@OP. Though a lot has been said on the topic, it matters not how vigorous people work to thwart and confuse historical facts. It remains true what you've posted " The Catholic church compiled the bible"!

I actually agree with the Pope. He said the most important teaching of the church is " Jesus has saved you". This is what the church was commisioned to do, this is what the church ( in following the dictates of the media) is almost forgetting to do. What converts is grace and not discipline. Discipline can only aid in the guarding of inherent grace, hence we should focus on gaining the grace more, while not forgetting discipline. One has to read the full text to understand his teaching. I have come to realise that selected portions are often taken out of his speech as stand alone, hence distorting his message and insinuating new meanings. He is bold, his views may not be entirely refined as yet, but he is waking up theologians from their slumber surely, for they are becoming more like the pharisees and mosaic laws. Zeal for his flock is driving the shepherd to take controlled risks. Its a call for catholics to read the CCC and witness the beauty that lies there in.

The cathecism of the catholic church is now brought to full practicality. Words are now tested in full, that the wisdom and beauty of the cathecism may be well appreciated...I dare say, for the first time in many cases, by the faithfuls. I do not see anything "sensationaly liberal" about this pope, he is just an experienced and knowledgeable shepherd whose love for his flock propels him to take risks, yet guided by his knowledge of his boundaries. The sister in the hospital story of his, best describes him to me.

My friend acknowledged to have seen the beginning of the passage(just like you) which reads " The fool says in his heart", yet my friend insists(just like you) that it was still written that "there is no God", hence, God does not exist. When I showed my friend the passage "The fool says in his heart, there is no God", he still insisted that the bible said that there is no God(just like you). He said " do you know what there is no God means? it means not in existence" (same argument as you). Yet the simple thing you both need, was to read from the beginning, then tell yourselves the truth...lest I forget, he now says the bible is a big joke because at a point "circumcision is needed, at another, it is not needed( same thing you are doing). You have a lot in common with my friend. And my friend tells lies too.

Someone once told me that the bible said "there is no God", and he quoted Psalm 14:1. I went to the passage and it read "The fool says in his heart, there is no God". That's what you have done with the quote in my post. Read from the beginning! You can do better.

Amara,my view on two of your questions.

1. That passage you quoted in Jer4:30 was talking about defeating Israel at war. In that passage it is a personification of Jerusalem. However, Spoils of a war are those "nouns", owned by and including, the defeated but which becomes the properties of the victors if they wish. Thus I may say that one who is spoiled in that regard is one who has been captured by the victor, such a one has lost all privileges, despite how beautiful or ornamented such a one is, he /she will be mostly used as a servant, slave, eunuch or sold.

2. Paul did not write 1peter 3vs3. However that passage is re echoing Col 3:2 "let your mind be set on things above...and not on things below"

For this is gud in d sight of God who want all men to be saved.. Paul did nt mention here that we should pray through apostles or any1, He further emphasised that Christ is the only mediator.. All we can do for unbelievers is to pray to God to ve mercy on dem and bring dem to repentance... This is quite different from the Catholic MEMORARE which reads: Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that any1 who fled to thy protection, implored thy help or sought thy intercession was left unaided. Dear doclan, that prayer MEMORARE that you posted,though said by the faithful for ages, was discovered recently in Papyrus leaf which has been dated to about 200AD. Note that the existing papyrus leaf of some of the Bible books are dated 150AD and so on. It should be of concern to you therefore, if those who arranged the books you now call the Bible and declared them as inspired word, were saying this prayer as well. The question is now when did it stop for you, and why? See
