I do not think you are so narrow minded. If you search, you would have discovered many communities and most educational institutions in America especially African American Studies Dept. questioning Chinese Government.

The question should have been what did you and your castrated Government do.

Other African countries were heard loud and clear. South Africa immediately debated it and sent plane.

Do you expect dead Gani Fawehimi and old Wole Soyinka to demonstrate for you?

How old was Ojukwu, Gowon, Gani Adams etc?

Lazy youths looking for who to blame or mention one great achievement of the youths to lift their country up except to seek refuge and craw into another Mothers' wombs

Now this is sense!
Crime / Re: Black Lives Matter Protest Holds In Victoria Island, Lagos by ThaProphet(m): 11:00am On Jun 02, 2020
Whilst it is understandable to see this as misplaced priority.

We must not be quick to forget that when African Americans were struggling during the civil rights movement, they also helped fight against exploitation and colonialism in African countries. A lot of their civil rights activists met with and supported African activists in solidarity.

The reason we see this as "stupid" , "unbelievable", "foolish" (as seen in many comments before mine) is not surprising but disappointing. Is is that we do not read much and in most cases cannot see beyond our noses?

Although I agree that this protest seems poorly organised. Imagine the spelling error on that poster!! In addition, in showing solidarity to other nations, the issue should have been protested alongside NIGERIA's own issues as well...that is what solidarity should be about. Our own issues at home should be at the forefront! Yes, protest Floyd's murder but also put a spotlight on the other campaigns we have at home (rape, police violence, corruption, fraud, etc).

Done!

Excuse any typos (if there are any)...Limited time to proof-read and things grin
Travel / Re: Moving Back To Nigeria After The Lockdown by ThaProphet(m): 7:42pm On May 22, 2020
Not as bad as many think.

I moved to Nigeria for just over a year now (although, I am not planning on staying fully).

It is part of my plan of splitting my time between both homes really and frankly, it is going well. There are times I miss the UK (when the internet is crawling despite paying for high-speed internet and when NEPA takes light) but in all, I feel like I will still continue with my plan to spend my time in both countries 50/50.

If you are planning on moving, make sure it is for something worthwhile - don't go to Nigeria looking for jobs lol

I will never understand why Nigerians choose to speak awful English like "There is no any...."

I get it's not our native language, but a grown adult with a formal education, should be well versed in spoken English, to know not to construct such sentences angry

Leave 'any' out of it. Such English will only be tolerated from children.

Thank God someone picked this up...

At this point, English has become a basic life skill.

Nora Robert is a legend, but Tomi Adeyemi is hotter than her right now in 2018. Fact. Tomi's book, Children of Blood and Bone was on New York Times Best Seller list for more than 20 weeks earlier this week, and the movie adaption is on the way. How can people say Tomi is sicking attention. Old writers like Nora Roberts hardly write all their stories again...they have ghost writers write them. It is just their brands that sell right now. Nora's publishers might have thought of that title to ride the wave of Tomi's book.

One of the few comments that makes sense here.

Nigerians never cease to amaze me. I'm no fan of Tomi and don't really like the book but...

The fact is that she is more relevant than this so called Nora right now. This old writer is just seeking relevance just like many established writers eventually do once they're washed out .... I'm convinced that Nora's publishers intentionally played on Tomi's title because she's hot cake right now.

I actually think Tomi made a mistake by giving attention to her book...that's exactly what the publishers want....free promotion for Nora's new book.

And for Obj i didn't less from someone who love Nigeria very much to extend of ceding Nigerian territory to another country just for selfish personal glory.

The funny thing is Nigeria will sign anything presented to it by Western countries (often highly unfavourable ones) without doing due diligence to ensure it will benefit the country but to sign an agreement presented by other African countries, which actually will benefit us and the continent as a collective, we want to do due diligence for years.

If we are to use passports and owning properties in Nigeria as a criteria for being Nigerian then millions of people living in Nigeria are not Nigerians lol. There are plenty who don't have passports and don't have properties in Nigeria.

Maybe I'm nitpicking but even if people don't have ties to Nigeria, they can still claim to be Nigerian. It is what they IDENTIFY with. We can't choose that for them. At any point, she can decide to have a Nigerian passport because she qualifies for it based on birth place and ancestry.

People do have and CAN have dual nationalities. Let them choose who they want to be or what country they wish to associate themselves with.

Even if you are born in Britain with African ancestry, if you commit a crime...their press will mention your ancestry just to create that distance between you and their country. People love associating with success and distancing themselves from negativity, its not a trait unique to Nigerians.

abbey621:

Does Sade or Seal have a Nigerian passport? No! Does Sade or Seal own any properties in Nigeria? Since we are sticking to facts, I can confirm that they both own a British passport, I can also confirm that they own properties in England. Like you said not everyone would like to waive the Nigerian flag but you can't claim a nationality that you have disrespected so many times, he has no ties to Nigeria. Even when his mother was ill and ultimately passed on he refused to visit Nigeria, in fact I believe 2014 was the only year he set foot on Nigerian soil and even that was for a concert! Sade on the other hand visits once in a while but she also has little ties to Nigeria. In the international community she is referred to as a British singer, she was not raised in Nigeria and almost all aspects of her life is British. Once again I know Nigerians love to associate with good things but both Seal and Sade are just as Nigerian as Chamillionaire which says a lot considering Chamillionaire is a gangster U.S born Nigerian with no ties to Nigeria at all grin grin grin

All because of oyinbo people.

Who gives a flying f*ck!? The visitors should be the ones worrying about dressing "appropriately".

This is Africa the weather is hot and humid. Maybe he doesn't want to get athletes' foot and wants fresh air for his feet. The most important thing about dressing is comfort. Maybe he has a sore on his foot. It would be dumb for him to endure the pain and potentially make it worse because he wants to impress some oyibo folks.

Who cares man?

You are certainly right to some extent. However, research and find out why we couldn't change or switch.

The task before us now is to switch and reclaim our rightful place on earth. Let every African work on this and we'd never have to have this type of discussion again.

you have spoken well, buh would u say they weren't smart enof to document all these. People do not take Columbus to be a black man any longer, we once ruled, buh were unable to make impact in our land let alone in the world. So whr are the evidences tha we once ruled. If after every every, the white takes the glory, africa has become a dustbin, whr worthless stuff are thrown.. Nd I do not think the white visited benin kingdom by foot. they created sometin tha made the world applauded them...

The pitfall of many of Africa's civilization is the reliance on oral documentation as opposed to written. Even so, there are written documentations of some of what has been told. The Voyage of Abubakari II is documented for example. The evidence of us ruling is everywhere all over. The reason it seems absent is because we have simply abandoned our history.

Go To Spain today and their medieval architecture was designed and built by Africans who once ruled there. In Nigeria, the largest man made earthwork even with a larger amount of earthworks than the Great Pyramids still stands there.

The civilization of Great Zimbabwe and it's ruins are still there. Sankore University, one of the first ever universities in the world where scholars who taught the so called great philosophers graduated from is still in Timbuktu.

In South America, the evidences of our presence there before Columbus still stands there. Colombus was never a black man. He never discovered America first. Africans had been there before him.

Our history is all over the place and hidden under our noses. We just need to read and discover. It is no secret and it's all out there.

Like I said though. All of this is irrelevant if we are not willing to work for restoration.

Another question: where was Europe during the dark ages when Africa was flourishing?

Africa once ruled the world. As a matter of fact, Africa was the Genesis of all modern human development. When Europeans visited Benin Kingdom, they were amazed ( kind of like a village man visiting New York). The level of development was even more superior to the best civilizations in Europe. This is documented fac

About the issue of Africans not venturing outside of the continent and exploring... King Abubakari II of Mali ventured out to the Americas with hundreds of ships way before Christopher Colombus (the man credited with the "discovery" of America). There is a huge African presence all over North and South America way before any white man set foot there.

Africa also pioneered iron smelting. Would you believe it that Europeans never bathed or used soap until the Africans who travelled there (Moors) taught them how to make and use soap?

These are the things they wouldn't teach us in schools. The school "schools" us into thinking that we are inferior and that we never contributed anything to modern civilization. If we are mentally kept this way, we will act that way and we will never be able to achieve that greatness we once had.

Anyways, all I said above is history. The reality now is that we are at the bottom. All our efforts need to be geared towards becoming a great race once again. This should be the duty of every African! We did it before and we sure still can do it. History is useless if we don't learn from it and follow up with action and WORK. We need an Africa Rising!

What's it again? Women out number men by like 4:1, don't they? So, yea, more women out there than men (argument for polygamy for some) therefore, some will not get married.

Furthermore, some women just don't like men. Some are just plain gay (this also applies to men). undecided

And some are waiting for the perfect man. They probably need to start looking at the possibilities of getting clay and making him themselves.

MOSI OA TUNYA (aka Victoria Falls) - Zambia/Zimbabwe

Mosi oa TUNYA means: the cloud that thunders.

The Mosi-oa-Tunya/Victoria Falls is the world’s greatest sheet of falling water and significant worldwide for its exceptional geological and geomorphological features and active land formation processes with outstanding beauty attributed to the falls i.e. the spray, mist and rainbows. This transboundary property extends over 6860 ha and comprises 3779 ha of the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park (Zambia), 2340 ha of Victoria Falls National Park (Zimbabwe), 741 ha of the riverine strip of Zambezi National Park (Zimbabwe). A riverine strip of the Zambezi National Park extending 9 km west along the right bank of the Zambezi and islands in the river are all within the Park as far as Palm and Kandahar Islands, with the Victoria Falls being one of the major attractions. The waterfall stands at an altitude of about 915 m above mean sea level (a.m.s.l.) and spans to about 1708 m wide with an average depth of 100 m and the deepest point being 108 m. Sprays from this giant waterfall can be seen from a distance of 30 km from the Lusaka road, Zambia and 50 km from Bulawayo road, Zimbabwe. (Excerpt from UNESCO)

With their skimpy dress they put those people into temptation and we should not forget that not all of us can over come temptation but its the grace of God. Remember that falling into temptation is a sin.

Why would they make someone to sin with their skimpy dress at the first place... The same sins our forefathers committed is what we are suffering from now

Why should we have a dirty mind in the first place? Must we try to control other people and force them to confirm to what we deem as decent?

I'm not sure what you mean by the sins of our forefathers. Do you mean that because they did not wear much clothes, they sinned? If that's what you meant, I fully disagree with you. They saw bare breasts and bare laps yet, they did not sexualize it much. They had self control and were upright for the most part. If you ask me about sins, I'd say the modern African is to blame, not our forefathers.

Now, if you are talking about other "sins", that's a different topics altogether. Just because they did not subscribe to Christianity or Islam does not mean they were sinful or immoral. It's apples and oranges really.

What is 'indecent' when you live in the tropics?

When it is hot it makes sense to wear less clothing.

It is insane to cover yourself up as if you are trying to withstand a harsh European winter when the reality is that it is 30 celcius outside and humid.

Finally, some common sense.

Same goes for people who wear a vest, shirt, waistcoat and a suit jacket while wearing trousers, thick socks and shoes in a boiling hot weather! Our tropical weather favours less clothing hence, our ancestors kept clothing minimal. Clothing was minimal then but wasn't sexualised.

The problem here is not the fact that clothes are skimpy. People wore "skimpier" clothes back then because they had common sense not because they were stupid or were slots. The problem is over-sexualisation of our bodies.

I know however that ladies and guys dress skimpy these days to attract sexual attention and I don't agree with that.

The core problem is not the clothes, it's the mind of those in the clothes and the minds of those complaining.

My 2 kobo on the subject.
