All these sounds strange to me... IITA is meant to be an international organisation with international standard and practice..... so how much influence do these nigerian men have in the institute to be able to establish their exploitative tendencies as a norm... I'm also aware there are quite a number of whites working in the institution.... Even the M.D is a foreigner..... Do they also engage in all these practice or they look the other way.... Cos I just dont get it.... |
kn23h:There is no better time for enactment of the hate speech bill than now.... Social media in nigeria is no more than a gutter platform where anybody can come n vomit loads of rubbish..... |
kettykin:Sending awolowo to jail was the single most important factor that led to the truncation of the 1st republic and the bloody aftermath...... As for abiola, the northerners didn't kill him, the international community did. Just like they killed abacha.... Both had to go for semblance of stability to return to the country.... Right now, the unpredictability of nigerian political landscape is too intense for anybody to play game with it.... Best bet is to allow for the rule of law...... A word they say is enough for the wise.... |
brightnelly:In india n South Africa, duty on imported cars is 150%..... They don't allow used cars into their country.... No wonder they have a booming motor vehicle industry.... There is innoson, Nissan, lizade in this country.... Is their anything wrong if we patronize made in nigeria cars.... |
win2kwire:her husband isn't John Shagaya..... |
Henryyy:Don't let what people post on social media get to u..... U are getting worked up unnecessarily over nothing..... Social media is a public toilet where anybody can comes to vommit thrash..... Stop living ur life for social media n stop taking it too serious...... The real life is offline......... |
Omofunaab2:I'm Yoruba but was taken by surprise.... Especially the real estate n property development in lekki n Lagos in general..... Thought most of those estates were built by Chinese, Lebanese n some corrupt govt officials..... |
I guess most people didn't read the article, only commenting on the begging stuffs.,.... Full implementation of cashless policy and having a real national database will really help in proper taxation and preventing tax evasion...... It should also be a bottom to top approach rather than from federal level downwards.... Thus, local and state govt needs to be carried along if it will be successful... |
Igboesika:The man in the pics isn't demola ajayi... Demos ajayi is a professional photographer who exhibits cultures thru pictures..... |
omooba969:As a Yoruba guy, I just love this picture...... I don't know why.....
|
Decale:But samsung s8 plus is close to that..... And people are buying it.... I'm typing with one now and I bought it for over 800 pounds.... While iphone 7plus goes for like 750 pounds..... I agree iPhone brands makes it the bestseller..... But it's all about personal choices not necessary the money.... |
Osibanjo will complete this term in any case buhari is incapacitated........ Nigerians will decide what happens in 2019....... |
Ogbuefi2020:UI n unilag we're federal universities in the 50s and Zik rightly appointed thier VCs...... Why he chose igbos is left for him to answer..... But Pls, don't twist history to suit it narrative...... |
koladebrainiac:Didn't the bank secure collateral n guarantors b4 granting them loans...... I'm sure if they default or abscond to the new nation, the banks will simply take over the defaulter's property.... I guess that's why most igbo elites are not too enthusiastic about the biafra project.... For those who collected salary loan or via cooperative... I think those will be used a collective bargaining tool during secession negotiations....... |
Markfemi2:Nothing to read..... Tell us igbo political or sociocultural leaders that has come out to support biafra..... Then u calling Yoruba leaders cowards will be justified.... |
That's quite explicit asiwaju..... Since we pride ourselves in education, we should use education as the springboard for National development and economic progress. We must invest in education, that is the only way out or else we will end up like other mediocre African countries, stuck between underdeveloped n developing economy..... Great emphasis should be placed on STEM: science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The nations that have successfully transited from 3rd world to 1st world had STEM as their educational bedrock...... we must exploit the human resources among our people by educating them properly....... A new education curriculum that is tailored towards the need of the nation must be designed and rigoriously enforced, right from primary school to university...... The ultimate goal is to produce an educated and equally skilled workforce. Technical education must be emphasised in our schools, we need to produce a skilled workforce that can work in factories and production companies....... It's not about wearing shirt n tie, looking for non existent office or govt jobs...... The useless education policy/curriculum that promotes paper certificate we presently use in nigeria must be thrashed apart n thrown into the dustbin where it rightly belongs..... We must build a substantial part of our economy around the IT/ tech industry and educational policy must reflect this..... IT is the future, what we see today is just the beginning..... It has already eclipsed the oil industry as the biggest industry in terms of revenue...... Serious countries are investing fortune into this sector while nigeria is yet to have a IT policy...... Our ICT minister main concern is how to be the next governor of his state..... The tech industry also has what it takes to create millions of jobs for our youth if properly harnessed, Indian IT success story is a case study...... Agriculture and natural resources can be other source of revenue by using modern technology and IT to develop this sectors. The era of promoting cocoa as the main source of revenue for the nation is gone and nobody should take us back...... This 2017, not 1960..... I'll come back and talk more on national development of SW Nigeria in case of restructuring or secession....... |
Viergeachar:Hmmm...... Good one here...... I think osibanjo presidency is the pawn we need to restructure this country....... We should only support odibanjo in 2019 if he agrees to restructure..... I know deep down osibanjo wants this country restructured n if given the chance he will do it...... We should push him to do it........ There's no better time to restructure this country than now....... The present state of the nation demands it....... Osibanjo should only agree not to contest in 2019 if the northerners agree to restructuring between now and then..... |

pazienza:Did I ever tell u the jan 1966 coup was an igbo coup..... It's well documented that the whole nation initially welcomed the coup...... Nzeogwu controlled the northern part of the country for a period.... But subsequent action or inaction of ironsi and igbos in general forced people to have a re-think...... What u guys are yet to understand is that the world don't operate on conscience..... Most especially politics, that's why it's called a dirty game.... When I was young n naive, I read ademoyega book and I swallowed everything he wrote.... The guy never accepted blame or saw anything wrong in what they did..... But now,I know better...... What ironsi should have done was to ensure ademoyega n his colleagues were tried n executed promptly..... Their action had caused a lot of tension in the country..... Forget the motive or that he benefited from the plot...... Action speaks louder than any good intention...... He should have killed them to calm frayed nerves...... That's what ojukwu did with banjo, ifeajuna n co...... And ibb with his best friend, vsata..... |
pazienza:Your opinion doesn't count..... Bring out irrefutable evidence that supports your claim.... At least there's evidence awolowo wrote to ironsi pleading for clemency..... Why didn't he write to fajuyi..... Show us evidence linking fajuyi to awolowo and any role they played in the jan 1966 coup... |
Origamist:Pls ignore that guy called pazienza..... His obsession with fajuyi is appalling n outright ridiculous..... He's been parroting that nonsense up n down nairaland despite glaring contrary evidence..... Neutral eyewitness account including ironsi son clearly stated what happened that night..... Danjuma clearly said they came for ironsi and not fajuyi.... David ejoor even said in this interview that fajuyi was a collateral damage...... As for the nonsense about awolowo, ask him why fajuyi n ironsi didn't release him from jail when they assumed power..... Since according to him, fajuyi received directive from awolowo..... |
InyinyaAgbaOku:Nigeria[edit] A major source of foreign-exchange earnings for Nigeria are remittances sent home by Nigerians living abroad.[22] In 2014, 17.5 million Nigerians lived in foreign countries, with the UK and the USA having more than 2 million Nigerians each.[22] According to the International Organization for Migration, Nigeria witnessed a dramatic increase in remittances sent home from overseas Nigerians, going from USD 2.3 billion in 2004 to 17.9 billion in 2007, representing 6.7% of GDP. The United States accounts for the largest portion of official remittances, followed by the United Kingdom, Italy, Canada, Spain and France. On the African continent, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Chad, Libya and South Africa are important source countries of remittance flows to Nigeria, while China is the biggest remittance-sending country in Asia. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Remittance |

Tinkybabe:I don't really think the Nigerian kind of domestic servants exist in UK i.e the living-in maids...... I guess it's just too expensive...... Only the upper class can afford such..... I don't know how much they pay maids, but I'm sure it doesn't come cheap..... There was a time I wanted employ the services of a maid to wash my bathroom regularly.... I was told it's going to cost me 20 pounds per hour.... I did the job myself..... |
MXrep:I agree with u, but another option is to build a new house..... At least that's what my dad n his siblings did..... Thus abandoning their grandfather's house..... Yoruba towns urbanized very early n the development was right in the the town centre.... This explains the nucleated arrangement of ancient houses in Yorubaland..... New houses springing up are mainly in the outskirts, where land is cheap and purchase has less problems...... If ur notion is Yoruba people don't build modern houses, then u get it all wrong..... In Yoruba hinterland, people don't live in rented apartment for long duration..... U gather whatever money u have and build ur own house, whether u be upper class or working class..... Although,I'll admitt they mostly build bungalows..... Now coming to erecting mansions in places where u don't live....... Yoruba elites in the 80s n 90s did just that....... Building mansions in their home town n celebrating it with so much pomp n pageantry..... It was the rave then n wealthy men competed amongst each other..... Unfortunately, those houses are abandoned today........ People now make reference to those houses, not because of their elegance, but...... A reminder of how not to waste ur money in the time of plenty....... A perfect example is a place called shokaz estate in IJEBU Igbo..... I remember sunny ade calling it paradise on earth...... It doesn't look so anymore...... Now will u blame the younger generation if they choose to build in places where they live or has prime real estate value...... |
Statsocial:Hey, watch your tongue young boy...... There's nothing like Yoruba Muslim...... I wonder where u get that phrase from, a phrase only used by hopeless ipob bigots..... A Yoruba is Yoruba, we are not divided along religious line....... Funny enough, the so called Yoruba muslims don't have time for Biafra.... I'm yet to see a prominent Yoruba muslims speaking against Biafra..... So I really don't understand your thought process....... I support your stand on an independent or autonomous Yoruba nation.... But that phrase is highly unnecessary and just so wrong.... |
If u guys don't want traditional rulers to be paid, then return their lands n properties back to them...... They they can lease it out and collect royalties from their properties..... This was how our traditional rulers earn a living before the white man came and messed things up for everybody..... This kings existed before the politicians, governors, senators or president..... So why should their roles be expunged, just because the white man created a system that turned the odds against them..... Turning traditional rulersto beggars and stooges to governors..... I'm not sure the queen of England earn salary directly from the govt.... But she has properties worth billions of pounds scattered all over England..... She makes a living from inherited private estates, personal investment portfolio, land lease, grants...... The UK govt didn't seize those properties from their royal families....... Thus allowing them financial independence....... We should do same for our traditional rulers...... |
wurabecca:That's why Africa is at the bottom of the food chain.... We hype sex too much..... Even the white men noticed it when they first arrived 100 years ago....... Unfortunately, not much has changed..... |

You would rather take out your frustration on THE LIBERAL YORUBAS than call a spade ♠ a spade. Even when the abokiz served your sorry arse with a quit notice, all you could do was vent your anger on my dear people.
