CultureRe: Do You Find The Word "nigga" Offensive? by Thirst4Lif: 8:01am On Apr 01, 2011
Barack Obama became a president by opportunity &and he's going to be the first & the last black president in american history lol
Unfortunately I, unlike you, cannot predict the future so I cannot say he will become the last Black President!

I wouldn't put too much emphasis on what Whites tell you. Whites would have you believe it was impossible

for an African American man to become President of the United States (the Free World) to begin with. We see how that

turned out, didn't we?

Now, can you speak to me of the many great things your Black President has accomplished for you?
CultureRe: Do You Find The Word "nigga" Offensive? by Thirst4Lif: 7:49am On Apr 01, 2011
^^Yup! just because you're a black man,

and its african ppl as black also that differentiate themselves from african americans also calling them slave kids secretly lol
And do you think Africans prefer their lives over the 'slave kids' lives? I do not see African Americans scrambling to go to Africa!!

I do, however, see Africans lying, thieving and conniving in an attempt to get to the United States where the 'slave kids' are!
CultureRe: Do You Find The Word "nigga" Offensive? by Thirst4Lif: 7:35am On Apr 01, 2011
Just a reminder:

When the names of  Rosa Parks, Malcolm X or Dr. King are referenced, please remember those great people did not lead a Civil Rights

Movement by themselves! Many, many Black Americans also fought, had hoses and dogs turned on them and some lost their lives

during that time. The names mentioned above were 'leaders', but there were thousands of 'followers' who made the life African Americans

as well as people from many different lands enjoy! I say this because so many people reference Rosa Park or MLK without giving due

credit to the followers. A Leader cannot exist or be taken seriously without Followers! That's why I laugh when I read statements from

Africans speaking as though the life they covet in the U.S. is something they accomplished by themselves
.

If it weren't for African Americans, Africans in America could not and would not exist!
CultureRe: Do You Find The Word "nigga" Offensive? by Thirst4Lif: 7:23am On Apr 01, 2011
The thing is, Caucasians do not differentiate between Africans and African Americans. They only see a Black face, PERIOD!

You may not consider yourselves Black or African American but the non-Black people of the world who would refer to a person as 'nigger' DO!
CultureRe: Do As I Say, Not As I Do by Thirst4Lif: 2:51am On Apr 01, 2011
Nigeria is also one of the most corrupt countries in the World.

They should stay on their knees praying 24/7!

Interesting theory. Also one I have often wondered about.
CultureRe: Do You Think African Models Should Create Their Own Standards? by Thirst4Lif: 2:46am On Apr 01, 2011
somebody should start a thick naija magazine
Great idea!
CultureRe: Do You Think African Models Should Create Their Own Standards? by Thirst4Lif: 2:44am On Apr 01, 2011
Clothing Designers generally make their clothes in the 'broomstrick' sizes and models have to cater to the designers if they

want to work in the business. That's why a model's body has to be versatile. Which means 'thin.' There are some

full-figured models, but very few.
CultureRe: I Want To Go Back To Africa by Thirst4Lif: 2:38am On Apr 01, 2011
Good luck with this venture. The best word I can think to describe Africa is 'complicated.'

But if you are determined I am sure you will thrive.
CultureRe: African-Americans And Their Igbo Roots by Thirst4Lif: 2:33am On Apr 01, 2011
I am simply creating this thread to stress the need for African-Americans to go back to their Igbo roots.
How do you propose African Americans do this? Are you saying they should go to Africa?
CultureRe: Africans In America Who Have Decided To Live The "urban" Ghetto Lifestyle by Thirst4Lif: 8:54am On Mar 31, 2011
The point I am trying to make, is that there is nothing wrong with the "urban" lifestyle as long as they remember their roots.
And by Africans not remembering their 'roots', as you say; by them going to America and becoming a part of the stereotype, they become just

another burden on the American government and the American taxpayers. Which is not why people from foreign countries are welcomed to the

United States in the first place. I'm sure the U.S. thought these people were going to their country to become productive citizens, not to become

a liability. Africans can place blame on African American culture if they need a scapegoat, but in the end every adult is responsible for his or her own

actions.
CultureRe: Africans In America Who Have Decided To Live The "urban" Ghetto Lifestyle by Thirst4Lif: 8:25am On Mar 31, 2011
The "urban" culture not only impacts some Africans, it also impacts other groups such as Asians, Hispanics and people from Europe. This is the price you pay when you live in the United States.
Just reading some of the comments you would think when Africans go to the U.S. they become mindless idiots incapable of proper judgement. If a

child is reared properly, relocating to another country or continent will not negate his or her upbringing. It's not in the locale, it's in

how the individual was reared! Raise your children properly and instill the right values in that child. THAT IS PARAMOUNT!! Therefore, should they be

fortunate enough to go to the U.S. or another country they will take with them all of the good that was instilled in them by their parents. Only a very

weak-minded person would relocate to the U.S. or anywhere else and be so influenced by the bad they encounter that they let themselves become

a part of it!!
RomanceRe: My Wife And Heavy Makeup by Thirst4Lif: 7:49am On Mar 31, 2011
@MyTake

Sounds like your wife has always worn heavy makeup. If this is true, why did you marry her

since you detest it so much?

Tell her the gum chewing irritates you. Honesty is the best policy.
RomanceRe: Mixed Couples And Racism On Both Sides by Thirst4Lif: 7:38am On Mar 31, 2011
Not meaning to be unkind, but you knew racism existed when she chose your husband!

So it's a little late to complain about it now!

Live your life and be happy with your choice!
RomanceRe: Do Girls Love Tattoo On Men by Thirst4Lif: 5:30am On Mar 31, 2011
I can live with 1 or 2 tattoos on a man but when he's

covered from his neck to his waist that is too much.

It starts to look nasty!
RomanceRe: I Met My Wife On Nairalist by Thirst4Lif: 5:20am On Mar 31, 2011

CelebritiesRe: Oprah Is Wrong! Julia Roberts Is America's Genevieve! by Thirst4Lif: 5:04am On Mar 31, 2011
The only problem with your argument is, the world doesn't know

WHO THE HELL Genevieve Nnaji IS!!! Everyone knows who

Julia Roberts is! Oprah did the woman a favor by even mentioning

her name. NOW people may research and find out who she is!

So in the end it's good for NNaji that Oprah spoke about her!
FamilyRe: Pls, Is It Advisable For A Man To Drive His Father In-law To A Social Function? by Thirst4Lif: 4:56am On Mar 31, 2011
Why wouldn't you offer the man a ride? Wouldn't you want

him to offer YOU a ride if you were in need? This is ridiculous!

Are you THAT selfish?
RomanceRe: My Wife Midnight Call by Thirst4Lif: 4:53am On Mar 31, 2011
You said, "it was a love MSG from the friend of my wife telling her he want to hold her kiss her !"

Nothing difficult to understand about that! The man is making a play for your wife.

Plus

She's allowing him to disrespect you by calling at midnight!

FamilyRe: Relationship by Thirst4Lif: 6:51pm On Mar 30, 2011
This thread is BULL! It sounds like another Nigerian scam.

These men do not have to send all the way to Nigeria for a

woman! Why would they! Not to be unkind but Nigerian women

ain't that d.amn attractive!! Unless they're trying to live out

their Master/Slave fantasies! Nigerian women BEWARE! You

may get to the U.S. or some other land, but you also may pay

with your LIFE!
RomanceRe: I,m Pissed Off. by Thirst4Lif: 6:45pm On Mar 30, 2011
You should never talk to your family or siblings about negative

things in a relationship because once you decide to stop being

angry with that person, THEY STILL ARE!! And they will remind you

of every bad thing you've told them about that person FROM NOW ON!!
RomanceRe: I,m Pissed Off. by Thirst4Lif: 6:43pm On Mar 30, 2011
You would tell him to make better choices and decisions next time.

I would say you can tell him he's a fool, but I'm sure

he already knows.

FamilyRe: Why Are Some Nigerian Women Too Proud Of Their Husband's Accomplishments? by Thirst4Lif: 6:19pm On Mar 30, 2011
There is nothing at all wrong with being proud of your husbands

accomplishments! However, it would be proper to boast of such

accomplishments around other women who's husbands are equally

successful. To make someone else feel like a lesser being

because they were not so blessed is insensitive and just tacky!
