When having a discourse you need to look at data available, for example, the median income in Nigeria is between $2 - $20 per day ( according to AFDB), that means that a salary of 50k is in the lower-middle income band. Is it too small? Definitely it is ...but obviously that is the reality. Having this basic knowledge will equip you with the right information to engage more intelligently.

I am not an academic, I have been in management and technology consulting and I still work full full time. my PHD is in an evolving field ( I am working on integrating Quantum Machine learning approach to make Chatbots smarter and enable them respond to threats in real time). You don't do that in 5 years. I know the type of PHD dissertations you are acquainted with

if you are actively working you can do your PhD for 12 years. It is joblessness that makes people sit and do PhD for 3-4 years. When Sanusi wanted to do his PhD in risk management he resigned from UBA in order to pursue it full time (although that didn't work out) cos he moved to Fbn. He could decide to continue with his job as head of risk and take his time to do it. I have been doing my PhD for the past 5years but I have jobs and other important matters to attend to hence I gave myself a 10 year span for my PhD

Yesterday I thought of what to cook on a budget. I was actually craving this white rice and concoction palm oil fish stew with iru but when I remembered that 600 naira pepper and tomatoes will not achieve that for me ( cos the last one I got made me stew that I used only twice), I remembered what a Nairalander told me about other ways of eating and enjoying yam ( cos I don't like yam). I quickly made a u-turn, went to one shop and bought yam of 1200, bought eggs. Thankfully I had vegetable oil. I fried half of the yam and that was what I ate throughout yesterday. I spent less and belle full. even till now, I'm still full from yesterdays yam.

God gave us wisdom, so every one should be able to use it to navigate through this period of famine. I'm thinking of roasting the remaining one and I don dey eye some Pako for backyard wey I go use run am outdoor cooking things and it's going to be fun too.

If all the politicians in Nigeria decide that for the remaining months of 2024 they will only receive 35k as monthly salaries no additional benefits. They will not claim the vehicles that supposed to be giving to them this year. No travelling for the rest of the year. I can assure you that our budget will improve considerably.

The honest truth is that we have been protected from high fuel prices for decades...and now that protection is wearing off because it is becoming darn too expensive.

CBN can't do much, as we have to earn more forex, before we can see the light of day. Government isn't doing much about that.

that is what the government wants you to believe but that is not true. I have been a banker and worked in advisory services to banks. We have the money to support subsidy payments. Our only problem was wastage of public funds. What is the rationale behind removing subsidies and then increasing states FAAC for the governors to embezzle? What is the rationale of removing subsidies and then you are trying to create a shabby welfare system where the money is continually being embezzled ? The government wants you to be gaslighted and you deeply buying into their cheap propaganda.

The reason why we have massive inflation under tinubu is simple....for decades we spent billions of dollars to maintain the illusion the naira was stronger than it was.

Come may 29, 2023, the forex reserve was down to 4 billion dollars and our dollar income was eaten up by debt servicing. A lot of it. SO, the illusion cracked, and here we are with the results...massive inflation.

At least it is still tinubu's fault. If He and buhari had kept quiet in 2012, by now we might have been over the worst.

We really need to do the right things to fix the Nigerian economy. Come up with the right policies, it’s as simple as that…in addition to prayer. We don’t fold our hands and just be praying. Even the Bible says that Faith without works is dead!

If any new policies are not working, then revert them to the old manageable policy that’s not as bad as the new policy until a better policy is figured out. It is not a ‘defeat’ to reverse a non-working new policy to the old one.

Subsidy was removed without a plan to cushion the effect on the poor masses. Naira was allowed to float without thinking about and working on the factors that can ensure its success.

How can the economy work without the right policies in place and implementation of those policies??
