If you dont believe in valentine, then u live a sad life.
We believe in God all year round, but we chose a day to celebrate him.
We are thankful all year round, we chose a day for Thanks giving.
We love all year round so we chose a day to show it.
2008, i felt like a lot of people in the forum, to hell with val, its nothing but hype.
2009, i write u from my honey moon suite, I wedded on val's day and all of a sudden it holds new meaning for me.
as for Val's gift, a trip to a beautiful resort, jewelry, clothes, perfume, or even a simple box of chocolates will do. The ultimate gift you can give a woman for val is love & commitment.
How nice, but do you really celebrate God on just one day out of the year?

For me, Gerrard has BY FAR been the MOST CONSISTENT midfieder in the world over the past 5 years. He's never had a below-par season since and his passes, long or short range are examplary. highest goal scorer in the current UEFA CL and 11 league goals so far from the midfield. Plus he's a big-game performer and can assume defensive or attacking roles at the drop of a hat. His set-piece deliveries are very good too and we all know about his in-game influence.

Players like Lampard, Alonso and Fabregas deserve a mention but Mikel? Please. He's yet to get to that level.

Man, we've got real idiots on this thread; attacking Benitez, ridiculing Keegan and worshipping Alex BUT neglecting the issue being addressed here. You can either say he's right or wrong without having to pretend you ever saw Keegan's protest ( hell most of you here just heard about it yesterday). anyway let's hear from an ex-ref who was fergie's friend:

Benitez: Backed by Poll

Former Premier League referee Graham Poll agrees that Sir Alex Ferguson receives lenient treatment from the Football Association.

Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez launched an astonishing attack on his Manchester United counterpart on Friday.

Benitez claimed Ferguson does not get punished sufficiently for his sometimes outspoken criticism of match officials.

Poll enjoyed a good relationship with Ferguson during his time as a referee but believes the Scot does get preferential treatment from FA disciplinary chiefs.

"Rafa Benitez has articulated what referees have been thinking for years - that Sir Alex Ferguson can say what he wants about them and the FA will allow him to get away with it," Poll told the Daily Mail.

"The authorities could point to Ferguson's two-match ban imposed earlier this season as proof that he is not out of reach of their disciplinary department, but that was for marching onto the field after the 4-3 win over Hull and for comments made directly to the referee, Mike Dean, who in reporting the misconduct forced the FA's hand."

Rafa has cracked and he has eclipsed Wenger's voyeurism by pulling out a sheet of paper from his pocket to drive his points.
I cannot(for the life of me) imagine Fergie pulling out a piece of paper to read about Gerrard's dives and Mascherano's petulance.
This is hilarious , i've not seen a manager meltdown like that since Keegan.
He's supposed to be portraying calmness and a sense of purpose to his players and his club.
Instead he produces his document with all the stuff he's taken the time to research (or had someone else do it).

How will that play to his own players. How telling is it that he advises Scolari to play zonal against the United staff.
Its meant as a joke but it gives away his real feelings that he is desperate for a Chelsea win this weekend.
He knows the fixtures and the fact Liverpool are not in the clear means United are the ones to beat.
Rafa is barely able to contain his temper and the body language is a dead give away.
Totally and utterly rattled. Well done SAF. Another one bites the dust.[/quote]Yes 'well done SAF'- for farting, we also adore you when your tricks, bullying and cheating are exposed methodically, calmly and on a piece of paper. Thou can do no wrong  tongue tongue tongue

Just watched the interview on sky sports. Benitez was prepared for this big time - he brought out a sheet fof paper and started reeling off Fergie's offenses one after the other. Classic ;DDon't think this is a meltdown though - he's basically putting pressure on refs and the FA to punish any misbehaviour of Fergie. If there's a bust up on Sunday and Fergie doesn't get punished, more and more people will believe this is the case. Benitez is loving being on top, it gives him the ability to talk down at everyone else. That said, Benitez is an even bigger complainer than JM ever was - Benitez complains about fixtures, refs, transfer fees, owners, name it. Methinks he is simply a bit jealous Fergie is usurping him as the biggest complainer. By complaining about Fergie, he's regained his position as the premiership's whiniest manager. grin
Very true BUT Whining is the name of the game and I still think Wenger tops that list. That said, Fergie takes his to another level: verbally attacking the FA, referees and even demanding to see the Referees Chairman personally! Can you even imagine poor little Gareth Southgate spitting stuff like that? The bloke will receive a season-long ban!

If you think Vidic is better than Ferdy, you have the wrong perception.

In any defence, the one who organises the defence is always the best defender.

The defender who does not go to ground, but wins the ball cleanly through good positional play is always the senior partner (Baresi, Maldini, Ferdinand, Laurent Blanc, Lothar Matteus, Tony Adams etc)

The defender who is always involved in the challenges and scraps is the junior partner in the defence (Gallas, Keown, Vidic, Taribo West grin etc)
I disagree and I'll cite Carragher as an example. He organises the Liverpool defence excellently and goes to ground for messy challenges more than any other member of the team (Including Mascherano). He's definitely a 'Senior Partner' having been involved in more clean sheets in the past three years than Ferdinand, Vidic, Terry and Carvalho! And oh! He never gets injured or red cards wink

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Stoke City (0) Vs Liverpool (0) On Saturday 10th January by tocdee(m): 9:52am On Jan 08, 2009
But a draw for the Reds and a win for the Blues would still leave Liverpool 1pt clear at the top, no?

Arbeloa won't play till the Everton game next week while Insua has been called up for Argentina's U20 squad (Big loss). Alonso MAY not be available as he recovers from that injury against Preston but with Lucas on fire, I don't think we need him against Stoke.

Stoke could be neutralized by the opposition pinning them in their own half and ensuring they don't win any throw-in's near the 18-yard box. I can only see a Red win  here.

Line-up should be:

                                                    REINA

CARRAGHER       AGGER/SKRTEL           HYPPIA (for aerial threat)    AURELIO

KUYT                    GERRARD/LUCAS                        MASCHERANO               RIERA

                                                       TORRES

Newcastle boss Joe Kinnear tipped Liverpool for the Barclays Premier League title after seeing his side torn apart at St James' Park on Sunday.
The Reds recorded a 5-1 win in the north-east after goals from Steven Gerrard (2), Ryan Babel, Sami Hyypia and Xabi Alonso.

"I think we have just seen the title winners," said Kinnear. "And I think we've seen the best performance from a single player for a long time in Gerrard, he was magnificent.

"Without a shadow of a doubt they are the best team we've played this season. They were head and shoulders above us. They are an exceptionally good side.

"It was such a one-sided game because they are a world-class team. You have to take your hat off to Liverpool.

If you could only get off your high horse and watch more football, you'd realize that playing against 10 men can sometimes be a lot more difficult than playing against 11 due to the commitment and concentration increase. Players with 10 men tend to be more compact. Even you can't deny that Arsenal played better after Adebayor was sent off.

I feel it depends on what you need in your team: A team-player and inluential Gerrard OR a flambouyant, goal scoring Ronaldo. Different qualities. But Gerrard's played well for 10 years now so I feel he's tested thoroughly. Ronaldo could match that too if he continues to work hard.

Torres, Rafa and Reina will be going home ( Rafa will be returning to a team where he coached),  Arbeloa will also return to a club he started with! Its a dream draw for The Reds!
