I weep for your definition of professionalism...
Maybe you can ask Chartered Accountants around the world, the purpose of reconciliation and suspense account. Possibility you can ask Professor while significant level for testing hypothesis are not set to 100%. May I ask you if the mobile phone or computer you used in typing this including the solar/electricity power in powering it were made without try and error.

Meanwhile, I remember a quote "if you never make mistake, you have never made a decision". However, there is clear difference between effective planning/decision making in a democratic setting and try & error approach in solving an economic issue.

That's true but the lay off issue is not exclusive to the banking industry. For some reason the media carry mass sacking in the banking industry on their head. You should check out the oil and gas sector, most of the contract staffs have been sacked since while there have been mass sacking in the servicing sectors especially.
In summary, you get sacked in any sector and it's better to apply and even live it up (even if it's for a little while) thus avoiding social vices for now.
Don't forget that unemployment and social vices follow each other.
Thank you for your post. The years spent can not be a waste as it will adds to one post graduate (relevant) experience given one an edge to apply for experienced hired post than pursuing a graduate executive jobs forcing one to be reducing his/her age yearly.
As advised, one need to start planning his/her exit on the day of resumption (for all private businesses) and use part of the savings to further his/her professional and educational qualifications than living a flamboyant life such as investing in expensive car, costly apartment and furniture, etc.

I think I saw something like mortgage on their website but by their license they are licensed as regional commercial bank just like Wema bank. So if their current focus is on mortgage (which I am not sure of), they have the opportunity of expanding and operating like other commercial banks.

PoliticsRe: I Won’t Contribute To School Feeding Programme, Fayose Tells FG by TGM2015: 4:30am On Jun 13, 2016
I really do not understand. FG should feed pupils /students of state schools without counterparts fund from the state? In fact, the feeding program should include all private schools too because the promise is for all Nigerian students and pupils.
So if Federal government promise free education for all, that means the promise automatically MUST include state, local government and private schools because the promise is for ALL?
Hmmmm, Nigerians and our mentality of blind politics.
PoliticsEx-naf Chief Wants Out-of-court Settlement For N7.3bn Fraud Case by TGM2015(op):
A former Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Mohammed Umar (retd.), told a Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday that he had commenced talks with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to settle the money laundering charges preferred against him out of court.

Umar said this through his lawyer, Mr. Hassan Liman (SAN), before Justice Binta Nyako on Tuesday, when trial was scheduled to commence with the EFCC calling its first witness.

The EFCC had on May 11, 2016, arraigned Umar on seven counts of money laundering.

The prosecution accused him of criminal breach of trust and corruption involving alleged diversion of N7.382bn belonging to the Nigerian Air Force.

It alleged that Umar removed the money from the account of NAF while he was the Chief of Air Staff.

The EFCC alleged that Umar used part of the money to acquire the property at Plot No. 1853, Deng Xiano Ping Street, off Mahathir Mohammed Street, Asokoro Extension, Abuja

The defendant was also accused of using part of the money to purchase a residential asset, including a three-bedroomed duplex, with boys’ quarters at Road 3B, Street 2, Mabushi Ministers Hill, Abuja,

He also allegedly used part of the money to acquire property at 14 Audu Bako Way, GRA, Kano and a three-bedroom duplex with three-room boys’ quarters at No. 8 Kabala Road, Unguwan Rimi, GRA, Kaduna.

He also allegedly used part of the money for the renovation/improvement of House No.1853 Deng Xiao Ping Street, Off Mahathir Mohammed Street, Asokoro Extension, Abuja.

The alleged offences were said to be contrary to Section 15(2)(d) of the Money Laundering Prohibition Act 2011 and punishable under Section 15(3) of the same Act.

Umar pleaded not guilty to all the seven counts when read to him before Justice Nyako.

The judge subsequently granted him bail on self-recognition following an application by his lawyer shortly after the arraignment on May 11.

The case was then adjourned till Tuesday for commencement of trial.

But on Tuesday, Umar’s lawyer, Liman told the trial judge that his client had commenced negotiation with the EFCC for the out-of-court settlement of the case.

He said his client had held meetings with the officials of the EFCC during which discussions were held on the proposal.

He said in attendance at the meetings were his client, Umar and his lawyers on one side, and the head of legal department of the anti-graft agency, head of the task force of the commission, Mr. Ibrahim Musa, and the prosecuting counsel, Mr. Sylvanus Tahir, on the other side.

According to Liman, after the first meeting held on May 31 and the subsequent one on June 3, it was resolved that the defendant should send a formal letter detailing his proposal to the commission.

You are right...I suppose. (and I gave you a like by the way).

But...most banks right now are declaring losses. And if they do not start sacking staff right now (to keep the profits up)....it could make them look less profitable...even start declaring losses....which could lead to people taking their money out of said banks...which could lead to them collapsing...which could lead to much bigger job losses.
Yes you are right, but the sack should follow the guidelines prescribed by the law. That is, the affected staff will be notified stating the reasons and fact that made it unavoidable for the company to reduce her staff strength. Negotiate their pay off packages and notify them the date of termination. Not waking up in morning and receiving a text message that you have be sack with not reasons or getting to your work station and discover you can't log in with you credentials and later told you have been sacked.
The great benefits of the law is to provide the affect staff enough fund to cater for his basic for at least 4 months or able to invest and carry on small scale business. You can't be lay off to become a burden to the society, that is the essence of labor laws.

@ fkj950ax
I hope you can see my point of view in the previous post above. I do agree with your assertions but at least the Minister of Labour directive is not out of order.

BOLAUWA:
For those who think the govt has no right to tell the banks to keep the workers, ur wrong. We have been put into so much suffering in this country that we no longer know the right thing. Every country has what is called the LABOUR LAWS, which deals with the rights and relationship of the employee and the employer. Ideally, it is wrong to just layoff a staff without informing the staff and preparing a severance package. If the staffs protest to the govt, as they have done, the govt has a right to intervene, and in this case,d govt is waitin for the outcome of a meeting.
May you be bless. The long rule of military and 16 years of misrule of PDP coupled with a self centered Labour Union leaders had made many gullible Nigeria believe that FG and Labour Union can not stop a retrenchment, most especially those that do not follow the guidelines prescribed by the labor law and the constitution.

Please Ngige should also look into recruitment process and compensation. We still have business paying their workers less than minimum N18k wages. Most of schools and SMEs even some bank outsourced staff fall into these categories.

I thought Buhari is a dullard, why calling him to aid your most wisest governor and ignoring your PhD holder son who has international knowledge in economy management and Mr. President of common sense.
The fact that many online fighter do not know is that, if not for Buhari financial discipline, many states including PDP states will have gone into bankruptcy. Please read first before checking on the pictures

It was with great regret that many Nigerians due to political and ethnical hatred believed that the news on first rescued Chibok girl was an acted scripts by APC led FG and still maintained that the Chibok girl kidnapping under Jonathan was a scam to discredit Jonathan government.

I simply search for images of Chibok girl on Google with the aim of finding the pictures (photo passports) of these girls as released by WAEC and found out the attached pictures.
The rescued girl picture on the attached images are located as
1. last on the second row in the first image,
2. last on the first row in the second image,
3. last on the second row in the third image,
4. The recent picture.
Above all, interviews and testimonies of international journalists on Chibok give evidence beyond reasonable doubt that the girl was one of the Chibok kidnapped girls.

On the local news, all journalists and news media confirmed by first hand (from source) information on the feelings and authenticity of the girl origin including SR.

Don't joke with SW on politics and economy influence. Majority of them are are highly intelligent and knowledgeable. You see as den dey prostrate for OBJ and still referencing Awolowo on education.
There is no reason to occupy Nigeria for the latest fuel ⛽ price increase as there is enough consultation and this was what the stakeholders pushed for.
What we need to push for now is renegotiation of minimum wages, revitalization of our refineries and commencement of work by over 20 licensed oil firms, and community support for FG to combat Niger Delta militancy and BH.
GEJ do not make consultation before he announced the removal of subsidy then but the recent fuel price increase announcement was immediately after the last meetings of stakeholders including NASS, NLC, TUC, etc.

PoliticsRe: The Lagos Calabar Rail Controversy: What everyone should know by TGM2015: 3:27pm On Apr 12, 2016
aribs:
Clever writeup but your points are not all valid. To address them one by one:
First you claim we have an incompetent executive . That in this case could be because you may not have a full understanding of what goes into a budget bill. A budget is a bill of law that is passed like any other bill before the legislature. Amendments are made and are allowed up till when the bill leaves the committee stage. This bill hhad neither been considered by the whole Senate no gone through the First or Second Reading. Even in advanced democracies, budgets go through this same process and it is not uncommon to have serial amendments made to budget estimates
To your other point about having a ruling party in disarray, I think that is the collective fault of the Nigerian voting public. Candidates of different political.parties stood for election into our legislature. If we chose to elect incompetent people to these institutions regardless of political.party affiliations , that is on us.
This flows to your third point about the seeming incapacity of these senators to deliver on their mandate. This shows the quality of those the Nigerian voting public thought best would fit. For instance , what are the qualifications of those who hold these seats ? Do they have the right advisors? In other countries freshmen lawmakers have technical advisers who guide the lawmakers in the performance of their duties. Here it is a job for the boys and hangers on...this budget debacle to me reflects everything wrong with how we perceive candidates . What we should care about is how to make sure all organs of government remember that we put them there and they are supposed to.work.for our interest irrespective of political.affiliations
God bless you.

I agreed with your logic but when you look at the set of PDP Senators and the support for Saraki till the moment, you will agreed with that in better interest of the Country APC candidate that will support APC manifesto should emerge as Senate President. So that by next election APC will have no reason whatsoever to give for any failure under their FG led administration and more so it will reduce the political tension.

Remember the repeated cry of the state honorable members for protection.

Unfortunately, people like you never saw anything wrong in GEJ's actions against the Amaechi.
