PhysicsHD:Mate, seriously, I have provided as much info as possible, if you don't believe it, its fine! |
Superego:With all due respect, I don’t think you can put Nigerian (alleged) revolution in the same category of the new wave of people revolutions in North Africa, Middle East, and Other parts of Africa even though Nigerians did display incredible patriotism and bravery. This new wave is something else, and the main catalyst is the modern information age, in other words, it is internet induced, and services and information delivered by WikiLeaks, and Social Networks (i.e. FaceBook, Twitter & Forums) have played a crucial part. For the first time, citizens of the world are getting free unfettered access via the internet and this scenario is enhancing the citizens ability to effectively organise, protest and demonstrate all over the world. This is an era where State sponsored propaganda is coming to an end as it is no longer feasible for Nation States to control information. There are exceptions of course i.e. China, but in General, the genie is out of the bottle. Thank God for the internet |
cold:Ijaws are warriors, when they capture a King, believe me they will brag about capturing a King! No Ijaw group has come out with any statements about this at all. Folks can believe what they want, but just remember there is a difference between the truth and propaganda. I trust my sources. Below is an old thread that explores the issues, https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-547731.0.html |
GAME OVER! Some believe, the minute you bring foreign forces/elements to quell demonstrations, and subsequently kill your own citizens, you have committed a treasonable offense! |
This issue is so stupendous that I’m beginning to think that the way the info was leaked to the media and timing reeks of electioneering propaganda. ![]() |

KnowAll:Bro I agree with you, but there is a lot more to it, the whole damn country has to be purged. It’s about targeting all Africans that keep the masses in abject poverty, it’s about this malfunctioning system that we have got where locals will sell out to Oyinbo, and Oyinbo is defined as anybody that is non black, Europeans, Abrabs, Chinese, Indians, damn the whole thing makes me sick. But yet there are those that would suggest that we are making progress, and things will get better one day! |
We can’t even curb financial extortion amongst the Police Force, whose Officers openly accept bribes, so who do we intend to use to carry out the arrests, PLEEEEASE! |
excanny:And his name was 'Samuel', Samuel What?, and what is the sons name? The easiest thing to do would be to blame the Ijaw! Blame the Ijaw and start beating the war drums! As we speak there are Ilaje Oba's on high alert that have temporarily left their residences due to this feud. |
excanny:So where was the body of the murdered ‘Samuel’ then? Why was the Oba abducted? How was the Oba rescued and to whom was the ransom paid? Did the Police rescue attempt involve negotiations? Was there a shoot out? Why was nobody arrested? Which group of Ijaws assumed responsibility for capturing the Oba? What is the full name of the aggrieved son (ex-militant) that abducted the Oba? |
This will be a huge test for the Yoruba to see if they can stand for justice and reform the Obaship. There is a conflict of interest in an Oba using his position to consolidate his control of the mineral rights of the polity. The (cursed) Oil belongs to the people and should be used to improve the social conditions of the people at large. Lastly , I pity the individuals that have seized this unfortunate incident as a moment to jest about the loss of life of the innocent, simple citizens in rural locations that are just striving and barely making a living. It is an extremely callous opportunistic attitude to exploit the suffering of others. I have had running physical and verbal battles with European men over their claims of African inferiority. The bottom line is that we appear to be still locked into a primitive atavistic world view, where we tend to concentrate on cultural differences such as that of language and polity location as opposed to being able to identify and eliminate our common threats. I have always argued that if the ‘Slave Trade’ was in operation today, there would be no shortage of Nigerians that would fight to sustain it. The implication for Nigeria and particularly Southern Nigeria is still the same. All this is happening because of our ‘MALFUNCTIONING STATE’. Life is perceived to be so cheap, people committing weekly atrocities with impunity, babies are butchered and life goes on. Our civility and humanity has been breached and nobody cares. If we cannot fix the State and its apparatus to function correctly, then it’s time to start arming our communities so that they can start protecting themselves. God bless Africa. |

Seriously againstGEJ, how can any Nigerian Leader prevent a Website from being live on the internet Do you seriously understand the processes that are involved in setting up an internet site? I think you're being 'alarmist' on this one, stick to your message that his administration would be more authoritarian, but don't peddle non factual statements, because that will not help your cause. |
againstGEJ:1. Why create something that you will not be able to control? 2. Why create something when your sphere of influence will not extend over it? 3. How sustainable is this as FG policy, is the government willing to produce enough boarding house places for all of the affected (10 million or more)? 4. How does this encourage 'parental responsibility amongst Nigerian citizens? 5. Considering it is tax payers money that will be used, do tax payers get a say in this? 6. Can the FG justify such a discriminatory policy as just applying to Northern Nigeria when there are Children in all parts of Nigeria living in abject poverty? |
Rhino.5dm:Rhino.5dm, I take my hat off to you respectfully, because what you are saying is so obvious. The level of objectivity of certain Nigerians is absolutely frightening. All one has to do is look at the problem of the Madras houses in Pakistan to verify what is being said. I seriously fear for the future of the country. |
Obiagu1:Monarchs are kidnapped to limit subsequent reprisals. Nevertheless, kidnapping a monarch is an insult and considered an act of war. |
alj harem:Like I've said before, wherever you get Southerners disputing, arguing, debating our differences, Alj Harem is always there twisting the knife and exploiting our differences. "Divide and Conquer". Its a real shame that we don't get to see that many threads about the differences of Northerners on this forum where Northerners openly argue about social problems that they are afflicted by. |
According to research, the Ilaje (Mahins et al) have always had a very early presence in Lagos. If you do a Google maps search for Mahin you will understand why. However, the Ilaje trace their roots back to Oduduwa, and are affiliated with the Yoruba (fact). Nevertheless, they do share a river dependant life style and relationship with the Ijaw, so much so that they are intertwined but at the same time distinctive groups. They also share a common deity, Ayelala (a god against treachery, wickedness, dishonesty and evil), which legend has it ironically came into being due to a conflict between both the Ijaw and the Ilaje. This is ‘OUR’ anthropological story of Human Evolution in the Niger Delta, and Southern Nigeria, we are all intertwined. |
EzeUche_:It's about the content of my message and not the colour of my fonts. In a U.N. sponsored referendum, these areas will be able to go which ever way they want. |
Oh no, this is an extremely bad idea! Apart from the obvious, the discriminatory nature of the solution, where the FG effectively is acting like a 'Welfare State' and is not going to be pumping the funds into more general'Boarding Houses for Orphans', but specifically targeting a problem created by 'religious beliefs', my main question is "who is going to monitor these boarding houses"? Will the FG monitor what is being taught or whats going on in these boarding houses? Or will the FG build the 'boarding houses' and then observe the religious rights of the group(s) as is the practice now! If the answer to the poised question above is 'NAY', the FG will not monitor the Boarding houses, then we could potentially be creating a massive problem for ourselves in the future. We could be building Boarding houses that will be converted into terrorist training camps that will be used to wreak havoc on the rest of the population in the future. The point is this alleged 'Solution' might actually create a problem in the future. This is also an issue that has been discerned in Pakistan. |
ziddy:Nope, I just don't like injustice, and I don't believe in taking a nap in the face of impending danger and doom! It's all about strategy and logic, period. |
Delaying the inevitable is hampering progress and holding back development in this part of Africa, just as the British colonial vampires intended. The Pro-Sharia Islamists of the North have accepted that the country is going to split and this is now all about ‘consolidating more territory around Abuja, which is the main prize that they want (see the map below). Unfortunately, the Pro-Sharia Islamists are better military strategists than people give them credit for. Whilst Government of the FR tries to appease them, they carry on their plan to annihilate all micro polities in their path. This is also why they will never accept any form of ‘cease fire’ agreement. Citizens of Nigeria, Please, please, please, don’t sell out the people of Jos!!! The Northern States that adopted Sharia would be better served to combine forces and form a new Nation State,"you can't have your cake and eat it too". You cannot have Jos too, and you will have to split Abuja!

An absolutely fantastic idea, a great solution, well done! |
I predict, if GEJ wins the elections things will get worse as disgruntled Northern elements will exact revenge on any community that they can. Even OBJ has insinuated that the violence is being instigated by Northern leaders. Please save or bookmark this thread, and be prepared. |
Hey Onlytruth, the minute we as Africans start being objective is the day we stop CRAWLING and start STROLLING with dignity and our heads held high. Onlytruth: |
ROSSIKE, I use language to inspire ACTION. There is nowhere I know of in the world where babies get chopped in the head and does not provoke a nationwide reaction from the masses. On that note, Go F*U*C*K your mother you encyclopedia regurgitating, progress hyping demented Gibbon. You love to pick fights, go and tell the peeps of Bauchi and Jos that all the information they have been posting is false. What a D*I*C*K-Head! This country needs to be purged and it's people like you that love to conceal and distort the truth that is part of the problem. ROSSIKE: |
ROSSIKE, you are free to believe in what you want to believe in, but don't you insult me. The fact is that there has been waves of attacks over the past few weeks that I have found extremely disturbing. These attacks have been reported in certain sections and via several sources, in the same week that the Governor of Jos was weeping, the President was completely silent. Even OBJ has made comments about it and you have the audacity to question my Patriotic zeal, you think I've got a vested interest in disseminating false propaganda? Seriously, you continue to spread your false info because it does not fit in with your bias of potraying progress at any cost, yep I'm sure you are extremely OBJECTIVE, but don't insult me. BTW, a lot of UNI students post images in the conflict affected areas, as they occur. ROSSIKE: |
The truth is that Africa does need a revolution, it has to be purged, the type of individuals that were involved in selling our Citizens to Alien cultures for Centuries still exist and they have to be wiped out. The enemies within have to be wiped out! The strategy has now changed, the new phase of exploitation is to enslave the masses within the African continent and the Leaders and powerful elite are being used to perpetrate the injustice, the same type of individuals that were involved in selling our Citizens to Alien cultures for Centuries in the past. The Chinese used to be in a similar position, until they took control of their resources and now are using a form of 'National Socialism' to develop and gradually improve the social conditions of their people, and at this rate, they will become the number one Super Power in no less than 20 years. Even though I'm a capitalist by nature, one can't dispute these facts! |
