I just saw this picture. It typifies the guy. Since he got to liverpool, he's been playing like a mad man. Love his style but I wonder what he was looking at in that picture. C. Ronaldo's right foot, hopefully grin.

Its secretly whispered that Martin Skrtel is the only human that can walk into Rafa's office without knocking!

Also some say Rafa had a fall-out with the bosses because he pleaded that the "This is Anfield" sign be changed to "This is Skrtel-and You are Proper f***d!"

A child once testified that he saw the man kill two stones with a bird!

To think he was bashed left, right and centre here makes his goal priceless. That should keep guys like Rikkyjen and co quiet for some time. Someone criticized him for being swallowed away from Anfield. Bollocks! He's scored at Stamford Bridge, Stade Velodrome and the San-Siro. The Kid's a genius. But I still believe that Spain's style doesn't suit him.

True talk - Good note. But why stop me from hailin my Guy Fabregas. Also, you als admitted that Spain Passes the boy like Arsenal. You siad Spain has 4 players from Liverpool - Xabi Alonso, Torres, Reina, ?. But which of them has added more impact to the team? Anyway none of them commands the attention of fans and media in this Euro - or any other place as much as Cesc "Omo Oro" Fabregas. The only people which gathers more attention is Villa, Casillas, Senna, Xavi, Iniesta, etc. None of them from the POOL.

Forget the arguments, lets just CHEER SPAIN TO FINAL.

UP ARAGUNNERS!!!
Xabi
Torres
Reina
Arbeloa( Played 90 mins against Greece)

A BIT ON TORRES

I can't believe the amount of stick torres is getting on this thread. While I'm a

bit disappointed by his performance in the Euros, I know his game too well to know

that he is one of the best strikers (If not the best)  in the world. I mean its like

saying P.Cech is crap for his howlers against Turkey or Van D Saar is overrated for

letting in 3 goals agains Russia! No! we know these guys are excellent players with

their clubs. Its almost like people enjoy seeing players fail.

YOU CAN'T JUDGE A PLAYER BY 4 APPEARANCES!!! Torres is obviously not suited (YET)

for the Spanish slow, patient system. He's accustomed to the fast, direct football

of Liverpool with Gerrard and Alonso finding him with long, searching passes and

then using his pace to run behind defenders to finish. That's how he scored 33

goals in 48 appearances for Liverpool. He even admitted that Gerrard brings out the

best in him.

I have also heard people saying here that he doesn't perform in big games. Utter

Bollocks!
THE ONLY PREMIERSHIP CLUB HE HASN'T SCORED AGAINST IS MANCHESTER UNITED(How many

have?)AND ALL IN HIS 1ST SEASON!!! which matches were bigger than Uefa CL 2nd

Round, quarters and Semi's where he scored against Inter, Arsenal and Chelsea

respectively?

FUTURE

The chap just turned 24 and he has broken many Liverpool records (not easy with the likes of Dalglish, Ian Rush, Owen and Fowler) and a

Premier league record(Highest debutant goal scorer in Pl history). He's yet to peak

and with 52 CAPS for Spain at that age, surely his coach knows something we don't.

So please show me  a better stiker for this past season and i'll rest my case.

Just a thought.

up ARAGUNNERS!!!

IF YOU ALL CHECK MY FIRST POST IN THIS THREAD, You'LL KNOW I WAS RIGHT. SPAIN WILL DEFINITELY WIN THE CUP. AM AN ARSENAL SUPPORTER, AND SPAIN IS THE CLOSEST TEAM THAT DELIVERS ARSENAL STYLE - SO AM TO GUN FOR THEM IN THIS EUROS. CAN'T FORGET HOW T HEY BROKE MY HEART LAST WORLDCUP, BUT NOW AT LEAST - MY RECORD SPEAKS 4 ITSELF.

UP ARAGUNNERS!!!! SUNDAY COMES, I'LL SIP FROM THE GOLDEN CUP
'Aragunners'?? huh huh grin Come on. Spain doesn't play like Arsenal (except with passes). Arsenal plays direct football with 1 striker up front while Spain's approach is a patient one with two target men- hence Torres not playing well (by his standards). Its okay to support Spain but hey, if any English club is highly associated with Spain, Its Liverpool (With 4 players in the Spanish squad!),

Hell, Rafa and a lot his staff are Spanish. Spanish flags have been hanging from a lot of Merseyside windows since Rafa came to England.

But at the end of the day, its about Spain, not Arsenal nor Liverpool so enough of this 'Cesc' CRAP!!!! angry angry angry

I just scanned through this thread thinking it was quite current!! huh I've always seen Rooney as a shining example of the over-hype of English players. He's average at best. I mean, any decent attacker at Manchester United should be scoring at least 20 goals per season given the decent service guaranteed there.

Players like Torres, Roque Santa Cruz, Adebayor, Drogba, Benjani, Forsell, etc are far better finishers but hell, the EPL Intro theme starts with Rooney handling a ball!!! grin

@tocdee,
u gave a good analysis on barry/alonso.
But why would he want milner when bentley who is a better player is available?
I wish we made a bid for someone like Andrei Arshavin.
Very true. I honestly think that Milner thing's just talk. He's not even good enough for Everton. We've been linked with Bentley but I think we won't sign him with Barry coming too. I heard today that Rafa wants David Silva of Valencia. He is the perfect man for the left wing. I love that player.
That said, Arshavin would be the signing of my choice but i really don't think we have thatkinda money.

As for Riise going to Roma, all I can say is 'good luck!' He was an example of a true Red in spirit. Pity his form dropped to such depths.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Liverpool F.C Fans Zone - the Mighty Reds ! by tocdee(m): 1:04pm On Jun 17, 2008
I can't say i'm not a bit worried by our targets this summer. BUT I don't think its Rafa's fault either. The money was just not released to the bloke. That said, I think Barry would be an upgrade from Alonso. While Barry's a more complete player (bar passing ability), he also offers something many of our players lack- Power. Like Gerrard, Masch, Kuyt and Skrtel, he could bully the opposition into submission. Thats where Alonso falls short. While he sprays passes excellently, he's offered little else this season. And then Barry's home grown- important in the prospective 6+5 system.

As for Milner, Degen and Riera, I'm afraid they'll make us look more like Newcastle FC!! just not our standard I'm afraid.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Liverpool F.C Fans Zone - the Mighty Reds ! by tocdee(m): 1:00pm On May 26, 2008
Asv I said earlier (I think), Degen is a back-up to Arbeloa (who got called up to the Spainish Nat Team). And he can certainly improve. Where we need to spend is on the wings.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Liverpool F.C Fans Zone - the Mighty Reds ! by tocdee(m): 11:49am On May 20, 2008
I don't know. I really like watching Pennant taking on defenders. He's the best dribbler we have in the team. Hate Voronin's style of football. Riise's not very intelligent but he's very strong and NEVER gets injured. He's gotta go though since Dossena of Udinese seems set to join us as LB. Signing Deggen means;

1. He'll assist Arbeloa
2. Carra can focus on CB(though will play at RB once in a while as Agger's back to training.)
3. Finnan will be sold for about 2M.
4. Most importantly, rafa will have more money saved for the attacking wing positions. There we need to splash the cash.

Also, Babel needs to start training and playing as a striker. No doubt with his speed and shot power, he could do well.

Finally, i feel our central spine of CB and MC is perfect already and with Rafa's lessened tinkering, who really knows?

Oops, here's a photo of the new signing. Rafa seems to go for looks these days (Skrtel aside)

SAF for winning the EPL again and most especially for making a final of british clubs a reality.
He deflated the rubbish ego of the camp nou boiz.
This number 1 status will be confirmed by may 21 when he would have been crowned as the best coach in europe
SAF is the best around!!!!

Wenger comes close but hes too prone to self destruct that i wonder what drives him
ephemeral footie (pass pass pass pass pass and miss) or effective footie
my dear wenger prefers the samba style to winning. his team can be likened to the Dutch team of old that had the likes of cryuff. they were raw talents, mesmerises with der innate skills but couldnt conquer the effective German side (Frank Berkenbeur side)

I know with more experienced players on board, Wenger's work will be der for all to see.
i still will personally doff my hats for him for playing a UCL final with school boiz

Grant is an idiot who claimed he will change Chelseas pattern of play, but what do we have after months of his taking over. the same borrring footie.
his subs make me wonder and i think mother luck has been on his side.
ill give him the second position because hes in the finals. Mourinho couldnt but ill be quick to say he has done it with Mourinhos machines so the glory should be shared between Mourinho and Grant.

Grants will be tested next season and im sure he will run out of ideas

i know u guys will be wondering why Benitez is far down; hes simply a bloody Pillock!!
The reds want the EPL title and he will not deliver it because hes just a damn cup competition coach!!
for all reds waiting for when Liverpool will win the EPL, your great grandchildren will tell u the stories if Benitez will be here till then (no puns)

my 2 kobo on whos the best coach!
After carefully going through your points, I deduced that you are a bit disturbed up there. I really cant imagine why you feel Benitez is that poor. Because he hasn't won the EPL in 4 yrs? Do you think any other coach in your fantasy list would have achieved what he did given the prevailing horrible conditions going on off-field? Ferguson and AW have experience to fall back on, Grant can thank Abramovic + Mourinho for assembling a big expensive squad ( He lacks the ability to discover talent) and for goodness sake Moyes, O'neal, Eriksson and Redknapp where ALL out-foxed by Rafa this season. Even AW hasnt beaten Rafa in their last 5 clashes. Remember, Rafa ruled over REAL Madrid and Barca during his few years with Valencia and won the Spanish League Twice!

Finally, the comment about Rafa not lifting the EPL in our lifetime is as silly as its quite revelatory of the fact that you only JUST started following that lovely game of football- It took Fergie about 6 yrs to lay his hand on his first. He was only a game away from being sacked!

And why not Reina? Everyone seems to call names of has beens eg Buffon, casillas, etc. These keepers ship goals in consistently and then turn around to make one-off top-class Camera-friendly saves to the shout of 'OLE!' from the stands. But the truth is: presently, Reina is up there. And I base this on something we can all agree on at least:

All said, I think guys underrate Benayoun too much. I feel he's a quality player and is excellent as a squad player. That said, he shouldn't really be a first teamer. Play him when defences are tight, and he'll find a hole. He always does.

Finally, I hope Rafa brings in Kristzian Nemeth from the reserves. Though young, he's definitely going to be the next Torres. Looks like him too. wink
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Liverpool F.C Fans Zone - the Mighty Reds ! by tocdee(m): 4:27pm On May 08, 2008
Long time guys. Its a pity my job has taken me to an area without Network coverage and kept me out of these boards. What can I say, " I LOVE THIS CLUB". Dont get me weong, I'm clearly devastated but on the bright side, we've got some great players in this side.
We need to clear out players like Riise ( Insua could take over, the boy's a gem), Voronin (just go, pleease), Finnan (Past it), Kewell (Sick Child) and Alonso (Lost it-enter Gareth Barry). I'd hate to see Crouchie go BUT with a 15 million pound price tag, we could bring in another star striker/winger.

I think Kuyts fine. Babel puzzles me- You like him, then you almost curse him!!

That said, I think the young Reds in reserves are simply spectacular having watched some of their games on LFC Tv. They ended the season with a Treble!! after beating Aston Villa (plus Harewod) 3-0! A guy stands out Kristzian Nemeth. The boy reminds me of Torres, looks and skill!!!

Other rising stars are; Nabil Elzhar, Huth, Pacheco, Insua and of course Plessis.

With the right signings, we'll set our hands on a lot in the future Mark these words.

P.S: Who gives a shite if Chelsea won with an own goal and a penalty? They'll never measure up to Liverpool in style, class, success, fame, trophies, history, glamour and fans, can they?
