you all know nigerians just love carrying loads of money. most nigerians do it. they would rather carry money in hard raw cash for reasons best known to them. she probably tied it in a cloth and hid it between her thighs and thought it was safe. [s]before the dogs sniffed it out. hehehehe! [/s] |

she could have earned that money legitimately. afterall she was a nurse in texas. nurses in the u.s get paid bastardly. so its probably not laundered money. she was trying to avoid paying taxes or something. i just think that failing to declare it doesnt mean they can take her life savings. if it was a white woman who didnt declare it, they would never confisticate the money. its because she's an imigrant. they are always biased! |

nferyn: Indeed, but that investment is just as much the man's as the woman's to make. If the woman has better career prospects, it's the man that should adapt. tell them nferyn! tell them! |

she wasn't illegal. she's a permanent resident and has been since 1989. its not by force to naturalize and become an american citizen. . they want to now deport her for no reason. but i dont get why she carried the money in cash. she must have been out o her friggin mind. when i travel with a lot less, im nervous as heck. i keep looking around me thinking people are trailing me. |

Originally: US Immigration Seizes $92,843 From Nigerian WomanThis is an article from thisdayonline.com: http://www.thisdayonline.com/nview.php?id=78320A 44-year-old Nigerian woman Iyobosa Odiase was disposessed of her hard earned $92,843 for failing to declare it at an airport.
Odiase, a registered nurse in Ft. Worth, was sentenced to three years probation, but ordered to forfeit the amount in cash that she failed to declare after landing at Detroit Metro Airport last August enroute from Nigeria to Texas. This action of the court triggered reactions from commentators and bloggers who mostly condemned the court's pronouncement.
"Stealing her money for not declaring it when someone can carry any amount. Sounds like the government has a good scam going, as usual." said a blogger goes by the pseudonymn JEK.
Another who did not agree with this replied: "Good Good Good I'm glad to hear it! It's about time those people carrying most likely illegal money from some wrong doing gets her Nigerian titty in a ringer! Plus she's illegal herself. Fool"
Besides losing the money - estate proceeds that she was bringing back to distribute to relatives in the United States the married mother of four never bothered to become a US citizen despite living here as a permanent resident since 1989. As a result, authorities said, she also may face deportation proceedings.
"She's paying a very severe price for a lack of judgment at the airport," her lawyer, Sanford Plotkin of Detroit, said after sentencing Monday before US District Judge George Steeh. I couldn't believe my eyes. I didnt know US immigration can be this heartless. Have they started stealing? Because she didn't declare it doesn't mean they should take her hard earned cash! Please share your thoughts. |

Olu Abuja: I didn't want to make any reply to this post but changed my mind because i was involved in a case where we had to counsel a wife to resign from her work. The husband claimed that their marriage will collapse and infact was ready to divorse his wife because their children are not getting enough attention.
He also claimed that his wife does not give him attention.
3rdly, he claimed that his wife's job is not making her more intelligent enough because she does routine work.
The man violently insisted that she must resign from the job lest he would file for divorce and he was dead serious about it.
Personally, i was shocked to my marrow as regards the above reasons and i think it is more than that. I suspect another woman is turning his head because you guys need to see his wife, very beautiful young woman. She cried throughout the meeting and my wife even joined her to cry.
The man was just too hard. My wife and i really sympatised with the lady but what else could we have done but to give some sort of solution that will appeal to the two
In order to keep their marriage, the lady had to agree to the husband's terms. We had to request that he allow 2months for disengagement from the job.
I doff my hat for the lady and pray that God will turn the situation for her good.
The simple truth is that her family/marriage is superior to her job
Friends, there are many reasons that can make a husband to ask his wife to resign from her job. Some are selfish reasons, another might be for health reasons and some might be or family reasons.
What will you do if you find yourself in that position? May God help you take the right decision in Jesus name. why does it always be the woman who resigns? cant the man resign and watch the kids? will heaven fall if he does? i dont believe a woman should have to let her dreams go just because her husband cant compromise. shame on him! |

the truth is that more married women are cheating. more than ever women have started turning outside the marital circle for happiness for whatever reason. and the truth is that a lot of men have forgiven. when the time comes for you to make that decision and you remember you have kids , you may have to reconsider. you'll amaze even yourself. there have been cases of infidelity in my extended family, and much to my horror the women were the culprits.( one of such alliances resulted in a child .) were they kicked out? no. they were forgiven and everyone of us got over it and moved on. |

some nairalanders can process garri from scratch to finish. from sticking the sticks into the ground, to harvesting, to grinding , to putting it in the jack, to frying it and bagging it. then squatting to put it on their heads and carrying it to the market to be sold. its a gift and should be included in ones resume. |

what s d big deal about retrieving certificate that you think it is not possible in Nigeria? You think say Nigeria na suegbe place abi? ordinary university id card i lost, i had to go to the police station to get a police report, i got a sworn affidavit and all that just to get a replacement from the school. (i had to settle too). that police you are trying to avoid, you will still have to go there. talk less of certificate. do you know how many years some graduates stay before they get their certificate? talk less of replacement. by the time the replacement is ready you'll be grey at the temples with arthritic joints! . |
