When someone feels violated he or she can be pushed to act irrationally.  He was provoked, the anger was manifested in his decision to deliver two blows to her face.

The problem is that those 2 blows that could have taught her a lesson could have turned to something else. What if she had slumped and died or something dramatic had happened like they always do when Ekwensu is involved ?  )
You would find yourself judging another matter and no one will remember that it was all because of taking a shower and washing his armpits.

Exactly!  Was he or was he not pushed?  I heard the lady initiated the contact.  People don't just suddenly become violent without propulsion.  Am I advocating for both forms of violence? No! But they should both be held accountable.

Nobody should be able to push you to do anything. Whatever happened to walking away? Ignoring them? or kicking the fridge or anyother object? When im angry I break plates, throw glass cups and punch holes in the wall. Vent anyway you can and get over yourself.

The only right I see here is something that is being delayed:  Finding a way to put an end to the currently ongoing silence that pervades their relationship.
I am not sold on that speculation that she said "darling, you might want to consider a bath".   Bullshit. This woman is not a deranged being.  She would not have married this man if he was a monster.  This is the same man that vowed never to lay his finger on a woman.  She must have done or said something absolutely disastrous.

She already said herself she was rather insulting. So what? You still have to exercise self control. No matter how much your spouse pushes you , you dont have to resort to violence. After all men have been known to play mumu to their bosses in  the office and even kneel down when told to do so without slapping them.
