Nice thread.

I stopped worrying about what others think sometime ago...and it's absolutely paying off. The people that one is trying to 'impress' sef have their own crosses to carry, so, you will discover at the end of the day, they weren't that paying attention and you didn't live YOUR life.

Life is too short to be unhappy. ..let alone because of ordinary human beings.

RIP to the sharp-mouthed comedienne.

Some of her crude jokes that I can remember:

Commenting on a pic where Kim Khardashian is in a white dress, entering a black Jeep: 'It's nice to see Kim entering a black stuff this time 'cos she has been famous for black stuffs entering her grin'.

Commenting on a female musician (can't remember who exactly): 'I disagree with you Giulana, I hate this dress on her. And the dress reminds me of her career: ugly, unsuccessful and very short'.

Wow!

I want to assume you were in haste when posting this. An edit would do; and please, punctuation marks where necessary.

Not that 'English-speaking/writing' is the ticket to getting a job though. .. don't mind me.

speedyboi: Sholay, good points. I have often said Nollywood problem is not Story, but how to tell a story WELL. Any dumb story can be made brilliant, it's all a matter of how it's told.
Thank God we can agree on something grin grin
TV/MoviesRe: Saworo'ide, Ti Oluwa N'ile, Thunderbolt, O'leku And Agogo Eewo. Which One Rules? by sholay2011(m):
I know most people will choose either Saworoide or Oleku but for me, it's 'Thunderbolt: Magun'.

I think it's a better movie as a whole compared to the others. ..and a pitiable character was the heart of the story.

Also, I love the major message of the movie : " Irrespective of your race, colour, sex, background etc, whether you're Yoruba or Ibo or Itsekiri sef, there are only two types of people : the good and the bad".

2. Have you ever been out in public and someone recognized you as the owner of Nairaland, screamed and asked for an autograph or even attacked you?

3. What's your faith like now? Still an atheist?
Really nice questions. ..especially numbers 1 & 2.

TV/MoviesRe: Opinion: My 1001 Problems With Nollywood By Sanchez01 by sholay2011(m): 5:29pm On Aug 31, 2014
I agree with most of your points. Your writeup is quite organised. Thumbs up.

We're getting there sha, I believe. But my own problem with our storylines or stories is not just that they are predictable (many hollywood movies are, especially book adaptations and biopics), but the way they are told matters more. You can give the same log lines to two scriptwriters and the scripts they would produce would be VERY different, in many aspects, and one script could be quite good and the other...trash.

That's what I'm still trying to unravel and learn as a scriptwriter. 'Silver Linings Playbook' could have been the usual romcom, but the way it was told made us connect deeply with the characters, laugh and cry with them, and even feel their pain. We need to sharpen how we relate our stories in aspects such as dialogue, symbolism, artistic descriptions, interweaving of characters, arrangement etc.

And please sir, we get genres for nollywood.

When I said 'official', my intention was to commend your organised writeup...not accuse you of plagiarism or wateva. tongue

Btw, aren't you a Nigerian? undecided
