Another naptu2 thread filled with historical facts. |
More strange activities at the NNPC. Time to privatize that behemoth, and also time to deregulation. |
Asamoah Gyan! Was not happy when he left Premier league for a lesser league though. Man who missed scoring the goal that might have gotten Ghana in the semis of a World Cup |
All hail YEKING |
If this news is true...it shows PDP has not learned one of the lessons of 2015....sort out issues on time. PDP lost the middle belt in 2015....largely because of too many aggrieved members who were not sorted out on time. I doubt SE would vote APC in 2019....even if Ekweremadu defects....BUT....since 2019 is going to be a narrow election....a few thousand votes here and there could be very important. |
The article writer is right. A lot of people love to blame government, when the truth is, Nigerians are their OWN worst enemies. |
Richdad50:Instead of defending or for that matter attacking Jonathan...ask where the following people were all these years. 1.The chairmen of the local government where Otuoeke is located. 2.The state governor. It is not Jonathan's job to fix his village's flood problem. There are people whose responsibility it is to do so....and they were found wanting. Nigerians call for true federalisim, more states ,more local governments...yet when there is small problem in their house, they expect Aso Rock to fix it. Might as well abolish all the states, LG, REGIONS, etc....and run everyhting from Abuja. |
Nnamdi Kalu is just building castles in the sky. He should work with the reality that is Nigeria...and stop fooling himself and his legions of followers. As it stands right now, Nigeria's laws cannot give Biafra referendum...plus, who is going to conduct the referendum (Before you say UN...make I no laff). If Ibos follow IPOB and don't take part in the election...by the time they wake up and suddenly find it diffiuclt to get a peaceful secession...they will suddenly be crying that IPOB has decieved them... H.E Ike Ekweremadu, the Deputy Senate President has already outlined, in detail, how IPOB can get a referendum peacefully. Yet no one is listening to him. Better accept the reality of Nigeria, vote for PDP (who might win)...and at least take Atiku at his word when he talks about restructuring...which may lead to referendum peacefully. Because the alternative is 'war'...and you won't like it. |
LastSurvivor11:I tell you. I just wonder how they manage to even build roads in places like Rivers and Bayelsa....talkless house! |
Ekaka1:Ah, I am a conservative guy...so if I knew the lady in question, I would be outright calling her names. (I will even be telling her to repent). But the sad thing is, Nigerian society discriminates against women who are childless. And the woman can be as fertile as anything..but because she does not have kids...she gets the blame. Add the fact that most Nigerian guys don;t want to do the tests for fertility level...plus assisted fertility in Nigeria is very very expensive (can reach millions to do a full IVF cycle). So, what is a woman married to an infertile man to do? Be holy and get insulted all day long..and have too much pressure from even religious people to produce...? or sin....and at least have some peace? (Yes, I know women who took the holy route...and God eventually blessed them. And I know of women who adopted children with husbands. But adoption in Nigeria....hmmm another tori Many tribes don't accept it). In my opinion, just as it is immoral for the woman to go and be prostituing herself to get children...it is also immoral for society to blame and put pressure on a woman who has not yet concieved as if she is evil. Esepcially as MOST causes of men being infertile is due to men involving themselves in immorality after immorality. |
GreatMahmud:1.A toxicology screen...usually looks at various 'poisions' not just the malarial drug. And it takes six weeks to come out. 2.And even then....a high value of malaria drug is not enough to ascertain the cause of death. That's where an autopsy plus a review of the man's last illness comes in . 3,Most malarial drugs don't cause death in overdose. But the problem with the story is...the article does not give us the name of the malarial drug responsible. 4.Plus after the overdose...he was sick for several more weeks. Long enough for the drug to have long since been metabolized to a large extent. Unless someone was giving him the malaria drug on a daily basis. Sadly, the story does not give enough evidence to say the man died of an overdose. For all we know...he may have had a concomitant illness...which was not diagnosed because...the chap didn't go to LUTH on time! |
anonymous96:4 times...because in Nigeria 1.One child is not enough. (I know one member of a church I used to attend. Man had one child with wife for over ten years. Even the wife's relatives were suggesting he should take another wife. Eventually, wife had another child..and everyone relaxed. ).2.The woman waited long enough for the man to do something about their infertility issue...and since he did nothing from his side..... 3.Of course, immorality! (Am not that innocent!) |
Orla234:I have modified my post...check it out. But I will say this....and yes, I am a very conservative, anti-adultery guy myself....in Nigeria...a woman who does not have the fruit of the womb is always made to take all the blame...EVEN if her husband is shooting blanks...and she is fertile. I do not condone what she did...but at the same time, I think society in Nigeria gives childless women too much unnecessary sufferment. |
stagger:That too.... ![]() But in standard settings ...ie developed world...it takes 6 weeks to to a total tox screen. Then again, I don't know the malarial drug he was given, or the dosage....so I can't make a judgement as to whether the malarial drug 'overdose' was responsible for the patient's condition....assuming there WAS an overdose. |
Xaos:The guy was probabaly infertile..which could be caused by either genetics, bad diet, or repeated sexually transmitted infections. (That is why some of us think that we should all get married as virgins. Even those of us who were experienced before marriage...once upon a time were VIRGINS). And he probably did not go to hospital on time...or probably did not get tested and get help on time. Meanwhile...Madam is in a dilema. If she does not have children....EVERYONE will ASSUME it is her fault (EVEN in developing countries)....so she took the 'easy way out' by finding voluntary sperm donors... ![]() Please...if you are having dififuclty seeing fruit of the womb....CONSULT YOUR LOCAL OBSTETRICIAN/GYNAECOLOGIST. |
ZombiePUNISHER:OK...a guy that was out of power, and in prision somehow was able to mastermind an assasination, right under the noses of the DSS, NIA and DMI.... You will be telling me Buhari was responsible for the death of President John F.Kennedy... ![]() |
ZombiePUNISHER:Buhari was in jail...and out of power then. (FYI...I am no Buhari fan...but I do know my history). Plus.....as I said earlier...IBB was in office then. All of Buhari's boys were out of power...and were in jail .Buhari's intelligence chief was imprisioned (IBB specifically went after him...for a host of reasons). And Buhari never forgave IBB (rumor has it that Bubu even divorced wife no 1 for accepting financial help from IBB's wife during his time in detention). Better read up on your history. You are free to crtique Bubu...but lying is not good. |
ZombiePUNISHER:Oga, this your hate for Bubu has gone over the line. 1.Buhari was under house arrest at the time of the incident. He was no longer in power, it was IBB who was in power. Plus, Bubu'sintelligence chief Rafindiadi was under actual detention (and was not freed till several years later). 2.As far as we know...we don';t know who sent the letter bomb...wether it was agents of the then government....or foreign agents...or drug cartels. And I'll leave it at that. |
eyinjuege:IBB was in charge.... |
According to Eyengho, Ekejimbe was rushed to LUTH on Tuesday, when his condition became critical after he was allegedly given an overdose of malaria drug at another hospital. The drug was said to have damaged his red blood cell, causing the deceased to emaciate following which he patronized a pharmacist who Eyengho said was coming to his house to treat him. Narrating further, the ANCOP leader said, “Chris became ill, while he was on location shooting his soap opera. He went to a hospital and was diagnosed with acute malaria and typhoid fever. He went in and out of hospital, yet his condition did not improve. I was one of the few persons who saw him before he died.OK...where to start.. 1. The story is second hand...so I cannot make a clear judgement...but here we go. 2.We don't know the name of the malarial drug. However, it ispossible that what happened was that there was malarial drug resistance (rare in Nigeria, but happens...). 3.Malaria fever itself CAN damage your red blood cells, and reduce your RBC level if not treated properly. 4.Most Nigerians respond to malarial drugs effectively. Also, most Nigerians have some immunity to malaria...because this is a mesoendemic country. 5. I suspect he either had a) Severe malaria (not impossible). b) Another disease...which probably affected his red blood cells...and caused them to crash. 6.He did not go to a good hospital...ie a TEACHING HOSPITAL....where he could have been tested...and a cause found. (As an example, old family friend...had kidney issue...thought to be due to overuse of painkillers...but further investigaiton at a teaching hospital revealled cancer. Sad story). 7. Malarial drugs can be given in overdose. And they can cause issues. But MOST OF THE TIME...when we prescribe malarial drugs...we usually tell patients how to take them (MOST pharmacists , nurses, even lab techies know the appropriate dose of malarial drugs...not just doctors). So...it is possible he was already on IV malarial drugs...which might indicate severe malaria (rare, but happens)...WHICH on its own can account for the low blood level and emaciation. 8.I am tired of the Malaria/typhoid diagnosis. Only way you can diagnose typhoid effectively is by a stool test, OR a urine test OR by culturing bone marrow. Widal is not reliable...but because the other tests take time, we have no choice. So, I am assuming he did not have typhoid...untill I see a culture report. 9. Why am I writing this ling story...so that people don;t shout 'Doctors'.! I know the Nigerian medical field has a lot of improving to do...but this case ....we need further info before we cry negligence. |
Watched the match partially last night. The minute I saw Messi fall down like that...I knew. Knew someone who had a similar injury. Fell on his outstretched hand....fractured his radius. Ouch. Fall on Outstretched arm injury...ouch |
asuustrike1:Bros, you are making good points...but here is the thing. Nigerians will complain about how bad government is all day long. Infact, visit your local vendor and see how Nigerians yab their government and the 'elite'......AND at the end of the day, they will obediently line up behind PDP or APC. It is the same worldwide. I have been on UK based threads where people complain about the 'evil TORIES' or the 'weak Labour'...and once election comes, guess which parties have the maximum number of seats. Or the USA....people will grumble about the evil Republicans and Democrats...and at the end of the day...guess who wins the maximum number of votes (And there are several other parties in the USA...plus independent candidates). The thing is, Nigerians prefer the devil they know and can predict, than the angel they do not know about. Like now, millions of Nigerians know who Buhari and Atiku are, long before they went into politcs. How many Nigerians know of Sowore (unless you read online publicaitons, or like me, have been following him since his exploits as a student union leader in the early 1990's), Moghalu (unless you like reading CBN and banking news), Ezekwesili (who only got well known because she became a Minister...before when she was holding the bigger World BANK job,how many people knew her?)...or that Durotoye guy? Yes, they all got nice plans ....but at the end of the day, Nigerians are going to go for 'stability' rather than 'change'...and if stability means Bubu or Atiku...so be it. And it pains me a lot...but what can one do? Keep trying? After all, when was the last time in other parts of the world someone actually voted to throw the elites out? Even in modern democracies (Don't mention Macron). |
Hmmm Here is the honest truth Buhari can do nothing about Mr Ganduje case.... He cannot remove Ganduje from office, or suspend him (unless there is a serious crisis.) or touch him. The onus lies on the State House of Assembly. Take Alams of Bayelsa. The EFCC could not touch or harm him until he was removed/impeached by the State House of Assembly...then they could move in. It has to do with the immunity clause....which was put into our constitution, and which might have gotten removed back in 2007...if it was not for the issue around Obasanjo's third term show...that made 149 other good reforms to the laws removed. So, the ball is in the State House of Assembly...till they remove him, EFCC can do nothing. After all, EFCC could not go after Fayose until he had handed over to Fayemi. |
DFlyest:Bros, is that picture attached to your comment for real? Bet9ja must favour my family? Okay... |
Good...but it has limited functionality. You cant takepictures with it for example. Sorry...but not value for money. With that same N101000, I can buy a big phone ...or even several small Nokias that can do the same thing and more. |
Back in the bad old days...once. I did wrtie WAEC twice though... |
Earthbound:If Trump cancels the arms deal with Saudi Arabia....that could cost lots of American jobs...in the arms manufacturing industry. (Esepcially as Trump's approval ratings is dependent onjob growth). Then there is the threat of high oil prices. |
Fun fact... 1.There is a thread where GEJ's relative is sweating to explain how he was given $40million for special assignment....and most of the people here are not on this thread. 2.There is this thread...and the people on the GEJ relative thread are no where to be found. Well, the truth is Nigerians need to show APC and PDP the door. Give one of the other parties a chance. Let's start anew... But I know Nigerians, even if PDP and APC steals all their money, snatches their wives, insults the honor of their sisters and daughters....they will still vote for them And then , years later, they will be complaining about bad government. Rinse and repeat. (And something tells me that if we split this country....the same old song.). I don;t think Nigerians are ready to fight corruption. So long as their side is affected... Wake up Nigerians, wake up. Atiku and Bubu have NOTHING for you guys. |
Well, Kano State House of Assembly....over to you. You guys better do the needful and start impeachment proccedings so that EFCC can move in. |
