Goodlady: Don't ask me foolish questions! it is not a foolish question. When having a discourse you need to look at data available, for example, the median income in Nigeria is between $2 - $20 per day ( according to AFDB), that means that a salary of 50k is in the lower-middle income band. Is it too small? Definitely it is ...but obviously that is the reality. Having this basic knowledge will equip you with the right information to engage more intelligently. |

1Alex: Which one is work visa? Or you mean Job seeker visa?
For work visa, you need to get a work in portugal first before you can apply for work visa.
Job seeker visa is not cheap also. You need a health insurance that is worth 30,000 euros for you to apply.
I wonder how they think a job seeker will raise 30k euros. If I have that amount, wetin I dey find go Portugal. You don't need 30k euros all you need is to sign up to a health insurance scheme in the country and the health insurance cover Should be 30k euros. As a young person who doesn't smoke you can get good health insurance plan of 25 euros a month and they will guarantee a cover of 30k euros or even more |

dettolgel: How will the economy shrink if the politicians take a pay cut and the savings used to fund sme's?
How will the economic shrink if we refused to import vehicle for politicians for one year? That will save us fx. If they were using locally produced cars then that would create a problem for the industry. How will the economic shrink if they refused to spent our fx on travelling for one year?
Maybe there is something I missed, unless there is a significant impact of this on the local economy that I missed? You stated that if we agree to a pay cut of 35k, you did not state cost savings as a means of further production process in your previous statement. Rather you were advocating for freeze in income to stem hyperinflation. |

They will not claim the vehicles that supposed to be giving to them this year. No travelling for the rest of the year. I can assure you that our budget will improve considerably. then the economy will shrink, there will be massive unemployment, we will go into recession and a demand push inflation will arise |

nairalanda1: Yes, and the subsidy costs have risen because
1.Naira is now devalued..
2.Production costs of fuel have risen a whole lot.
The honest truth is that we have been protected from high fuel prices for decades...and now that protection is wearing off because it is becoming darn too expensive.
CBN can't do much, as we have to earn more forex, before we can see the light of day. Government isn't doing much about that. that is what the government wants you to believe but that is not true. I have been a banker and worked in advisory services to banks. We have the money to support subsidy payments. Our only problem was wastage of public funds. What is the rationale behind removing subsidies and then increasing states FAAC for the governors to embezzle? What is the rationale of removing subsidies and then you are trying to create a shabby welfare system where the money is continually being embezzled ? The government wants you to be gaslighted and you deeply buying into their cheap propaganda. |
Business › Re: See The Amount My Daddy Bought 10bags of Cement 32yrs Ago (see Here) by SSpeter(m): 12:26am On Feb 19, 2024 |
nairalanda1: Yep, you are right, and the people criticising you don't know it.
The reason why we have massive inflation under tinubu is simple....for decades we spent billions of dollars to maintain the illusion the naira was stronger than it was.
Come may 29, 2023, the forex reserve was down to 4 billion dollars and our dollar income was eaten up by debt servicing. A lot of it. SO, the illusion cracked, and here we are with the results...massive inflation.
At least it is still tinubu's fault. If He and buhari had kept quiet in 2012, by now we might have been over the worst. Did you know we have started paying subsidies? Last month 907billion was spent in subsidy. Did you also know that the CBN has started intervening in the Forex markets by selling to the banks. We are now doing exactly the same thing we renounced in May. We did the right thing hurriedly and foolishly and it became a disaster |

I have a feeling the motion will be accepted as proposed especially as this time, the South South oil would not be folded into their Biafra.
Ndigbo traders in what is left of Nigeria would, I suspect, not want to be part of their Biafra. Same for those born and bred in non alaigbo Nigeria.
I can bet not one Ala Yoruba Igbo would swap their Nigerian passport for a Biafran one. Not one. There is oil in Imo, Abia and Anambra. Imo has the largest gas deposit in Nigeria. Thissystem: Naija my country!! E go better
We really need to do the right things to fix the Nigerian economy. Come up with the right policies, it’s as simple as that…in addition to prayer. We don’t fold our hands and just be praying. Even the Bible says that Faith without works is dead!
If any new policies are not working, then revert them to the old manageable policy that’s not as bad as the new policy until a better policy is figured out. It is not a ‘defeat’ to reverse a non-working new policy to the old one.
Subsidy was removed without a plan to cushion the effect on the poor masses. Naira was allowed to float without thinking about and working on the factors that can ensure its success.
How can the economy work without the right policies in place and implementation of those policies?? we paid 907billion in subsidies last month. Dey play |

We all know he played woefully and sold us out, so was he expecting to be hailed for playing a bad game? He should get out It is a game, for one team to win the other must commit and error or play below par. However, when a team performs poorly, the manager should take responsibility not Iwobi. The fact that Iwobi played for 72mins means that for that duration he was the best Nigeria could offer. If there were someone better, the coach should have subbed him. A coach cannot keep a better player on the bench and field in an unfit player. The moment we understand this subtle nuances, the more mature we will become |
