Femi Osibona is the owner of the building and he developed luxurious properties in the UK, U.S, South Africa etc before coming to Nigeria. He had a couple of partners in the diaspora.

Some registered Estate Surveyors are the ones making things harder. I wanted to get 3bed flat, and the rent was 600k. The agent in charge wants to collect 120k for Agency Fee, 120k for Agreement, and 50k for Caution Fee. I was furious, and I asked why this unnecessary payment, it should be 10% for agreement and agency fee, then caution fee negotiable. I was told a reputable law firm in charge of the building is the one collecting such. Asking for a breakdown, I was told is 10% which is 60k, but they are collecting in 2years, that's why it's 120k.

I left that angrily, getting another apartment, same 3bed, the agent demanded 100k agreement, 100k agency and 100k caution for 850k yearly rent.

All these house agents and lawyers in charge of buildings are really making things difficult, and they don't care.

Until the government enacts a law that criminalises the practice of agents charging fees above a percentage, this unholy practice will continue.

Unfortunately, this exploitation of prospective tenants is major driver of inflation in this country. The market is the most intelligent system; once one person tries to exploit it, it adjusts itself and the price of other products.

For the sake of clarity, I am a Southwesterner and no apologies about that.

That said, it is a bit difficult for me to understand how the Southwest betrayed Jonathan.

The following facts negate that submission:

1. The Southwesterners were at the forefront of the clamour to have Jonathan take over after the rumoured death of Yaradua. Tunde Bakare, Soyinka, Odumakin and OBJ played vital roles.

2. In 2015 GEJ won all the states in the Southwest with the exception of Osun state.

3. In the 2019 Presidential election, PDP narrowly lost the Southwest to APC because the Southwesterners that the PDP relied on were not well grounded in the politics of the region and relied solely on the Federal might and the power of the dollars.

4. The other factor was that the Southwest was alienated by PDP denying Southwest the opportunity of producing the party's Chairman. This led to Prof Tunde Adeniran, Segun Oni and others quitting the party whilst those that stayed back did so grudgingly.

Despite the misgivings occasioned by point 4 above, PDP/ Atiku still posted a decent outing in the Southwest.

Perhaps, what broke the camel's back for Atiku majorly was the decision of some parts of the country to boycott the election. Maybe, if elections were not boycotted in those places, Atiku might have won because these were PDP's supposed stronghold.

If we assume that Nigerians voted Buhari into power to replace Fani Kayode and his ilk, does it bode well for the country and her citizens when the party in power brings back such people in whom the people, supposedly, have passed a vote of no confidence.

The idea is that the economic less-viable states should rather be challenged to bring to the front burner their economic comparative advantages instead of complaining about being threatened (even as a consumer based economy)!

Each of the regions can survive independently. These leaders lacking in intellect and administrative creativity are the problem.

The Eastern, Western and Northern regions were doing well back in the days. With her Cocoa industry, the western region developed the first television station in Africa and other firsts.

Were it not for the madness of this unitary system of government that was introduced by leeches, the independent regions would have been more developed than we are.

The Eastern part of the country would have been fine with the technical and trading competences of her citizens; the western part would have done well for herself with Agriculture and administrative gift of her human resources and the Northern part would have been more than okay with her Agriculture and leather industry.

Sadly, the exploration of crude oil introduced laziness and almajiri kind of system into governance where Governors go cap in hand to beg for handouts from the Federal Government. A South-Eastern leader of opinion called it "feeding bottle" economics and the description is very fitting.

Zamfara shouldn't shock anyone. The state is a very unproductive state and very poorly governed such that you have some of the poorest Nigerians from that axis.

Because the state gets so much allocation from FG without any meaningful contribution the Governors of the state steals as much as they can and then devised the Sharia law to suppress and repress the citizens from the State. Read about the escapades of the former Governor (Sani Ahmed Yerima).
