Hello everyone. I salute those who are spending their time to educate people here. My 14 year old daughter has been on my neck lately about visiting the US ;about two of her classmates were there for their summer holidays. Actually I've promised my family in the past that we'd visit Disney land one day but haven't given much thought to it. Now my wife is also saying it's about time we tried. I'm a business man in my late thirties, earning about 500k to 750k/month depending on sales. Wife is a full housewife in her mid thirties (she does some online businesses which she earns from). We have a second daughter aged 5. I'm thinking of taking them to Disney land during the Easter holidays. We have no travel history. Pls advise.
I would strongly recommend you to read this thread from the beginning to have a better understanding of the process and to familiarize yourself with the visa interview scenario

Don't let the lack of travel history stops you from applying for a US visa. People has been given US visa without any prior travel history. Keep in mind that honesty is the best policy. You may fail once but may be successful on your next visa application. Stay away from agents given that you may face a lifetime ban for using an agent who may misleed you with fake documents or help you get fake stamps in the passports. Fake documents can easily be detected by embassies.

I have copy and paste the following from a visa officer, LagosNIV. Good luck

The required documents are:

International passport
2 passport photos
DS160 confirmation page
MRV Fee Receipt

Documents which are not required but are sometimes requested:
copies of the US Visa or bio-data page of the international passport of family members who have already been issued visas and who will be traveling with you
copies of the US Green Card or US Passport of family in the US who you are going to visit

Most other documents will not be requested nor looked at if offered. As a general rule if there is a document we want to see in order to make a fair decision on your case we can put the case on hold in 221g status and request that you submit the document before we make a final decision.

No matter how legit you are... Canadian Embassy will not issue you a visit visa for now.... The reason was because we (Nigerian) have succeeded in abusing the refugee status thing.... it's just crazy.
From the stats, I don't think that Nigerians in Canada had abused the refugees system like the Congoleses or Haitians or Indians had done. And the Canadian Embassy is still issuing visas to national from the Congo, Haiti and India.
I am a Congolese by the way.

I m still thinking when Nigerians eyes will open to realize that there is no greener pasture anywhere than this country, forget about what you are seeing or hearing about other countries on Net, once they travel to the so called greener pastures they will face their reality.

I have more than 10 friends and 5 family members in abroad, I can boldly say that I'm better than 9 of them .

I was born here

graduated here

working here

married here

build my personal house here while most of the so called abroad guys dont have because the system abroad cant give them opportunity to build a house

bought my cars here

And im living better with my small salary, i carry beautiful african queens if i need to, I club without fear of someone deporting me.

So tell me what else I need that God has not done for me here? There are beautiful places you can visit around the country if you have money.
Another "them vs us" nonsense .
Do you truly think that everyone who is trying to go abroad lacks common sense? Are you better than all Nigerians abroad? Do every Nigerians in Nigeria have a car, job house?

It's Cheaper, Faster, Safer and Best to learn from other peoples mistakes and experiences...
But unfortunately we don't seem to learn from other people's mistake... human nature has it that we prefer to learn from our own mistakes. And after we have learned from our mistakes and try to warn others they won't listen to us. They will go on to male the same mistakes... and thus the cycle of mistakes will keep on spinning

The thread is invaded with about to become illegal immigrants.

it a minus for the genuine non immigrants applicants....
Hmmmm.... interresting...

Getting a refugee status in Canada isn't as easy as people think. Thousands of Haitians had left the US to apply for refugee status in Canada but so far only 10 percent of them have been granted refugees status.

Good day all,

I am a silent reader here.

I have been to US embassy to for visa application sometime in 2015 to attended my cousin wedding but I was denied visa then.

I am applying for visa now because I have a church program I am to attended in march 2018, the church is paying for my trip to and fro for 7 days, but I may want to visit another place within the same state but I will be paying for that myself. I don't have any prior travel experience out of Nigeria because I'm not a fan leaving Nigeria for greener pasture and I like my freedom in Nigeria.

I work as accountant, single and member of ICAN I have filled and submitted my ds 160 form and booked interview for February 2018.

My questions is...

1. what are likely questions that VO may asked again since I was refused the first time.

2. I have invitation for the program, does that guaranteed that I will be issue a visa since it a religious program I am attending?

3. what are necessary/relevant documents I need to take to the interview date?

I will be grateful if I get constructive response here and no my flop's from my pervious visa application.

Thank you
1- you can go through the thread to read different transcripts that will give you an idea of the type of questions that are asked at visa interviews.

2-3 As per visa officers on Nairaland, an invitation letter isn't necessary for visit visa nor are documents.

Why would work history in Dubai be a red flag?

Hi everyone. Good evening. Please I want to be guided. My interview is on the 24th of next month. I am going for a church conference. I work as an events manageress. I have been denied once last year. Then, I was working in a multi national company before I resigned to start a company of my own and business has been really good. Now, my question is; I have a sister in Atlanta but I am going for the conference in Utah, Salt lake city to be precise. Last year when I applied, my sister was my contacts person but this year it is different because of my program. What are my chances? I tend to be optimistic though.
It has been said over and over here on Nairaland by visa officers that no one can predict your chance of getting a visa. Each case is unique
At the time of your application, visa officers can have information about you that is not revealed on Nairaland. That is why it is difficult for anyone on here to forecast the outcome of your visa application.

The best you can do to maximize your chances is to apply and be honest. Honesty is the best policy. Even if you don't get your visa, you may always get it in the future. Some people has got US visa even when the odds were against them

Good day to you all, please house I really need your help or a link answer that relate to my problem, I am planning to go to US maybe things can get better there though I have been to UAE before but some friends told me if I apply as married man it easier than been single please how true is this?
Hello Solute, what the 2 previous posts are trying to tell you is that honesty is the best policy. Every lie in your visa application will somehow catch up with you some day. I can give you few examples of people who had lost their permanent resident status in the US or Canada just because the immigration had discovered lies made in the original visa applications.

To answer your question, even single people have been granted US visa.

Whatever happened to your relationship , please be consinstent in the answers you will put forth in your visa application as well as the interview to avoid a ban.
You can't indicate at one instance that you had never been married and then at another intance you indicate you are separated.

Bro, you are on the right track. You can always get women in your life, provided you have the potentials to make a good boyfriend/husband. You have a long way to go so I won't want you to bother your mind with women affairs. Focus on your grade and studies if you are still in school.

You can start by making a female friend in your church/ class. See how it turns out.
Why does he have to go through all this while some men worst than him play with different girls everyday?

I know of a case where the applicant was rejected for a Canadian immigrant visa because of this exact same paradox.

Any question that has been on my mind to ask is if anyone has experienced any form of racism since you landed. Please share your experience.
Over here there is a notion of subtle racism. The Federal and provincial gouvernements had published materials online explaining what racism or discrimination is and what you can do if you believe you have been a victim of racism or discrimination.

If you believe you have been mistreated on account of your race, religion, gender, disability, marital status at your job or at a bank or any company providing services to the public, you can lodge a complain either with the Canadian human rights commission or your provincial human rights commission. In most cases you have a time frame of 1 year to lodge your complaint from the time of the incident. The human rights commission will investigate the matter. If your case has merit, the commission will transfer the case to the tribunal for trial.

Not every instances of unfair treatment will be perceived as racist by the human right tribunal. On the other hand, a simingly innoncent incident may be ruled as racist by the commission and the tribunal. That is the reason why racist jokes are strictly prohibated by employers.

Adding to that, the Canadian human rights commission take also into account cases of mistreatment between members of the same race. If you believe a nigerian who is your boss or who represent a company that provides services to the public had mistreated you because of your tribe, you can lodge your complaint with the commission. That is why a black person calling another black the n word will be ruled as racism before the human rights commission and tribunal

The misconceptions is that because a manager or president of a company is black, a claim of racism against that company by a black person wont stand before the human rights commission or tribunal.
Conversely, the commission doesnt accept the "I am not a racist because I have black friends" argument that can be used by a white person.

Anyway, there are also cases where people of color have been accused of racism by white people before the commission. So, the Canadian human rights commission protect everyone

I have been in the uae for the past 6 years... the issue on ground is not about buhari. It's been on for so long. I advice you to check out Emirate nbd. Its my bank so am sure u won't be rejected because you are a Nigerian. One of the major reasons why Nigerians are turned down in opening account is based on fact that some nigerian guys have successfully hacked into their system and stole some money online simply because they have accounts with them. So I don't really blame them for doing so. The norm here is you represent your country; if you do bad ,every of ur national is termed bad. Also there is this general believe that Nigerians elope with loans when granted. Since you can't get a loan if you don't have an account with them hence they reject Nigerians.
I just want to use this medium to appeal to every Nigerian living abroad to always be fair in whatever they do. And also consider integrity above money making. Together we can rebrand the name of Nigeria abroad. God bless Nigeria
It is called discrimination. And I am shocked when you indicate you don't really blame them.
You can't punish an entire race or nation for the action of some people.
That is why I love living in North America given that poo like this will never happen over here.
Those banks would be facing litigation should something like this happen in North America. But given that the UAE is a jungle with no law, anyone can act as they see fit. SMH
