Olodostein: If I told you, you would pee in your pant... I wouldn't like to blow my humble cover especially to a short sighted dokita like you...4 yr mind @Olodo-style....anyways, if u are actuali doing smthing about it, dats gud- dats wot we all shld be doing; although i hv mostly seen u 'Talk' in NL |
OYINBOGOJU: Can anyone tell me One basic investments America has in Nigeria? Was this just askd by an educatd person? |
Zeus I: supported!!! They should target politicians next time(another terrorists might ensue from the south with the aid of U.S), as well as pirating against Nigerian oil ships that crosses their path, that is the lot of an uncaring father who wastes his resources on senseless things while neglecting things of import, his naughty son will have to attack him sooner or later. Besides U.S always stealthily support such a group with arms, owing to their oil wells. And if care is not taken, U.S might cause so much social and political upheaval there to come aboard and have a closer military base beside 'the most populous black country in the world', and Africa will be their slave for life. I dey laugh, Nigerians no de think nou. That is conspiracy theory for you, which was used to start this so called Boko Haramic insurgency( to dis-stablise Nigeria) to make their prophesy a reality( Nigeria to divide by 2015). And all the dumb masses do, is to complain and dream of utopia which will never come.I just askd that u get yr head checkd in anoda thread; afta you are u tru wit dat, plz ask them for voluntarily Admission cos u need it . Cheers |
PLZ CAN ANYONE TELL TELL THIS BEAUTIFUL LADY TO NAME THE SPECIAL JUDGES FOR CORRUPTION CASES AS SHE PROMISED MORE THAN 3 MONTHS NOW. We need to furda reduce corruptn and a dedicatd and fast judicial process for corruptn cases is d KEY, so that these cases do not continue to stall in our courts for enternity |
obadiah777: GOOD QUESTION. IF IT WASNT ILLEGAL THEN ALL THIS WAHALA WILL VANISH AND IT WOULD BE CHEAPER. I THINK IT IS ILLEGAL BECAUSE THIS IS A HUGE SOURCE OF CURRENCY FOR AMERICA. THEY CONTROL ALL THE DRUGS IN AFGHAN AND SOUTH AMERICA. THEY MAKE THE MAJOR MONEY FROM IT AND THE AMERICAN GOVT HATES COMPETITION SO IT CRIMINALIZES ANYONE ELSE WHO TRIES TO DABBLE IN IT. ON THE PATH OF NAIJA ? WE ARE JUST DOING FOLLOW FOLLOW BEHIND AMERICAN POLICYSm ppl's head need to be checkd, lol |
Olodostein: Talk ! Talk! And and more talk.... We don't always need outsiders to advice us and tell us what to do.And what hv u ever done to improve anything in dis environment apart from talk? |
slimming: corruption will not allow us the ordinary citizen to benefit from such investment and support. And what hv you done about it cept complaining and whinning in order to perhaps get sm false 'feel good' knock-out effect that you are doing smthing. Hv u joind d move to urge d CJN to name Special Judges on corruptn Or tried to monitor d executn of projects by contractors and govt agencies Or use d FOI bill to expose corrupt practices etc? Hv u look at sm of d things dis admin is doing to open govt financing and processes in order to furda expose corrupt? What are u doing cept Complaining and Whinning |
2mch: This FG still does not realize that any business they run is dead on arrival and very dangerous for the consumer.@2mch, from the article they wud nt be govt owned. |
nkem Kalu: TOO MUCH STORY FULL YA MOUTH MUMU....I GO...I GO....I GO....THAT IS ALL WE HAVE BEEN HEARING FROM THIS UR USELESS GOVERNMENT. THE PIB BILL U TALKED ABOUT WHY CAN'T UR USELESS GOVERNMENT AND URSELF ASK THOSE UR HANDPICKED LEGISLATORS TO PASS THE BILL OR ATLEAST USE EXECUTIVE INFLUENCE TO PASS THE BILL. ALL U KNOW IS N5,000.OO NOTE.....CONFUSED FOOLS. COME AND DARE HIKING PRICE OF PETROL NEXT YEAR AND SEE THE CONSEQUENCES. THE ONES U HAVE DEREGULATED BEFORE WHERE IS THE MONEY?....EWU DEREGULATIONYou are truly an empty head and a lousy fellow, and am truly sorry for quoting you. 'my govt' abi?so am a govt official, eh? Anyways, keep complaining that is the easier tin Cowards do; i mean u cant do any tin apart 4rm that, which unfortunately sums u up. Goodluck |
Dauchman: You are very correct with your analysis. The truth is some industries are very capital intensive and we might not have businesses in Nigeria dat can fund those industries, that is where govt plays a vital role. For instance if govt had subsidized d telecom industry partially Nigerians wld hav started enjoying the benefits of fibre optics. Was in Nigeria a few months back and was appaled by the speed of d internet and also the cost of such shitty internet. Some pple say d telecoms industry in nigeria has arrived and I say u are dreamers, for 15pounds on O2 netwrk in the UK I get 500messages to any netwrk, 100mins to any netwrk and landlines starting wit 01 and 02, monthly BIS convert dat to naira and dats about 3800 a month. If u had dat in nigeria calculate hw much u wld pay per month. Fact is u need govt for the economy to run, iff u leave everytin to d forces of demand and supply the economy wld collapse. Govt always has a role to play for the success of any economy. D tin is which way wld she decide to intervene. How would govt subsidize d Telecom sector? The telecom sector has improvd tremedously in 9ja since its deregulatn, though it cud be much beta no doubt. It is growing, though infrastructural constraints may be limiting- govt ought to provide the right environment for these investors to enable them to grow even furda.....i agree wit u though that smtimes govt shld involve itself in sm strategic economic activities. While i bliv that d private sector shld primarily DRIVE d economy, i hv neva blivd that ' govt has no business in business'; govt shld however choose few such areas where it sees as bn strategic - for instance, it shld lead in the laying of a national IT infrastructure across nation esp in underservd areas in collaboratn wit interested private sector players, but shld stay clear of sm areas |
ideylaff: GBAM . GOD bless u. You've said it all. cos den read book den wan dey cover peoples eyes.Perhaps yr father bidded for the Generatn licenses and he was fraudulently schemd out? Apart from Otedola, who i dont like very much by d way and who was just part of a consortium that won one of d plants and agreed to pay gud money for it, which oda person associatd wit d fuel subsidy tin won any oda bin? Anyways, hw do u expect govt to legally exclude an individual by fiat from participating in a process if that person hv not bn convictd of any crimes and if the consortium d person was part of won d plants in an apparently fair process? hv u heard any of d oda persons that bidded and lost complain of d process- wot does that tell u knowing the penchant of Nigerians to complain if they lose....i hv little regards for Otedola but u guys shld stop running down any thing relatd to this country at evry chance u re given; i can assure you that Nigeria is not solely responsible for yr own Present state |
nkem Kalu: ARRANT NONESENCE......DIESEL HAS BEEN DEREGULATED, KEROSINE -DEREGULATED, AND PMS -50 PERCENT DEREGULATED.....AND WHAT HAVE WE GOT? WHERE ARE THE REFINERIES....OR ANY SIGN THAT SOMETHING GOOD IS GOING TO HAPPEN? REAL DEREGULATION SHOULD START FROM DISMANTLING NNPC AND SETTING UP A REGULATORY BODY LIKE THE NCC IN COMMUNICATION INDUSTRY WHICH SHOULD NOT BE INVOLVED IN THE BUSINESS OF PETROLEUM. NATIONAL UNIVERSITY COMMISSION IS NOT INVOLVED IN RUNNING UNIVERSITIES RATHER THEY REGULATE UNIVERSITIES AND SET STANDARDS. HERE JONATHAN WANTS TO LEAVE NNPC AS IT WERE WITH HIS CO-LOOTERS AND BE PUNISHING THE MASSES -IF HE FAILS TO DO THE RIGHT THING AND SIMPLY SHORE UP PETROLEUM PRICES NEXT YEAR, HE WILL SURELY BE PUNISHED BY A MASS ACTION....FULL STOPCome on Shut ya mouth. I wudnt mind slapping smone if i hear this corruptn again. Most of u guys who shout corruptn are thoroughly corrupt yrselves, abi u think everyone in public service is as corrupt as u? Hv u supportd d move to urge d CJN to name Special Judges for Corruptn cases which wud be the most critical move in actuali fighting corruptn in dis country?na only to run mouth and make noise una sabi....unbundling of NNPC and Regulator of d Industry u say- dont you know that that is exactly wot the PIB bill currently in d national assembly intends to do? How many times hv u urgd d legislators to pass it? you come here now doing wot a typical Nigerian do- Complain, without suggesting any alternative. If you kw u do not kw wot to say, then plz keep quiet and allow those ppl who are actuali debating debate |
savcy: #Team News:# Mikel in camp.Bwahahahahaha....yeye Nigerians, na only mouth una get |
Am almost certain d Oba was not made aware of this. Am not Bini but livd most of my life in Benin City, and I can tell that d Oba of Benin is too dynified to sanction such madness....by d way, dat gurl shld eida be suspended or even expelld |
Demdem: i honestly hope and pray that the NASS tear down this whole document and do the needful. Why wont each of the governors propose bogus amounts for their states houses also. The presidency leads, others follows.Demdem i like you to help me wit analysis the article you just postd since you seem to know much about these things. 1st, do you know that the Presidency is a huge institutn made up of not only the president and his vice and their families but also other officials and their families? Do you really think that the monies votd for food is only for the president and vice alone? Do you think it is cheap to provide refreshment and entertainment for many guests that visit the villa( whether local and foreign) including state dinners, banquests, hostings etc. Do you hv an idea of what are bn rehabilitatd/constructd in d Presidential villa? For yr info, i am a strong advocate of lean govts as much as it is possible, so wud be grateful if you can provide specifics as to why you feel the amounts are too much on the high side so i can properly direct my criticizing( plz a general ' it is too expensive' wud not be too helpful); any thing that wud furda reduce d cost of governance, even drastically as long as it is necessary is very much welcomd( i note that already this admin has so far reducd Overhead from more than #500b when it came to just above #200b now; they hv also reducd d Recurrent from about 77.5% when they came to 68.7% proposd nx yr; just as deficit as a % of GDP has come down from more than 2.9% to 2.17%- admittedly much more still needs to be done and am thinking particularly apart Oronsaye Committee)..... On the side note, it doesnt make much sense that an admin that has taken it upon itself to furnish us with details about what it spends feeding its top officials, their subordinates and families( previous admins essentially treatd it as a 'state secret') wud openly want to unnecessary waste money( or even steal?). Do you even know hw much yr state or local govt uses in this respect? |
pictures: The problem with small scale industries is high double digit interest and inaccessible loans. You are right. But the problem is that most ppl are not even aware of this( or other Intervention Funds like that in Agriculture), which is the main reason I postd it...you are also right that the economy wud do much beta if interest rates in d conventional banks decrease, which actuali is an Economic decision that requires us to be PRODUCING instead of Consuming |
You guys wud do well to read through that articles. There are so many things there( eg what the manufacturers said); d subsidy tin is just a tiny part of d article, plus no where did Sanusi say it wud be removd nx yr....... On d side, Govt shld also think through its policies, however sound they are, b4 implementing it |
Ijebulogic: ......a disaster of such magnitude must therefore be managed by experts such as Adenuga and Dangote? God Help us.Are you delibrately foolish or what? How many times wud you be told that that committee made up mostly of private sector guys is only meant to raise some additional funds from oda guys in the private sector, the general public( and if you can be useful for once, yourself inclusive ) and interestd international donors. They already targeted a minimum of #100billion yterday....i know you are slow so let me come again: their only functn is to raise additional fund for the flood victim away from what govt is and/or going to do, the experts are a different set. Okay? |
THE Federal Government may have assisted the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to make unprecedented savings of N70.6 billion in two years with its N200 billion special intervention fund for small businesses. The fund, which was initiated by the government in 2010, is expected to stimulate growth among small and medium firms. It has since enabled them to make yearly earnings of N35.30 billion. Report said the firms were able to record the all time high savings due to cheap loans they accessed from the intervention fund where they borrowed at single digit interest rate. The over N70 billion earnings they recorded could have gone to commercial banks as interest if they had accessed the loans from them at their prevailing two digit interest rate. Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Director in charge of development finance department, Mr. Paul Eluhaiwe, made this disclosure yesterday at the 2012 seminar/luncheon of the SMEs group of Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) in Lagos According to Eluhaiwe, the CBN scheme has assisted benefiting companies to access long tenured funds at single digit interest rate, thereby saving a yearly interest rate of N35.30 billion. He disclosed that the scheme has generated 16,422 new jobs, sustained the operations of 347 projects and resuscitated nine moribund companies. With the savings, he said that capacity utilisation in companies has increased correspondingly from a pre-intervention level of 25 per cent to 36 per cent, while turnover also increased by 80 per cent from a pre-intervention level of N2.97 billion to N5.34 billion. He explained: “The CBN, in an attempt to boost the growth of the SMEs has taken giant strides by initiating some schemes and programmes including the N200 billion fund. “The re-finance and restructure bank’s existing loan portfolios to manufacturers, was to achieve double-digit growth rate in line with the 2020 SMEs financing target”. Eluhaiwe stated that the apex bank has also embarked on the establishment of Entrepreneurship Development Centres (EDCs) to build the capacity of SMEs as well as curb youth unemployment. “The initiative was aimed at developing strong SMEs that can complete globally and contribute to national growth and development. Three EDSs were established in Kano, Lagos and Onisha. Approval has been granted for three new EDCs in Maiduguri, Makurdi and Calabar. “Since the inception of the EDCs, a total of 101,847 entrepreneurs had benefitted under the scheme. Over 4,373 have been able to secure job placement, while a total of N185.4 million loans were granted to 1,200 entrepreneurs. He listed SMEs challenges to include, harsh business environment, parlous infrastructural facilities, lack of long term funding for SMEs, bureaucratic bottlenecks, low technological application, weak demand for products and multiplicity of taxes, which he noted, has always resulted in high cost of doing business. http://www.ngrguardiannews.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=101256:smes-record-n706bn-savings-from-n200bn-intervention-fund&catid=31:business&Itemid=562 |
The few people in the north who think that BH is a child's play or some sort of a 'temporary' ally in a political chess game should think really really hard. Or they should ask the people of Northern Mali, Southern Yemen, Afghanistan and now Swat Valley in Pakistan, how it feels like been sympathizers of Madmen. An Extremist, any extremist, has only ONE master: his beliefs. I pray that that child(only 14) recovers fast enough. Her story was at once heart-renting as it was inspirational. You dear Malala are a thousand times greater than your assailants. |
I dont like Melaye much and I certainly do not at all believe he is an 'activist'( actually those of us who know him laugh at such a characterization of him). however, this is just an allegation from an 'anonymous' source that may not be real; and given what the Nigerian media space( both traditional and social media) have become lately, it is wiser to regard this as Speculation. |
What do you ppl gain in this silly back and forth about 'tribes'( its ethnic groups by d way); are you guys not even a little bit ashamd of fighting continuously over frivoliolities. I cant, for d world of me, tell the diff bw a Yoruba and an Igbo, and am astonishd that YOUTHS can be mastur.bating over this non-issue...plz u guys shld give it a rest; it is not even funny anymore |
Jarus: For the maiden edition, I propose we have our Politics section posters of the years 2010 and 2011 and their runners-up as debaters.I hope you know there is a huge problem here. Lets not kid ourselves, if there is going to be a debate on NL in d politics section it would eventually be about what the present admin is doing or not doing. And when you hv someone like Gbawe as a participant in such a debate, another debater with a somewhat opposing view-set should also participate. A debate where a particular view is favourd from the outset is no debate..... You guys must be commended however for this great move, as it would raise the degree of intellectual discourse and d use of FACTS whilst having such discourse in NL- something that is unfortunately increasingly becoming rare on this forum. We must bring that back cos that is the only way we may make sense of the present happenings in our beloved nation. Again, great job. |
ilugunboy: Yes Pukkah...state exactly what you have against the nomination rather than asking if am kidding or not.I was thinking of torkata, not pukkah. Comment withdrawn |
Goldieluks: I can now see why they killed the poor boys, like they were butchering a cow. What i dont get is the level of hypocrisy many of you guys are displaying in response of this terrible terrible crime. Aluu is not d 1st of such madness in Nigeria; it is one amongst many. It didnt start today, it has bn happening even b4 many of us were born; infact, it has kind of reduced in its frequency lately. The only diff bw dis particular one and odas is that in dis case there was a VIDEO- which has forcd us(hopefully) to really see the severity and callousness of taking laws into our hands and maybe ask d questn why sm ppl wud feel d 'need' to do such in d 1st place..... Aluu didnt happen cos many of its ppl were muslims, but cos they are Nigerians who cud sm times get away wit impunity |
For persons who want to know about the opportunities that is going on in the Agricultural sector, away from the dry critics running around and shouting 'nothing is happening' read this( the rice sector and the rice mills completed and near completion as at that time is also within- some of the then nearly completed mills have been completed now; also note the move to bring in 100 mills from china in collaboration with interested private investors which attracts 0% import duty and VAT): http://www.newworldnigeria.com/pdf/AdesinaLondonBOIForumfinal.pdf PS: There is a reason even the CPC in asking the president recently to sack all his ministers suggested that he retained only the Minister of Agriculture. Go figure.... Dont stay there just listening to what a typical Nigeria does: Complain, while opportunities are been taken left-right-and-centre. Stop been LAZY( especially intellectually) and SHINE your eyes. GOODLUCK |
Abule oshi: didnt this same mo-ron GEJ go to malawi some weeks back and say he wants them to export rice to Nigeria? typical GEJ being clueless as usual, i will be surprised when he starts having clues to Nigeria's numerous problems!Anoda ignoranti. GEJ said that in oda to encourage inter-African trade, Nigeria wud consider buying sm rice from Malawi in d mean time( that is b4 we hv all d capacity to meet our demands maybe in 2015) instead of importing all our rice from Thailand and Indonesia. Smart move or suggestn cos Nigeria wud benefit most in d long run if trade is improvd bw any African country....Piece of Advice: if you are ignorant of a tin, then dont Shout in public |
Lagos State judiciary seemd to be the most developd in d country...pretty impressive |
chucky234: Is Nigeria the only country importing rice? Nigeria is not on the list of Thailand's top rice buyers,GEJ should put rice facilities in place before stopping the importation of rice.so you do not know dat Nigeria is the 2nd largest importer( i wud nt be surprisd if it now 1st) importer of rice in d world, eh Chucki?this is for a country dat all its regions can produce various varieties of rice....you did read from d speech dat 13 new mills hv bn built in d last yr( or you thought that was a fluck )? Do you kw dat you can nw import rice processing equipments duty and vat free? Stay there and complain while smart ppl( unfortunately including Foreigners) are taking advantage of rising opportunities |
packman: [size=40pt]INCAPABLE GEJ SAYING INPORTING OF RICE IS UNACCEPTABLE WAT RUBBISHYou are an eediot and a complete ignoranti for writing d above. If you know you dont hv a clue wot hv bn done( and wot is still bn done) so far in d Rice sector, then SHUT ya Mouth |
Who are these gunmen if not d 'ordinary' ppl in dat area? If the security agents kill any of them now sm ppl wud be shouting that they hv killd 'innocent' civilians.. Kano residents need to do more to provide info so as to avoid 'mistaken' identity, if they kw wot i mean....DISCLAIMER: I urge d security agents to remain professional and avoid killing real innocent ppl as they WIPE OUT d terroists. |
Una no dey tire to dey complain? Uba's case and the odas wud most probably be stuck in d courts, just as d cases of virulent critics of govt Tinubu and elRufai has also be stuck for about 3 yrs, not really cos of insufficient will(although dat one join too) but mostly cos of d kind of judicial system we have. The best way to quickly go round this is to eida create Special Courts or Judges for only corruptn cases. Virtually everyone who mata, including d President, hv urge d CJN to name dese judges; and whilst she promisd to do so over 3months ago, no such judges hv bn named. Instead of coming online and JUST complaining almost as 'hopeless' peeps while not put sm pressure on d CJN to fulfil her promise and name d judges( abi e hard to do?), this wud ensure that cases wud hv to be completed within a year instead of the 'eternity' it tks presently.....stop bn mere NOISEMAKERS and a typical 'mouthful' Nigerian( which is so annoying) and DO SOMETHING |
