obadiah777: THAT NIGERIAN GOALKEEPER IS AT LEAST 50 YEARS OLD. I KNOW HER. SHE IS FROM MY VILLAGE. HER KIDS ARE IN OBAFEMI AWOLOWO UNIVERSITYHehehehe.... |
Demdem: And its a vital contribution for that matter. only Eediots will expect me to regard Blair for his paid opinion in contrast to branson who physically brought his money down. Besides these two still can't claim to have better understanding than nigerians themselves. Let the man that gives no damn live up to his responsibilities. And have you heard the latest thing Branson said about investing in Nigeria....keep deceiving yrself and choosing what you want to belief. http://www.punchng.com/business/transport/branson-willing-to-invest-again-in-nigeria/ |
blackmale: @ 52 ,,,,, agbaya!Hehehehe....see yabbing. even if pason no like 9ja, pason go like Nigerians. We too mush |
There are strong indications that British business tycoon, Sir Richard Branson, is still willing to invest in the Nigerian aviation sector, notwithstanding the sour experience the airline mogul had with the Federal Government over the former Virgin Nigeria airline. One of the top officials of Virgin Atlantic Airways told our correspondent on the sidelines of a media conference recently that Branson would still be willing to invest in the country’s aviation sector. Branson, founder of the famous Virgin Group, had partnered with the Federal Government to establish Virgin Nigeria following the liquidation of the former national carrier, Nigeria Airways, by the Olusegun Obasanjo administration. The relationship between the Federal Government and Branson however, went sour after Nigeria’s aviation authorities forcefully stopped Virgin Nigeria’s domestic operations at the international wing of the Lagos airport. The development, Branson said, contradicted major provisions of the Memorandum of Understanding he signed with the Nigerian government before the establishment of Virgin Nigeria. Branson subsequently pulled out his interests in the former Virgin Nigeria. The airline was later acquired by the Chairman of Global Fleet, Mr. Jimoh Ibrahim and renamed Air Nigeria in 2010. Air Nigeria recently suspended its entire operations due to what Ibrahim called “staff disloyalty and unfavourable business environment.” However, Virgin Atlantic Airways’ top official revealed that Branson was still willing to invest in Nigeria’s aviation sector again. “I can assure you that Branson is still interested in investing in Nigeria’s aviation sector notwithstanding the bad experience we had with the Nigerian authorities. Nobody was talking to us then, even after Virgin Nigeria’s domestic operations were stopped at the international wing. Nobody was saying anything. Even after the MOU had been breached, nobody was saying anything .” the top official of Virgin explained. http://www.punchng.com/business/transport/branson-willing-to-invest-again-in-nigeria/ |
you people should stfu and give sahara reporters a break, am tired of seeing this sahara reporters and lies by the same people on every thread. This is the reason Nigeria will never move forward. Your poverty ravaged mentalities will not let you critically analyse news without sentiments. Come to think of it, can you mention ANY news in present day Nigeria that sahara reporters did not break all the way from new york? when they broke the story of dame patience, you sycophants rushed like the pests you are to call it a lie. One month after nobody has sighted her. you are just mad because you come to grip with how fast they source their news while your local journalists dish out, junk and copy and paste journalism. we are talking about possibly the most corrupt woman in the history of Nigeria here, booking same hotel with GEJ, obviously f/u cking him while dame is away.
Yea. SR actually got it 'right' with Dame. For the avoidance of any doubt, this was what they got 'right'(in this order): 1. Dame was sick and have been flown abroad in an air ambulance. 2. She was suffering from Food poisoning which she probably got from Aso Rock 3. She actually got the poison from Dubai 4. then her illness became appendicitis 5. then it became Tummy Tuck 6. Then it became full body work surgery 7. Then it was fibroid 8. Suddenly she DIED( and they were so sure that they told us GEJ on receiving the news of the death of his wife became devastated and abruptly left Namibia and flew to Germany apparently to collect his wife's corpse- while they were writing this story the President had already landed in Abuja) 9. Then just as suddenly as she died, she 'Rose from the Dead' and was even strong enough to consider attending the UN General Assembly with her husband in other to waste 'our' money of course 10. But she relapsed again and her doctors advised that she could not o any where yet(for the avoidance of doubt- this was in her current SECOND life ie after her miraculous 'resurrection') 11. Then the new one some days back was that she actually had Parkinson Disease all along 12. The latest item in this Saga(in case you haven't heard ) is that she is now stable and will back to Nigeria 'as soon as possible'. And all along, they got ALL these info from 'impeccable' sources(who are nameless of course). ...Back to Reality: SR is not an investigative newspaper, it is a hotbed for Speculation. They are a disgrace to every thing the Fourth Estate of the Realm is( or should be). The fact that they get some info right at times means little cos as every good Amebo would tell you- one would definitely get at least a few things correct if one increases the rate of tatafo-ing(guesses), which should not be surprising since it is actually a Law of Nature( the Law of Probability). The whole article theme was 'Diezieni maintained two rooms in the UN Outing', seem to me to be an attempt to push this narrative : whilst she(Dieziani) had her 'official' room in an hotel booked for her by NNPC staff, she also her another 'unofficial' room in the same hotel as the President which was convenient for both of them since Madam( Dame) was too sick in far away Germany to get in the way(if you no want i mean). Okay, yea yea yea..am speculating. I agree. But me too I have my own impeccable source- SR themselves(see! my own source is not anonymous). They had told us some few weeks ago that madam Dame, according to a certain 'impeccable' source was complaining that Diezini was the cause of her ill health since she wanted to take her husband(ie GEj) from her(this was before she DIED her and then 'resurrected'), and that maybe the sickness that Diezini went to London to treat(according to another source who called it a 'particularly dangerous form of Cancer') was also probably caused by Madam in a bid to keep her dear husband away from greedy women like Diezini( which was also while she wanted to do Full Body Work and Tummy Tuck- one of the operating stories at that time). The concluded that the 'Battle for GEJ' had just began between these two most powerful women of Nigeria. This is not Journalism, It is called Character Assassination, Period. Which should not be too surprising cos even before this woman became Petroleum Minister, some very powerful persons in certain regions of this country took up spaces in the newspapers seriously opposing her appointment( just as some other persons did against Barth Nnaji and Ngozi Iweala). Might this be an extension of that campaign which never really stop? The sad thing in all of this is that there might actually be some aspects of the report(this report on Hotel Expenditure) that is not only correct but should be sufficiently serious enough to warrant our complete attention as a nation. Maybe. But the problem is the huge Credibility issue |
Sheguama: My score card. Oke PDP 1st, Mimiko LP 2nd, Olatunji PPA (Panama guy) 3rd. That was an exciting debate in any case.So where was the ACN? Cud they not debate, you know wit facts? If it is to write thrash to attempt degrade d Highest Office in d land , they wud be 'excellent'; see opportunity to really talk about what they want to do, they flop.. *sad* ACN should plz not make me dislike them; still love and admire ppl like Fashola, Oshiomohle, Fayemi and still generally prefer them to d PDP But cant stand frivolities and shallowness. Lai mohammed should be called to order b4 more people view them as a bunch of noisemakers |
Double post |
God bless those people who provided the info...kudos to the people of Kano who have mostly presented demselves creditably through out this BH drama. God bless our courageous Men in Uniform; we thank them for choosing to sacrifice their lives for the rest of us. |
Just copy copy. ICT or whatever you call it will not give us functional education. Let sort out the fundamental problem first and every other thing will add up. If I am in GEJ position, I will introduce a sound civic education first to empower our people with sound political knowledge. With these no politician can manipulate the people again. Do this and give corruption a sound fight and everything will add up. Trying to copy white people without first reshaping our thought processes will never work. We must understand ourselves as Nigerian, and as individuals before we can make a head-start as a people. It is this that is at the foundation of the problems we have in our nation. Colonialism made us an inferior people and we are yet to get over this. The Educational system they gave us was meant to make us their servants and not to empower us. The corruption they inculcated in us as a means of controlling us have given birth to an uncontrollable level of treasury looting and irresponsibility in our land. These is the problem. Copying and pasting will never solve our problem. Original thinking will do
I endorse most of what you said here esp bout how our educational system(formal and even more critically, informal) should rediscover our originality as a people and use that as the fundamental substrate upon which any other educational architecture may be placed....our educational has to be fundamentally changed eventually.. Having said that, the ICT thing is a good move |
I ma get my copy asap. Any work by Achebe is always pleasurable in its artistry and educative in its - Achebe been a master in the balance bw the message and the arts....perhaps, it may also further define my 'Igboness', my identity even if dont think it wud EVER be sympathic of the idea of ' the rising sun' . Fiercely Nigeria |
Hahaha....effect of signing of d Performance Bond. Everybodi don dey fear....anyways, good move |

@Demdem. By now u shld hv known dat i do not just post info witout looking tru it properly. Have you read the Electoral Act 2010 and d 1999 constitution( as amended)? Download and read them and determine if INEC does not draw its finances from the 1st Line charge; if the duration of electoral disputes hv not been pegged at 6months instead of d previous open-ended time frame; if there has not be a more structured process and timeline for nomination and substitution of candidates by parties; and if the electoral process itself have not bn changd...read tru them and intimate me wit why u said i was wrong.....i wud be fully responding to you and pasting links later today once i grab my laptop |
ballabriggs: With the number of 'Investor and tourism fora' past and present governments have held with so called "potential investors", by now Nigeria ought to be a haven for FDI. But this is not the case. Why give these people our tea and sandwich for free when they are unwilling to invest. I dare Jona to even serve them cassava bread and see if that will convince them to come. Why dont you shut up if you do not know wot you are talking. Cant understand why ignorant peeps make assertions in public confidently!it beats me everytime....meanwhile in d world of facts, Nigeria had by far d highest FDI in Africa last year at about $9billion *smhv* |
Demdem: Am particularly interested in this part of ur post. Apart from appointing Jega as INEC chairman, what reform has been put in place? The Uwais panel on electoral reform which suggested real and effective electoral reforms, what part of this report has the retardeen put in reality or is ongoing?Demdem INEC now has access to d First Line Charge of d Federation ie financial independence; Demdem d Electoral register has been substantially cleaned up from those days when Micheal Jackson was a voter in 9ja; Demdem Accreditation now starts b4 d elections, people physical counted against d register b4 elections based only on d physical accreditation done there in d full glare of everyone commences; Demdem results are now clearly pasted and announced in the electoral units b4 been transmitted to d collation centres tru legally determined documentation signed by all d agents(gone are those days results were written in d bedrooms of ppl); Demdem the process of nominatn of candidates by parties has been streamlined and timed; Demdem all electoral matters are now determined by d courts within a 6months period instead of open-ended time period as was previously the case; Demdem the roles and duties of security agents during elections have bn clearly streamlined etc etc. Demdem Political 'heavyweights' like Obj, Anenih, Bankole are been retired 4rm politics cos they now lose elections. Demdem no president has presided over a period of largely credible elections and stuck his reputation to d achievement of same in d history of d country like GEJ(from Anambra immediately he became acting president in 2010 tru d 2011 general elections to Edo elections this year- even to Zaria House of Assembly elections 2 weeks ago). Once an opposition is strong, well organised, on ground truout all d constituencies and have a better narrative they can win any incumbent party just as what happened in d Southwest, Zamfara, Nasarawa, Imo and odas in 2011, Edo recently and what did NOT happen nationally in 2011... I hope I helped. Cheers lol |
People are going through a tough time presently in many communities in Nigeria, help already provided by d FG, State and NGO agencies shld be up-ed.. The effects of this disaster are not only immediate but unfortunately long term(farmlands, businesses, schools, homes, infrastructure etc destroyed); we wud all(the authorities and even d rest of us) need to help them now and for the forseeable future |
I feel the southeast get's sorted in this deal and it's unfortunate. There's no reason why the southeast shouldn't have a direct line to Abuja, this is ridiculous.
I agree with you |
dayokanu: If 1.2 bn is for design then we can guess how much for the total workI think that its a Public-Private Partnership(PPP) initiative |
billante: My thoughts exactly! Dat abuja-ajaokuta rail line should be extended to east, it doesn't make sense ending at ajaokuta. There is already a brand new Standard guage track laid from Ajaokuta through Aladja through Agbor to Warri..maybe they will add dis proposed one to it |
hercules07: I just smile when I see write ups like this, the opposition is meant to be on the President's case, they are meant to criticize him all through his tenure, the PDP and other parties should do the same in the SW, it will keep the leaders on their toes and they will know that they should not take the people for granted, there is a difference between criticism and lies, as long as what the opposition says is the truth, then they should carry go. I do not outsource my problems to God, God did not design to give me a weakling as President, he either performs or gets out.Go and get him out na. What are you waiting for COWARD?..you understand u show yrself a whinning clown if the only thing u do is to make noice online?u understand dat right? |
Even though the President is within the current law(which should be changed), I VERY strongly urge the President to declare his assets publicly; and in fact also urge his ministers to do same |
aspabay: ◦⌣ok⌣◦ Mr. Maku, tell us what the FG has done or better still post a link to where your FG has done or said anything good or bad about the Lokoja lock jam. Don't come here and argue blindly if you've not got facts. So we have to wait to ask the people if government has said or did anything? If this is how you reason, then you need a major brain upgrade. #Pathetic indeed.Did you somehow jump over this? The ACN's entire premise for dis silly talk is based on 2 points: the Abuja-Lokoja road's infrastructure 'bad state' caused d flooding(or made it worse perhaps) AND d president didnt send anyone to inspect d flooded areas. These are complete lies and shows d unfortunate shallowness d ACN have to sink to recently. How would the infrastructure of a road stop a river whose depth have risen to its highest levels in a 100yrs(10-15m) from been flooded? It beats d hell out of me. Perhaps if it was paved in pure gold d goddess of d river may have decided to avoid it and only flood d unpaved areas on its other side! obviously d gr8t infrastructure of some roads in Britain failed to protect them 4rm been flooded just ysterday; perhaps Lagos(an ACN state) have d worst road infrastructure in 9ja cos it always has d worst flooding in d entire country everytime rain falls 4 just a day?FG has not done or said anything good or bad about the Lokoja lock jam, right? You want points and links, eh? Okay: http://blueprintng.com/2012/09/kogi-floods-were-doing-our-best-to-arrest-situation-fg/ (FG sends Delegation of Ministers to Kogi over the floods) http://www.channelstv.com/home/2012/09/24/frsc-blocks-abuja-lokoja-route-due-to-heavy-flooding/ (FRSC under orders from FG closes the flooded Abuja-Lokoja Road after previously controlling the movements of cars so as to safe lives, and diverts traffic to another road ) http://www.vanguardngr.com/2012/09/fg-orders-berger-rcc-to-free-lokoja-abuja-road-from-flooding/ (Minister of Works takes Construction firms to Kogi in other to open an alternative by-pass for vehicles through Kogi instead of having to pass through Benue) http://www.vanguardngr.com/2012/09/fg-opens-by-pass-on-lokoja-abuja-road/ (Within 2 days this alternative by-pass is practically done ) NIMET(an agency of the FG) was the organisation that gave warnings on this to state governors to relocate people from the coastal floodplains which saved those who listen; and NEMA(another FG agency) have been camping and taking care of thousands of displaced people. Did you say the FG has not done or said any thing about the flooded Abuja-Lokoja Road? Read. I love dealing with ignorants like you who show their ignorance publicly confidently..it is painful to see such display of ignorance but sweet to deal with them |
I think that we can trust the Minister to some extent(forget PDP or ACN or even CPC- they are all the same) On rails, the NRC that have been moribund for very many years have been revived, more workers re-engaged and most of its dilapidated facilities across the nation repaired; all the rail tracks in the country are been rehabilitated(actually most of the tracks have been rehabilitated already and some intra- and interstate trains services have started running after a very long time in deed). The Standard Guage Itakpe-Aladja-Warri rail track is finally completed(with additions planned) while the Modern Abuja- Kaduna track is on going(about 30% completion) just as the Double track Lagos-Ibadan Modern(which is different from the narrow guage Lagos-Ibadan which is already running trains) has been awarded about 3 months ago. The Abuja Modern Light Railways is continuing and the government just secure virtually all the monies needed for the project as concession loan from China. http://leadership.ng/nga/articles/31659/2012/08/04/rail_rehabilitation_are_we_waiting_godot.html file:///C:/Users/odia/Desktop/New%20folder/Newfolder/Nigeria-Federal+Government+Raise+Power+Output+9+000MW.htm The Minister is amongst the ministers in this govt that is working. He is actually overseeing arguably Nigeria's most significant transformation in its Transportation Sector(Rails, Inland Waterways, Seaports efficiency etc) in its history. The projects are also supposed to be done using a PPP arrangement, right? That may make one to have some confidence in the completion of the projects(or at least some of it) apart from an obviously working ministry. We need to however keep putting them on their toes though. |
The various govts should STOP using Nigerian money to take people to pilgrimages(Christian or Muslim). The FG should only be interested in providing Consular Services to the pilgrims, shikena. ....in the meantime, it is a grave diplomatic slight that the Saudis gave us with the way they handled this matter. Do we have the stomach to react appropriately? Would Religious Considerations/Supposed 'Affinities' not get in the way on what needs doing. May God's Help our Sisters presently in Saudi who have been 'imprisoned' in another clime for days. |
Your point is noted but you clearly went off the mark. The issue here is simple. Did Maku err in his statement where he stated that NASS resolutions do not have any legal effect and so not binding? No. Did Maku eat his words? No. Did Maku ever deny making the statements credited to him? No. Did Maku apologise to the senate? Yes. For what? For misinterpreting his clear position on a question posed to him by the press and painting the picture that he lacks regard for the NASS. Does Maku disregard NASS? No. So why apologise? To avoid any mischief makers who may latch on his statements to deepen the already existing executive/legislative faceoff
Okay then, fair enough..and nice summing up by the way |
wellmax: Me thinks ACN is on point. Go see what Obama and other great leaders do whenever there is a disaster, natural or man made. All GEJ and his federal ministers do is to wait till they are 'yabbed' before they make a move. Silly govt.If you are not an i.diot or a 'Pledger', how did you know that they have not done anything till 'they are yabbed'? Have the people that are affected told you that they have all been abandoned? Have the governors of the various states(who should actually be doing their own bits) complained to you that the FG have abandoned them? Where did you get the info that the FG 'have not been doing anything'? From this thread perhaps? #pathetic |
dayokanu: As useless as OBJ was, I cant remember a time when there was a disaster and OBJ jetted out. Can you remind us of one instance?Did Obj visit Zaki-Ibiam or Odi when does guys were massacred and the ones remaining were suffering?...oh wait, he was the one who ordered it. Lai Mohammed have activated his agents in the various units after releasing a silly press statement so they can finish the 'job', ko?..you are actually doing your own part very well. |
. |
CrazyMan: So you feel Nigeria can develop with the way he (Jonathan) and his caucus have lavished our funds. One may ignore silly soundbites from i.diots like Sisi, lacasa, dayokanu etc(which isn't surprising cos they are 'Pledgers' who need to fulfill the commitments they have taken) but d peddling of LIES(aka d distortion of facts) to achieve selfish aims is no-no. Am curious- did you produce those figures you just wrote from yr anus? Or you too just wanted to talk cos others were talking, ko? |
