Cmanforall: I disagree with you. Sorry. I give people lift, especially when you know the public transport links are somehow poor. For instance, traveling from my village to our capital city... If you've got enough space, give them lift (the rural dwellers). There's nothing like terrorism nor kidnapping. They'll wish you well. Other important group to help are the Corp members ('Corpers '). With the meagre sum paid to them by state governments (4k or so), they use lifts to cut down their expenses on transportation. And surely they'll appreciate it. Thanks.
I will beg you to stop now. As in abeg! You cannot account for what the person is carrying or who the person is. I have heard too many horror stories.

Tolexander: This remind me of the proverbial two foolish goats trying to cross a narrow bridge over a river, at opposing end. Each wanting to first cross.
They both fell into the river. I believe that is how it ended.
Penalty82: What Onan did was an outright breakage of law and that was why God killed him. He was selfish, he didn't want the genealogy of his brother to continue hence God's anger on him.
Deuteronomy 25:5 If brethren dwell together, and one of them die, and have no child, the wife of the dead shall not marry without unto a stranger:her husband's brother shall go in unto her, and take her to him to wife, and perform the duty of an husband's brother unto her.
6 And it shall be, that the firstborn which she beareth shall succeed in the name of his brother which is dead, that his name be not put out of Israel.
Thank you for putting the useless OP in place. That's how people misquote the bible for their selfish reasons.
dragon2: From what I know, atrazine is effective against weed seeds and seedlings.I.e it kills small weed seedlings and prevents their seeds from sprouting. If you want to spray an overgrowing field mix the attrazine with glyphosate.Try to keep the mixture agitated,or better yet spray glphosate first then after the weed go down spray atrazine to prevent germination of weed seeds.
Why do you give such advise without specifying if this spraying should be done before or after planting? Glyphosate is non-selective and will cut down both crop and weeds!
Olaide1295: Thanks for the video Stagger...Its insightful You know an idea came to my mind, which is to use the maize planter machine for fertilizer application too. Do u think its possible? Also, there is a tillage machine called habgito tillers that is advertised on Nairaland here. I intend buying it from Alibaba if that will be much cheaper. It will be used for weed control, tillage etc. Just like u, I am a tech person who is also in Agriculture.
I thought about the bolded, but I asked the manufacturers and they told me it cannot do it. But what stops me from developing something to replace the seed selector and adapt it for fertilizer use? The Habtigo machine is of two types; 9hp and I think 13hp. Costs 300k and 420k respectively or thereabout. The machine is not cheap.
Biafran asked his fellow Biafran in the land of the zoo for help. Biafran helped Biafran man and wife. Biafran man and wife ended up clearing Biafran man's account.
Olaide1295: Hi phemmy, What fertilizer do u add in the fertilizer applicator that will not affect the plant at such early stage especially in maize. I want to buy 3 PCs of this machine, will u give a discount?
My brother, I believe that we can always improvise. You may decide not to put the fertilizer at planting, but may instead, put only fertilizer when you are delivering.
I have come to realize that there are many misconceptions about fertilizer application. This video should help:
OP, why are you selling fertilizer which has been condemned the the Minister of Agric as unsuitable for our soils? Nigerian soils are supposed to use NPK 20:10:10, which is the blend sold by the Presidential Initiative on Fertilizer.

Paraquat and Atrazine are both herbicides. However I must say that they do not last the whole season, because I am on the verge of having to use a selective herbicide to spray again.
As per tractor work, there is:
- ploughing: initial tilling by tractor - harrowing: splinters the ploughed soil further - ridging: separates the soil into ridges for planting.
Madam did you just fall from the moon? There are several threads here about those sites, each one more than 100 pages long. Why live beside River Niger and wash your hands with spittle?
bingocalous: Is your seed planter the usual one attached to a tractor or yours is different? Pls elaborate even with picture if you wouldn't mind...thanks a lot. Have about 20hecters of maize farm and actually spent above 160k for planting it.... Seed planter would have bin oreverable cause I still pay for replanting even after germination....
It's hand held, just like the one Phemmy is advertising. His own is actually more advanced as it can deliver fertilizer during the same planting operation.
Several persons have applied for my Content Agency openings, and when they are given the test, they abscond. I am sick and tired of such unprofessional attitudes.
Right now, I have two old writers and of mine and I only need to add two more. Anyone who knows he or she cannot abide by the rules I set out in the initial post here on Nairaland should not waste their time and mine applying.
Also, that email I gave is for applications for the job, not for people asking me for help and telling me their life stories of woe.
To those asking me for help and telling me how they are dying of hunger, I tell you this plain truth. Everyone has challenges; even me. I was not born rich. I still dey hustle, because you will find that the moment you move from earning 10k a month to 500k a month, all your relatives and friends will connect a suction pipe to your pocket and you will soon find yourself needing to make more money to stay afloat. So there is nothing you will say that I have not seen earlier in life or witnessed. If you need money, apply for the job I listed (and others also posted by other persons) and WORK! Elon Musk lived on $1 a day, eating pizza 24/7 when he first went to America as a South African immigrant and hustled his way out of poverty to where he is now.
The man was kneeling and begging her to forgive him.
That's the evidence.
She's a smart girl!
Though I condemn what the taxify driver did, but she shouldn't have involved the police or she should have told taxify management, not to arrest him/charge him to court. Habba.....see him helping her to carry her load and even kneeling and begging her. They blocked him and deactivated him from the platform...... Which means, end of the road for him on taxify....and maybe uber self. Now they still went ahead to arrest him and they will still charge him!
That's too much!
So is it when he invades her home and rapes her, then rapes other women serially and perhaps starts murdering them that your brain will reset itself to know that this arrest was a timely intervention? Are you reading the news of what is going on? How many of the male drivers with these companies are now preying on females?
I have asked all my female relatives and staff NEVER to patronize Uber and Taxify. Better to be safe than sorry. Use the painted cabs. They have unions and their members are known: some of these painted taxi guys have been in the business for 10 to 20 years, so they are well known to their unions.
What was that noise he was making? Men, that vigilante to bad ni! Hai! See how he was swinging the bloody rapist like pendulum! Ai ai ai ai! La la'ila la!
There is no road from Eleme junction to the Indorama facility. Please someone who lives along that axis should post a recent photo of the state of the East West road and see the legacy Jonathan left his people.
Shame!
The only reasons the VP had to be airlifted to the area is because he could never have got to that place by road.
dayoemmy: Farmers please help a brother. how much would it cost me to cultivate cassave on a hectare of land till its time to harvest, pineapple on 1 and a half acre of land and plantain on an acre of land from planting till harvesting. roughly how much would be enough for the three in Oyo state
These questions have been answered all over the Agriculture section. Please spend 30 minutes and search through by typing the relevant keywords into the search space box at the top of the page. Then read the relevant threads.
So I am kind of new to this section but I have been following it for a while on the low low.
Here is my story. So at the close of last year, I decided to take on a new project in Agriculture this year. This project is very large and I have spent the better part of this year focusing on this project.
The Project: Setting up a Large Scale integrated farm. Primary Livestock being Poultry for eggs and meat and the primary crop yet to be decided on (ideas for this would be welcome). The end game for me is processing. I intend to be going into the frozen food market for processed meat like frozen chicken, meat, sausages and the works.
Progress so far. I have been in training since the start of the year. Main objective of my training is in farm management. Basically how to manage a large scale integrated farm.
I have also acquired two pieces of land measuring 100,000sqm and 75,000sqm respectively. Both properties are within looking distance of each other so the management isn't going to be too much of a problem.
Biggest Challenge:: Security! Security!! Security!!! I have thought long and hard about how to overcome this challenge and I keep coming up blank.. Fencing both properties will cost in excess of 30 Million Naira.. That isn't something I am willing to do even if I could afford it. The Land is located about 3 - 5km from the nearest populated part of the host town. The 75ksqm land isn't situated directly on the main access road and can't be seen from the road as such cos there is a large property in front of it and surrounded on all sides by bush. The area isn't even remotely developed. Mostly other smaller farms around me. The 100ksqm property is on the main road and would be the operations base of the farm (accommodation, equipement, storage, offices and the works).. Also surrounded by bush
So I figure I bring it here to pick the brains of other Nairaland farmers who operate large farms like these and how they have gone about it.
Here are some thoughts I am currently playing with:
1. Digging a 6 feet × 6 feet trench right around the farm.
2. Attempting to do a pillar and barbed wire fence. But all I feel somebody will just cut them and take them away in addition to looting my crops.
3. Community engagement.. I will be getting my base workers from the community anyhow, but then they wouldn't be on the farm at night and the inhabited part of the village is a distance from my location.
Farm Location: Anambra State
... Opinions are highly welcomed especially from people who operate similar scale farming project or have worked on one.
Thanks.
Plant moringa trees round the perimeter of the lands, and dig a moat on the inside. This will surely prevent any invasion by cows and possibly humans. You also need to invest in a K-9 unit (bloodhounds preferably) as well some miniature drones with cameras that will feed a central station. Of course, guards are also a must, not just to handle the K-9 unit but also to be mobilized to the site of any intrusion at a moment's notice.
ajsans: What if the someone agrees to pay for the information or eBook you're giving out.
Where did I mention I am selling any ebook on freelancing? Go to Victor101's original thread, first three pages. I categorically stated that I will NEVER sell any ebook on Nairaland on this topic. Read the same pages and see the insults I received from several persons.
