Politics › Re: Defending Naira: A Patrotic Initiative By CBN by telleyway: 10:55pm On Apr 18, 2024 |
Validated: I am obidient in heart and action. I believe that Nigeria should be greater that what it is now and the potential is very much there. That I criticize Tinubu does not mean I should not applaud good initiative. Nigeria is the only country we have. Tinubu will leave one day, but Nigeria will remain.
I for one never supported floating the Naira. It was a dumb move. What was required was for the government to do away wiyh multiple exchange rates created by Buhari for his cronies to to steal and shortchange us.
If CBN is using our reserves to defend the Naira, I support them to continue to do that but also look at policies that would discourage politicians and thieves from milking the economy through forex hoarding. Infact, the CBN should implement stringent measures that would reduce "forex trading" on our streets. Why would an able-bodied Nigerian be trading in currency when he ought to be in the farm?
Every BDC should be made to have a capital base of not less than $10m or Naira equivalent and a security deposit of same amount with the CBN. Thereafter, currency trading on the streets by unregistered entities, individuals, etc should be treated as economic sabotage with punishment ranging from 2-5 years without option of fine.
That said, patriotism does not mean we should applaud all government actions even when they are inimical to national progress, the more reason some of us opposed the idea of floating the Naira. If the government did not heed the warning when it did, by today the $ would have reached N2500. Yet, the defenders who now chide some of us would still have been defending government's irrational policies. Defending the naira is not the problem, but people that think they know all are doing it underground but denying. You can not use a country's economy like ours to do litmus test. |

reccy: No living being can be said to be a paragon, we all portrayed imperfections in our respective endeavours; reason why no human can verily has 100% scorecard most specifically in the leadership realm.
I stand to be corrected with facts if the above submission goes contrary to reality of life. But when we have reasonable percentage of responsiveness, we accolade and give kudos! Yahaya Bello falls under this. His journey as a governor was fruitful and impactful.
Hitherto to his emergence, the state was mar with deficiencies starting from disunity, inequitable distribution of state resources, insecurity, Infrastructural deficit, poor social amenities, worker's welfare and political imbalance.
The above stated challenges was tackled by Yahaya Bello's government. painstakingly, I can say that the only one he couldn't arrest was the issue of worker's welfare (Local Government/primary school workers). Beyond this, I think Bello deserves the appraisal of every kogites for his giant strides and monumental imprint in the confluence state.
I challenge any one who hadn't been in kogi for the last 9years to do so. He will be astonished — And give a verdict that will be in agreement to my position. The threshold of a good, responsible and responsive leader has long been reached by the man I do called the political leader of the contemporary kogi.
The brouhaha that surrounded his witch-hunt is traceable to the discord between the Central part of the State and the Eastern extraction who are primarily claiming right of entitlement to the leadership of the state.
Prior to the gubernatorial elections, some political actors from the opposition indulged in campaign of columny, and successfully divided the state along ethnic lines — I do refer to them as tribal bigots with shallow progressive minds.
This move which has a hidden motive of gaining political ground ahead of the election couldn't see the light of the day as "Kogi Agenda" was cherished and accepted by patriotic indegenes who want the best for our dear state.
This, cum tussles of supremacy in the political spheres both within and outside the are what is playing out currently, and EFCC happens to be tools they are using to fight — He will be exonerated and come out stronger like never before!
Bello runs a prudent, transparent and all inclusive government devoid of sentiments. He entrench peace and unity amongst the three major tribes in Kogi State. He set pace for standard — Kogi is on a map of prosperity.
Probing Yahaya Bello is allowed, but let the status quo be followed. let it not appeared to be political witch-hunt because kogites will ultimately and continually resist that attempt.
Yahaya Bello break the jinx of political slavery in Kogi State. He's our hero, and we hold him in the highest esteem. come what may, I believe his political trajectory has just begun. He wil rise and keep rising in the leadership cycle of this country.
Comr. Jegede Onotu Abdulazeeze Write from Lokoja Nigerian youths are indeed very lazy and useless. How can at this era where every information you want is in the public domain, someone facing his keyboard assumes others are fools? Is it the the 10% salary payment to civil servants that's the new dimension he brought in the state? A tribal bigot that you are, you want the whole world to journey with you along that part but you forgot to tell us vital information: Who's more connected to the center at the moment in kogi State than Bello? Is it Ododo his stooge? Maybe. You should be more patriotic or brotherly to tell him to go clear his name and stand even taller than you portrayed him. |

PointZerom: As the global Muslim Ummah celebrates Eid-al-Fitr tomorrow, I join them to give thanks to almighty God for a successful Ramadan fast. We pray that the almighty answers their prayers and that the spiritual benefits of the just concluded holy period of abstinence extend in the lives of the believers until the next Ramadan.
I specifically want to celebrate non-Muslims, especially people of the Book, who gave the right hand of fellowship to the Ummah during this sacred period. Worthy of special mention is former Governor Peter Obi of Anambra, who broke fast with the Muʾmin, and endowed several Muslim communities with public utilities, such as boreholes. There is time for politics and time for healing. Now is the time for healing. And we pray that his supporters will not frustrate the healing process that this great man has begun.
When I visited the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, I found an ayat of al-Quran at Ain Musa, which said in Arabic that God made every living thing from water.
Therefore, in giving water to these communities, Mr. Obi gave life and should be commended for promoting peaceful religious coexistence and increasing the quality of life of drops in the body of water that is humanity.
We thank God who has brought us to this Eid and pray that He will bring us to the next one, better in every respect than we are today. May this Eid bring peace, progress and prosperity to everyone who loves the Ummah and may God the Merciful and Compassionate One bring peace to the people of Palestine.
To you and your friends and families, I wish all pleasant celebrations. Eid Mubarak. Barka da Sallah. Happy holidays.

Kosiso12: “Tinubu’s govt inherited the worst economic challenges so far in Nigeria’s history” – APC senator
The Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District in the Nigerian Senate, Sunday Karimi, has declared that the Bola Tinubu-led administration inherited the worst economic challenges in Nigeria’s history.
Karimi stated this while speaking at the maiden edition of Igbaruku Day organised by the Igbaruku-Okeri Community Development Association (ICDA) in Igbaruku-Okeri, Yagba West Local Council, Kogi State, yesterday.
His words: “The administration inherited the worst economic challenges so far in the anal of the country. The President’s long-term vision, driven by proactive policy towards achieving sustainable economic recovery, is slowly yielding fruits.
“The government of President Tinubu inherited a bad, in fact the worst situation, so far. Tinubu met the average gross domestic product (GDP) growth rate of 1.8 percent. The four years average preceding the administration of Tinubu was 15.1 percent.
“Nigeria was so bad that government printed money without activities to back it up. It is still our government, the All Progressives Congress(APC). We admit that. Nigerian Naira was almost turned to paper, where one US Dollar equated to N1,900, but the Tinubu’s government is not resting on its oars.
“It is working tirelessly every day to find solutions to the problems. Today, one Dollar equals N1,300. Port Harcourt refinery is back; Warri refinery is back. With patience with President Tinubu, we will live to see the Nigeria of our dream, in the short-term.”
He, therefore, pleaded with Nigerians to exercise patience with the administration.
Source : https://politicsnigeria.com/tinubus-govt-inherited-the-worst-economic-challenges-so-far-in-nigerias-history-apc-senator/ This is one of the most stupid, senseless and baseless statement of the year. The same people that were hailing buhari to high heavens are the ones saying Tinubu inherited the worst economy from who? When Buhari took over from Jonathan, APC said four years was not enough to clean PDP's rot of sixteen years. Now it's taking eternity to clean Tinubu's ten months recklessness. Jonathan handed over to Buhari (APC) the fastest growing economy of the time. Buhari (APC) handed over to Tinubu (APC) the worst economy in the world according to APC. Now they are using the dollar to show that Tinubu is working, the same dollar he took from #400 and can't bring it back even to #1000. Yet they want you to celebrate that dollar moved from #2000 to #1300. |
