo is that I have already identified the source of the problem in Nigeria as the puritanist Islamic threat in Northern Nigeria, period. Hence I advocate the secession of Southern Nigeria instead, but I never argue along the lines of ethnic differences because I know the truth. Throughout Nigeria and the Diaspora a lot of ethnicities are intermixed via marriages. This is the real story of ‘human evolution’. Yoruba, Igbo and other minorities live respectfully side by side, and most importantly learn from one another.
Nevertheless, I still respect Ikengawo for his objective views. He never feels the need to degrade other ethnicities to get his point across, and that goes for the ignorant bigots on all sides.
If anybody wants to break away from the FR there are practical things you can do that are deemed acceptable and within the political process, as opposed to coming o public forums to continuously degrade other ethnicities. I hate when people just talk and do not do anything about their beliefs.
NL is an example of what I’m saying. It is a Forum that belongs to a Yoruba man named Seun (I assume) where all types of Nigerians converge to discuss ideas and current affairs amongst other things, and to a greater extent people are allowed freedom of speech to a great degree. All types of Nigerians are accommodated. Do not try to develop support for the creation of Biafra by disseminating false propaganda. Not all Yoruba were against the creation of Biafra, because Wole Soyinka wasn’t and neither was my father, or myself.
Stick to the issues, if you want to create your own State, you need show you have support for it amongst your own people, check out the history of the IRA and Sinn Feinn. That’s the way to go. |

Is Nigeria's problem bad leadership or weak "followership"? We were having this argument after we watched what just happened in Tunisia and Egypt. To me, i believe that bad leadership can be stopped by strong followership, and didn't Obama ask us to build strong institutions? Why arent we able to stop the deceitful people in government even with our huge population? Good followership develops and gets entrenched when prosperity and confidence becomes abundant.
The issue of Good Leadership is extremely important because in my humble opinion we still do not have a system that churns out the best, even though we’ve got some extremely savvy and competent visionary individuals capable of transforming our economy to a modern digital wealth producing economy.
Furthermore, I think we have a weak ineffective State and that in such a context, good leadership alone will not suffice to turn our circumstances around. The State or System also has to be fixed. |

Three years ago the Central Bank governor, Chukwuma Soludo, installed his wife, Nonye, and their two children in a mansion bought for half a billion naira in the tony London suburb of Brondesbury Park.
One of their two children is enrolled at Ampleforth College, an elite parochial school known as “the Catholic Eton,” and where the Central Bank governor pays an annual fee of £25,000 for this privilege— roughly half his annual salary. The other child attends a similarly expensive public school— which in Britain actually means private school— so that in theory Mr. Soludo’s entire earnings of about N12 million a year hardly covers his children’s school fees.
Since he was appointed by former President Olusegun Obasanjo to his current position five years ago, Mr. Soludo, who was a university lecturer before joining the Obasanjo administration, has demonstrated a taste for high living, travelling in convoys of as many as seven vehicles, impeccably and expensively dressed in bespoke suits and heirloom watches, and generally enjoying a lifestyle that cannot be afforded by anyone earning about N1 million a month.
The mansion occupied by his family in the exclusive London suburb is registered to Universal Energy Limited, an offshore company controlled by Emmanuel Ojei, the flamboyant tycoon with many business interests, including oil and gas.
It is not clear under what arrangement the Soludos live in this £2.1 million home; Mr. Soludo is not telling us. He has spent the past three weeks avoiding us and made promises to answer our questions that he has not kept, hoping that we will simply go away. Damn, you're good, I just wanted to confirm that all of this is completely true, I know the house very well |

The truth that is undisputable is that the unity of igbo's and roruba's is simply the libration of nigeria and alsodownfall of hausa/fulani's. Hey Bro I've been screaming on this forum for weeks about this, it is so straight forward too! |
