Thank you so much guys... I don't know how to express this feeling. Mentioning your names individually from Predstan to victree007, time2win, iwriterng, wayne2baba , and a host of others, thank you.. God bless you all..

Visa status as at 4.16pm today - Issued.
TravelRe: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 15 by TheNoble007(m):
Visa approved this morning at the Abuja consulate. I was scheduled for the 15th of August, but was fortunate to have rescheduled to 9th of August and do you know that I did that on the 7th of August?

Profile - BSc. ( Hons)), 2 Published papers and abstract. Two awards from the American physical society. One Harvard e-print( NASA/SAO).

Funding- merit scholarship of $22,627 + teaching assistant position starting this fall and subsequent semesters. The merit scholarship has nothing to do with the teaching position funding. Course- masters in optics / optical sciences

Interview : window 8, had rejected someone already before I went to meet him..

VO - Good morning, pass me your passport

Me - hope you slept well! Here is my passport and i20

VO- okay why are you going to ......

Me- Apart from the fact I was awarded a generous merit scholarship which of course I am grateful for, I chose this school because of the on going research of my..... VO cut in... He was amazed at the scholarship amount.

VO - how did you get this scholarship?

Me - my excellent undergraduate grades, previous research and awards... Cuts in again.

VO - which school did you graduate from?

Me- University of Jos, Nigeria

VO- that's a very good school you know.. I concurred.

VO- okay, what's optical science?

Me- I was surprised at the question, but I went ahead to give him a detailed answer.

VO- from your answer, I must tell you that you are a credible student.

Me- thank you sir.

VO- Great, but you know that New York is very expensive.. I have been there when I went for a burial.. I couldn't hear him clearly.. I don't want you to go and struggle even though you will be given stipends.. So where are you going to stay? Your accomodation? I don't want you to stay in an uncomfortable housing?.... We both laughed and our laughter echoed. Okay I will be approving your visa but I will advice you, make sure you study well, and don't forget to come back home if things go rough... Congrats again on your scholarship.. Then passes the white pick up paper, and the congratulations slip.. Have a great day.

Me- Thank you very much sir.

NB - I really thank Jesus Christ. If you don't believe in God, please I do. He has led me through since my undergrad days and during the demise of my dad. And I believe He will make me perform exploits..May God name be praised.. I wish those who are yet to be interviewed, a successful visa interview...

Do i really need to fill a new ds 160 because of the mistake about sponsor?
Please do... Go to retrieve application, then follow the commands. When you get a new ds 160 code, you update it on the appointment page if you've scheduled your appointment already.

I am finding it hard trying to correlate your story with the situation at hand

By the way, you think because the lady is a German policewoman, the guy wouldnt have retorted the slap with a dirtier one??

Make una no dey support bad thing abeg
You still do not understand the statement. No one is supporting bad thing here.. The morale of the story is that we should bear the shame if at all in order to get what we want... A friend shared how she got her US visa at the embassy in Germany... So easy... They even had coffee or so that you can take as you wait.. Can that happen in Nigeria? I don't think so... It is the shame our leaders brought upon us... What can we do?.

My one and only question is ‘ from past experiences, if a student gets the AP status and doesn’t clear off before the school’s resumption date, one just has to defer right ?, so let’s say after resumption the visa is issued, the main question is , will the student have to reapply for visa the next time or not?
In my opinion, if issued, the visa is for two years, therefore valid... The only thing the student will have to do is to request a new and valid i20 to show at the port of entry!

@justwise, you are quick to remove my post and other post that are not insulting, but yet allow the man who provokes the post to go Scot free? That's bad man! In as much that I uphold holiness personally, I find it derogatory to backlash people who could be innocent like the way Twoods do here.. I discovered that I made a mistake or an error while applying for the students visa.. How can I correct it. I initially schedule an appointment for last week but I was turned back at the embassy because the confirmation number on DS does not tally with the one on my visa application.
Then this week I rescheduled the appointment date and after selecting the interview date I discovered that I had chosen Renewal instead of previously refused. This renewal instead of previously refused was what was on the application that got me the turned back at first.
Please how can I correct this mistake or error before my next appointment date.
Note.. I have only reschedule the appointment once after the first appointment, thus, making it two scheduling on this current visa application payment.
Your urgent response is highly required and appreciated.
Are you for F1 visa.? How did you see renewal? Did you fill another ds160 apart from the old one? If yes, you would have updated the new ds160 number on your appointment page at least three days to your interview.. Since you've rescheduled, I am afraid that you may have to pay another visa fee!

Hi, I wish you asked if I put in multiple application before you jumped into conclusion that I did. I registered just once, I am very sure of that since I did the application myself. Also, calling Paulinus an ass is just stating facts and I will tell you why. Paulinus came in sick yesterday and had to leave early, somebody else had to take his place. At 9:00am (when paulinus was still in charge) only one student had gone in for interview. As meticulous as paulinus claim to be, he is slow and not as efficient as the other guy who was so efficient and polite. Anybody at the embassy yesterday will attest to this. You dont have to be rude to get the work done. Paulinus kept on ridiculing me and claiming that the mistake can never be from the Embassy. I quote him "Computer no they make mistake". Like I said, you jumped to conclusion as there were other students with the same issue as mine, the other guy attended to them and assured them that they would do their interview on the second date. Paulinus had no right to be rude to me. I respect people that respect me, I dont respect people because they are old. he behaved like an ASS yesterday. so.....
Lol, I get your drift... Calm down young lady... Last year, a white German police lady at the embassy, moved forward to slap a young well dressed guy.. She was restrained. Who knows how thunderous the slap would have been. In this life, sometimes we need to behave foolish to get what we want okay.. Enough of this topic.. Cheers!

I think you should go on both days. My first day (Today) had my passport number, my applictaion number and was well detailed. My other date(Wednesday) was a 3 liner message just saying "Come for your interview on this day and by this time. Paulinus was an ass who insisted that "I am lying" since computer cannot make mistake. I was suppose to be the second student. I was delayed. He took my passport and today print out inside, came back and told me to leave the premises with no explanation whatsoever. One of the mopol now pointed out that 07/08 was scribbled on the cancelled printout. He said I should come back on 7th. t
Calling a man who can father you an ass sounds rude... That's why it is necessary not to make multiple selection for visa appointment.. This is the period that the embassy is very slow in the process, which can be very annoying .. I don't wish this, albeit, some of you might have to travel to Lagos, to beg them to give you your visa because of your enrollment deadline especially when your school refuses to extend enrollment date.. At least last year, I was there and I saw the tears from desperate students whose visa have been approved but stamped passport delayed.. The same man you call an ass, can still be the one to help your case...you never can tell... Let's be polite even in words, despite the anger.. It will all end in praise.. Stay blessed!

Hello house, please I requested for an emergency appointment since 3 weeks ago at the Lagos consulate and attached a copy of my i20 and I haven't gotten a response yet either to approve or deny my request and I heard if I cancel my request, I would have to pay another visa fee to reapply. Pls what do I need to do as class start Aug 26. Pls I need your suggestions house. Ejoor e help mi.
You can't cancel your request... The only thing you can do is to cancel your appointment... Albeit, the answer to your request has taken longer time than expected. Abuja replied me, in just a day telling me that my appointment date is sufficient for the dates on my i20..that I can meet up... actually it is, I have 10 more days to school resumption from the date of appointment. I will suggest you get a late arrival letter from your school if actually they issue this, as some schools don't. This is your best bet, except your scheduled appointment is far dated from your date of resumption. Have you had an appointment at the consulate before?

Hope you've picked 19th of August??

As far as it is before your resumption date it is fine.

There is no guarantee that you'll be granted an emergency request. So stick to Abuja's date.
You'll likely see an earlier date for Abuja as the fall window is winding up.
I think the 19th of August is a mistake... I believe he meant to write 29th of August... That's what was there yesterday... I have been on the portal because I am planning to reschedule... Lol

This is not very true.. There are many students on self funds pursuing a PhD even in very top schools.. Some Chinese and Indians don't care as far as they can get loan or support to study in America. For many of them, US is their heaven on earth. Please go to gradcafe and see!!

Lol! Lol! Lol! I begged ooo, I begged that no one should come for me cos I have headache and I am preparing for my interview... *Ok, inhale and exhale* grin I rolled on the floor to thank God on behalf of someone else's visa. That's completely different from my previous denials. You didn't have to tag it "insincere religious grovelling". Haba! Haba Baba!

I have never said I was right by staying in the States for 5 months on a visiting visa. Never! I knew I was wrong and it's of no use crying over spilt milk. An health emergency came up that required me staying that long. Off course at the time, I didn't know it was a wrong move. I got the 4 rejections within 3wks because I didn't want to loose my admission, last year. Desperation is the last thing that defines me. You really didn't have to throw that low blow. I know what went wrong then and I know what to do, thanks for the advice.

About the job, I am a lecturer and a school owner. As a lecturer, you can get a leave of absence without pay. You have aired your opinions, hope I was able to clarify a few things for you? Please kindly don't come after me with negative inferences and assumptions. All the best.
Even though I am in support of twoods view, I however love your matured response. That's good girl.... Don't worry, you will be favored... and you will come here to encourage others... Feel free to quote this statement when it happens... I earnestly wish you and myself the very best...

Am not sure he is cracking jokes bro. I think he actually once said on the platform that he graduated from a British Uni with a first class honours in Software Engineering. He seems to be a brilliant dude but he has allowed his profile to get to his head which is why you will always see too much pride in anything he post. I remembered you and him exchanged words last week over the way he was asking questions with arrogance. How I wish he can just be humble enough so that he won't have issues with the VO during his interview. It really pays to be humble! I wish him success!

Cheers.
He said he got a CGPA of 4.0/4.0 and failed to understand that that is not magna cum laude as he said, but summa cum laude. Summa cum Laude is of the highest honor. I laugh in chinese. He is actually a good comedian... I love his antics!

Jacy1995:
Hello, I’m also an aspirant for the fall program in IUP. Was it in Lagos you had your interview please?

Hi @fairheart, please I need your help. My visa got denied this morning and here is my transcript.

School: Indiana University of Pennsylvania
Session: Fall 2019
Venue: Lagos Embassy
Program: MSc Geography

V.O: Good morning
Reply: Good morning

V.O: Pass me your passport
Reply: I did

VO: How did you get to know the school, IUP?
Me: (this was my planned answer) I got to knownof the school through 2 acquaintances of mine (which wasn’t true) then she gave me the shocker....

VO: What are their surnames?
Me: I actually didn’t prepare for this so I just kinda gave her two random names.

VO: she typed on her pic and was like she couldn’t find those names in her database...
Me: I was like that’s strange cos they actually studied there....

VO: Why do you wanna study Geography?
Me: (at this point, I was already destabilized as a result of the failed name ish) I gave an answer about my main area of concentration being environmental planning and how this would help checkmate the harmful excesses of urbanization. But wasn’t feeling the session again but just kept hoping.

VO: How many schools did you apply to?
Me: 3 schools, IUP, Western Illinois University and Texas Southern University....(although I applied to just one)

VO: Did you gain admission in all?
Me: Yes, I did

VO: what’s your GRE score?
Me: I didn’t take any tests as they were a requirement for admission for the program.

VO: What do you do?
Me: I work as a quantity surveyor in a construction company.

VO: Who is sponsoring you?
Me: My eldest brother

VO: What does he do?
Me: he works as the head of projects in a telecoms servicing company.

VO: Do you have an account statement?
Me: Yes, passed it. (She looked through and typed on her pic for a while)

VO: Sorry, you ain’t eligible for visa at this time.
And that was it.

Please I really need your advice..... if I reapply, how would I remedy the “how do you know about IUP” question and in what other ways can I make my general case more convincing.

Kindly help a brother.... thanks in anticipation...
Brother, how do you want to be assisted? My question is why did you lie? We are the ones making things difficult for us, making these VO's device means to access Nigerians. Even thourough Google Search mention alone would have been enough.

My advice is this: dust your feet and when next you go for visa appointment, be sure to tell the new VO the truth. You really don't know the remarks the VO left on your portal.

Your visa is valid for 2 years and if you defer before leaving the school and is not over a year you don’t need to apply for another visa again.

But contact US embassy to find out if the rules has change or not.

Lastly the nunber you sent to me via email, I thought it’s for you because I called it and the person say he didn’t know auditmonkey your user name.
@walspring, please kindly check your mail. Thank you in advance for the sevis payment

Yeah, I've had the same worry too but I'm looking to do something related to IT and with high funding prospects. I don't mind switching majors too, any suggestions?
Congrats to you, albeit getting funding for MS in something related to IT in a good school in US, will be difficult for you because of your background. IMO, I will say pursue a PhD in your current field. You can drop along the way with a masters degree in hand if you are not sure of completing the PhD program. By then, you must have acquainted yourself with the educational system. I believe you will succeed, and by the way try to build up the rest of your application , to further offset your undergraduate GPA.

Your letters of recommendation, personal statement and research experience, maybe what adcomms are looking for. All the best!

Please can the DS160 be changed 3 days to your interview?
Once submitted, you can't change it. Except you will go to retrieve application, you will answer some security questions, and automatically your info will be added except your travel experience to US. Then you can edit this. Remember that you will have a different ds160 bar code. Do not cancel the one you used to book appointment except you want to reschedule and pay another visa fee. You can submit the new ds160 form, and on the day of your interview, you go with the two different ds160 confirmation pages. The one for your visa appointment and the updated one. Do not worry, because all these will appear on the VO screen with your name. Albeit, you should only do this, when you have more than three days left!

Get a late arrival letter from the international office of your school. Or if you are close to the director of your program or your advisor who should be a top faculty, he/she can write a letter on your behalf. Some schools may not agree, albeit if you are a top notch student or favored, you can beat this. Because the VO will raise an eyebrow once he sees the date. So get a letter to back you up in case. They may not care if one was previously denied or not.

Alternatively, you could tell the God of heaven and Earth to blind the eyes of the VO like Elisha did to the Syrians
