nferyn:
It's a secular humanist celebration marking the first steps into independence of the child. I think it's something peculiar to the Belgian situation. Belgium is in majority Catholic and the children of Catholic parents celebrate their communion and confirmation. To give the children something similar from a secular perspective, the humanist organisations ain Belgium came up with the lentefeest. It has no special significance among humanist, but it's more something that is organised to ensure that the children don't feel excluded and that they too have a big party among family members with lots of presents, just like their Catholic classmates.
had never heard of it before this. one more thing ive learnt on seun's nairaland! grin
by the way are you bringing up your kids as humanists? just curious. cheesy

FamilyRe: Tribal Mark On Your Child. Don't Laugh by spoilt(f): 4:29am On May 22, 2007
such major decisions should be left to the parents to make. i hate when grandparents interfere. she had no right to do that. why mutilate an innocent child. tribal marks used to be used in the old days to easily identify people from your village or clan. do we still need it now in 2007? im spitting mad right now and i dont even know the couple. what rot? angry

in the same vein, im currently growing my baby's hair. its quite bushy and my mom threatened to cut it when i go to work. if she trys it she'll know that butter is not the food of a monkey. i'll get mad for ordinary hair talk less of tribal marks. if you dont let them know where you stand from the get go about even the littlest issues next thing you know they'll be performing major operations on your child without asking you. angry

FamilyRe: Life At 30 When You're Not Married by spoilt(f): 10:59pm On May 20, 2007
to all the single thirty somethings out there. enjoy your youth, your freedom, your time, your space, your everything. marriage is hardwork and your life as you knew it will be officially over. i kid you not. there's always pressure to pair off. instead of fretting about having a ring on the finger. better yourself right now and enjoy being your own person. at least for now! grin
FamilyRe: Prenuptial Agreements by spoilt(f): 5:06am On May 20, 2007
well to really rich guys. its not always about youth and beauty. dig deeper for a woman with real substance. and do marry someone who has a real career and her own dough. the whole prince marrying the slave girl thing and making her a princess is old and unrealistic.
FamilyRe: Life At 30 When You're Not Married by spoilt(f): 4:58am On May 20, 2007
there's definitely pressure from all quarters for older single women. family members are even more frantic than you are. they think you can never be happy without a man. be happy with yourself first. love yourself. and remember having a man doesnt solve all your life problems. undecided

FamilyRe: Prenuptial Agreements by spoilt(f): 4:46am On May 20, 2007
i blame the guys sometimes. really rich men have a bad knack for marrying real thrashy women. im sorry but they never seem to marry women with good heads on their shoulders. somehow they've been around groupies for so long that they no longer know what a virtous woman looks or sounds like.
heather used to be a topless model and word has it she used to be a high class escort when she was much younger. everyone knew that. what do you expect?

FamilyRe: Prenuptial Agreements by spoilt(f): 3:49am On May 20, 2007
we see marriages ending after 15 to 20 years. i guess you can never really really know a person. its just very bizarre. i guess for us average mortals its not too bad. having or not having one really doesnt make a difference.

but to those who have a lot of money, its difficult to know who really loves you or loves your wallet. people will be humble and true during courtship only to grow horns later. it just seems like a sensible thing to do especially for those who have a lot. if only for the sake of the children. gold diggers shouldnt be able to reap where they didnt sow for chrissakes. why would anyone enable them? angry
TravelRe: Woman Loses 11.8 Million Naira To US Immigration by spoilt(op): 3:42am On May 20, 2007
@davidylan

does the direction she was carrying it in matter so much? grin everyone already assumes guilt because she was heading out of nigeria instead of into it. i guess we are used to people taking funds home. anyway im sure if she had been carrying this money into naija it would have caused even more furore than it already is. (as per immigrants taking all the jobs and repartrating all the funds home!) they hate that! well i guess she has learnt her lesson.

I wouldnt know why the fellow beckoned to me and no he didnt do that to all others as far as i can remember.
my point exactly. you will be picked out for closer scrutiny for no reason, its always subtle and very politely done. grin
FamilyRe: Prenuptial Agreements by spoilt(f): 3:23am On May 20, 2007
having a pre-nup doesnt mean you don't love your spouse. ive also seen women walk away with half a man's wealth for doing nothing. these bimbos just walk in and out of the marriage casually without adding value to the man and then take away his hard earned cash. inasmuch as we may be in love, we should be smart in love.  grin
FamilyRe: Single Parenthood - Trendy Or Trashy ? by spoilt(f): 3:19am On May 20, 2007
pearl2:
It seems I have not seen anybody mentioning the fact that some government policies here in the UK makes single parenthood attractive to many young women. All you need do to get on their benefits is to get a young man to inseminate you and you get your name on the register for some easy fantastic package. Recently they proposed attaching a nurse to all pregnant teenagers to ease the burden of motherhood for them. Then from their, those who don't have identifiable fathers for their children would of course go on to claim their benefits. Is it any wonder that Britain is a leader in this societal anomaly? As a young girl, what more incentive do I need to become a single mother?
anyone who chooses single parenthood just for financial benefits from the government is sorry!

how much is the govt going to give you that you cant work for by yourself? thats a whole new angle to this issue. ive always believed that women who choose single parenthood intentionally have had issues with men all their lives right from childhood into their adult dating years and prefer to go it alone. the govt cant compensate you emotionally for bringing up kids yourself. undecided
