playah P: YES.What nonsense are you writing? You are one of the reasons why some peeps would feel that this act( burning of other people without trials) is somehow okay or even participate in such public killings cos people like you try to make a terrible thing like Cultism 'sexy'. You are even calling it '..a Business organisation'.. Abeg, SHUT your mouth joor |
This news has just spoilt my day....starting from those stupid 'Elders' who passed the guilty verdict without any Real trials whatsoever and then those heartless people who carried out the 'verdict' and killed those boys without been copletely certain of their guilt, should be arrested and charged for MURDER. And no body here should tell anything bout 'Arm Robbery' this and that- no one is SURE that all of them committed the 'crime' for which they have been Murdered( for God's sakes, there is a reason why PROVE BEYOND ALL REASONABLE DOUBT is a requirement before even properly constituted courts would sentenced a convicted criminal to death). Moreover, who knows the next victim of an uncouth frustrated bunch of illiterates who decides to take matters into thier hands- perhaps any of you supporting this travesty or maybe members of your family and friends? This is the height of BARBARISM. The people who this this are no different from Terrorists- since they too in carrying out their atrocities also pass judgements on select people and execute those 'judgements' themselves( who of course are not given any opportunity, talkless of a fair one, to defend themseves). SICKENING. |
Pukkah: It doesn't look like the GDP has not been shrinking. The realized growth rate for 2011 was 7.74% whereas the projection for 2012 was 6.38%.Jeez..@bolded does not mean that the GDP is shrinking. That the GDP growth rate decreased from 6.67% in 2011( not 7.74% like you said) to around 6.5% so far this year DOES NOT mean that the GDP is 'shrinking', it only means that the growth rate has decreased marginally ie it has EXPANDED but less than it did last year- in fact, at an average of more than 6%, it is one of the fastest growing in the world.. Plz understand the dynamics of your stats. By the way, I did not downplay the effects of insecurity in the north on GDP growth rate, jsut that it has only affected the national rate to a much smaller extent http://www.google.com.ng/publicdata/explore?ds=d5bncppjof8f9_&met_y=ny_gdp_mktp_kd_zg&idim=country:NGA&dl=en&hl=en&q=gdp+growth+rate+of+nigeria |
From what i hear, 9jaria is not going to appeal the judgement per say, she is just going to lounge a formal complaints about perceivd Human Rights violations of the people of Bakassi( who still consider themselves Nigerians) probably as a leech to further negotiate 9jaria's interests with Cameroon going further Or even as an 'excuse' to eventually force a Referedum of the people there and get d place back.... i don tire 4 how we tk handle d mata since |
The World Bank has said there is no reliable data with which to correctly measure the decline or increase in Nigeria’s poverty rate. In a video press conference to mark the release of Africa’s Pulse, an analysis of issues shaping the continent’s economic future, the World Bank’s Chief Economist for the African region, Mr. Shanta Devarajan, said the poverty rate in the continent’s resource rich was reducing slower than in non-rich resource nations. Answering a specific question on Nigeria’s poverty rate, Devarajan said the subject was very controversial and suggested that the country should invest more in the production of statistics that were reliable. “We (World Bank) don’t know Nigeria’s poverty rate. We don’t know whether it is going up or coming down. There is a lot controversy surrounding it. There is need to invest in data,” he said. The National Bureau of Statistics had in February released figures that showed that the nation’s poverty level was increasing. The report was mired in controversy as it was rejected by the Federal Government. The Statistician-General of the Federation, Dr. Yemi Kale, had said, “It remains a paradox … that despite the fact that the Nigerian economy is growing, the proportion of Nigerians living in poverty is increasing every year. “NBS estimates that this trend may have increased further in 2011 if the potential positive impacts of several anti-poverty and employment generation intervention programmes are not taken into account.” According to him, the poverty rate in Nigeria may have risen to 71.5 per cent, 61.9 per cent, and 62.8 per cent using the relative, absolute and dollar-per-day measures, respectively, adding that the picture would become clearer when the Annual Socio-Economic Survey would be completed later in the year. Devarajan, however, said the continent needed to translate the high growth rate it was enjoying into poverty reduction, adding that job creation remained an important instrument for poverty reduction. He said the continent had a large young population that could make it a powerhouse in the future, but regretted that with the slow rate of job creation, the young people might end up working in the informal sector as their parents. In a statement issued at the end of the conference, the World Bank said Africa was expected to grow at 4.8 per cent for all of 2012. Excluding South Africa, the continent’s largest economy, growth in sub-Saharan Africa was forecast to rise to six per cent http://www.punchng.com/business/business-economy/no-reliable-data-on-nigerias-poverty-rate-world-bank/ |
Katsumoto: You will do well to quote sources when providing stats such as $9 Billion, highest FDI in Africa, 70-80% of stock exchange being held by foreigners.Okay. http://www.punchng.com/business/business-economy/nigeria-leads-africa-with-8-92bn-fdi-report/ ( FDI) http://www.compassnewspaper.org/index.php/special-desk/business-news/8310 (Stock Exchange) I might not have seen The Economist Report you cited , but the 'shrinkage' of the GDP of the north does not mean that same occurs at the national level sine the Northeast is actually the least contributor of Nigeria's GDP growth. As a matter of fact, Nigeria's national GDP is increasing instead of shrinking- it is growing at an average of 6.5% per annum. Perhaps those foreign investors are leaving the Northeast, not the nation. Again, I advise you to at least take a closer look at opportunities in Nigeria instead of concentrating on the challenges; the foreign and some few savvy local investors dont seem to be that gloomy at the outlook and possibilities of our economy- they may reap bountifully where we failed to sow. |
wizecoder: Funny country....... mining iron ore without functional steel rolling mill ....google itakpe BIF..........The Standard Itakpe-Ajaokuta-Aladja Rail track is almost ready...all the tracks have been laid( very beautiful) just remaining the navigational aids |
Zutchy: I thought some senseless people said that this govt is wasteful, please somebody should tell me something, when your foreign reserve rises doesn't it mean that you are saving more and cutting down on your expenditure,so it means therefore that this govt is being prudent with the resources at its disposal.nice one to GEJ and the indomitable NOI.Well people talk; problem is that many of them do so without some facts. See this summary of the handling of budget parameters since 2010-2013 since GEJ came in: Highlights of the Framework:Judge for yourself |
This is why i maintain that SR is a Rumour peddling channel and not a Newspaper in the proper. How does 'we have #530million in this yr's budget...while we have put #1billion in next yr's budget' requird to complete d project, mean that govt has already startd using nx yr's budget........it is just astonishing that such complete cluelessness of d basis of d Budgeting process wud be some publicly shown. Shame *shm* |
Hahahaha....i don tire |
kunlekunle: you are a typical nairalander, you write, then think. What did just write? I mean, wot were u trying to pass across? Except you have a problem with capitalism or the so-called 'Free' Enterprise System, then i honestly dont get wot u just wrote...if you answer is in d affirmative, then the onus wud be on you to provide an explanatn of the alternative system that you bliv can work in 9jaria |
People plz take a very good look at what is happening in Agriculture or sm oda sectors currently...u own yrself the obligatn of at least looking instead of taking d pessimistic views of odas at face value, then decide |
manny4life: All these arguments, some relevant, while some "mere illusions" (I had to borrow Kat's word). This is what i dont just understand: investors are not likely to come to 9jeria. Doug, Nigeria had almost $9billion FDI in-flow, significantly d highest in Africa last yr- does this show an economy dat investors are unwilling to put their money in? ( except of course you are one of those persons who think dat $9billion is small for an economy dat is about $260billion big! ). You say investors are ' unlikely to buy'- that's funny cos d 9jerian bond market have bn liquid for sm time now and dat liquity has even increasd since d news of the intention of JP Morgan to list sm of 9jaria's bond few months ago filtered in( all of these driven by foreign investors by d way). Foreign investors, including d 'unconventional' ones( like Chinese and Indians even South Africans) are busy taking over most parts of our economy( i read smwhere recently that about 70-80% of our Stock Exchange is held by foreigners) while we keep doing wot we are good at- Complain... By d time all these 'noice' subside and we realise our folly, we wud really hv found out we have bn largely pushd out in our own background, and of course then do more of : Complaints( but unfortunately then perhaps it wud have bn a little late) |
CyberG: We know all the money was stolen...but ask Iwuala why she hasn't released their money? Imagine, and this stupid flop of a woman is writing a book?Na wa. Money kept in transit at TSA administrd by d Account-General means that Iweala has 'eaten' the money? Do you know d meaning of TSA? |
Na wa..na im be the only word pason fit talk afta reading this ie afta Laughing one's azzz out I swear say this Bukola Ekujuni is a memeber of NL....this na the kind of ppl we dey face here day in, day out |
This thread has bn d most Shocking thread i hv ever seen on NL...am 'talkless', let me go and clear my head |
Joeadamu86: Pls Taharqa this issue has been over flogged,it is giving some people prominence on this platform, only the supreme beings don't make mistakes,I believe this is an eye opener for the presidency to be more accurate in its future endeavors. No one is perfect even in America there are mistakes it's not peculiar to Nigeria alone..it's a wake up call.Agreed. I was just pissd at d hypocrisy of sm peeps, but I hear you |
Gbawe: Mumu. Always making a fool of yourself. I don't suggest you are fearful of me but you make it obvious you may be because that is what comes to your paranoid, scaredy-Cat mind when I meant something else entirely. I am talking about the fearful persona of GEJ and his fans, like you, that means you automatically start pointing fingers at others over issues that concern you alone and nobody else. Get it now olodo?Eh, spin? Me? Wondas have actualli ended. Okpe, i was the one who immediately admitted that there was a mistake with the info afta seeing the Businessday and Premium times reports; you on the oda hand, was shamelessly defending the express LIE of yr master even afta he was caught. Who is the deceitful one amongst us, and the hypocrite who is now running around since morning mastur.bating ova a lesser 'offense' of smone else? Gosh! Sm ppl are just so shameless. Infact, lets do smthing: go tru my post history and post any instance where i delibrately distortd info or 'spin'; then dare me to do the same with you...yeye pason, i hv criticized GEJ at times, hv you done d same with Tinubu? As a matter of fact, i didnt vote 4 Gej last time( cos of his party), and one of d 3 reasons why am supporting him now is cos of d Backrupcy and shallowness of the arguments of his core opponents whose only aim is to bring him down.. Constructive criticism has its own principles, and it sure doesnt include Propaganda and Hypocrism |
Sky Blue: We need a voice that will tell our stories with a bit more objectivity and local insight, not a channel that will 'project the good part of Africa to the outside world'. The media can be a good tool in the process of democracy, we need to drop this ego tripping. If I want to read about just nice things I can pick up a children's novel about unicorns and fairies having tea with the farm animals.I agree with you. Media houses should not set out to push any agenda or opinion( 'good' or 'bad') except they expressly state that any such opinion is theirs. Let this new Tv channel show Africa as it is, and since Africa is not remotely as bad as the Western media portray her as, the good would be obvious just as the bad would also be showd.....i love what d Great AA poet Langston Hughes once said ' We know we are beautiful and ugly too'..just show it as it is whilst projecting and protecting Africa's interests. Congrats to the owners, wish them well |
Gbawe: Like I said before, you GEJ fans are exactly like your messiah. Feudalistic, very insecure, divisive and unable to focus on what matters. GEJ is the President of Nigeria and not Tinubu. Deal with that. All you continue to show, when you talk, is that you are exactly like GEJ i.e fearful of everyone/everything and unable to concentrate on what matters. you guys, much like Mr. President, are obsessed and totally consumed with attacking fictitious "enemies" you see while awake and asleep. Childishly and distractingly, you blame these convenient "enemies" for all your problems, incompetence and lack of ability. Pathetic. Perhaps Tinubu is now GEJ's speech writer. Olodo. Abeg, turn and face your front. My God..'fearful' of who? you? hahahaha...u are funny. I dont have any respect 4 your opinions here on NL( and you are talking about 'fear', na wa) cos you are a damn hypocritic and a paid agent( again, hw come u hv bn here since early morning, dont you hv any oda tin to do?)...plz dont make me laugh too much, lol |
torkaka: tinubu is not the president of nigeria and so therefore his actions or inactions will not cause embarrassment to the good people of nigeria.Seal yr mouth kid. Tinubu is now not the president( that is the new line to defend his lie, abi?); i thought he was 'the leader of the opposition in Nigeria', abi dat one no count again? Anyone una give am, you guys were defending his express lie cos he is the source of the political crumbs that you guys get from time to time. Wot now gives you guys the right to run yr mouths on a goof made by smone else which he has since admittd. I almost hate hypocrites and have NO respect for them; b4 u push any point in public learn to BE CONSISTENT if you want to be taken seriously. Moreova, leaders around the world find themselves in such embarrasing positions where they goof- what is needful then is to admit it and move on. Infact, most leaders tell outright lies( which this was not), smtimes they are caught oda times not..abegi clear road hypocrite joor |
Gbawe: Get lost. Submit your own opinion and leave others to do same. Stop this silly show of emotions that stems from your inability to accept criticism of your mediocre and failing messiah. Feudalistic olodos like you are always talking of Tinubu. Is he the President? Does he even have a Government job? It is no coincidence you fans of GEJ are like him. You are cut from the same cloth which leaves you focusing on enemies, percieved or real, instead of dealing with facts and what is relevant.Shut up again my frnd as in keep quiet- yr spin and propaganda wud nt save u this time around. Go to d 1st page of this thread and the 1st page of the yterday's thread and see my immediate response on this issue: i swiftly admittd the mistake as per the specified time and advicd d Presidency to do same which they just did. You on the other hand, led the move here to shamelessly defend the express lie told by yr master Tinubu and yr party ACN, yet here u are running around since morning( by the way, dont you hv any oda tin that u do?) and mastur.bating ova a lesser 'offence' that d person involvd swiftly admittd. 4 yr info, i didnt comment on dat 'Tinubu lie' thread not cos i didnt think dat it was wrong for him to hv lied or for his party to try to defend him instead of doing the right thing and owing up, but cos sm persons were bashing Tinubu on dat thread JUST to push sm political gains, and i dont hv the time 4 such meaningless political frivolities; yet that is exactly wot u re doing here afta defending a lie when it suitd you( and you do not know how hypocritic and desparent you look here)....shameless critic/'pledger' |
Gbawe: My Sister, some of us stated it here repeatedly that we were deploying a clueless and unprepared mediocrity to be President. We predicted all what is being seen now and the fact Nigeria would indeed became a joke under this guy. It is not for nothing standards exist in ambitious Nations, to now include our African neigbhours, no one should be allowed to go below.Abegi keep quite and stop running around all relatd threads mastur.bating over this issue. If the President is 'clueless' by admitting an indiscretion and making clarificatn, then yr master(Tinubu) is a certified Lier for deceiving the nation as per the Democratic Convention fiasco and yr party( ACN) hypocrites for attempting to defend the lie. You were the chief defendate of that lie here on NL and you hv no shame running around on this issue here..go find sm sleep jare |
omo alaro: The same Beaf or Reno Omokri that is fast becoming an embarrassment to his principal. Planting false information in news paper and turning around to use the same false information as "notorious fact".The info on businessday was correct, it was the interpretation of same as per time period specified that was wrong which the Presidency is now clarifying. It is unfortunate and in a way embarassing but it happens to leaders around the world, and the best way to deal with it is what have just been done |
taharqa: Oh SHUT yr mouth u ACN goon @Dayokanu. It was not a lie per say but a mistake that had to do the actual time period( 2011 vs 2001-2011) that was stated in d TI analysis, which the Presidency is admitting and clarifying- which takes a lot of courage. Compare with how yr master( Tinubu) Lied to the nation recently that the Democratic Party and even Obama specially invited him to the Democratic Convention as the ' Leader of the Opposition in Nigeria' when he actually bought the ticket himself as an ordinary guest; and worse was that his party (the ACN) ridiculously tried defending the lie, even here on NL led by yr leader on this forum Gbawe, instead of just doing the right yet hard thing- admit yr fault and move on. If you guys now want to hypocritically mastur.bate over this goof( which was swiftly admittd) plz go on, who cares really? |
dayokanu: Jona you still wonder why they call you clueless Retardeen?Oh SHUT yr mouth u ACN goon @Dayokanu. It was not a lie per say but a mistake that had to do the actual time period( 2011 vs 2001-2011) that was stated in d TI analysis, which the Presidency is admitting and clarifying- which takes a lot of courage. Demdem: Morron, SR only published what a presidential spokesman released to the general public. SR is in line. The President only clarified that the part about the TI report was misleading, not other parts of that speech. If you have any issues with it, point it out so we could debate it. http://dailytimes.com.ng/article/52nd-independence-speech This move by the Presidency is simply the best move: admit your mistake, express your regrets and move on. They rightly judged that it doesn't show weakness but Strength to admit( I certainly would NEVER have supported them if they did otherwise cos cant stand Distortions ). It takes courage to discountenance the pettiness of some opposition critics who would surely pounce on this admission of indiscretion to further their own political aims, and do the RIGHT thing; Leadership requires such courage at times. I expressed my thoughts on this yesterday: I have gone through the both articles thoroughly. |
Rhea: We can start an enlightenment campaign by taking pictures of these sore sights in our environment and uploading them here for the world to see.Best comment so far...leave some of them; let them just be complaining instead of DOING something about it( aka being Involved). Some of these roads have been ongoing for long cos the contractors( even the big time ones) said they have not been paid; most of the contractors have been substantially paid recently for the dry season- use your Camera phones, monitor the projects , keep the contractors and ultimately the Govt on their toes. A people who have not bee really engaged in the governance of her country, deserves what they get from that country. |

kingoflag: Fond of me?!?!? Dude, are you ok?! Where the hell do we know each other from?hahahahahahahahaa..............ROFLMAO You see why I say am fun of you. plz post more often o. Sorry you didnt answer one of the questions: what is the GDP size of the Nigeria economy, eh kingoflag? Loving this.. |
kunlekunle: breaking newsStop behaving as if you are only talking to kids. And stop SHOUTING. Virtually every bank in the US and Europe have been sued at various times( In fact, many of them are been sued or under ongoing serious investigations right now- ever heard of HSBC?). It is no longer news really; just comes with the territory, part of the game. JP Morgan ,just like the others, would only be required to pay some fees if found guilty shikena. The West would not watch any of their main Banks/Financial go under( Lehman Brothers wahala ring a bell?), lailia. That's one of the reasons when people act as though the West is clean( in terms of corruption or what they call 'deals') some of us laugh PS: This does not mean the the terrible levels of corruption in Nigeria( both govt and general society) is not a major clog i our way as a nation, and must be tackled o. |
kingoflag: Ummm yeah, $280+.... U forgot the + by the way.You really do think that the above you wrote make any sense whatsoever? Kingoflag, am curious: have you ever attending a university( or any higher Educational institution)? Have you ever heard of the phrase 'Demonstration of (one's) fact'. Your penchant for concocting Conspiracy theorems and passing same as something the serious peeps should even remotely take serious is laughable. You want let me humour you, I am in the mood right now. Instead of telling me '...that's is my estimate', just show how you came about that estimate from the..i actually dont know what to call what 'parameters' you used above to arrived at that 'estimate' of us is.. CLUE: Do you know the GDP Size of the Nigeria economy? Again, you mean that GEJ used $250+( yes sorry I forgot to include the '+' sign previously) in 2 years, and we still have an economy. hahaha..... Plz take the advice I gave you in my previous comment seriously, K?. You know I am fond you, lol |
