CareerRe: Lagos Is Worst Place To Work! by spoilt(f): 4:30pm On Mar 15, 2009
I wonder why people are getting all emotional and upset with the CNN report. They must not work in lagos!

Lagos is a hell hole. All the roads are bad, traffic is horrible and armed robbers are having a field day. Ask those who have to wake up by four am just to get to work on time and stand the risk of being attacked by robbers. Ask those who get stuck in traffic for hours on end. The filth, the lack of security, the everything!!!!
I return to nigeria every year and its always worse than i left it cry. What do you do? Just try and secure your own compound and pray for God to protect you! undecided
At the end of the day, lagos is home and we as nigerians will continue to adapt and adjust to anything.

CareerRe: Are Nigerian 'Graduates' Really Graduates? by spoilt(f): 3:59am On Mar 10, 2009
I think that the nigerian student is able to apply himself or herself. After the bad conditions we have to endure in the name of higher education coming over here seems a breeze. It is true that the quality of our eductaion is bad. Is there anyone contesting that? No text books, just some very shoddily put together handouts.   shocked
No hands on training of any sort. As an accounting student, i never touched or smelt an accounting software. I swear, we used rulers to draw ledgers, I kid you not!  shocked shocked. Many computer students never got to have a computer to themselves. One computer, ten students sorrounding it and fighting for the mouse. Its a huge joke. When we come over here we excel. Why? i chalk it down to resilience, the ability to apply ourselves and to actually burn the midnight oil. Also you cant afford to fail. How can? After all the villagers have sold their chickens and pigs to send you to obodo oyibo you want to fail?  grin

Christianity EtcRe: Night Of Bliss With Pastor Chris Oyakhilome by spoilt(f): 2:07am On Mar 10, 2009
davidylan:
Infact NO ONE has debated God's word here, they have simply questioned the deliberate and ignorant misuse of God's word by your pastor. There is a clear difference between the two.

Elija multiplied the meal of the woman preparing twigs to eat and die with her son . . . i dont know how much faith she had to recieve such a gigantic miracle. Sarah laughed when she was told she would have a son, even Abraham doubted just long enough to go into Hagar and YET they still recieved the promise . . .

your pastor is a liar and the truth is not in him
shocked shocked shocked shocked
grin grin grin grin.
CareerRe: After Your Msc Abroad: Stay Or Go? by spoilt(f): 1:46am On Mar 10, 2009
Living outside your own country is hard. Emotionally, financially and everything-ally. grin

It is like a game that should be played with the utmost strategy and 'sense'. Many jobs here will pay you 'good money' but if youintend to return to naija , it will not make for good experience nor will it pay you good money. Whatever career you choose here make sure it will enhance opportunities for you in nigeria.

Nigeria is full of opportunities no matter what anyone says. Those of us here have to claw our way to the top. The effort i put into my job here is 4 times what i put in in naija all in a bid to be taken seriously. It is hard, i kid you not. You look different, you sound different and on my job that alone makes all the difference.

Usually i recommend to people who finish their masters to return to nigeria. You will find a job. A good one at that. You should be looking at organizations that recognize the worth of a foreign degree. No matter what anyone says a foreign degree adds real worth to you and your resume. (ive schooled both in nigeria and over here and there is no comparism as to quality! undecided)

If you can get some experience here and live comfortably do it. If living here makes you almost destitute, its not worth it. You dont have to suffer and live like a mouse. Just pack your things abeg and return home. I see some nigerians here in anguish and all they think about is that they will be shaming their family by returning. Shaming who? You have received the degree you came for abi?

I Had a plan for myself when i came here. Its nearing fruition. I see myself returning soon. I am looking forward to it.

over zealous security men.
It doesnt amaze me how they brutalize innocent unarmed people but will take off at the slightest sight of robbers.

Seriously, what's the difference between a boy's underwear and ladies panties?

Women wash men underpants with “tyre tracks” (shit stains) in the bottom (men not wiping their asses properly), so I see nothing wrong with a man washing a woman panty with his hands

No. not parents but new generation mothers. If anyone wants to be honest about this topic you will agree. Not All new gen. mothers.
Take a look at their dressing, there way of communication, staying out late, what they wear their child/children at infant. How they warn the teacher or anyone not to beat their child when he/she is wrong. etc. you will not deny this at all. The advise they give to their child/children, the type of story they tell them etc.

Their advise is look at A, B or mr C etc.

Fathers only go out, may stay long outside but children learn fast from their mothers.
Why blame the parent who actually stayed home and tried raising the child the best she could while excusing the parent that went out? huh

You should go to the Hr manager everyday if need be. There seems to be an unexplanable communication gap. huh huh. They havent told you that you have been fired, they havent paid you either. When all else fails then you dont have a choice but to head to the courts or just start looking for another job. Whatever you decide to do, just remember that the nigerian legal system is not perfect.
