In what appears like a payback time over Nigeria’s closure of its borders in 2019, the government of the Republic of Benin has stopped Nigeria-bound trucks laden with transit goods from Cote d’ivoire, Ghana and Togo from passing through its border to Nigeria. This development has left over 3,700 Nigeria-bound trucks laden with transit goods worth several billions of naira trapped between Ilakoji, a border between Ghana, Togo and Benin. As a result of the closure, Daily Sun learnt that the Benin government has imposed a new import duty payment of CFA 9 million, per every transit truck laden with Nigeria-bound goods, an equivalent of about N6.5 million which, are exempted from all forms of duty under ECOWAS protocols on transit goods. Confirming the development, the Chairman of the Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents (ANCLA) Seme border chapter, Bisiriyu Fanu, said Benin authority actually stopped the cargoes that were coming from Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana and Togo to Nigeria passing through Cotonou land, Ilakoji and Seme border. Benin government wants to be collecting full duty on those goods, adding that the authority claimed they suspected that the goods are not produced in West Africa. “They don’t even give any reason why they stopped the goods because when we asked them, they said they were investigating. What they are investigating nobody knew. The Benin Republic Controller at Seme border said they didn’t give Ilakoji any circular. Because some of our colleagues that have their trucks trapped, they could not cross Ilakoji border to Benin even entering Seme border up till now. According to him, what is happening is between Benin President and Nigeria President. He said that when Togo and Ghana wrote to ECOWAS, the Cotonou Government said Togo and Ghana never offended them that it is Nigeria they want to deal with. He explained that ideally a transit goods is not supposed to pay a kobo because in the transiting country, it will just pass through, adding that Nigerian government has not done anything to intervene up till now. The most painful thing for me was risking my life coming all the way from north to Lagos for the test. I hope it will be different this time. best of luck to the invited ones. |

The National Industrial Court of Nigeria (NICN), Kaduna has ordered Globacom Limited to pay $69, 212.38 to its former Installation Technician, Souleymane Thera over unlawful termination of his appointment. Justice Lawal Mani in his judgment also ordered the telecom company to pay Thera, the sum of $11,000 being his 11 years’ vacation allowances. The court further ordered Globacom to pay interest of 10 percent per annum on the judgment sum from June 22, 2017 till final liquidation of it. In his judgment, Justice Mani noted that hearing of the case commenced on May 2, 2017 when the claimant opened his case and testified as CW1, adopted his written statement as his evidence in chief and tendered eight exhibits. The claimant had through his counsel, Abdulkarim Maude told the court that he was employed by the defendant as Installation Technician on September 22, 2004. He stated that by the terms and condition of the employment his consolidated salary package was $42,000 per annum and that by internal memorandum dated October 10, 2006 signed by the Executive Director human Resources, his salary was reviewed upward to $50,000.00. The claimant stated that on July 23, 2007 he received an internal memo signed by the Executive Director Human Resources informing him that his annual salary has been increased to $70,000. He added that his appointment was terminated contrary to the terms and conditions of service as contained in the letter. The claimant averred that he was not given 60 days’ notice nor was he given any one month salary in lieu of notice contained in the letter. Besides, the claimant stated that upon the issuance of the purposed letter of termination, he instructed his solicitors to write a letter of complaint to the Executive Director Human Resources of the defendant. The claimant averred that the defendant failed to respond to several letters of demand for his entitlements as contained in the terms and conditions of service but to no avail. Counsel to the claimant in his final written address argued that it is trite law that rules of court are bound to be respected, failure of which judgment may be entered against an adverse party. https://guardian.ng/appointments/court-orders-telecom-firm-to-pay-ex-worker-80-212/ |

Takbeeratul-ihram is a waajib (compulsory). so WAAJIB that without it, you have not prayed at all. If you meet Imam in ruku position, 2 takbeers are due upon you. The first takbeer is for Ihram and the 2nd one is for descending into ruku. Kindly edit that bullet point, it is obviously an unintended mistake or misunderstanding. May Allah increase us all in knowledge and understanding. |
RevDesmondJuju:I think it is absolutely unseemly of you to mention this under this thread. Firstly, below are the actual words of Sheik Ibn Baaz on the said matter: “According to the people of knowledge the Earth is round. Indeed, Ibn Hazm and other scholars have declared that there is consensus on this matter among the people of knowledge This means that all of the surface of the Earth is connected together so that the form of the planet is like a sphere." "Nevertheless, Allah has spread out the Earth's surface in relation to us, and He has placed upon it firm mountains, the seas, and life as a mercy for us. For this reason, Allah said: "And (do they not look) at the Earth, how it was spread out flat (sutihat)." [Sûrah al-Ghâshiyah:20]" "Therefore, the Earth has been made flat for us in regards to our relationship to it to facilitate our lives upon it and our comfort. The fact that it is round does not prevent that its surface has been made flat for us. This is because something that is round and very large, then its surface will become very vast or broad, having a flat appearance to those who are upon it." Secondly, Sheik bin Baz updated his knowledge and belief on the shape of the earth after talking to Prince Sultan bin Salmon Al-Saud who had spent time in a space shuttle flight in 1985 and saw what earth looks like from a far point of reference. That is a man who was able to unlearn and relearn. Thirdly, relationship between man, space and time has always been a RELATIVE one. For instance, sunrise and sunset, when in actual fact, sun neither rises nor sets. But in relation to us, sun rises when we can see it and sets when out of sight. same goes for the shape of the earth. Mr fault-finder, wouldn’t everyone be retarded for believing sun truly rises and set? If you are truly half-learned and intellectually enhanced as you may want us to believe, you should at least know you need to do more than just copy-pasting to make some cheap mischief. |
Abu Huraira narrated: The Prophet said, "When an adulterer commits illegal sexual intercourse, then he is not a believer at the time he is doing it, and when a drinker of an alcoholic liquor drinks it, then he is not a believer at the time of drinking, and when a thief steals, then he is not a believer at the time of stealing, and when a robber robs, and the people look at him, then he is not a believer at the time of robbery. A believer is momentarily not a believer when commiting any major sin (not praying, adultery, not fasting etc) for his faith at that moment flees him like a bird flees a coming danger, then comes back to him when he is done and repents. How futile could someone's life be and what could be more inexplicably painful! A believer who lives only to die a disbeliever in such an ill moment! For a believing muslim, every moment matters May Allah make abstinence from sinful acts easy for us all, prepare our minds to uphold sunnah and unite the ummah in love and understanding. A Bosnian Muslim (Senad Hadzic) walked 5,650km (3,503 miles) to make a pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia, and says God kept him safe in war-torn Syria. "I walked across seven countries, two deserts, 5,650 kilometres, without money only with a rucksack weighing 20 kilograms" Senad Hadzic "In Serbia, people came out on the street and gave me a hat, or some socks," Hadzic says. "In one case, a professor in Serbia invited me to stay in his house. This Serbian professor, who was a Christian, told me that I was the first Muslim who had stepped in his house in his life. It was a great honor for me." Senad Hadzic "an officer in President Bashar al-Assad's army asked me to pray for him in Mecca, if I managed to get out of Syria alive". Books on Islam are selling out in France after deadly extremist attacks in the capital raised uncomfortable questions about Europe’s fastest-growing religion. A special magazine supplement focused on the Koran has flown off the shelves, and shops are selling more books on Islam than ever after the Paris attacks in January that left 17 dead. “The French are asking more and more questions, and they feel less satisfied than ever by the answers they’re getting from the media,” said Fabrice Gerschel, director of Philosophie magazine, which published the supplement. Sales of books on Islam were three times higher in the first quarter of 2015 than this time last year, according to the French National Union of Bookshops. http://www.punchng.com/news/islam-books-sales-soar-in-france-after-paris-attacks/ |
