All these sounds strange to me...
IITA is meant to be an international organisation with international standard and practice.....
so how much influence do these nigerian men have in the institute to be able to establish their exploitative tendencies as a norm...
I'm also aware there are quite a number of whites working in the institution....
Even the M.D is a foreigner.....
Do they also engage in all these practice or they look the other way....

What happened when the north struck in July 1966 and fajuyi was slaughtered like a beast in his zone nothing ,Yorubas did absolutely nothing.

What happened when ogundipe was kicked out of the seat of power in July 1966 even as he was supposed to take over as the most senior military official, nothing, Yoruba's did absolutely nothing.

What happened when Abiola was sent to jail for winning and election and killed in jail with his wife kudi rat slaughtered on the streets of Lagos, nothing, yorubas did absolutely nothing.

What happened when the mouth maker obasanjo was bundled to prison over trumped up coup charges with all the Yoruba generals and top military officers, nothing Yoruba did absolutely nothing.

What will happen if osinbajo is chanced by the North and displaced from m taking over from buhari ,if chinakwes dog bites the dust, nothing Yoruba's will do absolutely nothing.
Sending awolowo to jail was the single most important factor that led to the truncation of the 1st republic and the bloody aftermath......
As for abiola, the northerners didn't kill him, the international community did. Just like they killed abacha....
Both had to go for semblance of stability to return to the country....

This got me thinking. Igbos here are in the habit of boasting about their women being the most beautiful in Nigeria bla bla bla.I don't get it.They even call women from other tribes ugly shocked shocked
You hear them saying things like: "When Biafra is achieved Nigeria will lack beautiful women". Is it that they haven't visited other regions or what? Because to me as a well travelled dude, Igbo women are not as beautiful as nairalanders want people to believe. Am not saying they are ugly but I can name 5 tribes off the top of my head with way more beautiful women than the igbos. My question is why do you all boast when the prettier ones lay low?
I will be posting some pix of women from various tribes just to show beauty of different tribes. The only Igbo pix I will post are those that have been uploaded on NL by Igbos themselves. Dont want no accusation that I picked 'bad pics to discredit igbos' or shii like that.

You're contradicting yourself here

Do you have a new iPhone for 120k or 150k?
Do you have new S8 or Samsung flagships for 100k or 150k? Capital NO!!!

Thank Goodness you mentioned BB. That's the iPhone of 2010s. Used blackberries were the best selling phones then cos they wanted to get it

The best selling Samsung phones aren't even the flagships. They are the sub $200 low end waste of phones.

Sell an S8, Mi6 and iPhone 7 all new at 100k to 100 people. 60 or more will go for the iPhone, 30 for S8 and the remaining 10 for Mi6 which is where choice is.

You can't tell me if everybody could afford a flagship phone, you'd see Tecno, Gionee and Xiaomi everywhere. Lmao. Put a 500k price tag on any Android and it's gone with the wind. Only Apple can do that and get away with it.
But samsung s8 plus is close to that.....
And people are buying it....
I'm typing with one now and I bought it for over 800 pounds....

The tribalism sown by awolowo was yet to infiltrate the academia and they elected their VCs based on track record same way Zik defeated Awo. That's quite explicit asiwaju.....
Since we pride ourselves in education, we should use education as the springboard for National development and economic progress.
We must invest in education, that is the only way out or else we will end up like other mediocre African countries, stuck between underdeveloped n developing economy.....
Great emphasis should be placed on STEM: science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
The nations that have successfully transited from 3rd world to 1st world had STEM as their educational bedrock......
we must exploit the human resources among our people by educating them properly.......
A new education curriculum that is tailored towards the need of the nation must be designed and rigoriously enforced, right from primary school to university......
The ultimate goal is to produce an educated and equally skilled workforce.
Technical education must be emphasised in our schools, we need to produce a skilled workforce that can work in factories and production companies.......
It's not about wearing shirt n tie, looking for non existent office or govt jobs......
The useless education policy/curriculum that promotes paper certificate we presently use in nigeria must be thrashed apart n thrown into the dustbin where it rightly belongs.....
We must build a substantial part of our economy around the IT/ tech industry and educational policy must reflect this.....
IT is the future, what we see today is just the beginning.....
It has already eclipsed the oil industry as the biggest industry in terms of revenue......
Serious countries are investing fortune into this sector while nigeria is yet to have a IT policy......
Our ICT minister main concern is how to be the next governor of his state.....
The tech industry also has what it takes to create millions of jobs for our youth if properly harnessed, Indian IT success story is a case study......
Agriculture and natural resources can be other source of revenue by using modern technology and IT to develop this sectors.
The era of promoting cocoa as the main source of revenue for the nation is gone and nobody should take us back......
This 2017, not 1960.....

I'll come back and talk more on national development of SW Nigeria in case of restructuring or secession.......

I'd rather Osinbajo contested and lost in 2019 than he chickened out of the race because of fear of what the abokkis will do.

The abookis themselves will salute our cowardice if he did that.

It is easier for the abookis to agree to restructuring under Osinbajo as president than under a Fulani.

The ball is in our court.

Infact, I see PMB backing an Osinbajo presidency in 2019 from wherever he may be.
Hmmm......

I think osibanjo presidency is the pawn we need to restructure this country.......
We should only support odibanjo in 2019 if he agrees to restructure.....
I know deep down osibanjo wants this country restructured n if given the chance he will do it......
We should push him to do it........
There's no better time to restructure this country than now.......

Ironsi was not part of Awolowo coup. He was a party pooper.

The North were still angry that Nzeogwu and his boys killed their leader, and are demanding their heads , Ironsi was still looking for how to appease them,
And you expect Fajuyi to start telling Ironsi about Awolowo release, same Awolowo the Northerners are still angry that he had the guts to try to usurp Balewa government? Do you know why Awolowo was imprisoned in the East rather than the North to start with? grin
Do you take Fajuyi for a fool? Of course he knew they must bid their time.

Do you have any evidence that directly links him to the coup?
A statement by any of the coup plotters or something of that nature.
Concluding that because Fajuyi was a Yoruba(fajuyi's involvement is still debatable)and was at the Battle Course with Nzeogwu et al. Makes Awolowo the reason for the coup is a farfetched.
He was not released by Ironsi after the putsch. How do you stage a coup for some1 and not release him afterwards?

The treasonable felony charge was put together by Balewa and Akintola to ensure that he was imprisoned since his arrest came on the heels of the fracas in the Western House between Akintola and Dauda Adegbenro.

Balewa sided with Akintola and ensured that he was reinstated even when the Awolowo & the majority wanted him to leave his seat.

How does it makes sense?
You mean he'll record himself planning a coup with Jakande and the rest?

Well Zik was a rival, directly or indirectly. So why would he have spared Zik?
And for someone like Awolowo who you all often call a tribalist for his commitment to the Yoruba nation,I don't think he'll allow any Igbo take part in a coup he intend to stage, whether as pawns or not.
It's unlike him.
Pls ignore that guy called pazienza.....
His obsession with fajuyi is appalling n outright ridiculous.....
He's been parroting that nonsense up n down nairaland despite glaring contrary evidence.....
Neutral eyewitness account including ironsi son clearly stated what happened that night.....
Danjuma clearly said they came for ironsi and not fajuyi....
David ejoor even said in this interview that fajuyi was a collateral damage......
As for the nonsense about awolowo, ask him why fajuyi n ironsi didn't release him from jail when they assumed power.....
Since according to him, fajuyi received directive from awolowo.....

A major source of foreign-exchange earnings for Nigeria are remittances sent home by Nigerians living abroad.[22] In 2014, 17.5 million Nigerians lived in foreign countries, with the UK and the USA having more than 2 million Nigerians each.[22]

According to the International Organization for Migration, Nigeria witnessed a dramatic increase in remittances sent home from overseas Nigerians, going from USD 2.3 billion in 2004 to 17.9 billion in 2007, representing 6.7% of GDP. The United States accounts for the largest portion of official remittances, followed by the United Kingdom, Italy, Canada, Spain and France. On the African continent, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Chad, Libya and South Africa are important source countries of remittance flows to Nigeria, while China is the biggest remittance-sending country in Asia.

Thanks for the lecture! I live in the UK so I'm privy to the laws of the land.
A child minder is different from a maid. It's child minders that charge 10 pounds and higher not maids and with child minding, you take your kids to them not the other way round.
The reason is that much is because of the certifications and risks that come with childminding.

So I say again, quit the gross exaggeration.
I don't really think the Nigerian kind of domestic servants exist in UK i.e the living-in maids......
I guess it's just too expensive......
Only the upper class can afford such.....
I don't know how much they pay maids, but I'm sure it doesn't come cheap.....
There was a time I wanted employ the services of a maid to wash my bathroom regularly....
I was told it's going to cost me 20 pounds per hour....

bros, this your wailing is a consolation, urbanization simply implies houses clustering together in a nucleated settlement, as against igboland with dispersed settlement, yorubaland is highly urbanized, but urbanization has nothing to do with better standard of living. zinc takes less than 30 years to rust, so your excuse about age is untenable, secondly, when zinc rusts, the right thing is to change to aluminum, when mud house becomes shaky, you demolish and built decent block house, if you can't do any of these, it is lack of wherewithal and not those flimsy excuses
I agree with u, but another option is to build a new house.....
At least that's what my dad n his siblings did.....
Thus abandoning their grandfather's house.....
Yoruba towns urbanized very early n the development was right in the the town centre....
This explains the nucleated arrangement of ancient houses in Yorubaland.....
New houses springing up are mainly in the outskirts, where land is cheap and purchase has less problems......
If ur notion is Yoruba people don't build modern houses, then u get it all wrong.....
In Yoruba hinterland, people don't live in rented apartment for long duration.....
U gather whatever money u have and build ur own house, whether u be upper class or working class.....
Although,I'll admitt they mostly build bungalows.....

Now coming to erecting mansions in places where u don't live.......
Yoruba elites in the 80s n 90s did just that.......
Building mansions in their home town n celebrating it with so much pomp n pageantry.....
It was the rave then n wealthy men competed amongst each other.....
Unfortunately, those houses are abandoned today........
People now make reference to those houses, not because of their elegance, but......
A reminder of how not to waste ur money in the time of plenty.......
A perfect example is a place called shokaz estate in IJEBU Igbo.....
I remember sunny ade calling it paradise on earth......
It doesn't look so anymore......
Now will u blame the younger generation if they choose to build in places where they live or has prime real estate value......

Maybe you need to explain that inferiority complex part cos I don't understand the correlation between what I said and inferiority complex. Secondly, drug peddling in the East is a socio-economic problem and I'm sure many easterners aren't proud of it either-with proper reorientation it would be eliminated. I called for a southern secession because there is a whole lot the East and west can offer each other, but with this childish online bickering I doubt it. Also we have to consider the fact that Yoruba Muslims would become minorities hence may resist the idea so the idea of a southern secession may not happen. So we may all have to settle for independent countries. Lastly I don't hate Hausas and fulanis but I think its better everyone goes their separate ways.
