Romance / Re: Men, Do You Value Intelligence Or Beauty? by ThoniaSlim(f): 6:57am On May 04, 2013
The truth is, before a man gets to know how intelligent you are, he first sees beauty. Except you both meeting in a different situation (Professional conference and all that) so if he isn't attracted to you, then he'll never know how intelligent you are.

Trust me, when you meet the right person, this wouldn't even be an issue.

Celebrities / Re: Waka Waka People: Meet The Three Most Red-carpet Party Goers Of 2012/2013 by ThoniaSlim(f): 2:55pm On Apr 04, 2013
unstoppableme: Hardly will an event held and the ‘three musketeers’ wont register their presence.

No doubt, they are celebrities and it’s expected that they grace events they are invited to but the three faces attend every Tom, Dick and Harry’s events even when they are not invited. There is no opening of events they haven’t attended, no luncheon has passed them by, in fact, they can even attend the opening of an envelope. We present to you, the top three red carpet celebrities of 2012. If any name is missing, kindly fill in the gap.

1. UTI Nwachukwu: No one takes the party going business as seriously as Uti. Sir, we don’t mind seeing your face around; we just think it’s time to give us a little room to “miss you”.

2. SUSAN Peters: No matter how hard you try, you just can’t get rid of this Benue state born actress. You need an impromptu guest at your village’s red carpet event…You know you can rely on our girl to show up! We love you mama, but we think you are abusing the privilege…

3. KAREN Igho: Could we call this the “Post Big Brother Africa” bug? It’s no surprise that since Karen won Big Brother Africa in 2011, she’s been seen at almost all major and minor parties. We know you on a roll girl, but we think you’ve delighted us long enough! Heard the word “Less is more”?

Politics / Re: Foreign Degree & The Nigerian Mentality by ThoniaSlim(f): 7:48am On Mar 05, 2013
I still believe you can get a job based on merit. A lot of foreign graduates think because you graduated from a foreign university that's a free ticket to getting a job even when you graduated with a pass/third class. I graduated in January came back first week of February and I'm due to resume work this week. Mind you, it was based on merit and not whom I knew because I just sent out an application and I was called for an interview. I haven't even gone for NYSC yet.

I believe in building your experience and being engaged while you chase bigger fishes like Multinationals. So even if you get a job with a smaller company that is offering you a 100k a month, do not put your nose up in the air or look down at it because that could be your ticket to getting something bigger. It contributes to making you more marketable to bigger companies. I think a lot graduates underestimate the power of experience. If a 100 graduates are applying for a single position, and they all have the same qualifications, what do you think would be the next criteria for evaluating whom to pick for job?

Romance / Re: Silent Treatment In Relationship Good/bad? by ThoniaSlim(f): 6:16am On Feb 04, 2013
There is a difference between silent treatment and calming down when you are angry so no need to confuse the two. Silent treatment killed whatever love I had for a particular ex. Just couldn't tolerate it anymore.

When you take a couple of minutes to hours to calm down, then that's acceptable. But when you continuously ignore your partner for a day to a couple of days or weeks, then that's just being wicked! Especially when you know the person is trying to apologize or talk you. I think silent treatment is a form of emotional abuse and it messes with the mind of the person trying to get your attention.

Majority of the people who give the silent treatment do not do so to calm down their anger, they do it to exercise some form of control over their partners. No matter how they might deny this, it makes them feel good because they feel they in control and that's the truth.

J12:

She was a hooker, not a gay. They're two different things.

Oh is that right? So I guess premarital sex is right, and being gay is wrong, huh?

So because they Gay, that's enough reason to have them stripped off, beaten up and paraded around naked? Seriously Shaking my head at you.
Crime / Re: Gay Men Stripped & Paraded In Imo State by ThoniaSlim(f): 12:56pm On Jan 17, 2013
Nigerians amuse me! You might not agree with what they do, but is that enough reason to strip them off their dignity? How does beating or cursing at them make you a better person?

Christians shouting (By the way I'm a Christian) What did Jesus say to the Pharisees when they brought the "Prostitute" before Him?

I guess you all are very selective when it comes to reading the Bible! Your very quick to judge others but I can bet 99% of you all are having premarital sex!

You feel your hearts with so much hate for a fellow human being and then later you go down before God on your knees.

You wonder why your prayers are not working or why Nigeria is not getting better? That's because the average NIGERIAN is filled with so much hatred, despise, and wickedness for a fellow human being! LOOK INWARDLY BEFORE YOU JUDGE SOMEONE ELSE!

Politics / Re: 'Smelly Nigerian': Racist Confrontation On London Train by ThoniaSlim(f): 7:19am On Jan 11, 2013
I'm a woman and I have to say she got it coming. First of all I have zero tolerance for men who hit women. But at the same time,as a woman that doesn't mean you should act out of order or use that as a leverage to be unruly.

Not all guys are men, not everybody would turn the other cheek when you hurl racist insults at them or throw a bottle at them and that's reality. Just because a man wouldn't hit you, doesn't give you the right to hit him.
Family / Re: Why Do Women Hate To Marry Traditional Men? by ThoniaSlim(f): 7:55am On Jan 08, 2013
Men amuse me a lot times! I guess a "GOOD WOMAN" is one who can wash, clean, cook, and be submissive to her man. Let me ask you, what if she does all these things and when she's mad at you, she'll use a knife to chase you around, does that still make her a wonderful woman?

I think to each man his own. If you want a traditional woman, then please go for that. But at the same time do not castigate someone who's different. We all have our choices and everyone is entitled to that choice!

Personally, I can't marry a traditional man. Just the same way oil and water can't mix, I can't get along with a traditional man who feels that a woman is beneath him and a woman can only be seen and not heard.

Definitely praying quietly! It gets on my nerves when people pray so loudly! Is God deaf?

I view God as my heavenly Father. If I do not shout when I'm talking to my earthly Dad, why should I shout when I'm talking to my Heavenly Father?

Family / Re: How Do You Deal With A Husband That Keeps Malice by ThoniaSlim(f): 12:12am On Dec 22, 2012
debrief08: If the man of the house cannot solve conflicts like an adult then deal with him the way he acts like a child. I have learnt it is counter productive to reward bad behavior, he acts like that because of the attention he ges from acting out just like a small child does.
He wants to be a baby allow him. Be polite but equally ignore him, when he is done with throwing tantrums and acting like a spoilt child he should come and act like the adult, father and husband he is meant to be.
Why would a grown man be acting like a child and expect to get petted? No wonder marriages keep getting sour, we expect one party to put up with all sorts of things, never have a diffferent veiw or believe. His attitude is bad, he needs to work on it. It is his problem and not her own.
Why should she be the one to beg and crawl because a grown man chooses to act worse than my 3 year old? We keep telling men that they are babies when they are not.

GOD BLESS YOU! Why can't adults learn to talk through their issues? Its ok to take a couple of hours off but past that its EMOTIONAL ABUSE PERIOD!

How can you claim to love someone and ignore them? I don't get it. Maybe my idea of love is different.
