harakiri:This isn't a sensible argument. The iPad is not a phone, and should not be compared in any way to a BB. Apple has never intended the iPad to be put in your pocket. |
truly:Coming out for one day a week to trade in a quiet street is VERY different from permanently placing shops without Government permit. |
How can some of you people be insisting that Government compensates people who have been selling from such illegal markets? With what does the government compensate these people? Our Taxpayers' monies? Utter rubbish. The people were warned, let them vent their anger on their union. |
shawn123:Where is the skype on Blackberry? Go over to the skype forums and see users begging them to release a version for blackberry that can allow calls. Every other phone OS has a full featured skype client. Almost every single app on Blackberry has its counterpart on other phone OSes - the blackberry versions are just plain uglier! Please don't get me laughing about your '24/7 internet'. I own a Blackberry Bold 9700 (arguably the best BB in existence) and the default browser is extremely horrrible! I also use an iPhone, and coming from that sleek device with it's lovely and intuitive UI and splendid web browser, browsing on the Bold is a rude shock. The Blackberry service and BBM is the killer app on the device, and that's the sole reason i keep my Bold 9700. But apart from these, what's left is a dated UI with a terrible web browser, crappy third party applications and minimal developer support. It is telling that a phone marketed as a business companion cannot even open PDF files by default. I found that out the hard way. |
kosovo:The 30% figure (which is mere conjecture by the way) refers to CPU usage. What kind of man compares CPU usage with memory usage?! Kosovo, you really should be ashamed of yourself for that brainless comparison. You're showing everyone here that you just do not understand technology. kosovo:3 DVDs is not equal to one Blu-Ray. And most of the issues with the port to the Xbox 360 were with compressed audio and video. All other visual issues were due to Square Enix not having enough time to fit the PS3 Optimized Crystal Engine to the 360's architecture. Why make a big deal out of the superiority of the pS3 version over the 360's version? Why did you keep mute when the clear consensus was that Bayonetta on 360 was markedly superior to that on the PS3? |
justkunmi:To install Appworld, here's a link you can use Download it http:///AppWorld OTA You won't be able to see paid apps though, only free ones. And no offense, but the browsing experience on the Storm 2 series is mediocre. |
So now we know Vowiski is a scammer. Nationalclaimsoffice as a username can only mean one thing. |
Afam:Nobody said the guns used were sophisticated assault rifles. Nigerian blacksmiths have been making locally made guns for over 50 years now. There's no indication that any overly sophisticated attack plan was used. Nigerian tribes were fighting wars 400 years ago, it doesn't take a millitary mastermind to cook up a plan to sneak around static army locations and attack a defenseless village. It all still boils down to religion at the end of the day. And i agree with you on the arrest and execution of the sponsors and the actual killers. The main issue is that every single time this happens, the Government fails to make an example of the culprits. Enough is enough, we don't need any panel. What we need is JUSTICE! Afam:The deaths of hundreds of women and children is in no way 'interesting' or 'justice'. |
naijaking1:You just had to sneak in this part, didn't you? To be fair, you may also want to add the number of Nigerians killed in the South in reprisal attacks. |
serious are u kidding? the iphone OS is one of the smallest files u can download, are u using dial-up in some God forsaken place?
It's well over 150MB. That isn't small based on the average Naija internet connection. |
sjeezy8:And where did you get this from? |
oyb:lol. I'm told that hanging a flash drive around your neck in Benin is tantamount to asking a nearby policeman to arrest you on suspicion of 419 ![]() |
@Kosovo This is a public forum, and it is accessible to minors. I strongly object to the posting of such gruesome photos in the open where anyone can see, |
debosky:Don't be silly. This isn't 'naija mentality'. It's gadget craze, and people around the world are afflicted by it. Why do you think i visit Engadget and Gizmodo (gadget weblogs) at least 5 times daily? |
I've got a BB Bold 9700, and while i acknowledge the Blackberry's excellent communication features, the UI is extremely primitive coming from the iPhone. The browser is horrible, just too horrible for words for someone coming from an iPhone. Gaming is out of the question, and the App world isn't downloadable from Naija. Even if you could get in, the apps there aren't nearly as many or as sophisticated as those on Symbian or the iPhone, and they can be really pricey. The facebook app on the Blackberry is of a far less quality than that on the iPhone. Ditto all the twitter clients I'll keep the Blackberry. It's communication suite is unmatched, but anyone using a Blackberry without a BIS plan has to be insane. |
ElRazur:I'm pretty sure in that situation you'd be far more interested in scanning the surrounding bushes for gunmen instead of reviewing what looked like small logs at first glance. There's a reason why we have street lights on our expressways. Your vehicle lights won't always show the clear picture. |
I've got a Blackberry Bold 9700 as a second phone. It's supposed to be the flagship blackberry, but i'm surprised how primitive the Blackberry OS UI is compared to the iphone's. I'll sign up for the BIS plan, actually i've done the SMS thingy, still waiting for activation. Please don't get me started on how horrible the default browser is. |
4llerbuntu:he's clearly asking for how he can tether his phone to his laptop and use it as a modem to browse. I should have thought that was obvious. Next time, provide constructive answers. |
And why exactly is this in the 'Politics' section? |
cap28:Is that really why you listen to music? Weird. cap28:BWAHAHAHAHA! Yeah, i remember those women shaking their ample backsides in a 'queenly' manner ![]() |
You are so amusing. For providing some much needed comic relief, i'll reward you with an answer cap28:Again another silly assumption. it's amusing to see that you still think the African culture is richer than that of many people of the western world. cap28:I can easily call them old fogies. You know why? Because it's a matter of personal taste and preference. You know the first thing i learnt when growing up? Every human being is different. Appreciating and understanding the differences in others is the first step towards maturity. If you cannot understand that there are people who would much rather listen to Tupac than James Brown, then i'm afraid you're still a child mentally. cap28:Look, if the consumers like it, then it's fine by me. And if it takes no talent to do what these fellows are doing, why arent you out there raking in the cash instead of posting embittered rants on Nairaland? There's a lot more to these people than the flashy showmanship you're complaining about. But you're too blind to see that. Check out my signature below, it describes you completely. Speaking of ignorance, your scathing dismissal of Nigerian videos as being 'pathetic' shows how out of touch you've been with the modern reality. Top Nigerian artistes these days boast relatively good videos. If you're still watching those grainy old vids, you need to get out of the cave you've been inhabiting ASAP. cap28:Yes, o great one. You know all!! /s cap28:Sorry, but there are many extremely powerful black men in the hip hop scene who have full oversight of the music content put out by the many black artistes in the US. Your borderline racism disturbs me slightly. Paired with your ignorance and your love for conspiracy theory, i think it's safe to say you need to take a chill pill and relax. in summary, mon ami, choice is sacred. If the public has voted to have these guys performing this way and putting out this kind of music, why are you up in arms about it? You think i'm happy that Yahooze shot up the charts in a nation struggling with the burden of 419? Nope! Am i thrilled that everyone seems to be using the word 'swagga' these days? Nope? But i have a life. And these things appeal to my fellow Nigerians. You don't see me coming on Nairaland like a douchebag to whine about the 'good ol' days'. I just change the channel or turn on my ipod to hear what i want. But you really amuse me, you supercilious jester. Send me your address and i'll get you an ipod filled with all the oldies you can shake your flaccid member at. That way you won't get your panties in a bunch when next Tuface comes on. Deal? |
@poster Whenever i see this type of topic, i cringe. Rule No 1 of entertainment is to give the public what they want. And the Nigerians of nowadays couldn't care less about the old fogies you're touting as the 'Golden age of music'. If the public wants to see scantily clad ladies, then how is it any issue of yours? Supply will always rise to meet demand, simple as that. cap28:I think their ambition is actually to attain fame, fortune and lots of cute chicks by selling music to an adoring fan base, but who am i to disagree with you? cap28:There are many other ways for people to show pride in their cultural heritage than to make music to appeal to a niche group. That's why 70% of these same artistes you deride sprinkle their verses liberally with yoruba or Igbo. They can easily show their pride in their clothing, their choice of food, even the names they give their kids. Why judge them over one facet of their existence? cap28:I'm pretty sure the part i highlighted in bold is a false assumption. |
phraoh:Was it really that difficult to type this in English? This is why so many of you kids fail English in WAEC or JAMB. |
Double N:The iPad isn't a computer. i'll probably get one. The lack of multitasking may be a pain (until it's jailbroken), but there are sure to be tens of thousands of top notch apps on it. It can provide 10 hours of video on a single charge. How many other consumer devices can churn that out? If the rumours of $1 TV show are true, i can easily grab Heroes from the itunes store ad be completely up-to-date. Plus i can copy my files (PDF, MS Word, Excel) and use as a portable second screen at work. I'd say the ipad didnt live up to all the crazy hype, but it's still a fairly capable device. I'll get one ![]() |
Me sef:I can assure you that anyone making an on-the-spot comparison of your contribution to this topic as against biina's will easily come to the inescapable conclusion that he occupies a far higher rung on the IQ ladder than yourself. I don't know what you mean by 'antagonizing', but biina's restraint has been admirable in this argument. Whether you agree with him or not, i think he is one to watch on nairaland. Me sef:Explain what this means. So if you knew his name and location you'd head over there and beat him abi? |
Me sef:Thank God the people expressing these fears are in the minority. It's equally silly to read ethnic bias into everything. some Northerners say Civil service reforms is Southern agenda against the North some southerners say Banking reforms is Northern agenda against the south. With this kind of bunker mentality, how is Nigeria not going to sink? |
You really should check the prevailing market price before making a sales pitch. You're overpricing the hell out of this handset. |
Fhemmmy:Take care of them romantically and sexually? Yep. financially? not so much |
Fhemmmy:You know, you're 100% right. I never thought of it that way. Everyone knows that women have no money of their own and MUST have a man to spend money on them before they 'have fun'. /sarcasm. |
Why would you want to get only 512MB RAM and tie up a free RAM slot? |
@Poster more details, please. What mac model (laptop or desktop?). any ventilation issues (overheating CAN be an issue)? |
4llerbuntu:Isn't the auto-run feature of the Modem just to check if the software is already installed and then prompt you for the installation if it isnt? I doubt disabling that will have any effect on your connection. If Zain connected and MTN didn't connect, it's very possible it's an MTN network issue. It may be unrelated, but i had data outage yesterday on MTN 3G in Port Harcourt for practically the whole day, it's back now, though. |
