Kobicove: It is one thing for the government to enact a law, it is a another thing for that government to follow through and actually ensure compliance with that law! Too many Nigerians are fickle minded. I was in a foreign country with my wife when an airline cancelled our flight with no advance notice, no refund, nothing. We had to pay for another flight home. By the time I took up that airline with the regulatory authorities, they were practically begging me with free return ticket for me and my wife which we duly cashed in on the next time we travelled there. If you know your rights and take the time to enforce them, you will come out winners all the time. Go and read this thread and see how a Nigerian like you and I caused Indonesian airport officials to get into serious trouble with their government: https://www.nairaland.com/5353685/ordeal-soekarno-hatta-international-airport-jakartaWe be Naija. Business › Re: After NYSC What With #500,000 In My Account? by stagger: 2:05am On Jul 26, 2020 |
Cof1ex: Am really going to be straight here. I was able to save #200,000 through a side hustle (riding okada) early last year (jan-may) while awaiting service and up to another 100k i used for service. I abandoned the money in a fixed deposit account and moved on for nysc... During my nysc, i found my way to the secretariat which gave me chance to do small hustle. I got a factory work which was paying me 25-35k (with loads of stress and i was settling them at the secretariate with 7k). With that, i was able to save all my allowee(#310,250) except the first that was paid in camp cash. I traveled home during the early corona virus lock down as corpers were advised to go home or any safe place and my factory work was back sliding as materials were costly in the market. >>> currently am done with nysc and left my work before the lock down, critically thinking of what next to do with my life. Contemplating on staying back at ogun (sango otta) where i served or going back to abia (my state) and start up fishery or piggery, or poultry, or computer center, or dry cleaning. Just lost in thought. I know how hard i worked to gather this money, i starved myself and deprived myself enjoyment, and the shame of a graduate riding okada (as my dad was financially ok before he died 2k17). I just don't want to carry two legs put for river talk say na testing.. Please help!!!! Lala abeg push to fp My brother, what is the shame in doing legitimate work like riding bike? Between you and hushpuppi, who has more prestige and whose head is carrying international shame and disgrace? It is your money and you worked for it. That's all that counts. Even in my farm last year, I joined the villagers contracted for the harvest to bring in the corn. They only knew I was the owner of the farm when I put my hands in my pocket and brought out the cash to pay them. No shame in legitimate work. |
Romance › Re: My Fiancee Insists We Spend N500k Or Less On Our Wedding But I Want To Spend N1M by stagger: 1:42pm On Jul 25, 2020 |
Ninobraw: I am a guy of 29 years old and she's 24 years old. She is a nurse and she is working and earning good salary. We have been dating for the past 3 years, ever since she came into my life things have been moving forward. Between the space of three years I was able to buy a land and build two flat (almost completed) and also buy a nice car. All this was possible because she was in my life. She assisted me with the money she accumulated before she met me, (2 million naira) gave it to me to add it to the money I was using to build the house, she has really been the best thing that has happened to me. We both have never cheated on each other, I'm very happy having her in my life. During the period of covid 19 my business was shut down totally she was the one that sustained me Althrough and never complained.
She later resigned from her nursing work and started her own chemist shop, I supported her with 300k she rejected it and asked me to add it to the money for house project. She is making some good money from her store any way.
Now we plan to do our marriage by December and I budgeted more than 1 million naira. the problem is that she insisted that it is too much that I should not spend more than 500k that's been a problem to us but later settle it. because she won't just listen to me she wants me to spend less than that the reason why I wanted to spend more than 1 million Naira was because she deserves it.
So because of that we adjusted the marriage to three months time since it's just 500k I am spending now my question is can I spend 500k for a moderate marriage? And I wanted to do something tangible for her because she deserve more than everything I have, please what other things can I do for her that will be equivalent to everything she has done for me.
Since we have been dating she has never asked me for big money and also when ever I give her she always tells me that she gat money that no need to give her, in fact she love me so much that she don't even accept money from me unless gift. Now I want to do something tangible for her because since I have been dating her she doesn't allow me spent on her that much, and she doesn't complain. Wedding is for a day. Marriage is for a lifetime. Ask yourself: what do the world remember Teebills and Tiwa Savage for? Does anyone still talk about their Dubai wedding? Those you think you want to impress will move on to the next thing after 2 days. You do not know that you have a jewel in your hands in this woman. Better receive sense. |

Unnerve: Visual inspection of a passenger plane. Bollocks, Lol.
If Mahan Air was really transporting weapons for Iranian-linked fighters, I wonder how the F-15 pilot was going to see these weapons from the window of a passenger plane at 34,000ft. Is the plane a flying showglass? A passenger aircraft is supposed to be able to carry which kind of military weapons if not small arms? That was not the concern. The concern was if the aircraft was a bomber which could have posed a direct threat from the air, hence the air patrol and visual inspection. |

CHANNELSTV202: Good afternoon My honourable intellectuals on Nairaland.Folks please I need your assistance,I am an Oil and Gas Engineer by Profession,I am based in Port Harcourt,I have been hurting for a job for sometime now but No way yet,a particular one I was hopeful about, after the interview a worker there ask me to pay 450k (and beckoned on me not to discuss this with anyone)the fact is I don't even have quarter of the money, even if they remove 449 thousand naira from the money I can't still pay.ever since it's been a rough ride for me,I started looking for a job outside the oil sector but no luck yet,I thought of good business ideas to start up with little capital but the capital is not there, ever since I have embarked on hard labour, carrying cements at different construction sites for some months now,but my body is already reacting to it,I was advised by the chemist to halt it immediately,I hearkened to his advice and stopped immediately but eating has been problem ever since, a week now I have been on biscuit and water diet,I am now limited to 2 pair of trousers and 3 polo shirts because most of my clothes are worn out because I use them on construction sites carrying blocks and cements.the frustrating part of it all that has taken my peace of mind TOTALLY is in the public yard where I live my rent has expired 2 months ago, today the landlord came asking my neighbors after me, knocking on my door I was inside but I went on a pause mood immediately for like 30 minutes,as I type my heart is broken, tears gushing down.i can't even step outside for the fear of my neighbors seeing me.i took the last 150 in my jeans opened the door quietly and told a boy in my compound to please get me mtn 100# to at least sub, come online let the good people of Nairaland know and come to my Resue.bad thoughts harmful to myself are already running on my mind.Abeg make una help me anyhow Job/assistance before una see my matter for front page when e don red ABEG. Please go to the freelance platforms and register and account and search for engineering projects there. Do you even have a LinkedIn profile? Some of you waste a lot of productive time on Nairaland and social media. Use your data and rescue yourself using the internet. There are even parents looking for people to teach their children Physics and Maths. Can't you print flyers and share out? I CAN TEACH MATHS AND PHYSICS. CALL ME ON 080....... Share the whole flyers in your neighbourhood and around. You can opt to clear people's domestic garbage. You can opt to do people's laundry. You make an arrangement with an established laundry and you source business for them. Take 30% and give them 70%. You can mow lawns. Rain is falling everywhere and people have overgrown weeds in their house lawns and farms. I recently had to pay N30,000 to have my farm weeded. No be money be dat? Plenty of stuff you can do to liberate yourself. Some people will sympathize with you and offer you no way out. I will not offer you sympathy, but I drop practical ideas that can put coins in your pocket. |

Family › Re: How Guys Use Marriage To Plunge Themselves Into Perpetual Poverty. by stagger: 12:34pm On Jul 21, 2020 |
OP, If this is an attempt to ridicule the bible, then this has utterly failed. Many of you do not even understand what the bible says on many issues and it shows with all the shallow statements we see here.
Not every woman is wife material. Therefore you cannot expect to obtain favour from God when you marry a woman who is money conscious and contributes nothing to the house.
Secondly, any man who cannot sit down to analyze the conditions of the country and make adjustments to his life will put himself and his family into a lot of suffering. We live in a country where the best jobs are reserved for the children of the who is who. Look at all the politician today. Look at the NDDC guys including Cairo Ojuogbo. Cairo has been in politics since the late 80s. He is well connected. How else could he have got the job of NDDC Director of Projects? Where are his children?
Now ask yourself: what chances of securing a good job does the man you picked up have against the children of Isa Funtua, Godswill Akpabio, Cairo Ojuogbo, Timi Alaibe, all the generals who served in government under IBB and Abacha, etc, etc, etc? ZERO!
So why is the individual still looking for a job? What kind of job? A N50,000 job? Where will N50,000 go in Abuja?
In Nigeria of today, any average man with no connections who is still thinking of getting a good job is a dreamer. Such a person is better served starting a business, or learning a skill with global acceptance that can be used in the freelance community, where merit is still the order of the day. You cannot be looking for a job in a country where meritocracy has been sacrificed on the order of mediocrity, nepotism, tribalism and outright social injustice.
Las las, a woman can decide to bang her way to a job and up the ladder if the worst comes to the worst. Do men have such options except you are a gay who is lucky to meet another gay he can service?
These are the issues any man who is in university should start settling before attempting to jump into a marriage. The bible is very clear: he who does not work shall not eat. If you drag a woman into such a situation, then you will have to endure whatever you get out of it. |

I am not one given to praising politicians. I loathe most of them. But I must say one thing.
As someone who first went to Abakaliki in 1995 when the place was looking like a village, and compared it with my last visit in November last year with several trips made over the years, I cannot but commend Gov Umahi. Knowing how much of a kleptomaniac his former boss was, spending 8 years without doing anything for the state, I am perplexed that Gov Umahi could in 4 years with lower allocation, perform the kind of magical transformation of the state that I have witnessed over the past 25 years.
It is a wonder. Last time I went there, I was getting lost up and down as I could not recognize most of the roads any more. |
