Education › Re: Lagos State University Makes Yoruba Language A Compulsory Course For All Student by Timoleon(m): 12:48pm On Sep 14, 2023*. Modified: 1:04pm On Sep 14, 2023 |
i Have mixed feelings about this one but I believe something has to be done to preserve our indigenous languages. How far this will help I’m not sure. Most people don’t even use what the studies in the university not to talk about a course they did I. 100 level that’s not related to their actual course of study.
Lawmakers in Lagos should find ways of infusing the Yoruba language and culture into our everyday things that deals with our survival. Like corporate affairs, all public office engagements government publications etc. If a thing doesn’t affect our means of survival we won’t be bothered.
Nigerians pay huge sums to learn foreign languages so as to qualify them to go and work In those countries. If we can create the conducive environment where survival is assured here, infusing our languages and culture into our daily engagements will become more fashionable.
For now it’s just another course in the university that will almost not be useful for majority of those that will take it. |

Sharpsharp00123: bro abeg e get one thing wey I no understand for food wey people dey post online
Many put at least 5 or 6 meats, is that how they eat at home?
Cos me na max 2 meat or atimes 1 meat 1 egg or atimes egg n crayfish cos me I dey wonder if this is how people eat at home with 5 meats once
Mine is 2 max except me n my guys wan high then we can take as many as we want but not everytime
Please na like this others dey chop everyday? as you said, on occasion like highing or joint eating you fit pack meat gather on top food or in one bowl. It’s the same for most people. For the purpose of food blogging though, it’s usually a fine sight to garnish the food with plenty meat. Doesn’t mean it’s all going down at once or by one person. When pictures are done and it’s time to eat, it will be sorted out. (I believe). |

Omodua: You bore many of us with this Yoruba agenda. Lagos is a metropolitan city cutting across various ethnic groups and nationalities.
Therefore, underpinning the city with Yoruba agenda would be counter productive. Ask Warri people and they will tell you.
If you don't want other Nigerians, we go our separate ways than disturbing others with ethnically based policies. ok |
Politics › Re: Lagos Metro Official Addresses Passengers In Yoruba Language (Video) by Timoleon(m): 10:46am On Sep 13, 2023 |
jaxxy: Lagos is not the only yoruba land. Infact its not even the oldest or most cultural. we have the ancient city of Ibadan.
The issue with lagos is more political than cultural. Lagos has been a melting pot for all tribes and tax payers are from all tribes.
There is no argument that lagos is yoruba land bt it is also a metropolitan state and that is not a bad thing.
Same with abuja. Let's stop the negative political agenda. ok |

Well, the Lagos assembly did you pass a bill some time ago to carry out more activities in Yoruba. I guess the last few elections have shown them that the yorubas are fast losing the land to other tribes. By enshrining the language into official activities, they might slow down that loss. Let’s see how far it gets them. |
