FamilyRe: Debrief, cotton101 and those that came out alive. Got A Few Questions For You. by slimyem: 8:50pm On Oct 26, 2012
pak: The question I've always asked are -
1. Is it possible for a woman not to see any trace of violence (even if it is just verbal) in a relationship with a man who will later turn abusive ? as in, could it have been hidden in the way he treats siblings, friends, neighbours, subordinates even though he might have been nice to you initially ?

2. Or is it possible for a perfectly calm and easy going young man to turn to an abuser after marriage ? For those who have heard of or seen cases relating to the topic. Have you seen a situation where a man who is perfectly adjusted in his relationship with society turns out to be an abuser when he gets back home.
I have answered this question twice today but pyguru hid my answers and banned me twice...
Overtime,i have come to understand that "anyone" can act for as long as they want.Only the truly discerning, cautious and non-desperate person can discover the real person inside of the act!
Time changes people, situations do the same.It brings silent and hidden parts of people to fore.
...and Yes,i have seen people switch from cool, calm, friendly and loving to mean, fearful, and unfriendly overnight literarily....and yes, changes with no meaningful or explainable trigger sometimes.
Nothing is 100 percent certain in life.No relationship is..no human is.
Getting involved is mostly a risk...but when the situation becomes unbearable and life-threatening,isn't it just best to save yourself??

FamilyRe: Would You Marry Your Fiance Who Got Physically Impaired Few Weeks To D Wedding? by slimyem: 1:59pm On Oct 26, 2012
Seriously, the wedding would have to be put on hold for a while....
Something had changed and that something in this case is a big deal that will change everything..
It would have to be carefully and sincerely thought out before taking such step.

freecocoa: Ladies please I have a question, If a guy beats a girl one time say a few months into dating, should she leave and never look back? As in is one time enough to know a potential abuser?
If any guy i'm in a relationship with as much shoves me to fall anytime....any day..it ends instantly!!
FamilyRe: Debrief, cotton101 and those that came out alive. Got A Few Questions For You. by slimyem: 11:19pm On Oct 25, 2012
debrief08: I don't know how many times I will answer this question but Freecocoa, no he wasn't, no signs, I have said it a thousand times that he got influenced by instant sucess and riches which attracted his dad back to his life, he got a big job, a huge contract on the side which allowed him to own some oil blocs, that was it. No signs, it just happened
The bolded reminds me of a thread i started some time ago about how you almost do not know a man's true behaviour until he's financially comfortable from personal experiences....https://www.nairaland.com/1026638/cannot-truly-ascertain-mans-behaviour
This futher strengthens my belief around that..

Guitarlife: I'm happy for you and your baby but please stop making it seem like those that have never experienced divorce are cursed. You make it sound like divorce is a major seasoning required to spice up a womans life.
Let women realise your decision to divorce was the best of two evils. They need to understand that divorce is evil but it is a much better choice than choosing to be murderred.
And you failed to mention anything positive thing about your marriage or your man.
You related with a man up till the point of walking down the aisle and you can not even remember one good thing about him.
You realise just how opinionated you are now, do you ?
Isn't the bolded what the women telling their stories on this thread doing??....apart from the "divorce is evil part"...
Where are you missing the point? huh

TV/MoviesRe: Ever Been Emotional While Watching A Movie? by slimyem: 7:29pm On Oct 25, 2012
ezme: BLUE VALENTINE - Made me realize that love could be overrated.Love alone would not make a relationship work, level of education of parties in a relationship affects the union. It takes a real man to accept to be the father of a child you know isn't yours right from the first trimester.
that movie made me scared of love and marriage......

Why are you wow-ing??
Don't you know the kind of social acceptance that comes with being married and staying married no matter how hellish the situation is??
Don't you know how important the word "Mrs" is?
Don't you know that only a virtuous woman builds her home against all odds and non-virtuous women walk out when the situation becomes unbearable?
Don't you know that all men cheat and all women are supposed to accept, forgive and live with that when their men do it?
Stop wow-ing o...

berem: babe! I don't know about debrief's story.if you notice,I don't visit Family section.I just started that recently.I know what am going thru in my marital life but am not the type that really share my story online to seek for advice.I am an employed woman and I don't need any man's money to take care of myself.I can't get a divorce because I know how its gonna affect my kids.I know how hard I have been trying to sustain my marriage because of my husband's infidelity but I thank God for what he has been doing in my marriage.I think its left for the poster to make her choice! Whatever action she takes it left for her but let her don't do anything that she might regret later.
i don't mean this as an insult but seriously, your mentality surrounding this issue is fvcked up....and big time too!!

Op,he did it the first time...it hurt you but you forgave him!
He has done it again...its hurting you but he has apologised and you will forgive him!
This man knows you'll always forgive him everytime he cheats..and that's his license.
He'll do it again ,it'll hurt you more and for you it'll be business as usual-patience,endurance,forgiveness,virtuosity all for him..!
.
The question here is how much can you take?
How much are you willing to forgive?
How long will you remain "the virtuous woman" in the eyes of the world while dying slowly in the real sense?
