He is yet to win a league title. . . . . .How about that??

Because he plays amongst zombies. The team is more or less built around Gerrard so what do u expect??
10 other plays look up to him to conjure something out of a game. It's either he dives and win a penalty(Athletico Madrid) or he whispers to the ref to get someone sent off(Everton @ Goodison Park).

Carrick and Anderson played against Lucas and Mascherano. Gerrard was played in an advanced position.
Besides, Liverpool did nothing in the midfield but defend with their lives. All your goals were scored via ROUTE ONE FOOTBALL.
How would Anderson have defended Reina's punt into the heart of United defence that led to 3 goals that y'all scored? Huh??

Pele, Maradona and Zidane never played in the Premiership but they all won at least one domestic league in the clubs they played for.
Only a resident retard like yu would expect Maradona to win the PREM while playing in Italy/Spain/Argentina.
Gerrard has been starring for Liverpool for a decade and he's got nothing to show for it.

U sound like a dork. . . . . . . .He is the most overrated piece of shit the PREM has produced. . . .
How can a common league title evade the best English player??

Only deluded Scousers rate him!!!

As I've said in another thread, you cut a very frustrated figure. Insulting people on Nairaland is your thing, alright. Childish. So much hatred for a player who's doing so much better than you seem to be doing really. I enjoy football but I take issues pertaining to my life more seriously and I don't insult people over trivial things. You really need to grow up.

He is an asswipe in the midfield. He lacks the discipline to be a midfielder.

Why? He doesn't do futile step-overs nor does he throw the ball at the referees, does he?

~Sauron~:

Gerrard's positional sense and his inability to retain the ball makes him a pathetic midfielder.
In the midfield, i will have Carrick and Anderson before Gerrard.

How does he always pop up with the ball during matches? Why does he seem to be everywhere from DM to AM if his positional sense is poor? Why is he key to 65% of the goals his team scores?
You must have noticed that your preferred duo of Carrick and Anderson were insufficient against him at Old Trafford. I rate those two BUT I'm sorry, Anderson isn't top four standard. How could this same Gerrard have won back-to-back PFA Player of the Month awards if he was 'pathetic' AND how do you know he'll be 'pathetic' in that role IF he doesn't even play there?

~Sauron~:

He is the last great player left yet to win the Premiership. . . . . .

Oh dear! Pele never won the premiership, Maradona didn't too and of course Zidane was never a great, right?

~Sauron~:

Gerrard whispers to referees and he gets favourable decisions.

Another ability every player SHOULD possess grin
~Sauron~:

If u bring him down in the box, he gets a penalty.

You're brilliant! Next time he'll get a throw-in!!

~Sauron~:

Athletico Madrid WILL NEVER forget Stevie Gerrard.

Neither will many people around the world. Amen.

TRIBUTE TO KUYT

Hi all, I've always said that Dirk Kuyt's one of my favourite players and I just saw this article that almost brought a tear to my advanced eye. What a guy: here it is:

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Most Overated Player In The Premier League by tocdee(m): 12:30pm On Mar 25, 2009
If anything, Gerrard is under-rated. Unlike Ronaldo, Rooney, Carrick, etc, he almost NEVER has a poor game. I watch, download and review a lot of matches and I struggle to see a more complete player than this bloke. He's excellent in spot-kicks, Free kicks, Corner kicks, Headers, Passing, Influence, Shooting, Acceleration+Pace, Tackling, Motivation, Humility, Proffessionalism and temperament.

While a lot of modern players spend time on hair-do's and tatoos, Pepsi adverts and Tv shows, this guy doesn't have time for all that. I was very surprised to hear Vidic touted as a strong favourite for the PFA award (albeit a Fergie campaign) but we all know who it will be awarded to, don't we?

Ferguson never wanted Adebayor. . . . . . Anything Ferguson wants, he gets.

Talk true!! shocked . Faggie wanted Torres but alas! He got Saha; Faggie wanted Torres again but when he opened his parcel, Manucho jumped out without his work permit.

But seriously, as much as some people seem to eat the lice off Ferguson's scalp, he's not THAT powerful you know.

Oh! I love Wengerball too, its a brilliant invention

1. No hard tackles
2. No growing of beards
3. Players' parents must be ever-present to cheer their kids
4. No trophies involved- just hugs, tears and the occasional spit on the ground.

Football redefined by the Proff himself. Kudos!

i hear say rafa wan bring arjen robben to anfield.and also on his most want list na barry, silva n villa.wetin una feel?

I doubt rafa'll ever want to buy a player like Robben, he prefers team-players to individualistic stars. As for Barry, I don't see the need to spend so much on a player who can't contribute much to free-flowing attacking footie. We don't need an expensive cover for Masch or Alonso with jay Spearing coming up and Lucas improving. Villa? Naaaaaa! Too expensive and will disrupt our 4-2-3-1 formation (remember Keane?). Silva is just an upgrade of Yossi but Rafa may get him for the left wing and convert Babel as a back-up striker for the reds.

I still feel we need to sort out the right side of our team. Kuyt's still one of my BEST players (and Rafa's too) but sometimes we'll need the variety to unlock the Stokes of this world.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Manchester United Fan Thread: Forever Reds by tocdee(m): 9:47pm On Mar 23, 2009
Ibime:

How can I be a United fan? Did I not rate Mascherano and Fabregas as my top two? I will take a free-flowing United over a turgid Liverpool anyday. I am impartial when it comes to footie analysis!

I am off to bed. Gotta wake up at 6.

I will say this in closing: Stevie G is undoubtedly World Class. However, I don't consider him to be a World Class midfielder. . . . . Its been 9 years of watching him get dominated in International midfield battles for England. . . . My antipathy toward Stevie G is solely based on his insistence on taking Lamps midfield spot (and the subsequent media witch-hunt of Lamps, to the point that Spurs fans jump onto the pitch to attack him). . . . .Its been 5 years of Stevie G trying to lay claim to that spot, yet no manager would give it to him (despite Lamps obvious unpopularity). Not Eriksson, not McLaren and not Capello. Even his club manager Benitez REFUSED to give him a central midfield position. . . . . . He simply lacks the touch-tight technique and positional discipline to play there. Therefore, he needs to stop his media campaign to get that midfield position. He has had it before (most poignantly against Russia) and flopped! . . . . . . He is somebody who should be given a free role to instigate counterattacks with his lightening pace and deadly shots. He is not a central midfielder, certainly not comparable to Lamps in that position, although he may be a better player overall.

So Gerrard led a troop of Spurs fans to assault Lampard. That's simply spittle. He won the MVP as a CM in the UCL. The next year Rafa converted him to an AM, thus raising his goals per season from 8's to 20's. With Mascherano and Alonso, why does he need to play there when Liverpool play 4-2-3-1?

On a lighter mood, this poem was written by a UTD fan to Berbatov on Redcafe:

Oh Berbatov
You're just so slick
But please don't stand there like a pr*ick
When we haven't got the ball
You don't do very much at all.

Oh Berbatov
When you first came
People on the caf all raised their game
And their glasses, and some their cocks
But please get in the fu*king box.

I've not stopped laughing since. grin grin grin grin

Can't you for once be fair? how can you say that Liverpool is the shittiest team in England? How can you think Iniesta's better than Gerrard?

Zamora should be flogged at half time.

Sometimes I wonder how that guy has a job in the EPL Let me loose and I'll score one at craven cottage. Danny Murphy has been excellent (former Liverpool player). He scored the winner against UTD 3 times when he was with the Reds. However, I fear fulham's wastefulness (Dempsey and Zamora) will eventually haunt them.

I don't think liverpool will be that tired. We'll have Alonso and Arbeloa returning to the line-up, Torres and Gerrard just came back from injury so they've had sufficient rest. If anything, Villa should be more tired cos the squad is a bit thin PLUS they've always done poorly at Anfield. That said, a lot depends on how seriously the Reds take this match.
