Beaf: When someone starts a topic with "clueless id!ots," you sort of catch on the the person is the id!ot.
Power to light homes accounts for 80% of domestic energy usage (I guess the id!ot OP thinks its his plasma TV tho). It is elementary math that energy saving bulbs which use much less power would do what the makers say on the tin, phucking save energy. Its like 2 + 2, but that evidently too hard for some mannerless people.

When people rush out foolishly in public, without any facts or figures at hand, you know they are id!ots. cool
Are you the one paying?
Provide the power first; he that consumes, shall pay!
Talking about energy saving bulbs when you have not seen light for weeks is sheer stewpidity, to say the least.
..... $15 Billion was spent on power, and you are saying this? SMH

omosexy1: I am indeed happy that this forum is back to live. Please it should continue this way. I have been interested in esoteric teaching for a while, it fascinate me. However, I have delayed so much to join AMORC, but I am glad to have made payment (finally) and awaiting my monographs and other materials. I have heard about some many negative things about AMORC, even I am losing a relationship because of this but it wont stop me. Out of curiosity I am going to join. I pray it becomes the best decision I have ever made in my life. Active members can share experience (although I hear its personal), it may convince a lot of people like me to stay strong.
Very happy for you, really happy. Though some people(may be because of ignorance) view Mysticism (whether AMORC or others) as a 'demonic' undertaking; many other sincere seekers have extremely benefited from the Rosicrucian Teaching. It all boils down to 'WHY' do you want to embark on this path of enlightenment? "OUT OF CURIOSITY"?
With due respect and utmost humility, I don't think (personally of course) that any venture one embarks upon 'out of curiosity' will come to its utmost fruition. Myself, when I was still in UI, researched and researched and researched for 3 yrs about AMORC before I venture on this journey that has changed my life in all ramifications. Although like you, I have always been interested in mystical and esoteric works.
But today, I can proudly say that being a Rosicrucian (AMORC), is the best decision I have ever made in my whole life.(Coincidentally, most fraters do affirm so).
I told my GF about my affiliation with AMORC, she was sceptical at first; but later, everything normalised. WHY? Because, according to her; "it seems that those unna people don change you to beta person".
It is not a day journey, but the goal is worth it.
I wish you all the possible best in this journey.
gst101: @tchaik, i am not saying that amorc worships a diff god. Remember i said something about ''if this is true'' and ''or is there something i am missing''. I did not conclude on anything

and how are we to know when the bible is being allegorical and when its not?

If god is to be understood relatively it means that our idea of god will be diff. And if that is the case, then organizations including AMORC will have no reason for their existence! Since organizations constitute people of the same believe dont you think.
Thank you so much. Before I proceed, please let me make it clear that anything said on this thread is the personal ideas of the poster; and NOT the official position of the Rosicrucian Order,AMORC.
@gst101, I am not claiming to be a 'chairman' in esoteric/mystical issues, I am still a student(and Shall continue to be).
But you seem not to see where I am coming from. One criterion of becoming a member of AMORC is belief in the Supreme Being! WHY? Because we ve different religious backgrounds and orientation, and imposing anybody's faith/religion to another will not achieve anything for anybody. But you have not answered my question: WHAT IS YOUR OWN PERSONAL IDEA/BELIEF/DEFINITION OF GOD?
It was my quest to answer this question that led me to AMORC, and will forever be grateful to the pastor that asked me the question in the first place.
We don't worship different 'GOD', we 'worship' the 'GOD' of our hearts. And what did I mean by that?
Many folks of different backgrounds (religious wise) belong to the Order, now are you going to teach them this or the other faith's belief/perception of 'GOD'. Will you even teach a Muslim/Buddhist using the nomenclature 'GOD'?
Rosicrucians worldwide have the same belief, and that is in the 'GOD' of your heart and realisation; and also of the faith in Peace Profound (amongst others). But wait a minute,do you honestly think everybody has the same definition about God? That was why I asked you of what your heart tells you of GOD.
On the allegorical nature of the Holy Bible, I think a theologian will do better justice to that.

Let me stop here, but I will gratefully welcome any correction/suggestions.
@Matthew 7:1 and CogitoErgo where you at? Any opinion?

gst101: when i look at materials of your order, i see the hieroglyphics and other egyptian painting. This makes me to think that the egyptians were rosicrucians in one way or the other.

If this is true, and god, when he was taking the hebrews out of egypt, drowned the egyptians and their rosicrucian teachings in the sea. Can we then say that yahweh is not the god in your order and that yahweh is superior tothe god in your order or is there something i am missing here?
There is only one 'GOD'(feel free to use your own nomenclature); the 'GOD' of our hearts and realisation.
Have you ever thought of what or whom you personally think 'GOD' is? By this, I don't mean what Pope, Bishop, Iman, Pastor, chief Priest, Alfa, Rabbi etc tells you about; but what is your own perception of the divine?
Or do you still believe in others pre-conceptions of 'GoD'?
It might interest you to know that many teachings in the Bible (if not all), are allegorical. How and who interpretes them matter a lot.
The most important thing is : Did you get the message?
Corrections will be appreciated.

PoliticsRe: Boko Haram Claims Thisday Bombings And Says Punch, Vanguard, Daily Trust And VOA by tchaik(m): 11:00pm On May 01, 2012
Nigeria’s radical Boko Haram sect has once again claimed responsibility for the coordinated bomb attacks on Nigerian leading newspaper, This Day, and has threatened more attacks on other newspaper houses, who they claim have been the bearer of false reports about the sect’s activities.

In a new 18-minute video message posted on YouTube today, a purported spokesman for the sect said the attack on Thisday newspapers was in connection to a controversial op-ed article published by the paper during the beauty pageant that had been scheduled to hold in November 2002.

Unlike other videos in the past, with messages delivered by the sect’s spiritual leader, Imam Abubakar Shekau, this fourth message from the sect simply shows video footage captured by the Premium Times and Channels Television, while a faceless voice delivers the sect’s eerie warning.

Fourteen minutes into the video message, the face of the suicide bomber who attacked Thisday offices in Abuja is revealed. Calm and all smiles, the suicide bomber delivers what is presumably his last message. He is then pictures from across the street, driving a black SUV through the opened gates of the newspaper building.

The impact of the deadly explosion can be seen in the video, reducing the newspaper office to debris and shattering the glass windows off a nearby office building.

Boko Haram reveals that the attack on Thisday papers is only the first in a three-part attack on news media houses in Nigeria. According to the video message, Thisday is still a target for the sect. The paper is accused of being at the forefront of publishing erroneous articles about the sect, the message said.

The sect has reportedly been planning its attack on Thisday since 2002, when opinion writer, Isioma Daniel, published her controversial article about a beauty pageant scheduled to hold in mostly Muslim Kaduna state.

Daniel’s article contained disparaging comments about Islam’s Prophet Mohammed and made her a target. She has since fled to Norway and is yet to return to Nigeria, even after some Muslim leaders declared she was forgiven.

In the video message, the sect assured that the reporter is far from forgiven. The sect, in the message, threatened to kill her on sight.

Boko Haram further stated that they attacked Thisday for several false reports about the sect that the paper published.

They strongly denied claims that they were behind the Sokoto kidnapping of British and Italian expats, Chris McManus and Franco Lamolinara, both of whom were shot dead in the middle of a failed rescue attempt by combined British and Nigerian forces.

Boko Haram, while approving of the end result, denied reports published by Thisday and other media outlets, which said they were behind the kidnapping.

The sect also faulted the paper with the misinterpretation of its last video message, denying that they threatened to “devour” Jonathan’s administration in three months.

Boko Haram also denied reports, published in several media outlets, including Thisday, that they were behind the murder of Abul Qaqa’s father. The sect, who still insist that their spokesman Abul Qaqa is not in SSS custody, contrary to reports, said they had no hand the killing of Qaqa’s father.

For these listed reasons, the sect says, they will continue their attacks on Thisday newspapers.

The threats don’t stop there

According to translations of the video message, delivered in Hausa language, the sect is planning a second and third phase of attacks that will target other major newspaper houses.

The second phase of attacks, the message stated, will target Punch, Vanguard, the Nation, Daily Sun, National Accord and Voice of America Hausa.

Boko Haram also has a third group of papers in its cross hairs. They include – Leadership, Daily Trust and Radio France International. It added, however, that the third group could escape attacks if they remained neutral in their reports.

The sect also issued a warning to whistleblowing website, Sahara Reporters. It said the online news and opinion writers are known to give non-believers a platform to write articles that discredit Islam.

The warnings come after a spate of deadly attacks by the sect has gridlocked the nation in fear and uncertainty.

Boko Haram has waged an increasingly violent war on peace and security in Africa’s most populous nation. The recent wave of attacks in the past few days has claimed over 30 lives, bringing the death toll from Boko Haram violence to over 300 in 2012 alone.

Christianity EtcRe: "POVERTY" Is A Choice, True Or False? by tchaik(m): 2:28am On May 01, 2012
PapaBrowne: I think more than a choice, Poverty is a state of mind influenced by the choices we have made over time.
Let me use what I will describe as the PawPaw Theory to explain why I think poverty has to do with the choices we make.

Let me start with an illustration in the form of a story.

Two fellows, poor and hungry bricklayers, living in Lagos were given a large Pawpaw fruit each.
One of them(Lets call him John) looked at the fruit and said, HA thank God, this PawPaw go quench my hunger. So he ate the fruit and threw the seeds away.
The other(Lets call him Jerry) looked at it and saw something different. He saw a plantation. A massive plantation. So he ate the fruit and kept the seeds.

A few statistics about PawPaw before I proceed with my story.

*A pawpaw fruit has about 500 seeds on average.
*It starts producing fruit after the 1st year and does so for 3 more years
*Each tree produces on average 20 harvestable fruits a year.
*Average price of pawpaw in Nigeria is 150-250 Naira.

Next day, John and Jerry go to work. They are paid 1000 naira each for that day's Job.
John buys himself enough beans and Garri to last him for one week.
Jerry on the other hand, buys a Hoe and uses the rest to pay transport back to his village- PawPaw seeds in hand!

500 pawpaw seeds planted grew to 500 pawpaw trees.
In one year, the trees produced 500 x 20= 10,000 pawpaw Fruits.
He harvested all, but kept fresh seeds from 200 fruits for planting in the next year.
200 x 500 = 100,000 seeds.

He sold 9000 fruits at wholesale for 70 Naira each.
He made a cool 630,000 Naira in the first year.

He took more land and planted his 100,000 seeds.
These new trees produces 100,000 x 20 = 2 million pawpaw fruits.

He harvested all 2 million fruits and sold wholesale for 20 Naira each.
He made a whooping 40 Million Naira in the second year!!

John on the other hand was still bricklaying in Lagos and buying Beans and Garri for the week anytime he is paid 1000 Naira.
John is waiting for Government to improve his life.
Jerry on the other hand has improved his life and he would employ hundreds of villagers to harvest his pawpaw. His Pawpaw is in high demand and foreing companies are beginning to make inquires. So he plants more and more and gets more and more money!!

All Jerry did was to make a better choice than John.
There is this story that goes thus: A white man came to a remote riverine village in South-South Nigeria for vacation. One fateful day, the white man went to the river with his camera, and as he was snapping shots after shots, he noticed a boat in the middle of the river. Inside the boat, lay a fisherman, with his straw hat covering his face, and a little transistor radio was playing a local tune.
The bewildered white looked at his wrist watch and saw the time was 11.30am; not even noon yet.
The white man asked why the fisherman was relaxing like that at his 'work place'? No one was able to answer the question.
So, the inquisitive oyibo hired a boat and paddled to where the fisherman was relaxing. After exchanging pleasantries, these conversations went on between the duo:
White man: "Why were you relaxing like that when you have fishes to catch"?
Fisherman: (confused) "And when I catch 'em fishes what will happen"?
White man: "you can sell them, then use the proceeds to support your trade"
Fisherman: "And then?"
White man: " You can buy more nets, lines and hooks, and if possible buy another canoe"
Fisherman: "And then?"
White man: " You can then employ people to be fishing for you; you can even use the extra income to buy a big boat/trawler for your business."
Fisherman:"And then?"
White man: " By then you don't have to be fishing again; hired hands will be doing the work for you"
Fisherman: " And then?"
White man: " You then have time to relax and enjoy your life"
The fisherman shook his head and replied the beaming White man; "Must I go through all these just to have the same relaxation I am having now?

LESSON: Not everybody wants a Rolls; some folks will prefer motocycle to a BMW. (And I have seen such)
RESPECT!!
