@Frosbel, Loving God and our neighbour is all we need to do like you say. However, do you know what loving God entails or loving our neighbour? Jesus narrowed it down to two commandments but a lot springs forth and this is what true christians do today. Calling people names (when you do not know all information required) does not constitute loving your neighbour, backbiting and slandering does not include loving your neighbour, bearing false witness does not include loving your neighbour. Loving God entails following his commandments, laws and words and it is a lot o, we need God's grace and mercy. |
@Joagbaje, Like i always say, the inspiration is from the word of God. Keep labouring in the vineyard of the Lord and leave those that do not preach the word, help the needy or sow to their ignorance. Afterall, the Lord God is the judge. One thing I commend you for is that you back a lot of your statements with scripture and this will never make you ashamed. I pray the Lord will give us the grace to run the race set before us and help us grow and develop more in Him. |
EarsWide:@Earswide, This is a big eye-opener. Common, get a life now. The same bible you read says He has given us the commission to make disciples of all nations and preach the word but you are comfortable to make the bolden statement and much more you sit down behind your computer screen and make mockery of the efforts of others that do? ![]() Ha! All I can tell you is that God will ask that day that what did you do with what he gave you. I would rather you pray that you have a good response to it. This is a big pity. Sincerely, You claim to go after 'the charlatans', have you thought it wise to compose an email of all your convictions and send it to these men since quite a number have their emails on their websites? When Paul rebuked Peter, did he do that to his followers or he went to face him directly? Why have you not done this, why are you taking up the task of the devil? Earswide, whether they are right or wrong, fake or real, what have you done to your fellow brother and how are you fulfilling the great commission. You would rather take the easier way of tearing down since you cannot build up. What value are you adding to the body of Christ? You have not won a soul for Christ but it is easier to castigate people doing the work? May God have mercy on you. @Joagbaje, You have said it all. Lot of things going on in the churches today show to tell us that we are not perfect but we cannot live on an island, we need to love, pray rebuke people directly if need be. I hope all those things people have said here against all these men can be said to their faces. A lot of criticisms people give show that they do not understand and even when they do, there are always better ways of doing things. May God help us o, let us focus on our purpose. |
@OP and all, in everything in life there is a give and take. There is no vacuum. The law of sowing and reaping is very true. That is why they say 'whatsoever you sow, you shall reap'. In giving financiallly, give to the Lord through helping the needy, tithes, offering, caring for parents and all with a pure heart. Most of those I see that are being castigated here for tithing also help the needy and give, I therefore wonder what the issue is. For those who don't tithe, it is your conviction, do what you can. @frosbel, you might find it useful to preach the gospel than always castigating the catholic church, tithing and false prophets. Preach life and people will be more blessed than opening every thread on these 3. Living holy requires a whole lot, lets focus on weigthier matters pls. Cheers. |
@Kennyyo, but abraham met the priest on his way when returning from battle. All he had would have been the spoils of war, which were technically his as he fougt for it, and this is what he gave a tenth of to the Priest. Pure logic. Was there any other account of Abraham meeting or welcoming or going to meet a Priest again? |
babseg:I think Joagbaje has answeed your question. Getting married in the lady's chuch should not make any church stop you from taking holy communion. Usually I know that in Ibo land (if both are ibo), the traditional wedding is done in the wife's place while the church wedding can be done in either the man or woman's church. However, if the bride is from another tribe, the wedding ceremony is done in the bride's church or bride's parents church. Please clarify which is the case. Going to church does not mean you are born-again though it is needed as a born-again Christian. John 3:16 says that God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believes in Him will not perish. If you take and confess Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour and believe on Him while confessing and repenting of your sins, then you will be saved and you can say you are born again. So you need to have that personal experience with Christ Jesus. You will also need to study the holy bible and live your life according to the word and by the help of the Holy Spirit. KunleOshob:And how has your post answered the question of the OP? Kindly make it more informative. |
Inner City Missions, keep up the good work of helping the needy. God bless you. For all those who never see anything good in this mission's act but rather judge/castigate it, keep it up. God will ask you what you yourselves have done to help people in the same measure and scale you judge these people. Better have a good response then. Matthew 7:2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. Cheers. |
Wow! I praise your name Jehovah for the authority given me by your Son Jesus Christ to approach you with confidence. Father Lord, you are great and awesome. Glorious Majesty, I live to worship you. My whole being worships you. |
@OP, Thanks for the insight. It needed a study of the word to initially understand this but thanks for the Holy Spirit, it is truly a 'meat' message and not for 'milk-drinkers' at all. If only we Christians know the authority given to us in Christ Jesus, we would stop living apologetic lives. Wow! I likened it to a judge/justice and a lawyer/advocate in the law court. Christ interceeds for us while we stand before God and Satan accuses us. Christ is our advocate to The Lord God Almighty (our supreme justice/judge). What would have been the case if we had no advocate (those without Christ), we would most likely not present our case well and might not get justified. However, Christ who came in human flesh understands us men and He therefore pleads our case to God while we commune with God directly by the blood of Jesus and through faith in Him. Ephesians 3:12 In him and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence. Hebrews 10:19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus I John 2:1 My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have one who speaks to the Father in our defense--Jesus Christ, the Righteous One John 16:26 Then you will ask in my name. I'm not saying I will ask the Father on your behalf, That is why He also showed us how we should pray 'Our Father, who art in Heaven, ', while He (Christ) is our defense when the devil accuses us for God not to hear us. However@OP, you might need to state that this message is for those who are in Christ as it is they that have this authority. Paul & Christ were not just talking to anyone here. Though a lot of those that 'drink milk' (babes) too will never understand this message either till they grow. |
Image123:Image123, God bless you. Never has this scripture 'jumped out to me' more than what you just expantiated. Thanks for the insight. |
MrBible: These pastors will burn in the hottest oven in hell AMEN, AMEN, AMEN Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things. (Romans 2:1)MrBible:Luke 22:30: 'so that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom and sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.' Meaning Christ never gave you that authority for earthly use. MrBible:All the pastors you have been condemning, have you met them 'many times'? Now you are feeling hurt when I did not even judge or condemn you? Keep living your double standards. |
@MrBible, Ironically, the scripture is reflecting exactly what you have been displaying here. It's obvious you came here to castigate pastors and your own wife. I am therefore not surprised that simple advice is a problem for you. I thinks its now understandable why the pastor prefered to hear about your wife's 'investments' than hearing you out. Na you get dey vex and get problem with your wife, solve it the way you deem fit. |
MrBible:MrBible, Isn't this what I have been trying to tell you in the below. Since you know the 'rule' to be applied to your marriage, why don't you start it being the head? It's obvious when you are always quoting scripture on the duty of the woman to your wife while not fulfilling your own duties. Snowwy:I think the problem you are having with your wife is jealousy. You are just so angry she has 'investments' and you don't as you have been harping on this same word since you have been posting. You are now transferring the aggression to the church and pastors. You truly are an angry man. Bottom line, calm down and follow the advice of loving your wife as Christ loved the church. Simple! |
@MrBible, Did you see that Christ did not tell the woman that she could go now as she is free from the law? The 'Curse', 'Death' which the woman who committed adultery would have experienced is what Jesus 'nailed to the cross' not 'Do not commit adultery'. Jesus even said that if you look at a woman lustfully, you have committed adultery. So you see that one has to be purged in his mind first before he can obey God's laws. Do you get me now? The Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus set this woman free from the Law of Sin and death. Same thing for 'Do not kill'. If you hate your brother, its like you have 'killed' him in your mind. Thats what Christ means, infact it is even harder now to obey that is why the Hol Spirit is there to guide us. Christ surmarised the laws of the OT by the new commandment He gave us which is to love God and our neighbours. That is what the whole law and the prophets was hinged on. Understand better now? |
@MrBible, do you know you can relate this post on laws to your marriage? In the OT, the laws were given to the people and out of fear maybe a great number obeyed it. You see your wife obeying you as her duty, whether out of fear or just for peace sake, she obeys you strictly cos its her duty. Imagine her now obeying you because she truly loves you and that deepens the undertsanding of her duty to you as her husband. In the first case she obeys you based on 'law of duty'. In the second case out of love and faith and devotion with a pure mind? which do you prefer? Thats an illustration of how the law applies in the OT and the NT. MrBible, love your wife as Christ loved the church and gave His life for it. I tell you your wife will respect you more than you will ever imagine. You are the one that came to complain here so its only you I can advise. Ask God to make you see your wife as Christ sees His bride (the church), i tell you you will come and testify here that you guys are going on a second honeymoon. Have fun. |
MrBible:The scriptures you keep quoting is obvious enough to show you that Christ became the curse of the law and that was what His death delivered you from not from obeying the laws of God. Do you know these laws of God? You seem to, please give examples. The same bible says we are under grace through faith but does grace abolish obeying the laws of God? God forbid. Now we obey God not due to the carnal mind or fear of punishment but because we love Him and the Holy Spirit enables us. God's laws are now written in our hearts and we act on it is through the help of the Holy Spirit cheers |
![]() @MrBible, No wahala. If my giving you good advise, (I think both of you should have discussed it, gone to see the Pastor for any futher counselling (if needed) and made up together. However, try and resolve this amicable, prayerfully and peacefully) on how to resolve your marital issues makes you term me 'evil pastor', I now know why you are annoyed the man didn't hear you out. Sorry ok for bothering to advise. |
MrBible:Your faith was always meant to be in Jesus Christ in the first place. This is where your issue is. However, glad you are looking back to Him who is the author and the finisher of our faith. MrBible:In the context of the above statement, the Pastor 'taught' based on a scripture verse in the bible. You are yet to say if the statement is right or wrong based on this context. As per the issue with your wife, I think, you guys both need to come together and try and resolve the issues yourselves first. You went to report her to the Pastor and feel bad that the Pastor seemed to favour her. I think both of you should have discussed it, gone to see the Pastor for any futher counselling (if needed) and made up together. However, try and resolve this amicable, prayerfully and peacefully. Marriage is a joy! |
@ Mr Bible, It seems even a muslim is having better understanding of the law and the 'handwriting' of the law than you do, as you claim the law is abolished. The verse you quoted says 'handwriting of the law' meaning that its the 'letter' that was abolished and not the Spirit. Read Excerpt below: Now if we meditate on these scriptures, we can see what Jesus nailed to the cross, and what was contrary to him; (Ephesians 2:15) "the law of commandments contained in ordinances;" (Colossians 2:14) "the handwriting of ordinances;" (Hebrews 7:16) "the law of a carnal commandment;" (Hebrews 9:10) "carnal ordinances;" What Jesus abolished was carnal (or fleshly) commandments and ordinances, and hand written ordinances. Carnality was what defeated people in the Old Testament, and prevented them from keeping the law. Because the blood of bulls and goats did not remove the sin from the heart (Hebrews 10:4), people were often stuck in bondage to sin (Romans 7:14-24). Why? (Romans 8:7) "Because the carnal mind is enmity with God; for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be." As long as people are carnal they are "sold (like a slave) under sin." (Romans 7:14). The enmity is the carnal mind (Romans 8:7), and this is what Jesus slew on the cross (Ephesians 2:16). What replaces it? Spirituality and a spiritual mind. Jesus was our example; he was a spiritual man and came to do the will of the Father and keep the law with the law of God written in his heart. Burnt offerings are not acceptable. I think I have showed you the scriptures, about twice now, on it, yet you gloss over it. Your mind is made up bro, don't hide behind that nevertheless. |
Thank you Lord for the gift of your Son to mankind. Thank you Jesus for being my advocate. Thank you Holy Spirit for being my comfort and gently leading me along the way of truth. May your name be praised, you are highly exalted. There is no me without you Lord. |
@OP, Your answer is in Hebrews 10:5-8. Using my phone so I can't paste scripture. Cheers. |
@Earswide, I had actually noted the error after I posted but wasn't able to send another post to correct it. Thanks for the correction however you needn't be smug about it. Was wondering why you were trying to be conspiratory afterwards, however, its obvious you were just 'lying in wait'. You have obviously overlooked the good that was done to the young man by the sincerity of Joen something you wouldn't have done based on your posts. Not to worry, the reward for his action isn't from you so say all you like, it doesn't change the fact that a life was saved. Kapish. |
@Earswide, You yourself said you will keep 'Going after' Joe. Are you not 'shadowing him'? Please if that one is now an insult, then you insulted yourself. Please move on and stop barking against the wrong tree. You don cool down now shey? |
'Hounding Joe' is now seen as 'the good work'. What will one not see in Nairaland. Weldone o, Joe's shadows. That's why they always remain behind 'hounding'. |
Worry? Do I post like I am worried? I am 'commending' you for finding your purpose in life, you say I should not worry. I am not worriedn Jo's shadow. While 'finding out the charlatans' please remember to put something better instead. Don't 'tear down' without building up and while at it remember to pray for them. That is very important. |
It just means you don't even understand what a hypocrite means even though you defined it. 'Straining at a gnat'? Do you know what that means at all? Do you understand parables? |
No qualms Earswide. Keep going after him. You know what that means? You will remain in the shadow of Joe. You implied it yourself. Obviously you have found your purpose in life. Weldone. |
You really make me laugh. Calling someone a hypocrite is now an abuse? I though you were the pro in defining words. Didn't you define what a hypocrite was, where was the abuse in your definition? I rea lly laugh at you cos this shot of yours is a poor one. I wouldn't bother quoting your abuses. It's not necessary. |
@Earswide, So why are you asking for proof that he raised a dead girl to life ![]() After the proof he has given you which you failed to verify? You want pictures abi? You keep confirming your hypocrisy. No need to resort to personal attacks cos that's the only place you seem to have an upperhand. Christians need not abuse people ok, its not Christlike. |
Welldone Joe, once again. See someone teaching what is Christlike yet going all over nairaland abusing people. Hypocrisy at his peak. You had no proof that the girl that died was actually dead and you called Jo a liar. :e gave you proof of someone he helped you said it was for self gratification. Not even looking at the fact that this person who would have died is now alive. It shows how 'christian' you are. Just try to be objective cos this hate you have is really making a mockery of you earswide. |
@Earswide, Thanks for defining your hypocrisy once again. Obviously you meant us to believe you would do the first two options meanwhile you found it hard to believe Jo would help. Its not hard to deduce that its people like you that would have driven past the guy without batting an eyelid. Is that not hypocrisy? I say it once again, you are a hypocrite! Go remove the log in your eyes and stop straining at a gnat. May God deliver you! |
