jogojogo: Jesus!!!Sowp now takes 37weeks and VV 224days through the new portal. If you have kids u need 4k each for them. My own perspective Where did you see this please? Thank you @Anndav. Check online it is there. I check everyweek cos of ny spouse application it was 30weeks last friday. Hoping the time reduces so that i can quickly use that to claim that processing time has pasted.... Thats my logic though |

Deronke1: Also please is 8m proof of funds enough for student visa and sowp for a 5m first year tuition fees. Aside tuition you need 10k cad for your living expenses depending on the province you are going which is around 4.5m now black market rate, then you also need some 2 to 3k cad for others which will be channelled towards ur flight booking and other miscelleneous before you now consider 5k cad for you spouse. And it is adviseable you put morr than you need cos the exact amount of money might not fly. If u intend to use Nigerian student express route you need to show 30k cad for you alone then add your spouse 5k depending on province also 5k is (other provinces) i think its now 6k in quebec. That shows that the 8m is not enough for you yet. But you could be smart in that u apply for yours first use ur spouse as home tie get to canada pay the 5m for tuition then put the 10k in Cad account and add the 5k for your spouse also. It is faster to verify canadian bank account by VO than nigerian bank account aside that you appear to have larger pool of money to be able to bring him/ her in through sowp or VV route. Sowp now takes 37weeks and VV 224days through the new portal. If you have kids u need 4k each for them. My own perspective. |

Deronke1: Hi guys, so my husband and I are planning on applying together. Him for student visa and I for Sowp. I currently work at nafdac, just 1 year and its my only work experience. I've taken many online courses. What are the criteria for sowp? Am I eligible? Please help as we don't want to make a mistake My candid advise is that from my experience except your funding is huge and ur ties here is very strong the Visa officers perspective especially to candidates from nigeria is that we want to elope so it will be hard to convince them. I was in ur shoes before i applied with my family and it was denied so i reapplied alone and it was approved and i have now restrategized and applied for sowp for my spouse still waiting though but some gurus did same and it worked out well e.g @ stonnage @ akannitommy and the likes. There are also people that applied as family and was granted ooo but its a lot easier alone considering hometies, financial and the nigerian factor |

Teluv: really, so i have to go through the regular route Yes you have too. But you could try visit visa through the new portal and apply for your spouse open work permit when he/she arrives in canada it takes 180days to get sowp with canada. But the visit visa on the new portal also has a 94days span now which is almost or around 3months. |

jce: From what I have seen, there are people that get their ppr within a space of 3months while some up to a year, is there a reason for this Yes two things are involved from my perception. Stand alone sowp takes the longest time but sowp with full vaccination status and study permit application included for kids is treated faster becos of the study permit involved but you can only attached a study permit if ur kids are 5years and above for quebec or 4years and above for other provinces. Even sowp with visit visa for kids takes time too. Thats what i have observed on this trend for a while now. |

Please, how do I get in touch with my MP? Ontario? You need to contact your Mp and also keep mailing. Although the processing time for visit visa now is 94 days (3months) so that could also be the reason. |

Naturalobserver: Okay let me make it clear I applied to study in Canada last year through an agent. Paid 500$ (CAD),235$ (CAD) for visa and 250,000 naira for State Of Account Got Letter Of Acceptance from the school..Lambton college in Sarnia,Canada. I paid 2000$ CAD as deposit for school fees. Did my biometric 2nd week of April 2021.Since then no satisfactory information from the agent. He kept on telling me he hasnt heard anything from the embassy and concluded its because of covid.Anytime I ask him he kept on saying nothing yet maybe cuz COVID..I dont even have access to any of my account.. It was nothing until December last year I started doubting him when he told me he paid 150$ for GCMS note and with the information I get here i havent seen anything like paying money for GCMS note.To make it worse he was advising me to just apply for UK and started stating all the requirements, that was when I got angry and told him to send me all the money I have given him so far that am no longer interested in pursuing the Canada admission anymore ... He sent the part school fees I paid ..{$2000 (CAD)} and my passport...I asked him what about the remaining. He told me the remaining money were used accordingly so I just ended the call immediately..I actually went for biometrics so on my own am removing the $235 for visa and the $500 for admission because of the ACCEPTANCE Letter I got from the school...But I still dont think the State Of Account has been used hence the reason for my question..I will be grateful to get useful information...Thanks I didnt get a part of what you explained please. Paid 500$ for what? I know application and biometrics cost 235cad, and 250k for statement of account. Please clarify. Also Gcms note is just 20cad for the e notes so the agent took advantage of you to collect 150$. Now you need to do somethings to get out of this mess. From my experience the agent didnt pay your tuition deposit becos there is no way he could have gotten the money back from your school so fast or probably you were already denied before he requested for the tuition deposit. Also, you need to get your details from him and if he is kind enough he could give you the notes he requested that will really help you and save you from a lot of mess. When i said details i mean all the submitted documents so that you will know the whole details of your past application your lon in details. If you get the gcms notes you will see details of what happened to your application. You cannot just cut off the agent yet you must do this and act now. You risk a ban of 5yrs if they issued you a procedural fairness letter and with you said he do not know anything about it. @ legacy edition has given you a way out to link your old application that is a really good way |

Omiinii: So you haven't received a decision from your application and you got rid of the agent that applied for you. I believe you need your application details if you're still interested in this journey, Best you talk with your agent about it to release your application Information. As for the statement of Account. I understand that you yourself didn't submit your own bank statement. You paid your agent 250k to arrange POF for you to which you were ultimately left out on how he/she got such. It's very risky to do things like that. I'd advise you talk to your agent as only he/she can explain what he or she has done and submitted and you can weigh your options of either withdrawing your app so as not to affect your future Immigration intentions or even your case file towards Immigration to canada |

I have a question: I just noticed that the processing time in Nigeria is currently at 45 weeks and the processing time in Ghana is 11 weeks, would it be wise if I go to Ghana to process my SOWP? Also, how do I show strong ties? My parents and siblings are back here. Don't have a job yet. My spouse has a study permit and her ties is her federal government job.
Please I need response.
cc: Justwise If you can stay in ghana to apply and have the requirements from there becos i believe u need a police report from there too. You can use landed propertises and personal establishments/business as well ur parents and siblings too as home ties. |

The current status for your husband and children's application is that the criminality and biometrics have been passed. Medicals were received on December 29th 2021. Eligibility is still in progress. I will contact IRCC in a month to check on the status of your application.
Has anyone received this kind of mail from an mp before? Please gurus in the house what do you think? How can one interpret this? Especially that last part that the would contact in a month to check on the status...
A little throwback. On Feb 2021, we applied for sowp and study visa for my spouse and kids to join me here in canada (I am on study visa). When we didn't here form them we applied for visitor visa for the whole family under the new visitor visa platform on October 2021. Still no word... we then started with webforms telling them that they've exceeded the normal processing time (more than 50 business days now). All we got is the usual generic emails until we contacted the mps office who sent us the email above. Don't even know what to think with this reply. The anxiety is something else. Wetin una think...Is their hope of feedback or nothing in at least a month time?
I got something like that too the Mp schedules monthly meeting with IRCC until a final decision is made and communicated to you. Atleast my mp does that for me monthly for the past 3months now with another one for Feb 8 2022, but i do remind him via mail not to forget the follow up |

Dopekidd: Hello everyone, please I need your opinions and possible solutions on this. Early 2020 my uncle introduced my parents to a Canada travel agent who collected 300k to help me do student visa. He only took my passport details and family details, and didn't ask for any of my documents I did biometrics few weeks after he started and for good 10 months he didn't give me any feedback but just kept saying they haven't sent a response due to covid 19 I got tired of waiting around then reached out to someone who advised me to send an email to Canada embassy and explain everything cos I do actually have my application number I did send the email and two days after I received a response with a letter attached in it, they've refused my student visa since April 2020 which was barely a month after I did biometrics and this bastard agent kept me in the dark, that was when I knew he had finessed me (it was a generic refusal by the way). It was a whole lotta drama after that which is not even pertinent to why I'm here. Fast forward, I asked the agent to give me the whole details he used for my application, he printed it out for me and I went through everything, could you believe this bastard agent filled Lautech for me in my educational background meanwhile I didn't go to lautech but finished from another university. He probably used fake docs to secure admission for me, i dont even know. Now if I wanna apply again, I dont know how to go about it because they already have that information the agent put down which is wrong PS: I have my gcms notes
Thank you. As advised by @makano please check very very well to know the details of the whole initial application, then send ur gcms notes here to be disected by the gurus then you can now start from there. But be sure to brace youself up that you will definitely write a strong LOE to explain the disperity else, they might see it as misrepresentation and probably issue a procedural fairness letter which if not responded to can lead to a 5 year ban. Nevertheless, as it stands now with good guide and doing things right you can get a study permit as well just put yourself together and start with the initial step of getting all the details. Please i know it hurts but even if it takes you going to speak calmly to the agent to get these initial details it is worth it. |

TUOladeinde: Thanks, i have been able to apply using gcmsonlie.com.
To answer your questions: My husband was my sponsor I did not include my own bank statement, i however included my payslips At the time of application, i paid the deposit then paid the full tuition to avoid losing my admission with the school. The person helping me with the application raised a webform to that effect. There were no lump sums. I used my husband's dollar account and fixed investments statements as proof of funds. I however applied with my 2 sons. I guess that's where the issue of dissatisfaction with home ties in Canada and home country plus personal assets and financial status arose from. After getting my gcms notes, can i reapply alone? Also the bolded apart from what my boss @Anon has pointed out could also be a problem. Now the fixed investment was it used as home ties or POF? If it is pof then their might be an issue becos they would prefer to have it as a liquid capital that can be utilized to enhance ur finances. Now you can get a letter from the place where the investment is fixed to show that it can be converted to cash anytime it is needed. Another angle too is for the kids accomplying you did you include their finances with ur POF? As at now, i think for other provinces aside quebec u need 4k each for each child so that 8k cad in addition to your 10k for living expenses and if in quebec you need 10k for the two kids plus ur 11k living expenses which will amount to 21k for living expenses alone then your fees for tuition as well as flight and others which is termed as others and this is around 3k cad. Haven said all these, the best way to know the exact angle to tackle this is ur GCMS notes that would really give a clear pointer to the issues. |

atoke2021: Also do you have any suggestions on what else can be used as home ties- we already used his farmland, his job, his payment stubs, his parents and siblings I’m Nigeria.
The only thing I’m thinking is maybe to talk about some projects he has carried out as a consulting engineer on some projects but those were freelance stuff. Would appreciate any other thing that can prove strong home ties. Thank you. You might not to add more but you might just need to proof how the ties you have can actually bring him back. Just logically come up with an LOE to prove that. Also sometimes the VO that access each application are different with different perspective and psychological reasoning. You might still submit the same application and still get approved i mean without changing anything. Try and writing a convincing LOE of things that can bring him back and of course for every point add a document to show proof. |

atoke2021: Hello guys, I just wanted to share my experience on here. I applied for a SOWP for my husband in september 2021. While waiting, i decided to apply for a visitor visa on the new portal- i did this on the 8th of December, we were denied today on the 20th of December- we were refused based on family ties to Canada and home country and travel history. I am still reeling because we showed his land documents, his current employment, his pay stubs and bank statements with 14,000 USD.
For the travel history, i dont really know how to tackle that because he has never traveled out of the country before and i dont know if they are expecting us to start traveling for the sake of traveling. I wanted to ask how this refusal would affect the SOWP application that is still in progress. Since this visitor visa was applied for after the SOWP, do i have to send a webform to IRCC letting them know of this refusal? Is travel history a big thing that is a reason for refusal?
I also want to ask if you think its a good idea to pay for the services of an immigration lawyer if the SOWP gets refused to redo the application again, i have started looking at it costs like 3000 to 5000 CAD and we want to start saving up for this if we need to do so. Also, should i consider applying for the GCMS notes considering that its taking like 2 to 3 months to get them and we don't intend on applying for another visitor visa unless there is no progress on the SOWP by end of February 2022.
Background on me- i am a fully funded phd student in Canada and i also showed documents of my funding which is guaranteed for 5 years.
Would really appreciate any insights you might give.
Thank you guys. From what you highlighted the reasons are generic but you can get a full picture of what the VO is saying by applying for GCMS notes that will help tackle all the mentioned concerns. With that said dont worry ur self about travel history its always added as a norm sometimes in cases of refusal. I was also refused study permit at first with that included as one of the three reasons but i tackled the other two and wrote in my LOE reasons why i needed to travel now. From your funding and the Proof of Funds it seems the rejection isnt as a result of finances but mainly as a result of home ties so I will suggest you think about bigger things that your spouse is attached to in Nigeria that is strong reason to bring him/she back. Employment bond, aged parents and probably siblings, more propertises etc. In the main time since the documents submitted for both applications (Sowp and visit) are the same i think sending in an LOE via email or webform to address that part wont be out of place. NB: I am not a guru also my spouse Open work permit has not been approved too since July so please wait for the advise of other senior members. It is well. |
