PoliticsRe: Electoral Bill: Fresh Controversy As Senate, Reps Approve Different Versions by teepain: 8:00am On Jan 20, 2022
atepomma:
Have you ever imagined anything worse than voting for Buhari? The answer will be voting for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Be wise. Another mistake will be another almost ten years of your life wasted.
Please channel the energy you use in mentioning Tinubu to market your candidate. This strategy of trying to demarket him might not work.

There were lots of media attacks on Buhari before he became the President but I think those attacks and demarketing efforts only made Buhari more popular.

Please, the voting populace needs to know about the alternative candidates and their pedigrees.

Many Nigerians do have a firmer grasp of the language than you would ever have if you had another lifetime. Certainly most Nigerians have a better grasp than Klopp and his watery defence at the time was his poor English
The claim of irony is unpersuasive and debatable. Not being persuaded is nothing to do with the language. Do not project your inadequate feelings on to "most Nigerians"
I agree with you that ignorance is dangerous this is particularly the case when it travels with an inflated and delusional sense of self
I crave your indulgence to co-sign this fine piece authored by you. I couldn't have said it better. Kudos.
PoliticsRe: Kaduna Removes Friday As A Working Day To Enable Workers Do Other Things by teepain: 8:28am On Jan 11, 2022
This is the reason why people are clamouring for fiscal federalism - let each state control whatever they generate and pay a percentage to the FG.

Not this one that some states would be productive for 4 days and some will be productive for 5 or more days and the FG would now share (allocate) funds to them regardless of their respective productivities.

As soon as there is fiscal federalism, any state that wishes can implement 2 working days per week.

Selective exploration is usually adopted in taken care of security challenges in order to avoid being charged with genocide but with the groups been declared terrorists the armed forces can now use maximum force without fear or favour.
My brother please don't defend the indefensible: as early as 2015 the Global terrorism index already classified these bandits as the 4th deadliest terrorist group (See the attached image).

Beyond military attacks on these criminals, did we need to wait for the bandits to be declared terrorists before we can successfully prosecute any of them that had been caught? Have you ever heard of any successful prosecution of any of them regardless of all their crimes against humanity!

I hate to say this but it would appear as if the government of the day only woke up to this menace when the bandits started attacking the Northerners - especially the elite. Perhaps, the President and his military chiefs believed everything was okay as long as only Southerners were targeted by the bandits.

The truth is that Mr President is too clannish and tribal!

PoliticsRe: Lucky Irabor: With Bandits Now Declared Terrorists, We’ll Give Them Bloody Nose by teepain: 8:03am On Jan 11, 2022
Mad people everywhere. After giving them bloody noses, find a way to bring back to life all the innocent people that have been killed by the bandits.

For close to 7 years they just thought it fit to designate bandits as terrorists! Incompetent lots.

I refer to the part of your post in emphasis (read bold face) and find it contradictory and not extenuating enough to absolve the wife of any blame.

By that statement, you admitted that his wife knew salt was bad for the mother in law but she didn't bother to care about how bad it could be! I am hoping that I read you wrong and I am seeking for clarifications. Thanks.

PoliticsRe: Niger Delta Militants, Oil Prices Affected My Performance: Buhari by teepain:
This man should just keep quiet. His incompetence is not excusable. I usually refrain from giving opinions on the performance of Presidents until their tenures are almost over like in this case.

Posterity will not be fair to this man. While one concedes that PMB's tenure suffered some revenue handicaps he has borrowed to make up for those revenue shortfalls. He has been too parochial in being an ethnic champion. His fight against corruption has neither been here nor there. The insecurity and needless loss of lives all over the country is demeaning of a General worth his rank.

His penchant for treating Nigerians with disdain is annoying. How could you be humble to go and solicit for votes but refuse to communicate to the people who elected you?!

Except for some capital projects like railway, roads, this government has failed the people. The electorates should remember that some of the appointees in this government should never be allowed to get into government again.
PoliticsRe: Sylvester: I Will Sue Falana And Oromoni Family For Damages – Kemi Olunloyo by teepain: 5:02am On Dec 20, 2021
BluntTheApostle:
The point you are missing is that if this was a cult initiation gone wrong, then it may not fly as a murder case.

Motive is very important.

If it can be established that it was an initiation gone wrong, then how can you say the motive of the suspects was to murder Sylvester?

Their motive would be certainly to merely initiate him, not to MURDER him.
I perfectly understand your point. And I do understand the kite that the defence counsels and parents of the accused students are flying.

I can see that they are preparing the ground for a general defence hoping to build their case around "consent defence" otherwise known as the defence of volenti non fit injuria.

However, for the defence of volenti non fit injuria to succeed the act of the defendants must not be unlawful or illegal. Hence, the court will have to decide if the actions of the young men at initiating Sylvester into a secret cult was lawful.

Again, if the reported news of Sylvester having earlier reported the some of the boys for bullying is anything to go by, then it may be argued by prosecution that his earlier report signified lack of consent.

May justice be done in any case.

You're trying to sound smart but you're not.

Is cultism an organisation, if no, why then should a document not recognised by the constitution or law of the federal republic give the prerogative of his murder to the suspects

Be critical in your thinking.
Like seriously, I don't understand the ranting of those supporting Kemi's argument. So, if someone agrees that a person should kill him or her, then the would-be killer can escape culpability by pleading that the person signed a document agreeing to be killed? That is some stupid argument from Kemi and her crew.

Looks like the efcc under the current chairman is becoming lawless. It is even saddening that the Chairman is a young man with some decent kind of education.

Hence one would have expected some level of modern, scientific and civil approach in the investigations handled by the EFCC but hell no; what we have are cases of operatives breaking into homes and hotels and presuming citizens guilty before fishing for evidences.

Go all round the country the youths are the ones killing and extorting the other youths. Whether it is the policemen, SARS or EFCC!

Why don't you guys leave all these postulations. The man Tinubu will run with his resources against Atiku or any other candidate; if he loses it will be his own loss. So, you and I should focus on promoting our candidates and not bother about whether Tinubu will lose or not.

We have not escaped the stupid P&ID case where nothing was sold but Nigeria is asked to pay billions of dollars and you want government to cancel a sale that's over 10 years
Read my post again and you will see that I mentioned the huge penalty cost of terminating the contract.

My post is a response to a poster who wondered why FG hasn't terminated the contracts of the Discos and Gencos. In response to him, I conceded that contract termination is a possibility and pointed out to him the huge liability in penalty fees that will arise. So I wonder and ask you to point out to me where you arrived at your conclusion that I wanted "government to cancel a sale that is over 10 years" according to you.

While atiku was responsible for the privatisation process under Obasanjo the unbundling of phcn into discos and gencos took place under GEJ and by then atiku was out of power.

( Though atiku is alleged to own a stake in one of the discos. )
I am very much aware that the unbundling of PHCN into Discos and Gencos took place under GEJ. However, I singled out Atiku because the unbundling was in furtherance of the crazy privatization process of national assets which were often sold at undervalued costs.

mcquin:
Will the government fold up if it decides to reverse the privatization exercise?
This is an option but it will cost Government a lot of money to reverse the privatization because of the contractual clauses that were included to discourage such.

The powerful people who bought NEPA (as it then was known) only did so to continue the milking of Nigerians.

It will take the Grace of God to get out of the clutches of this wicked and exploitative bunch.

People can see APC government we voted for change. People who are already buying their poles, cables and transformer would now again get loan from government to by meters. Why are people pretending they fear God
Please this is not about APC or PDP and it shouldn't be.

One of the things I hold against Atiku is the fact that he supervised the sale of national assets such as NEPA to his cronies on terms that are favourable to them and unfavourable to the Nigerian masses.

The legal framework for the sale of NEPA already specified the interval of review of tarrifs.

While FG can opt out of this contract, it would cost the country a lot because the hyenas who bought NEPA already included penalty clauses for that.

Osinbajo has been Buhari's vice for the past six years. He is as guilty as his boss for the unprecedented hardship Nigerians have been subjected to.

This rudderless government that have borrowed away the present and is not relenting until the future is put in the bondage of debt should not be allowed to self succeed.

If Osinbajo has the magic wand, he should have wielded it since
You and I know that no VP has the power to wield any magic in Nigeria except his principal - the President - allows that. The power dynamics of Nigeria does not allow that.

Have you ever wondered why Buhari has not been handing power officially to Osinbajo since the Daura's (DSS DG) sack and Onnoghen's confirmation as CJN by the VP in his capacity as Acting President.

You are really dumb, 80% of the things you mentioned here are not to be mentioned as national achievements. Imagine Obama will be mentioning payment of staff salaries as an achievements. Who do black this one.
Even though some things mentioned in the list are not worthy to be called achievements and it is safe to say that Buhari failed on many fronts.

However, for the sake of objectivity and balance kudos to him for bailing out the state governments who were owing civil servants' salary since the dwindling revenue under GEJ. Again, kudos to him for providing gratuities to ex Nitel's and Nigeria Airways' former employees. Paying the ex-Biafra soldiers was another step in the right direction.

All the other stuffs are not worthy to be called achievements. Meanwhile, Buhari needs to sit up as his regime comes to an end in 2003.

Federal Government pays Salary of Army, police, etc

But the person or state the Army or police are actually working for will be paying them Allowance

So, in this case, while FG pays basic salary, Ondo State is expected to pay Allowance and provide operational logistics.
The arrangement you described is fraught with a lot of irregularities.

The FG should allow state policing or fully fund the security agents on it's payroll. Why ask the Governor's to provide allowances to the personnel that are controlled by the FG?
