okeyxyz: The spirit teaches me all things. okeyxyz: We interpret spirit as an outside invisible entity with a will of it's own, but actually spirit means understanding, character or behaviour, simple. This whole misconception also carries over from the old days when they couldn't see God but could see his operations in action, thus the spirit(action) of god.According to you, spirit is understanding, character, or behaviour. Now you claim the spirit teaches you all things. What you are saying is that " understanding, character or behaviour, teaches you all things". Ok sir I gerrit, we are not in the same world. |
okeyxyz: Gbam!!!!John 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. Acts 8:36 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? now oga okexyz has changed this understanding claiming its old school. I de bow for you o. |
adsonstone: When I say 'the Church' can teach falsely, You should understand that I mean 'earthly gatherings.' Jesus has what he has laid down for us to follow (cos He's the head), now the body (the true Church) is the one that follow His teaching exactly as He has laid them down which definitely won't teach false things...furthermore, any denomination that teaches what's not in line with Christs' lessons is not his body therefore, not a Church.Ha oga meeee! So we also need the Holy spirit to understand your conflicting statements abi? Ok, now, 1.by "the church" you mean earthly gathering, and this can teach falsely. Not like 2. "the true church" that cannot teach falsely. Again, 3. any denomination teaching falsely is not the church all these na you talk am, abeg which one we go take as true. |
@ Italo, except for extremely important cases, the confidentiality this forum gives isn't always advisable to destroy. You both can create a mail communication or create new Fb accounts for the purpose and chat there. I really do not see a need for the F2F debate if truth is what is sought, moreso debating from your comfort zones will avail you both of easy access to material aids. One may not access such sometimes easily anywhere, and the aim is exposition of truth, not who wins bro. |
adsonstone: Yes, it is.A book an apostle quoted from, you tell me it is not needed? who said it is not needed and by which authority? |
chidachris: Its quite unbelievable that you say the apostles didn't know the bible. Even though it wasn't called bible in those days but "scriptures" which were contained in scrolls, on many occasions both jesus and the apostles in their teachings quoted the books of moses, isiah, daniel, samuel, psalms and all other prophets. So how did they know all this if they didn't have the scriptures? If scripture was daniel, psalm etc (old testament books) when and why was peter, corinthians, romans ,etc, added and by who, under what authority? |
adsonstone: Answer: Yes it can. (If it has refused to go in line with the teaching of Christ).Haba oga, you said the church and Jesus is same, now you say the church (Jesus) can teach falsely, "if it has refused to go in line with the teaching of christ". So according to you, simply put, Jesus can teach falsely if he refuses to go in line with the teaching of Jesus. Nothing we no go hear for this place! |
adsonstone: Hello, that portion quoted by Jude is what you need for your Christian walk. Going to research for the whole Book of Enoch will be awful. However, I'm quite sure you'll get more wrong things than right ones in your research (if you do).Hahaha ok, so the book of enoch is the word of God or not? if jude quoted from it, why is it not in your bible? |
adsonstone: Beginning to doubt the genuineness of the Bible is a turn off and a total waste of time for any Christian (I don't know what else will be his guide for the Christian life if what he follows is not genuine)Jude quoted the book of enoch in his epistle, pls what portion of your bible is the book of enoch he quoted? |
Sal C: Council of Ephesus in 431AD.So quick this time, congrats! Again isn't it wonderful to note that the same set of people God used in deciding the books to be cannonized (bible) in 393AD and following, were used to make this declaration? Today, a people without history will say "the bible is the word of God" but will not agree with same people who declared it so, when they also declare Mary as mother of God. Amazing! |
@ Italo, pls do not forget to continue asking the question o, "what is the pillar and foundation of truth"? |
italo: So it was "confession" that Jesus gave the keys of the kingdom to too abi?Yeah, guess what? He also told the "confession" to feed his sheep. This people no go kill me o. |
Sal C: Hmmm I gerrit!Congrats on getting the answer. A people without history say our lady was not honoured by the apostles, isn't it wonderful to see a visible evidence of her powerful aid? Good morning all, in continuation with the mood of oct. devotion, here is the next question: When and where did the church officially declare Mary, the mother of God? |
woky: when u ar ready to answer my questions, then we can talkplease call him brother na, he knows clearly that his "church" was founded to aid an adulterous king, yet he remains there, convincing himself that "all join", he has never heard of building on non-solid foundation. His only problem is for you to call him brother, abeg consider am na. |
italo: My dear brother, I dont even want to go into whether you are Catholic or not; but your post is filled with horrific misinformation and ignorance about Church history.I simply left you to respond to that, he said he is a catholic, but he must have been learning the history of his church from "awake" magazine of JW. |
Please anyone that knows some couple whose wedding is on hold due to just their inability to pay "church wedding fee" only, should let me know. Till then, hold your peace. |
okeyxyz: Accepting the doctrine of christianity makes you a born again, rather than the actual practice of christian doctrine. After accepting this doctrine, it becomes part of your conscience and the means by which your judge right and wrong. Now choosing to do wrong does not take away your born-againismspeak and do = water and spirit? see levels na! |
chukwudi44: bros dont even waste your time debating with trolls on this site. Before you do wit with anyone just check his/her post history. Some people are just meant to be ignoredHahahaha, bros I just de laugh, some cry baby trolling the thread , yet no attention, I just de laugh since. |
jammyunn: ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works.Oga jammyunn, sorry o, no vex, is what you quoted above meant to cancel out the below? italo: |
double post. |
woky: a word is enof for a wise..na so |
woky: a word is enof for a wise..abi... |
italo: I have already told her about the options of talking to the parish priest and mass wedding if the fee is beyond her means. Also, she says she is in the choir. How will a choir member not know that she cannot be denied the Sacrament just because she cannot raise a certain fee.I hope for hersake, that she is a winner and not a loser that easily give up. |
Haba @ OP, this is the church that organises mass wedding free of charge from anything for her members. This is a church that has Legion of mary that will do anything to ensure you are truly wedded. This is a church that has St.Vincent de paul society that helps non catholics materially, not to talk of one of theirs and for such a purpose. Dear one, no naa, no catholic church can deny a determined candidate the sacrament of matrimony just for their inability to pay such fees. In the villages, such fees accrue from groups like cyon, mary league etc that one should have identified with earlier, but all in all, if any one cannot trully foot the whatever fee (which is not that expensive everywhere), please approach the priest or any of the societies I mentioned, you'll be surprised. |
italo: To be born again (born of water and spirit) is to be baptized.Simple. |
Sal C: So you dey fear like this?I de fear o abeg, the road is rough and narrow no mean say you must waka for chuku chuku on bare feet join am. Levels pass levels, some levels too much jare. That our big Sis level na die. |
Mr. Aladin:Hahaha, bro, abeg no work o, you' re wrong. |
Sal C: The very first recorded apparition of our blessed mother took place in spain, when she appeared to St James the greater. The date was placed on the 2nd January 40AD. Because she was still alive then, some people prefer to refer to it as Bilocation.Correct! A church still exists at the site " Our lady of pillars". The story was attested to as true by the renowned mystic, Mary of agreda. Her book, city of God, is a must read for every catholic. |
It baffles me a lot at how comfortable professed christians are when they claim that all these different doctrine proclaiming religious institutions are the "church" of christ. How can the holy spirit be the author of all these, when the prayer had been " that they may be one". Anyway @ OP, to contribute to your question, some were formed because the founder wanted to indulge in immoralities not condoned in the church of christ, so the new group had to tinker with existing doctrines to soothe the founder and make the new group different. Now they also claim to be part of the "church" too. Some were formed because the founder lacked obedience and learning and thereby "wrenched the scripture unto their own destruction" they also claim part of the church. |
I greet you all. Glory to Jesus, honour to Mary! In honour of the ongoing oct. devotions, Just a little one, "When was the earliest recorded appariton of our Lady, to whom and where?" |
@ Mr. Alladin, Those words by St. Terea of avila "Lord, I am a daughter of the church", hmm...those words...they fill me with pride, confidence and determination to persevere till the end, for therein, indeed therein, lies the key to the kingdom. Though she is not one of my most favourite big sisters sha...I de fear am 'cos her way take style harsh.... ![]() |
Sal C: In return you were among those whose contribution I love to read and one of the people who inspired me alongside Chukwudi44 and Lady (really missed her since I finally registered). Uben, I've always looked upon as a father. Got to know Syncan when I registered.Amen, Amen, and those too who appear, like heavenly soldiers against the hordes of hell, when our faith becomes front page things...where the battle is most severe. Yes I am a learner. |

, because your conscience still keeps you in awareness of your wrong deeds as judged by this new doctrine.
